  1. That would only be valid when there would be a TVnext entry in that list that would also exist for 10 years already and it would be ranging behind. The SmartPlaylist entry has 165 votes. When you sum up the votes from all the feature requests that TVnext fulfills or enables (by providing the technical basis), then you get a result of 315, which is almost double. And those requests are just a fraction of what it actually delivers in total. Eventually, it's not "a feature", it's a package of dozens of features. That there aren't more related requests in the Feature Request forum is surely also because these would have seemed too unrealistic to even post a request for, since the current live tv doesn't have a basis upon which such features could be built and delivered. So please Grim, excuse me contradicting. I haven't posted in this conversation for a long time, but in this case, the relations need to be set straight. SmartPlaylists being a feature that is more requested (by votes) or has a higher demand (in general) is a view that doesn't hold true in any way. At the bottom line, the point where it gets wrong is when trying to compare these two things in the first place.

  2. I'm unsure where does that attitude come from or what did I do to offend you so, but to clarify: Question was: Your answer was: Which is evidently odd (and should've stated No) as member who posted that question was confused as well: You did state clearly which app, there's no confusion there. But the way in which you've replied was what I was referring to.

  3. Had to resort to Google as the ~7 passing references found with the forum search. Seems to be a way to build collections/playlists based on customizable criteria. I am sure I would use that at least once a decade...

  4. Similar to this old post, I'm suggesting a tab that would be titled Watchlist and could be placed in between Suggestions and Favorites. The functionality would pretty much be a copy of Favorites, just with a + symbol added next to the heart and other symbols that let you favorite a movie etc. The previous post had mentioned extra functionality such as automatically removing a movie from Watchlist after it has been watched. This would be nice, but is unnecessary because after watching a movie you can simply click the + symbol a second time to remove it from Watchlist. I would imagine this would be very easy to implement as a rebranded copy of Favorites. Adding other features could come later. Edit: added link to old post

  6. I'm in the same boat as you so i will try and find a solution for it though! @LukeSorry to bother but do you have any plans on fixing the toast message timeout so one can be set and have it working?
    1 point
  7. That's an awesome idea. However, for purely selfish reasons (as both myself and my household watch all media subtitled, that'd automatically exclude using trivia.srt) I'd prefer it to be sent/displayed as a toast. But I understand that I'm a minority, the only other groups I could think of, that might prefer it as I do, would be other foreign users and HoH/SDH users for whom subs are also a necessity. Either way - great idea.

  9. The Emby devs built this feature without giving a second thought to those who used the Plugin initially to get this feature. My advice is to ditch the built in setting if you have already been using the Plugin and continue to use the Plugin, or spend time deleting your library and scanning it in with JUST the built in feature.

  10. I'll take your word on that, as I honestly have no time nor inclination to sum up multiple requests (thanks for doing that, btw - although I don't consider that to be a fair comparison, single request vs. multiple requests summed, as subset of users interested in LiveTV will likely have voted in multiple - if not all - related requests hence you're likely getting multiple votes per member; while not strictly apples-to-oranges comparison, more akin to apples-to-pears, it's still somewhat valid argument), as far as I'm concerned, FR forum sorted by number of reactions is a list which is relevant enough. And not being part of a Developer team, that does suffice. I'm also aware that the Dev team doesn't have that luxury and has to take multiple requests (and not only requests but topics like this which fall outside of strictly FR created) and take all that under consideration - and I'm actually glad I don't have to. And not either using LiveTV nor being familiar with what improvements would TV Next bring (or wouldn't) to various requests, I can only trust you on your word, as said above. But still, hardly anyone could convince me that improvement to a portion of server (LiveTV) would be more beneficial to Emby Server platform as a whole than current focus (which'll hopefully allow for Home Screen - literal front-face of Emby - revamp/custom categories/lists that SmartViews could theoretically enable in practically myriad of ways ). So let's agree to disagree and leave it at that. I know you've put a lot of effort in TVNext and I would sincerely like that it was implemented long ago (if it were feasible) as a token of appreciation for all of your work, but as it stands right now, in current moment in time, my vote goes for SmartViews - however unpopular opinion in this particular topic that might be. Regards Edit for edit: Intention was not to compare anything - nor I was - as stated in my previous post, I was not questioning validity of this topic nor counter-argumenting it, just providing a reference to members unfamiliar with it and questioning why it was current focus/having priority/being worked on in the first place.

  11. Thanks for the great work @Luke -- I was wondering why the new "Fire TV Stick 4K Select" was more than $10AUD cheaper than the Fire TV Stick I bought myself only 2 days prior to ordering the 4K Select for a friend -- he is now unable to install Emby at all (in Australia). Emby and Emby for Fire-Stick show up as suggestions when searching the Amazon App Store but clicking on either search result displays other streamers like Plex -- Emby is not even shown for a possible install. I thought Emby may have upset Amazon in some way I hope the Linux/Vega version of Emby isn't too far away

  12. Thanks for the feedback! I wouldn't navigate using Folder View for an alphabetical structure either. It's redundant to the "Movies"/"Shows" view at that point. I still don't understand what benefit the more "accurate" folder structure offers in terms of choosing a particular location from which to start a rescan, since the change only affects single-title-folders and you could still refresh the underlying content regardless of whether the single-title-folders were collapsed or not. It would seem to be more useful for TV shows (to only rescan a particular season) than movies. Which @Luke wants to build anyway, but didn't get there yet. (Regardless, I still want a fix to toggle the collapsing folder option back in. I'm just glad that I actually understand one potential use case of how this new style might be beneficial.) Although mixed content libraries are certainly affected by this change, it really affects anyone who uses Folder View as a user (i.e. navigating and playing content). As for your distaste of a mixed library, rest assured, you seem to be in the majority. For me, I have a lot of crossover titles that are exceedingly frustrating to fit into a tv+specials schema to make it all fit nicely together in the same place--as such, the mixed content library is definitely preferable for me. And I especially enjoy that I can directly pull up a genre without having to decide ahead of time if I want to watch a movie or a tv show. But as has been discussed on this post and several other related topics previously, being able to have the choice of how to organize the titles is what everyone really seems to appreciate the most.

  13. No those are individual field locks and they are unlocked per no color and lock is open but hard to see. Locked field Independent of full metadata lock at bottom.

  14. IIRC it was removed from Edit metadata dialog sometime during 4.6+ cycle few years ago due to a change in as how collection data is stored in the db. Edit: Needed a minute to find an old image.

  15. No @Lukehas not exposed that field in metadata editor.

  16. No, I don't believe it has a similar setting like the AndroidTV app. If it's an unsupported audio format and you allow it to passthrough then devices like the Shield can convert the audio PCM 2.0, but if you're wanting to convert all audio to stereo then I don't believe it can. It's now the list of things for the devs to consider adding which ATV already has though.

  17. I think this is an important consideration. I use Folder view quite often, BUT it is mainly to Refresh Metadata and Scan Library Files at the relevant parent folder level when I add new media or update info. This is mostly preferable for me instead of scanning a whole large library which is usually not necessary and usually takes a lot longer. Therefore having the Folder view replicate the actual Folder/File structure is probably more useful to me. For my larger libraries, I use a top-level alphabetical structure e.g. #,A,B,C,D... When i reach 500 items for a folder, this gets split even further e.g. J(a-m), J(n-z) at the top-level, for admin purposes only. For navigating/browsing/consuming media, I use anything and everything EXCEPT Folder view - Collections, Playlists, Genres, Tags, detail pages... This is where Emby shines for me and I can customize and navigate as I wish. As long as I can still use Folder view for my admin tasks, I don't think the discussed changes will bother me personally either way. For anyone that uses Folder view as their main method for organizing/browsing their media, I can see that any changes that have messed up their "system" would be quite annoying. This is why having additional UI options (although potentially complex) can sometimes be very important. Recently there was a similar scenario with Collections, where users were split into two camps. The Emby solution was the new "Group By" function to keep both camps happy. (This has great potential to be used elsewhere in the future.) That is why options, if technically possible, are useful - no one is alienated when default functionality changes. Well thought out options may also entice new customers from major competitors that do not offer the same feature set - therefore a win-win for Emby and everyone else!

  18. It seems I've finally got it working the way I wanted. It took some effort, but I've managed it. There's just one thing that's bothering me a bit, and I don't know if it's possible to fix it. I don't have access to the server to install Companion, and I don't need it anyway. Is there any way to prevent that message from popping up every time I start Kodi? Thanks

  20. I'm sorry @ebr, but I still don't understand this huge change within the same version. Years ago, when we switched from MediaBrowser (10 or 15 years ago, I don't remember exactly) to Emby, we all understood it was a change in philosophy and how metadata was handled, and we accepted it, just as if it were a possible change from version 4 to the upcoming version 5 of Emby. We followed the rules for how the folders had to be organized, and now many of us are frustrated. In all these years, I don't think there's been such a big change that has caused so much displeasure. Please, what I would like to know is if a solution to this problem is being sought, or if those of us still on version 4.8 will continue to be unable to update in the future. (I say all this with the utmost respect and admiration for your hard work and Luke's.)

  26. Hello The new version of the plugin is available on GitHub. This version is compatible with the official website APIs. Important: To use the plugin, you will need to go to the plugin settings page and set the API Key. This website uses an API key to control and limit the number of search and subtitle download requests. This plugin is only a connector to that service. Please visit https://subsource.net and create a user account. Then, at the bottom of the page of https://subsource.net/dashboard/profile, you can generate an API key for yourself. 27. Hi, I’m also having this same issue with a fire stick I just bought. I’m based in Australia however. I can only see the Emby app and not the Emby for Fire TV app on my appstore on the fire stick, and it says it’s not compatible with my fire stick when i try to download via my phone

  31. In NPM under the advanced tab on your emby entry, Make sure you use the following: tcp_nodelay on; ## Sends data as fast as it can not buffering large chunks sendfile off; ## sendfile not used in a proxy env proxy_buffering off; ## Not needed for Emby I did a write up earlier on NPM when i tested it out. It should still apply if you want the entire config converted into NPM. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/93074-how-to-emby-with-nginx-with-csp-options/page/11/#findComment-1364019

  32. @plessers@gmail.com If your using NPM you need to setup a custom location for emby and ideally you also use advanced. I just spun up a docker container to test this, it works great, nice interface but I am old school and prefer nginx config files. Under Advanced tab use this: include mime.types; default_type application/octet-stream; server_tokens off; sendfile off; ##sendfile not used in a proxy env proxy_buffering off; gzip on; ## Compresses the content to the client, speeds up client browsing. gzip_disable "msie6"; gzip_comp_level 6; gzip_min_length 1100; gzip_buffers 16 8k; gzip_proxied any; gzip_types text/plain text/css text/js text/xml text/javascript application/javascript application/x-javascript application/json application/xml application/rss+xml image/svg+xml; proxy_connect_timeout 1h; proxy_send_timeout 1h; proxy_read_timeout 1h; tcp_nodelay on; ## Sends data as fast as it can not buffering large chunks Under custom location use this: location / { proxy_pass http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8096; ## Enter the IP and port of the backend emby server here. client_max_body_size 1000M; ## Allows for mobile device large photo uploads. proxy_hide_header X-Powered-By; ## Hides nginx server version from bad guys. proxy_set_header Range $http_range; ## Allows specific chunks of a file to be requested. proxy_set_header If-Range $http_if_range; ## Allows specific chunks of a file to be requested. proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; ## Passes the real client IP to the backend server. #proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $http_CF_Connecting_IP; ## if you use cloudflare un-comment this line and comment out above line. proxy_set_header Host $host; ## Passes the requested domain name to the backend server. proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; ## Adds forwarded IP to the list of IPs that were forwarded to the backend server. ## ADDITIONAL SECURITY SETTINGS ## ## Optional settings to improve security ## ## add these after you have completed your testing and ssl setup ## ## NOTICE: For the Strict-Transport-Security setting below, I would recommend ramping up to this value ## ## See https://hstspreload.org/ read through the "Deployment Recommendations" section first! ## add_header 'Referrer-Policy' 'origin-when-cross-origin'; add_header Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=15552000; preload" always; add_header X-Frame-Options "SAMEORIGIN" always; add_header X-Content-Type-Options "nosniff" always; add_header X-XSS-Protection "1; mode=block" always; ## WEBSOCKET SETTINGS ## Used to pass two way real time info to and from emby and the client. proxy_http_version 1.1; proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade; proxy_set_header Connection $http_connection; } If your still having issues, its possible your client or server is limiting the bitrate. Double check your emby settings for that.

  33. Hello everyone, I would like to be able to display two subtitle tracks at the same time. There are browser extensions that do this for Netflix but I would like to have this feature in Emby. Having the option to choose a secondary subtitle track would be great. I watch a lot of media for language learning. For me this would be very useful. Let's see how popular this feature request will get or how hard it would be to implement. Cheers!

  34. Hi all, First of all a huge congratulations for this magnificent software in free access. Secondly, I bring my modest contribution by sharing with you my work on Photoshop with regard to genre thumbnails. This includes a PSD file to create your own thumbnails with the typo file and background image. Also includes the 16 thumbnails in png format that I created for myself, in French only. Preview on emby : Downloading the zip file (7.6Mo): Vignettes-Genres.zip Sorry for my bad English, I use Google Trad... Best wishes.

  35. Again there is nothing wrong with my post other than maybe a coma after the yes. Grimm's post should have never been made or he should have simply pointed out I forgot the coma. Now as for the apps the main way I tell them apart aside from checking inside the app itself (which I did) is the 3.5.17 when clicked starts with a gray screen for about 2 seconds then launches into Emby. The 2.1.28 when clicked immediately starts with the spinning green wheel of Emby's then launches into the app. The app row on the Fire TV list the most recently used starting with the last used. 3.5.17 is before 2.1.28 in that row. 3.5.17 is the one that does not stutter. I've tested with 3 different movies my roommate tried to watch on the 2.1.28 and had to switch to 3.5.17.

You guys get to make jokes when you stop bowing down to load Luke and actually fix items that need fixing regardless of of the amount of request for it. It clearly state yes to your question that it Emby For Android without the stutter.

  39. And it very likely is, considering SmartPlaylists have been the most voted Feature Request for quite some time now (and hopefully SmartViews will expand on that to include Collections, Home Screen revamp etc...). And No.1 Feature Request certainly (at least it should) carries more weight than any other (LiveTV improvements included) and is indicative of a wider userbase. Devoting development resources towards that is completely understandable business strategy. I'm not debating validity of this topic nor I have anything against it, just providing some realistic perspective. That's still once more than I'll use LiveTV (or have used it in a decade), so there's that.
