Yo! Sorry for the delay! Media fire are basically talking rubbish. They claimed infringment first, I queried their own terms and they basically lied. I'm in the process of looking at a new host but with 2tb of themes, it's proving a little trickier than I'd like. That said, I'm also looking at better moderation as I'm getting a bit sick of random trailers being uploaded so I might look to open contributions to key people that get auto added then have a moderation pile that has to be manually checked before it's made public. I have quite a few ideas in the pipeline but would ideally like to sort the hosting bit out first before I go changing the upload and moderation structure.3 points

Emby Premiere Feature Matrix The reason there aren't more tools around seeing or managing the Premiere devices is because this is not an issue for 95%+ of our users because, when used as intended/licensed, it just isn't an issue. Therefore, we have not spent the development time on it which would take away from time spent on features that 95% can use.2 points

Ok that is a good point, I will test if wiring the TV will be any different. Thanks for the suggestion. Most of the media I was testing was around 24mbps2 points

From a security perspective this would be great. Locking down emby behind a vpn is uncomfortable, opening it directly to the internet is rather risky, but Pangolin and custom proxy headers would be a nice compromise between comfort and security.2 points

Hi, I am trying to access my music folders via Emby (on Synology) on Android Auto, however the result is not easy to use. While after clicking on Folders (see attached image ending in 237) I see my all folders, these are mixed with music file names, making it not easy to find things. Please see pictures attached ending in 428. Is there a way to ensure when clicking on Folders in the menu, all the folders appear in a list followed by any music files that may be in the same folder? Many thanks1 point

@@Luke stated in a previous post (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/49933-replaygain-music-support/) adding support for this could easily be done for at least the theater client seeing as the player used already supports replaygain. I'm making this feature request in hopes that this support is added, as I have no dev experience myself1 point

ah thanks for your reply, I have a Plex lifetime sub so I will revisit Emby when this feature arrives.1 point

If you fix you mp3 tags with Mp3tag you don't need to edit artist / albums / songs going forward.1 point

That's odd. So, this is my setup: Emby Server installed on a Synology NAS 1821+ with 32GB RAM. My LG G5 is currently running on the latest available firmware but it didn't work with the previous version either. I can initiate another test run later and provide the corresponding log files afterward. My LG TV is connected to the internal network via LAN and accesses the NAS hosting the Emby server directly. All other media files play without any issues; the freeze occurs exactly 10 seconds into playback only when the file contains a DTS audio track that Emby transcodes to AC3 at 384 kbps. I have already performed a fresh installation of the app, but this did not resolve the issue.1 point

Luke will have to confirm but the implementation of "Add user preference to exclude libraries from search" changed and is a global library setting that only affects "User" accounts. Not sure if there would be a way to ignore specific library/Item stats that users have access too.1 point

As I'm not a native speaker I used Gemini to translate my opinion, so your feeling about AI is correct. I'm sorry that you feel offended by my input. However, good luck to you.1 point

Thanks @Luke. Embarrassingly, I may have misreported this issue for the Windows and Xbox app. The left panel "Home" view on the app actually looks like this (it does not when using the Emby server GUI in Edge). The left panel on the "Dashboard" has never displayed incorrect categories for me using the Windows and Xbox app. I'll keep my future posts about this "issue" in the "Emby Beta Server" forum.1 point

Please ignore, turned it on this morning and it's now showing as albums, must have resolved itself with an overnight scan.1 point

OK this is progress. @Luke- Here is the regex that Truenas uses to decide versions: customVersioning( // 1.2.3.0, but not 1.2.3.4 (4th digit != 0 equals beta) "^(?<major>\\d+)\\.(?<minor>\\d+)\\.(?<patch>\\d+)\\.0$", ["emby/embyserver"], ), If you guys stick with this, I think this whole problem goes away!1 point

I can confirm that I was not able to view trailers and had been (forever) using Emby 2.1.23 on my CCwGTV. Not until this post where Luke suggested installing Emby for Android did I realize there were two versions and how old the version was that I was using. As soon as I did the upgrade, the trailers functioned as expected.1 point

Currently, no. But I would say it's fairly easy to do manually by editing the pictures/metadata of the collection once it has been created. I will look into the possibility of implementing this, since a few of you have asked for it. As I'm playing and using the plugin myself, I notice some things along the way that need to improve. Currently on my to-to is: An easier way to move objects in the manual sorting. A filter option (for example, only show collections, scheduled, etc.). By request: improved collection handling — poster, description, and general metadata. Support for more sources. And a major thing I want to do — if it will be supported by the Emby API — is to add an option to create a home screen section directly from the plugin (Emby Server 4.10+). This would be a killer feature, at least for my use case. So those are my thoughts. What started with only tags might end up as an overall "home screen manager." We'll see down the road how this evolves and how much time I get, but it always good to have an ambition!1 point

@LukeJust a friendly reminder that this EOF issue with MKVs has been around for quite a while.1 point

I have PMed EBR with the test file. I can still recreate the wrong subtitle track being displayed when streaming via HLS.1 point

I'm glad to hear that. It would be great if Emby could resolve this issue.1 point

it has - I found that there is an issue somewhere re port forwarding. the ip changes and the router isn't redirecting to the server like it previously would1 point

Sorry, you're not the hall monitor. Lots of users want 2FA in Emby, the way it is in virtually every other major app we use these days.1 point

Hello, most of my client apps have now updated to reflect the change made in 4.9.3.0: Update mixed content tabs to combine Movies & Shows This has obviously combined both the Movies and Shows tab into one - is there a way to reverse this so they are split again? As far as I’m aware, in the current configuration there’s no way to browse all TV Shows or Movies separately.1 point

Hi, there currently isn't an option but I expect that we will be adding one. Thanks.1 point

So SmartViews are now in beta - with some great traction. User selectable rows are now possible - which great BUT there still is no easy way to convert a Playlist item into a Watch List but I'm hoping that is next. Infact, I'll raise on the HomeScreen thread to bump it. edit - Infact there is - it's already been implemented which I must have missed. You can show a row as a Single Playlist - thus repurposing a 'Playlist' as a watchlist has become a reality. The only thing missing is the ability to add a TV Series/Shows as opposed to individual episoses. I'll raise this instead.. but we are well on the way ! edit - raised here -1 point

Emby recently added a new season view that changes how users can access episodes and view seasons. On the surface it looks good, however, Emby removed some functionality: 1) unwatched episode count no longer appears; 2) Users can no longer access the season context menu to make edits. IMO, both of these CAN be added, but since Emby doesn't plan to add them, I'm in the "Don't plan to use" group, and I'm interested to hear what others think. Unfortunately, it appears polls have been removed, so to vote, use these emojis: Yes: Like No: Agree Maybe: Confused Mobile/Web View TV View Where to find the option Go to Display and scroll to bottom and you'll see a drop down for Preferred TV Show display. Edit: Go to http://app.emby.media. That web app gets updated more frequently than the local server web app.1 point

FYI I'm working on a patch to update to the latest version and improve parts of the official freebsd package, and will probably be taking over maintenance of the package from now on.1 point

The problem with a vpn is the firewalls of the place where you are. If you are in a different country and you have no data, you must rely on the public WiFi. But many public WiFi has only certain ports open. Usually it's the common ports like 80/443. Therefore a vpn connection can not be made thru these firewalls. I had that same issue when I was on holiday.0 points

Personally I would let the application do what they do best. Meaning that emby is very perfect for showing movies and TV series etc, not security. Security is a very different and different issues that other applications are are much better at what they do. I think that emby should made a bit more plugins for authentications type. Maybe like Openid Connect, SAML or Oauth. Then people can make there own choice how they let users connect secure on țheir ten platform. Also, I never let an application like emby or other apps connect directly to the Internet using only a NAT. Then within few hours you definitely get hacked or infiltrate on your local LAN. Always use a reverse proxy and DMZ. And if that it too complicated, just use a VPN like wireguard or openvpn. Hope this close the issue regarding "does emby needs a MFA/2FA".0 points
