Hi everyone, I would like to share a beta version of my YouTube plugin for Emby. This plugin is focused on clean integration using the official YouTube Data API v3 and embedded YouTube playback. Main plugin overview inside Emby: What the plugin can do: Browse YouTube channels, playlists, and search results directly in Emby Support @handles, UC channel IDs, PL playlist IDs, and free-text search Channel subfolders for Videos, Shorts, and Live/Upcoming Trending view with region/category options Recently Added view across configured channels Optional Watch Later polling Optional Hide Shorts toggle to fully remove Shorts from browsing views Quota tracking shown in the plugin settings Plugin settings: Requirements: Emby Server 4.9 or newer YouTube Data API v3 key Known limitations: Playback uses the YouTube watch page in the embedded web player Resume position cannot be reliably forced by the plugin in this playback mode Audio track/language behavior is controlled by YouTube account/browser settings, not by plugin-side URL forcing Download: Get the latest release from https://github.com/eliasbruno124-dev/Emby-Youtube-Plugin Thank you for testing and helping improve the plugin.3 points

It's been in the "future plans" stage for ten+ years. lol Coming soon to Emby 2040!3 points

This would be a really nice addition! I'm not using it my self but have been thinking about getting into Ollama, so it might be a good way for me to try it out! I will absolutely put this on the to-to list, but currently I'm trying to create a way to create a "Top 10-list" with icon/number overlay on the poster. Kind of the way that the old "Top picks" plugin did. I'm struggling a bit with this so before getting into more things I'm gonna see if i can get this done first. Thanks for the idea!2 points

Just found this working in the latest beta - thanks Emby !!! With a quick 5min experiment, here is what it could look like: I already had the "Green" Artist IDs previously mapped and they therefore immediately link to the relevant pages. With a bit more time and effort, it will likely be possible to have the "Gold" Genres linking as well. So this will be another way to directly cross-reference between Artists and Genres without needing to navigate via a "tree structure". So, another step closer to Roon... I still haven't worked out a nice way to implement genres and sub-genres yet - but this is a good step in the right direction... Thanks again2 points

I don't even think I would use this all that much. I just think it's funny/sad as heck that Devs keep saying it's in their "future plans" after ten years! If you can't get to something in that amount of time then just say why it has not happened and/or close the request. IT'S BEEN TEN YEARS!2 points

@nospotifyBulk editing is for metadata fields not accessible outside of Emby like Emby tags.2 points

I've noticed something odd. When watching Live TV on my Roku TVs, and the next show comes on, the Show Title changes to the correct info, but the episode info (episode title, length, etc) isn't updating. (I initially thought it was doing odd schedule drift from buffering until I finally had a chance to pay attention to it). The easiest way for me to "show" what's happening is the image attached. When I tuned to the channel, "I Love Lucy" was with the episode "The Passports" At the top of the hour, the show changed to "Leave It to Beaver", but the episode information remained from "The Passports". In another half hour, it will still stick on the episode "The Passports". I do not know what happens with movies that are aired, if that even matters. I've noticed this from both HDHomeRun and custom .m3u channels. I had thought it was a problem with my .m3u channels at first, but have reproduced it on HDHomeRun channels. I did a test with the Emby web interface, and that seems to work fine there. So, I think it's limited to at least the Roku app. Obviously, it's not a huge deal. Just an inconvenience when I'm watching something and am curious as to which episode is on or when I'm trying to see how much time is left on the episode. Roku App version: 4.1.54 Emby Server version: 4.9.3.0 If you need a test stream, I can DM a developer a link to an M3U stream of Schoolhouse Rock, since they're quick "episodes".1 point

I mentioned it in another thread, but thought I'd put it here since this looks like a new section--just for posterity. Would like to have a bulk meta data editor function. For example, if I have 750 videos whose producing studio is the same, I want to select those videos and apply the name of the studio to those videos. Similarly, if there is a custom tag I want to apply to a subset of those movies, I want to be able to select them in bulk and apply the tag to those videos (instead of selecting them one by one).1 point

Hi, It would be great to have a custom UI made for Emby when using CarPlay. Right now, it seems like we are just using the standard iOS template for it?1 point

Just because something that we'd like to do in the future hasn't made it to the top of the priorities list doesn't mean we should deny it ever happening.1 point

HI, user audio preferences are evaluated first, and then after that, this already happens if all other factors are equal.1 point

@Luke is there any function or plan for Emby to automatically choose the highest sound formal the device can handle?1 point

The definition of "your server" - is a server that you own and manage yourself, and that you have personally installed Emby Server software on. So, if it is your server - can you check the status of the Emby Server application and verify that it is actually up and running? If in fact, it is not your sever, and instead a server that was provided to you - then you will need to contact the admin of that server for help, we cannot assist you with that.1 point

@ChimaeraHere are the settings that work for me on my Apple TV 4k. I'm using Virtual TV version 2.1.7.4. I'm using Playlist (Live) for my playback method on my channels. You may also want to try and clear the cache for each channel by clicking the garbage can icon. Then after that refresh the guide data.1 point

Never mind, I was in the wrong folder; thank you all for the help, it looks great!1 point

Thank you both, I found the file in Contents/Resources/WWW, and edited the HTML file and added the .js, but I don't see any changes. Should I add the .js file to the WWW folder or somewhere else?1 point

Yeah, totally custom colors would be utilized by very few and allow people to make a complete mess of their display - even possibly to the point of not being able to correct it.1 point

Thanks - So this is interesting as it's actually a new (to me..) Dolby Vision Profile that I needed to add - Profile 10 which I had not seen before as I don't use AV1 currently. I've only tested on a single demo file, and it added 'DV10' into the title as I expected it to. v1.0.2.3 - Added support for Dolby Vision profile 10 Emby.MediaInfo.dll Please copy your original DLL and replace with the above and let me know how it goes, you may need to reprocess the items it missed.1 point

@Lukehave you any timeline / project or something to know how many times will we wait for it ? Please keep us in touch1 point

Someone else had created this so credit goes to them. I just didn't like that the image had a black background (instead of transparent) and that it wasn't quite right to scale. Re-created it with transparency etc. Affinity .af file attached to use as template for changing out the images however you see fit. LiveTV.af1 point

Version 2.0.5 (3) is now released and has resolved this issue. Thank you.1 point

This would be good for if you have a TV series that is incomplete in your collection. Lets say you only have 2 seasons of a 3 season show, when you click on the show it has a section that says "Seasons 1-2 available on Emby ", "Watch Season 3 via Hulu". So if someone is watching a show and they want to continue to seasons you don't have yet they will know which streaming service to use to watch the remaining seasons. Not sure how plausible this is but I see when you look a show up on google they have a similar Where To Watch section, you might be able to utilize that1 point

I just felt like sharing that I finally have been able to get Alexa working with emby. I have been using plex but was informed that in June they’ll be discontinuing the Alexa plex skill. So I wanted to find an alternative right away. thanks to the managed vps slot I have, the emby installation was easy, and to get it working with Alexa I had to input 443 as the public https port, then choose Handled By Reverse Proxy in the Secure Connection mode area. Also had to put my vps domain in the External Domain field. Then restarted the emby server, relinked the skill with Alexa and it worked! I hope this works for a while hehe I haven’t experimented with playlists yet and it would be nice if I could play random albums instead of it being a song by song basis when I asked Alexa to play some music. But it’s not bad!1 point

Hi, it has been a long while. I understand the frustration. I will send the same message here that I have been trying to send to users of this plugin. Due to unforeseen life circumstances, I haven't be able to be part of this amazing community for many years now. Boy, do I miss writing code for Emby, what a great time it was, and I look back on it fondly as a high point in my life. Meeting great people, and writing code that people actually liked. I'll make this plugin repo public on my GitHub, for anyone who would like to take it on, or any of the emby plugins posted there. Thank you again to all for an absolutely amazing decade of writing code, and allowing me to take part. It really was a great ride! Thank you. chefbennyj.1 point

New minor release - Version 3.3.2.0 Download .dll and full release notes: https://github.com/soderlund91/HomeScreenCompanion/releases/tag/v3.3.2.0 This updates contain some fixes and some requested features. Biggest one is that we are now able to build a home section row of selected collections as image below: IMPORTANT! Minimum required Emby server v4.10.0.8 Note Make sure to back up your settings before updating, just in case. Note Included a .NET V6 release, this is for MacOS or legacy support. This version is NOT tested. Release notes Improvements/updates Added ability to only show selected collections as a Home screen section. This way you can choose one or multiple collections to show on the home screen (no need to display all of them). See below how to set this up Cleanup menu Made the tags and collections clickable links to its own view (open in new tab) Added a filter for Tags Added a small popup/hover over the name that simply explains where the tag originated Fixes Fixed an issue in the cleanup where tags for some media types didn't populate the list. (Extras is now included with an "include extras" option.) Fixed an issue where blacklist didn't get applied when running a single group sync UI Remade the "Update available" to be dismissible. If dismissed a smaller discreet text will still be visible. _____________________________________________ Below is how to set up a home screen section with selected collections: Source = local collection / *Select what collections to include* Tag = *random tag name* (the selections on what level to tag will be ignored by the plugin) Collection tab: leave blank Blasklist tab: will probably not work **Important!** Home screen section tab: set media type to "Collections", you can play around with all other options Special thanks to @Aleasfor helping out with testing! +1 This would be very useful; I'm going to try Vic's tool for now. EDIT: I tried Vic's tool, I do apricate his hard work but it is very hard to use. It shouldn't be a reason not to implement this feature request as native functionality1 point

The requirement for batch editing metadata function has been around for many years and has not been developed yet. This feature shouldn't be difficult, and the functional requirements are also what many people want!!!1 point

Bro, this isn't my first time in a forum. I know what I'm doing. (seriously though, thanks for the reminder. I forgot.)1 point

I feel like I'm screaming into the void, but I'd like to add my vote here as well.1 point
-
It would be fantastic to have the ability to add people to a series or movie in bulk, or to copy the cast and crew from one season to another with just a few clicks. Currently, adding people has to be done one by one, and in large productions, there can be a significant number of people to add. The plugin that comes closest to addressing this need is Bulky Editor, but unfortunately, this plugin does not include the option to add people. Therefore, I fully support the idea of Emby introducing its own feature for bulk metadata editing, including the ability to copy people and metadata from one season to another. This would be incredibly helpful.1 point
-
That may be your desire, and that would be fine, but there are many other people in this thread that are asking for more complete metadata editing. And given Emby's famously opaque dev process, I'm just putting in my vote that they not focus on any of this and instead, as @ebr noted a screen or two above, focus on other functionality.0 points
-
I hope the Emby development team continues to delay or completely abandon this idea. Emby is wonderful server software, not library software. Everyone who wants bulk editing of metadata should download MP3tag or a similar program and edit their media files to their heart's content, with the added benefit that if a user changes server software in the future, their data files will still reflect the edited metadata.0 points
