Major release - Version 3.0.0.1. Download .dll here and full changelog: https://github.com/soderlund91/HomeScreenCompanion/releases/tag/v3.0.0.1 This release contains major updates, improvements and bug fixes. New name - Home Screen Companion Read why below. Warning No longer support for Emby server version 4.9.x.x. Requires 4.10+ How to update from AutoTag (Optional/Recommended) Download a backup from the plugins settings menu Download HomeScreenCompanion.dll and put it in your /plugins folder. Remove AutoTag.dll from /plugins folder Restart Emby (Optional) If everything has migrated well you can remove AutoTag.xml.old from /plugins/configurations folder _____________________________________ New Home Screen manager: Added a new function that copies the home screen sections from a selected user to others. You no longer need to manually edit the home screen for multiple users. For example, if you create a tag or collection that you want to show on the home screen, you now only need to set it up for one user and then automatically copy it to all selected users in one go. Unlike Emby’s built-in copy function, this only copies the home screen sections. Improvements Local media information: Added ability to match with "NOT" logic. For example, you can filter movies that do not speak English. Local media information: Added an info popup with help to understand the symbols for equal, greater etc. Schedule override: Added ability to override a tag/collection based on schedule. Example: if you use the tag "spotlight", but for Halloween you want that to override during October and also use the tag "spotlight". Then the ordinary spotlight tag will become inactive, and only the Halloween one will get the tag spotlight. (If multiple overrides are used at the same time and for the same tag, they will be combined) Emby's scheduled tasks: Moved the tasks from "Library" into a separate Home Screen Companion title Fixes: Collection images: Uploaded images are now deleted when unused. Bug fix: Fixed a bug where you could select a non-existing date in the recurring schedule, for example Feb 31. v3.0.0.1: fixed a bug for home screen copy if the source and copy to was the same. Now prevented _____________________________________________________ Why change the name? What started as a simple script to add tags from an external list has grown into much more. The plugin is now also used to create collections, and a "smart playlist" feature has been implemented using local media information. The idea behind this plugin was originally to create tags to use in conjunction with Emby’s new Home Screen Sections. I mainly build this plugin for my own needs. My goal is to have a plugin that helps manage and automate the home screen as much as possible. Now that I’m adding the ability to actually manage the home screen directly, I feel that the original name no longer describes the plugin accurately. It's still the same plugin, just with more and more functionality being added. However, it is evolving into a companion for managing the home screen — hence the name. HomeScreenCompanion.dll3 points

I know i promised that i would get an update out with a fix for the light theme (menu not visible). I got carried away when working on the plugin so I ended up building in some big improvements aswell. So it might take another day or two until next release with that fix, just use dark theme until then if its a big issue. Sorry about the trouble, but... Teaser for next release. Now we can manage each users home screen sections directly from the plugin. We can move the sections and adjust the order. This function is completed and works like a charm! Curently working on a way to create a home screen section directly from the Tag and Collection menu. So when we create an entry for a tag or collection, there will be an option to also create a home screen section for this entry and select what users to give it to. Next step is then to adjust order (with the function above) for one user, and then copy it to all others. All this could possibly be automated aswell. If i can get this working, it will be a HUGE improvement from Embys native way of doing this at the moment.2 points

YOU DO NOT START A SERVER VIA A WEB BROWSER Open the damn folder you've been given and run the exe file inside like every other program you start on a computer, and like you've been told to multiple times now. ---- Then follow the rest of the instructions and post the god damn log file. Why are you not following instructions???? We cannot help you if you're not going to read or follow the directions you're given.2 points

I must say I am also very satisfied. 4K works, live TV with the TVH plugin works. No crashes. Very good work.2 points

It would be great to have Emby as a music provider for Music Assistant: https://music-assistant.io/ I'm forced to use Jellyfin as a provider for now: https://github.com/orgs/music-assistant/discussions/583 It probably wouldn't take too much effort to adapt the existing Jellyfin provider to the Emby API: https://github.com/music-assistant/server/tree/dev/music_assistant/server/providers/jellyfin1 point

I want to use URLs like the following for the IPTV with DASH-Steams (MPD-files). The benefit of this URLs is that I can shift the time, e.g. when I missed the beginning of a TV show etc. #EXTINF:-1 tvg-name="Das Erste HD" tvg-id="DasErste.de" group-title="Vollprogramm" tvg-logo="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jnk22/kodinerds-iptv/master/logos/tv/daserstehd.png",Das Erste HD #KODIPROP:inputstreamaddon=inputstream.adaptive #KODIPROP:inputstream.adaptive.manifest_type=mpd http://daserste-live.ard-mcdn.de/daserste/replay/dash/de/manifest.mpd This is currently not working, so I use files like the follwing instead of MPD-files: #EXTINF:-1 tvg-name="Das Erste HD" tvg-id="DasErste.de" group-title="IPTV-DE" tvg-logo="https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jnk22/kodinerds-iptv/master/logos/tv/daserstehd.png",Das Erste HD https://daserste-live.ard-mcdn.de/daserste/live/hls/de/master.m3u8 => It would be nice if DASH-Stream (MPD-file) Support could be added. I attached basic files for the IPTV DASH.m3u Normal.m3u1 point

I'm not aware of any region specific delay so once they launch it will be for everywhere. I don't know how long it will take. It has been in this state for several weeks now. Sometimes it's 2-3 weeks, other times a couple of months.1 point

Ahhh got it thanks @FrostByte. If it was a server to replace my Windows 11 machine with the added benefit of superior audio processing, I might consider it, but it feels like just another device I'd need to manage. I get that might get around the very slow Tizen app issues we have as we're trying to avoid the continuous sideload issue. Thanks for the advice.1 point

For device model years 2022 and older, the 2.2.8 update is approved and is waiting launch. So we are just waiting for Samsung to do that.1 point
-
@FrostByteand @LukeI appreciate your advice, but I'll say it again, we've all "done that" (sideloaded, timebomb, sideloaded, timebomb, sideload, timebomb etc etc) and are getting a little *over* Samsungs lack of movement especially given they restrict sideload apps to 1 month. They cant have it both ways if they want to keep loyal customers. That's why we've been banging on to see if we can get the legit store (for me, NZ Store) nailed please. I get it's out of your hands but surely someone can address this as it's getting very old. Cheers1 point

Dude, I don’t know if you’re trolling us all but you’ve got a lot of people who are trying to help you here. No detail is too small and show us what IP address your browser is trying to connect to.1 point

Refund him/her and move on? <sigh> Emby team should consider selling support tickets.1 point

Shouldn't be impossible. Must admit i hadn't thought about it at all and it's actually a pretty needed feature.1 point

I've another request, should you be up for the challenge... My previous transcode killer had the option of only kicking VIDEO transcodes, as those are the CPU/GPU killers. Transcoding AUDIO for a 4k stream is sometimes required due to codec/client support, but is far less taxing to the server, and generally does not cause any serious impact. Are you able to check for the type of transcode AUDIO/VIDEO and allow a toggle for ALLOWING or PREVENTING each type based on resolution as before? Many thanks!1 point

Figured that was the case. Haven't had time to do serious troubleshooting over the past few weeks. I've tried the suggestions from CoPilot, but those haven't worked. I'll keep revisiting until I get it figured out.1 point

Probably my mistake.. It was like almost 2am I was pretty tired and stressed trying to get that fix out Best way to test is by navigating to the Home Screen settings in the plugin and check if the selected user in source user is grayed out in the “sync to” section. If so, you have the latest update. Not sure why this happened.. I rebuilt the .dll with no changes to the code and now it works. Thanks for reporting! Edit: Updated the dll on github and attached here aswell. No real need to update if it work as above. I'm gonna put out another bugfix later today/tonight with the reported bug for light theme where the menu doesnt show. HomeScreenCompanion.dll1 point

HI, I guess it depends on your thought process about this, and whether channel up/down means up/down visually or in terms of up/down channel numbers.1 point

HI, apologies for the delay. We should have a server update out soon to resolve this. Thanks.1 point

@NCC1701A Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!1 point

@soderlund91The top row, where you select between Tag & Collection, Home Screen, and Settings, is white text on a white background for the unselected options. I just happened to hover over one and it turned grey.1 point

@NeminemOver the weekend I will check on the bios side as I do not want to try to do that during the week since all is good. I have multiple epg providers b/c I have a mix of channels that cover many areas. Yes that can take quite a while for a guide update but please explain what you mean by "fight about time slots" as it relates to the application starting up the first time? Not sure what you mean by this. Thank!!!1 point

I have the exact same problem, but with audio books (it seems that they are working similarly to music albums). I have given parental ratings to all audio books I have and configured my child's account with a proper rating. It's working fine for TV Shows and Movies but for audio books the Audio Books (aka Albums) tab is always empty. I've found that un-selecting this option (from the screenshot below) fixes the Audio Books tab, but it displays all audio books no matter the parental rating. It looks like music/audiobooks libraries don't "see" parental ratings and tags properly. As I already said, it's working perfectly for TV Shows and Movies Emby Server 4.9.3.0, all clients (Android, iPad OS, Web)1 point

Hi! Im gonna take a stab in the dark here.. But is it possible that you have surpassed the amount of devices you can have Emby on? N.1 point

Just pinging this thread to check back on any progress for a native AAOS client. FYI: I have sideloaded the Emby Android client onto my Chevrolet and it works quite well, a few screen navigation issues but I am able to connect to my home Emby Server and watch videos while parked. Currently my vehicle is on AAOS v12, but AAOS v14 just came out for it and I have heard that they may have closed the path that allowed sideloading so may loose Emby once I upgrade.1 point

hi I was able to fix it with the help of this post I unchecked "update Trakt watched history during Scheduled Task" and only then the save button worked to save my new key, before that the save button was never triggering the emby service on trakt side not sure why. after that saved and appeared I turned the option on again and it's been working since1 point

Is there any way to access my favorites? I click on "favorites" at the top and nothing happens. I have some other add-ons installed and I'd like to have them easily accessible in my favorites.1 point

Sorry if I was not clear, but what I'm trying to say is that if Emby supported the Subsonic API—which is widely supported by dozens of apps—then any apps that work with the API will work with Emby, without the need for Emby devs to worry about creating/supporting a separate music app. For example, Navidrome is completely separate from Subsonic—platform, developer, etc.—but it supports the Subsonic API: https://www.navidrome.org/docs/developers/subsonic-api/ So any app that works with Subsonic works with Navidrome, more or less. In fact, there is no Navidrome app: it completely relies upon existing apps that support the Subsonic API. Funkwhale also supports the Subsonic API: https://docs.funkwhale.audio/developers/subsonic.html As does Ampache: https://github.com/ampache/ampache/wiki/subsonic There are probably more, but these are the ones with which I'm most familiar as they were all ones I considered before migrating from Subsonic to Emby. So, even ignoring all of the *sonic clones, the API is widely supported.1 point
