The website has finally created an official API. I am making some changes to the plugin to make it compatible with the current plugin. With this change, we should no longer face any problems.

A follow up as I replicated this sort of as when I returned to the open tab on dashboard and looked at task manager it hit about 18Gb At the same time as soon as the dashboard caught up memory returned to normalish as it was still in use. So it would appear the browser tabbed dashboard is caching its entire operation in a somewhat suspended state until one looks at the open tab again. Or at least the best way to describe it. @Luke Steps I took to reproduce Open browser on localhost open tab to dashboard have client/s connect and play something then open another tab to anywhere and leave it there what a few hours and you should see the memory usage increase return to dashboard tab and see session basically in fast forward and dashboard normalizes with sessions stopping and ram usage lowering. At least in my quick and dirty test. In the end there is something with the Dashboard operations/Now Play and being tabbed that appears to be a cause.

It would be nice to be able to see the alternate name of a movie or A.K.A. somewhere in the movie description or near title. Also would be nice for it to show when you search for it as well.

Hello, I should have made this post long ago, but these things have finally annoyed me to the point that I had to make it. I would like to preface that I haven't use the tvOS app yet, and I'm expecting it to behave in the same way as the android and android tv apps. Changes for Android, Android TV and tvOS: The play/pause media button / physical button shouldn't bring up the UI when I pause the video. This prevents me from seeing subtitles and content. If i wanted to bring up the UI i can just click the select button (the button that you use to navigate), or the arrow up or down button. The media player UI on Android has been changed for the worse compared to Android TV in this one regard: When you skip forward or backward, the whole UI shows up compared to just the seek bar. In my opinion either prevent it from showing up or change it back to how it used to look. In payback settings add a media player UI timeout setting, so that we can control the time it takes for the UI to disappear after the video starts playing/skipping, beginning from 0s. All of these changes can be added to payback settings. Windows and macOS: Using Space bar for play/pause shouldn't bring up the UI, similar to the above you can use the "enter/return" key or arrow keys if you wanted to see the UI. When skipping the ui shouldn't appear at all, since you have arrow keys and mouse to do that, and unlike with the Android, Android TV, tvOS you can't get rid of the UI by clicking the back button. Just like with the Android, Android TV and tvOS you can add all these changes in the playback settings. I'm expecting this to be changed quickly since most of these changes should be a one line of code, except of the seeker UI overhaul for skipping in the Android app.

Since I rebuilt my media databases for movies and television series, I've discovered that Emby no longer gives actor bios, or cross references other series or movies that actor appears in that are also in my collections. For example, I follow Tim Allen in Shifting Gears, who also is in Home Improvement and Last Man Standing (which I have), not to mention Galaxy Quest and Wild Hogs. Clicking on his picture now brings up nothing. Do I just need to let the database have time to build metadata for all actors, or is that capability no longer possible?

Generally dedicated volume buttons on keyboards affect the system volume. Is that the intention here? Or are you saying the web app would intercept the attempt at volume control, so it would happen in the player and not the system as usual? P.S. It should probably be removed from the keyboard shortcuts page if it is in fact no longer a shortcut that works.

I could imagine us to allow this. The primary point here is that we cannot allow any HTML markup in the message or title texts, because this would open up the possibility for script injection into our apps, which would be a massive security issue. For allowing an image to be included, it would require extending the API for allowing to specify an image url (and possibly some additional properties like size and alignment). It would be shown in an IMG tag, so SVG would work as well (but without scripting).

3.5.13 has added a stop button, I consider this resolved.

I wonder if this workaround fixes the Emby / Edge issue when sleeping. Enable, Disable Sleeping Tabs; Automatically suspend tabs in Edge But then again why should we have to do this

Now that we have multiple connections, I would suggest a much lower value for the cache - how about trying 512Mb Well, since a brand new 4.9.1.xx install would be set to 5. I would recommend doing that. Shutting down Emby Server and then editing the config\system.xml file to change the line to have value of 5 instead of 20 <MaxLibraryDbConnections>5</MaxLibraryDbConnections>

Unfortunetely my coding skills are non existent. Maybe one of the other could be useful for the emby team. (AniList, JIKAN API, Kitsu API)

Just tried again now and weirdly enough it is working perfectly. Will try keep an eye on it and see if I can work out any triggers if it happens again and post here. Just seems odd it was only effecting tvOS.

Kriegst du denn für diesen internen Synology-DDNS-Service automatisch ein gültiges Zertifikat zugewiesen? Wenn du deine subdomain in einem Browser aufrufst, erreichst du dann deinen service ohne Fehlermeldung, dass es ein selbstsigniertes Zertifikat ist? Wenn ja dann scheint ja alles zu laufen. Zu: Port 443 muss offen sein und auf die IP wo der reverse proxy läuft weitergeleitet werden. Welche IP das auf diesen Synologys ist weiß ich leider nicht, ich würde aber erwarten dass es auf dem host läuft und du dementsprechend keine Weiterleitung (port forwarding) in der firewall brauchst. Aber wie gesagt ich hab keine Erfahrung mit den Dingern ^^

Another for what it's worth... Today on my Nvidia Shield Pro, I force stopped, cleared cache and cleared data on Emby for Android TV and it didn't help at all. Still error 15 with any trailers. Didn't try with the universal app, honestly can't stand it - it's too flashy blinky zoomy for my liking. Really hope this gets resolved soon on the Android TV app.

Still haven't resolved the issue of actor metadata not appearing. Are older versions of Emby Server available for download somewhere?

Removed both video cards drivers from system and reinstalled. Lock up have stopped but even with playing only one stream on local hardwired network the system still has strutting during playback.

Hi Emby team, I paid for Lifetime Emby Premiere because I believed Emby would keep up. After years on Emby and now running a Mac mini (Apple Silicon), I’m honestly frustrated and disappointed — especially after spending just two days testing Jellyfin side-by-side. This isn’t a rage post. It’s a reality check from a paying customer who feels left behind on macOS. 1) Hardware acceleration on macOS isn’t where it should be in 2025 On Emby (4.8.11.0), only H.264 hardware acceleration consistently engages for me. HEVC often falls back to software and hammers the CPU. Meanwhile, Jellyfin on the same machine uses Apple’s VideoToolbox reliably and — this was the gut punch — can hardware-accelerate HDR→SDR tone-mapping and even remap Dolby Vision Profile 5 to correct SDR colors on my library. A free competitor doing this while a paid product struggles is hard to swallow. It’s been years since Apple Silicon launched. We’re still missing dependable HEVC HWA and modern, accurate HDR/Dolby Vision handling in Emby on macOS. 2) “Convert Media” appears stuck on software on macOS Playback transcoding sometimes taps H.264 hardware, but server-side Convert Media does not (even when the target is H.264). My CPU pegs to 100% for long stretches. If there’s a way to offload these conversions with VideoToolbox on macOS, it’s either not implemented or not documented. Either way, that’s not acceptable for a paid, cross-platform server in 2025. 3) The ecosystem gap is widening (SSO, skip features, etc.) SSO/OIDC: This keeps coming up in Emby threads. Jellyfin already has a working plugin. I shouldn’t need workarounds for basic identity in a family server. Intro/credits/recap/ad skipping: Jellyfin’s plugins detect intros, credits, recaps, previews — even mid-roll ad segments — and can auto-skip from the server. In practice it’s more capable and less fiddly than what I get with Emby today. Music lyrics: Emby can display lyrics, yes, but the experience across clients is inconsistent and still feels behind competitors. 4) Why this matters now: the homelab shift from x86 to Apple Silicon I’m one of many who have moved from x86/NAS to Mac mini for home self-hosting: lower idle power, quiet 24/7 operation, and strong integrated media engines. This shift is real — a growing slice of homelabbers are standardizing on macOS for exactly these reasons. Competitors (Jellyfin, Plex) have clearly invested in macOS paths and moved faster to meet this demand. Emby hasn’t kept pace. If macOS isn’t treated as a first-class server platform, paying users like me are going to drift away — not because we want to, but because we can’t wait forever. 5) Communication with Mac users has been poor This is the part that stings: macOS requests sit for ages without a concrete answer. If there’s a roadmap, we don’t see it. If there’s progress, it isn’t communicated. What I expect as a paying customer Give us specifics — dates and deliverables — not “we’ll look into it.” macOS hardware acceleration parity: Reliable HEVC encode/decode, hardware HDR→SDR tone-mapping, and correct Dolby Vision (P5) handling on Apple Silicon. Hardware-accelerated Convert Media on macOS: Not just playback transcoding — library conversions must use VideoToolbox where possible. Official SSO/OIDC: First-party, documented, maintained. Server-side skip segments: An endorsed, end-to-end solution for intro/credits/recap (plus guidance for DVR ad detection), with consistent client behavior. A transparent macOS roadmap: Public, mac-specific media-pipeline/HWA plan with milestones. No more guessing. Treat macOS as first-class: Assign ownership to the mac media pipeline, publish known issues/workarounds, and close the loop with actual releases. I’m happy to provide logs, test builds, and real-world repro steps. But please don’t tell me to switch OS, “use software,” or wait indefinitely. I bought Lifetime because I wanted Emby to be my long-term home. Right now, on macOS, it isn’t. Please meet your macOS users where we are — with a plan, not silence.

I know this was originally supposed to be a feature added in the 4.8 release but it didn't end up making it. Do we have any updates or an ETA on when this? Would love to be able to host my server on my mac.

The TV is connected via WiFi. On my old i3 server it streamed the exact same 4K movies and had no issues. This is what ChatGPT is telling me…
