If I just had more time - I would love to restore the earlier Halloween theme, including its sound effects of course...6 points

.......with an option to disable it. To be honest - what I liked most was the fact that it always came totally unexpected. At one time, I had switched off the TV but not the amplifier, and Emby was still running. Then, while I was sleeping, it was time for the Halloween theme to become active (like every year) - playing those haunted sounds occasionally. With the amp volume left at a pretty high, position, those sounds made their way through all the rooms. After waking up just slowly, it took me quite some time until I realized what it was . It was the most freightening Halloween moment I ever experienced (probably also the only one) - that was so great. In later years, twice or thrice when I had guests at that time, I left the amp on for the nightr... I'm not the type to think like "oh, it's getting xmas time, now I need to switch Emby to the Holiday theme" - but when it happens automatically, while you didn't expect it, it's always a nice surprise - at least that's how I'm seeing it. That being said - of course it must be possible to disable thiat behavior. At that time, there was an option like "Disable seasonal theme change" (or similar). And of course you could switch to (and away from) those themes manually. On top of that, the sound effects could be disabled independently. From my point of view it was perfect like it was - something I don't say too often, hehe... ...but wait - it's not perfect, becasee it's gone now3 points

It's also visible on a Samsung smart TV... and I find it ugly and unprofessional. I agree that if it's going to be there, it should be optional. Today I put on a movie and decided to fast-forward... and there it was, the pumpkin. While I'm at it, I also don't like the color they've switched to on the player. At night, in the dark in the living room, it's hard to see information like the movie's year and end time. Before, it was white and looked great.2 points

Thanks for your extensive feedback, I'm sure the Devs will appreciate it. I can only assume there wasn't enough of it during 4.9 beta cycle - and I know there were a number of users requesting for Folder view to more closely represent their actual filesystem structure (which, truth be told, maybe it should have from the beginning), I suppose they were simply quite vocal. Before replying to some of your actual queries, do note that I'm somewhat metadata-anal and devote considerable amount of time to curating my collection - but I understand that not all users have time/opportunity/willingness - or are simply lazy - to also do that, or simply have better things to do instead. And that's completely legit. But calling something unusable or broken because of it simply isn't argument enough in my book. I actually do have concerts in separate library, but even in Movie library - yes, Collections are the way to go, together with "Group items" from post above. Which is about exactly opposite to how I feel about it: I'd rarely consider a movie to be a single-genre item, I actually appreciate that same Action/Comedy movie can be found under both Genres; tbh, I don't think I've clicked on Folders tab in any of my Movies or TV show libraries for better part of a decade. I do keep my Genres quite tight, in line with TMDB Genres Bible, with the occasional custom genre few and far between. For everything else, there are Collections and something I haven't seen you mentioning so I assume you haven't get around to be using: tags. As far as I'm concerned, tags are almost single greatest Emby's feature, on my system practically everything is controlled by them: user access, grouping, "bridging" (between different content types), term-searching (as opposed to pure-title-search)... Between different libraries collections and tags, I have yet to find scenario in which Folder view would work better. Above paragraph basically covers this one as well. I'd say fundamental difference between our organizational structures is single vs. multiple libraries, in effect I imagine that whatever folders you have as your root folders/categories I'd likely have as libraries (also note that dedicated content libraries offer more features than mixed-content one) or a collection/tag-group within them. Create Animation library and they'll be reachable in single click. Add the collection as per above and they be displayed in-line with other movies. Practically everything you're currently accessing via folder view can be achieved through library management/organization (and in some instances it might require even less clicks) - but as said above, it does take some of your time. I'm typing from mobile so I hope you'll understand this would about be it. Regards2 points

if there is code to make it change by date or by show, then there is a way to add code for an extra check.. "does the user have this enabled" if yes then do it, else leave their player alone and let them be.. very very very simple if date is halloween > show pumpkin to if date is halloween and user wants it > show pumkpin why is there no option already for this. I been searching how to disable this rubbish and seems to be a few posts going back some way now asking the same question2 points

I will have to join the people not happy about it. We don't really celebrate Halloween here. Other than that i love it, specially if it could be configured by admins to show other icons for specific movies or maybe even libraries.2 points

OK sorry, my mistake. There is currently no way. We would have to add an option to control that.1 point

I see absolutely no reason why Emby wants to FORCE this kid of "cuteness" on their user base. It is like they are trying to move from their statement: "Your media your way" to "Your media our way" and that is offensive to me. But I have found that when Emby does something as stupid as this they stick with it for quite a while and they eventually fix it quietly and never say a word about the fix. It is like their arbitrary removal of the alphapicker for pictures in the web interface. Where they removed it because it was not working correctly and said explicitly that it was gone for good. And then several months later it magically slips back in with no announcement. I expect this abomination will face the same fate and it will either go away or we will be allowed to disable it in the future. But it will disappear some time after we just quit complaining and allow Emby to come to the correct decision on their own. I guess I can stand it for that long but I do worry that Emby is beginning to value cuteness over functionality or user desires. BTW: I do NOT find it cute at all. It is simply a distraction that the world would be better off without. But what do I know I am simply an old Emby user that relies on Emby for most of my TV viewing and I have about 5000 movies and nearly 1000 TV shows. What do I know about watching content through Emby. I do not see anywhere else I could watch my content in comfort as I absolutely will NOT use Plex and I do not like dealing with people that do not give credit to the source code's original developers like Jellyfin and there really is nothing else out their that does what I need. I like stability in my world and unwanted or unneeded fluff is not stabilizing my watching experience. BTW2: It has now oozed into my Android app on my Shield and I am subjected to that distracting hideous fluff every time I use Emby. It is very discouraging that Emby is so callous as to FORCE this crap on all their users. It seems totally intrusive by Emby. If I want to see pumpkins or anything else like that I can just go to Kleather’s Pumpkin Patch a bit down the road from me. At least I can eat those or make "Pumpkin Juice." I also do NOT want any "holiday" themes or junk on my system but Emby seems too stupid to even support their user's desires. I have "no seasonal themes" selected but Emby does not respect that.1 point

OK I will look for the setting on the Roku Emby. Thanks.1 point

How can I remove the halloween pumpkin on the timeline. I've been searching everywhere but all the directions seem to relate to previous versions of Emby and aren't relevant anymore. How can I remove the seasonal themes? We don't celebrate halloween on my server and need this removed. Thanks.1 point

If you’re not aware there is a plugin in Emby called “genre cleaner”. If you have a folder of a specific genre you can set all movies within that to only be that genre. However I do also use the folder view in my movies collection as I organise them in genre folders as well, so it is a shame they have lost displaying their metadata. edit: I just checked the plugin and it’s not as I described. It allows you to limit genres by putting certain genres to a main genre, which helps to reduce how many genres display.1 point

It looks like maybe since you updated the GUID the re-install stopped happening. I did remove the DLL manually previously, and it reinstalled automatically the next time the update check ran. I removed it about 6 hours ago through the plugin manager and so far so good. Thanks!1 point

Just a quick note that I've got everything working again.. I was even able to get my HD Homerun Flex 4K working and have DVR events recording.. Thanks for the help!1 point

In this situation, I would recommend a popular enough brand that has the Emby app available. Most cheap TV's don't have the best support for multimedia codecs, but Emby server will easily transcode for the client app. In a casual usage scenario, this is just the easiest method. If the TV manufacture decides not to update their OS and the Emby app somehow becomes unavailable, then get a cheap streaming device. Most people who are buying a new TV and want an external client will be looking at something that can do passthru audio and supports the widest range of codecs. Home theater enthusiast would be a good example.1 point

It doesn't represent Emby development team attitude - that one you're discussing with the Devs - just my own. Which is completely within my - or anyone else's - rights to disagree with your statements - not your request for previous folder behavior but basically everything else your said re: genres, tabs, changes etc. And I've wished you sincere good luck with your request.1 point

Over the past few days, I've browsed several websites and discussion forums. When so many users oppose this meaningless change, as a forum moderator, can your response of “not interested” truly represent the Emby development team's attitude toward users? Alright, likewise, good luck to you.1 point

Please provide the information Luke asked for in his reply. Including the time and exactly what you did when submitting logs can help a lot in assisting you.1 point

Hi Luke I did get the logs from the web interface, yeah. I just wasn't sure if my earlier logs from the older beta were anonymized or not Thank you for deleting those for me Will do about the port and I also saw there was a Whitelist IP option in Network too that I can use, so I Whitelisted my IP since I remote into the server. I messaged Abobader about a separate question, so I'll wait to hear from them instead of asking you here Thanks again for all your help1 point

I actually like it to appear on all the content for the next few days and then to disappear and only appear for content that has Halloween.1 point

New release v5.40.3. Added Rotten Tomatoes Rating. This will use t.splat.png and t.tomato.png in the icons folder if using custom icons. To work you have to enable The Open Movie Database metadata as that is where Emby gets the ratings from. Download here or on EmbyIcons Github Thank you to @Neminemand @WJCuffefor helping!!! Btw. WJCuffe sorry for not including the fresh icon, i talked to my friends and they all advised me to not use it as it was not correct and to avoid any confusion. I can look into readding it as an option or making it better if you want it. EmbyIcons.dll1 point

For those missing this functionality, as I mentioned previously, there is a fantastic jellyfin plugin that handles smart playlists that I've been using for the last few months (only music is on jellyfin, everything else I've kept in emby). https://github.com/jyourstone/jellyfin-smartplaylist-plugin I'd much rather keep everything in emby, but for now this is perfect (also allows me to use music assistant since that allows jellyfin as a source for music but not emby).1 point

I think we'll have to think about it and talk it over. Ideally, intercepting a core route should not be possible. I would rather close that off and have you intercept search through some official means. But also what softworkz mentioned about platforms is equally important. Either it has to work on all platforms or we have to build infrastructure for the catalog to list platform-specific entries.1 point

Hi, logs are anonymized assuming you got them from the web interface. But just in case I went ahead and deleted them. So from your screenshot, yes it does look like someone is trying to login to your emby server. What I would immediately suggest doing is changing your public facing router port to be something different than the default 8096. They doesn't guarantee they won't find the server again, for example if they were to use a port scanner then they could find the new port. But there's also a chance they will just go away after doing that.1 point

Thank you all for your replies. I have found the cause. It was a permission issue with my Docker deployment. It has now been resolved. Thank you!1 point

The new player that is in beta is not far from something really usable and working well a little of patience yet.1 point
-
Have done - not sure why you ask the question as whether I've used it or not, my immediate thoughts were why would you spend precious development time on an unsupported 3rd party plugin, when the 'Smart Views' core features promised in the last Beta was not delivered ? Logic suggests to me, it would be better to redirect that effort - unless the 'Smart Views' is way off, in which case fixing the Plugin could be justified as an interim fix. But as always, we simply don't know how long we need to wait for the Core feature - could be weeks, could be months and in some cases could be years away ...1 point

Emby Watch Party v1.1.0 - Sync Fixes & Subtitle Features Hey everyone! Just pushed a major update with some important fixes and cool new features. What's Fixed: Mid-play join sync - New joiners should no longer cause the video to restart for everyone. They now join at the correct position and stay synced (sub-second accuracy!) No more random seeking - Removed the periodic sync that was causing videos to jump around randomly after pause/play UI improvements - Fixed layout issues with audio/subtitle controls New Features: Skip Intro button - Automatically appears when intro markers are detected, synced across all viewers ( This does require to have API-KEY set, because Intro markers are only available with API-KEY access, not user sessions ) Smart PGS subtitle handling - Image-based subtitles (PGS/VobSub) are now burned in for perfect quality Independent subtitle selection - Text subtitles (VTT) can now be chosen individually by each viewer via the CC button - no more forcing everyone to watch with the same subtitle language! Technical Improvements: Server now calculates accurate playback time for new joiners Client-side compensation for network/loading delays Cleaned up code (removed 134 lines of dead code and debug logs Releases on Github Full Changelog For convenience : emby-watchparty-1.1.0.zip1 point

Just to add to this topic if anyone else runs into this issue. I was having the exact error as Airbender when trying to authenticate trakt premium with a fresh Premiere install. It ended up working when turning off Tailscale as Luke mentioned in this thread above (turn off VPNs). Note though, that i did not get the usual "Wohoo! Your device is now successfully connected to trakt". It just stayed same page with the 'next step' button greyed out. I confirmed it via the 'Connected Apps' page on trakt and then the emby logs.1 point

While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations1 point

Please, please re-introduce missing episodes. It is horrible trying to see which tv shows have released episodes. It is so long winded to have to use multiple clicks to ask for them on each series and impossibly long on the TV, so much so that I don't really bother now and have to go online to look for them which is very time consuming. I have not noticed any speed difference since it was removed, so I am not sure why it was removed. Could you not just put an option so people can decide whether they want it or not. It used to be really great to go into a series and see the new missing episodes or see that it hadn't been released yet. I really, really miss the automatic function.1 point

Hello, is it possible to integrate as a plex, a view with multiple servers. currently: we need to switch from one server to another to be able to see each other's content. Expected: On plex, all servers are displayed. When you search for a movie, the search is performed on all servers. This makes it possible not to switch from one server to another Jon1 point
