can't sign in remote

it was working.  Suddenly it is not.  Server is working on macmini big sur.  latest version.

but can't sign in remote on either Android (aOS9) phone or Roku 3930X.

Emby connect takes one user name and makes an attempt but times out.

The other user name it rejects on the Roku and here on the website.

I did get a confirm of reg this morning.

I wonder if it is a bandwidth problem as bw is ~8M/2M.

Restarted router and Roku.

I did log into the remote computer with TeamViewer and there I could log in to Emby.

HI, did you try doing a manual connection and entering the server address directly into the app?

yup.  gave me an error.

"we're unable to connect to the selected server right now.

please ensure it is running and try again.  (it is)

-7:Failed to connect to 173.##.##.##:8096: Success"

tried the remote address in a browser where I am.  no connect.

tried the same, from where I am (via TeamViewer), on a browser on my Mac back home.  no connect.

weird, it was working 2 days ago when I was home.

You could try adding the port forwarding rules into your router on your own in case for some reason the server's port mapping feature isn't able to do it.

What exactly did you do?

I dunno what I did, but at least I can see the server address at my remote location.

I can't sign in as emby rejects users and/or pw's.

Even after pw reset.

also, it would be very useful to be able to see passwords as entered in Emby/Server/Users/User

figured it out.  I think I was confusing Emby app user name/pw and Emby community user/pw.

I was working on port forward in the router.  Turned it off.  The router logged me out.

But there were also some issues with local IPs at home.  I set a static I didn't need.

When I logged back in that was when I was able to log into Emby remote.

Sounds like you have this under control now and can properly access your Emby server correct?

yes.  dunno what made the router burp at home, perhaps a power out.  that seemd to be the main issue.

getting back in to emby once the router issue was fixed was just getting the user name right.
