mrb002 5 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 i'm getting the "unable to connect to server" message for my server, but only on a web browser when logging in with emby connect. i have tried both HTTP and HTTPS for logging in to emby connect in a browser my server has a domain name and an SSL cert smart tv apps and phone apps appear to be unaffected logging into emby connect on chrome, i can see the server name but clicking on it gives me the message that says the server can't be connected to or isn't turned on confirmed on router and the server that ports are forwarded. canyouseeme also reporting it can see both the secured and unsecure ports are open. i tried searching the forums and found some people reporting issues with LE certs in september but those look resolved. anything else i should try?
ebr 16184 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Hi. What happens if you enter the address directly in the browser? Also, is the address shown on your Emby dashboard for WAN access the correct address?
Luke 42079 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 HI, can you capture the contents of the browser debug console? Thanks.
Carlo 4561 Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Following along as well to hear how this is setup.
Solution mrb002 5 Posted November 4, 2021 Author Solution Posted November 4, 2021 Thank you everyone as always for your quick responses - it appears this issue is out of our control. I did lots of testing using non-local devices and it seems like the issue is only occurring on two different corporate networks (maybe some sort of security/VPN issues). I can still provide logs if you would like but I am also willing to accept this is a limited issue related to those two corporate networks.
Carlo 4561 Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 Ahh, yes, the company firewall is likely causing you issues. If you have the ability you could try and use a VPN connection to bypass the corporate network but they might have that blocked as well.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 sounds like a terrible idea to me. if you work somewhere thats blocking websites, they will also be monitoring for vpns. expect a call from your manager...
mrb002 5 Posted November 5, 2021 Author Posted November 5, 2021 i'm not doing anything to get around any corporate blocks - i was just worried that app.emby.media appeared to be broken for my server, but it took some time to realize it was likely the corporate networks.

Totally agree with you even though I was the one who mentioned the VPN. A quick diagnostic test is one thing but abusing the company network is another thing. When in doubt error on the side to keep you out of trouble!
