Question: Upon rename of media file, is old metadata file removed during library scan?

So I have begun the process of cleaning up all my tv episodes to use a standard naming convention (Series - S##E## - Episode Name)... 

 

Once the file has been renamed MB3 will update and create new metadata files (yay!).

But does it remove the now old named metadata files?  Or is this a manual process to clean up?
