Albertax 14 Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Hi Team, last year i remember the christmas theme playing and a little santa jingle would play. But when i have the Holidays theme selected, it doesn't do anything? When does this theme kick in? Anyone know?
Luke 42083 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 hi, it's way too early for the christmas theme. You won't see that until just before christmas. 1
FrostByte 5392 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 I leave mine on all year long. It's never too early for Xmas 4 1
Spaceboy 2573 Posted November 8, 2021 Posted November 8, 2021 Going by when the hallowe’en theme turned up, expect it on Christmas Day itself

You only get to enjoy it for one day, which makes no sense to me but I'm not in charge. Personally I think the Christmas theme should start the day after Thanksgiving and run for the month.....or at least a week before.

Since Christmas has become mostly meaningless I guess the Christmas theme could be a year round thing for those that have interest. This is one case where it might be good for Emby to have an alternate default theme for those that wish to celebrate Christmas (Which really belongs in the spring or summer or fall anyway) year round. But Emby should just turn it on now. Why fight the great commercial machine that Christmas has been corrupted to become. Or Emby could just drop seasonal themes totally and not have to worry what the great Christmas (or other holidays) conglomerate wants us to do. For me turning it off does exactly what I want but so many people want more or less or different that I think Emby would be better served by simply dropping all seasonal themes.
pwhodges 2012 Posted November 9, 2021 Posted November 9, 2021 I quite like a Christmas theme - at Christmas. Last time I checked, Christmas was not in early November. You could go traditional and have it for the twelve days (Dec 25th to Jan 5th) - except modern practice is that Christmas ends with the Boxing Day sales... Indeed, I've seen houses throw out their Christmas trees on Christmas Eve. Paul

Last time I checked, Christmas was not in early November. Actually there are a great many biblical scholars that point out the Dec. 25 is nearly impossible for the birth of Christ. It would have been extremely hard for Mary to travel in the winter in her condition. There are some that put the actual date in the fall, probably September. As a conjunction of Venus and Jupiter in the sky could have easily made the "Star" appearance as reported. Which could also happen in the summer. There are almost no scholars that put the real birth of Christ in the winter. So a year round Christmas theme actually makes sense. Biblical evidence shows Jesus most likely wasn’t born on December 25
Solution ebr 16187 Posted November 9, 2021 Solution Posted November 9, 2021 Honestly, this discussion has been beaten to death multiple times. You can turn off the seasonal themes if you wish You can also select one of them manually any time you wish If you have allowed the seasonal themes to apply automatically, then the Holiday theme will start about a week before Christmas That really seems like it should put this whole thing to bed. Turn them on if you want them, off if you don't and manually select it if you want it now. 1 1 2
