GaoXingEmby 0 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 I hope the emby server can manually add subtitles that have been downloaded locally You can add a button to add local subtitle
Solution Carlo 4561 Posted September 2, 2021 Solution Posted September 2, 2021 Yes, Emby can handle external SRT files just fine that you already have. Just make sure they are names correctly. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159160-subtitles 1

Luke 42078 Posted September 2, 2021 Posted September 2, 2021 Just run a normal library scan. That's all you need to do. 1

Embodiment 28 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 As follow-up, since this works only in the Premier version, if I have my .SRT files in the same directory as the movie, if I download a movie for offline viewing, Emby will also download the associated .SRT in that same folder. My .SRT are local and converted from my files. So I do not need to download them from the Internet. Hence the specific nature of my question.

You don't need Emby Premiere to use subtitles or download subtitles. The download feature does require Emby Premiere though.
Embodiment 28 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Thank you for your quick response. So if I purchase Premiere, will my own saved subtitles download along with the mpg? IE. I have a movie, say Home Alone.mpg in a Library along along with my own Home Alone.srt. Will it download both files? IE. does not need to go to the internet to grab an .srt as I already have one timed for my movie.
Carlo 4561 Posted January 2, 2025 Posted January 2, 2025 Hi, Emby Server won't pull/download a srt file if a srt file is already present. You want to make sure which languages you have setup to download for each library. Make sure your subtitles have a language code in the filename. You can cut down on subtitle downloads with the hash match, not d/ling a sub if the default audio track is the same language chosen for subs.
