Oh ok have to go few more levels deep to find the info but it is there Thanks for your help, Bryan2 points

The Roku is very finicky about those subtitle flags and it gets confused when there is both a "default" and a "forced" one. It thinks it should show both and just throws up its hands and does nothing.2 points

New version up (5.36.0) Bug fix: Fixed slowdown reported by most users Download here or on Github - EmbyIcons. Special thanks to Neminem and Sh0rty for helping identifying the problem and testing!! This version will fix the slowdowns reported in here, it sadly took a while but it should finally be f.ing fixed!! EmbyIcons.dll2 points

Thanks, it's working now. Finally I can access it without any workaround.2 points

@seanbuff it turns out my ISP is indeed using CGNat. I went ahead and used Tailscale to get around it. It seems to be working fine on my Emby app on my phone now with the wifi turned off. I'll be sure to test it when further away from home. But for now, thanks for pointing out that my ISP was likely the problem! Thank you @LukeYou were helpful in this too!2 points

@@Luke stated in a previous post (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/49933-replaygain-music-support/) adding support for this could easily be done for at least the theater client seeing as the player used already supports replaygain. I'm making this feature request in hopes that this support is added, as I have no dev experience myself1 point

yes, but have you updated your router port forwarding config to point to the new computer's local IP address? You may have gotten lucky that one time with uPnP, but it's often unreliable. Please see: Connecting from Client Apps Also please attach the full server log file rather than just a text snippet, thanks.1 point
-
Yeah the Roku player appears to take "Forced" literally - meaning I have to play this track. But then it also takes "default" to mean I have to play this track as well. Then it just gets confused and does nothing. Same thing will happen if you mark two sub tracks as default.1 point

There is a hidden issue to this feature of having multiple listings point to a single copy of a media. The dbase would consider that there are two copies and show this in any search and multiple copies would come up for genres, 'Like this' lists, actors and depending on your collection settings, might get automatically added to a collection, so you would see double up copies of media all over the place with a multiple listing feature. OK, can this part be fixed? I think it's not that easy. The dbase search and list feature would have to notice that the media is a link, rather than the full file version. You can write that code, but that means for every screen result, every single media has to be tested to see if it is a link or not. Even tagging it as a link, requires a dbase select to be run. I think the result would easily cause pages to load 3 to 10 times longer then they do now. Is that acceptable? There is no easy way to pre cache a search, because it can be anything, genre, actor, by year, 'Like this'... If Emby ran online with a fast server, then it could be optimized and cache searches to have less delay. But Emby is running on user's server. If pages take much longer to open because of this feature, I think you will lose more people than you gain. Having an on and off switch does not fix this either. Admin's leaving it on, forgetting they switched it and then finding Emby to be too slow would happen and again you would loose popularity. If the reason to offer special list of media for one user, moving files to a directory, only that user can see and then moving them back, if you want is an easy fix. If you want to give some users advance access, then you can make a "Newly Arrived" library and offer it first to some users and after 2 weeks, move the content to the general library. I know it's nice to imagine additional functions, but something like this has hidden complications that no amount of code can fix. The search and all the page listings will slow down too much.1 point

moved it to TV and Emby is rescanning now. See if that fixes it. Perhaps I should re-rip the files with Handbrake, if that doesn't work.1 point
-
k, didn't realize it was a TV show when it was ripped. Lemme move it and see if that makes it happy. what am I missing about the naming convention? It's an odd one could the extra are for the most part (as I remember) short films, not so much "extras".1 point

I think it's an ambitious but great idea. Then perhaps many of the other notification plugins could be built on top of that.1 point

Usually they are not Depends on the channel though. I let yt-dlp set mtime of the file to the video file to the upload date/time, so as long as it will sort with that, it should be OK... Btw is there a way to have "Folders" view default when opening the collection? Or even completely remove the "videos" view as it really does not make any sense... Perfect, will take a look! Thanks!1 point

Going to mark this as solved even though it's not "solved." I have spent a ton of time with Samsung tech support and nothing is working. This TV is stuck on an outdated firmware version and will not update to the newest version. Even when doing the update manually via USB. Their Tier 2 tech support is also helpless. I am not sure if it is just my TV or if it is the entire model line. I went to BestBuy to see if they could show me the firmware version on their floor model and it was an even older version. The sales rep did not want to check it for an update as he didn't want it to wipe their demo setup. I have returned the TV and went back to TCL and its working fine.1 point

This sounds exactly like the *issue* I am describing in this post. It hasn't yet been fixed. Its an issue on Android, iOS, and web app. As OP stated, the info menu should stay up indefinitely as it should be the user's choice when to back-out of the menu when they're done reading.1 point
-
The other reason is that putting the media info right there would suggest that it's more important than being able to get to the season list of the series (or other episodes). I think that would be a problem for many.1 point
-
That's a question for the Devs, but I'd assume reason to be twofold: one, those are single item properties and TV shows are collection of items, each of which can have different properties and two, it'd make that screen look quite busy (more than it already is). Those are just my assumptions, though.1 point
-
You're looking at TV show detail screen - there's no MediaInfo details there - you need to look at episode detail screen, you'll have same info there.1 point

Or look into NPM also docker it does the same. Never used Caddy, so can't comment on that.1 point

This is not an Emby only issue but it does happen, for me, when using Emby. I asked this in the Roku forums and received zero responses. When I am watching anything on my Roku and I press mute on my TV the screen goes blank for between 10 and 30 seconds. It recovers and shows and operates normally after that. Unmuting does not do this at all. I have no clue as to exactly what causes this but I do run my Roku in "Night listening mode" if that might make a difference. Again it is the TV that I mute and all audio, which is clearly correct, stops but it also stops the video for some time. This is mainly observed when I am watching live TV but I have seen it on content that is playing back. I do not see this behavior on my Shield or my Fire TV or when I watch live TV directly through my TV. I do not think it is an Emby problem but Roku does not seem to want to answer questions that might stretch there small brains to answer. I am hoping that someone here might have enough Roku expertise to make something resembling a good guess. Thanks in advance.1 point
-
I honestly do not know as it never occurred to me that it could be any problem. I only thought of it because I was looking for any audio related settings and that was the only unusual setting I could come up with. I have always run my Rokus in that mode because I really dislike sudden extreme volume variations. I will test that the next time I use my Roku and report back here. I also use "Night node" on my shield but. But I know that "Night mode" may be implemented very differently on the Shield than on the Rokus and the fact that the shield works correctly while the Roku does not may be little more than a "red herring." I do not think this is at all related to Emby mainly because it happens on several other apps on my Roku. In particular the NWSL+ app also exhibits the problem. I wish all my problems were this easily mitigated.1 point

Hi, This is an issue I have on Emby for iOS 2.2.41 (serveur is 4.8.11.0 but shouldn't be relevant here). Overall, any layout/filtering/sorting option showed on the client is non-functional when the server is unreachable. Repro steps: - Connect to the server using the iOS application. - download some of the server music offline on the device. - put the phone offline (make sure the server is unreachable) - restart Emby iOS -> the server selection screen should be visible - select "Downloads" > "Music" > "Songs" - notice the display is sorted in a certain way, and shows large tiles - click on "...", and in view, instead of "Principal", select "List" - tap "done" Expected behavior: the list should change the a list view. Observed behavior: the list remains with large tiles. - click on the sorting icon - click on "sort by added date" Expected behavior: the list should now be sorted with the most recently added song first. Observed behavior: the sorting doesn't change. Note: this bug does not happen if the server is reachable, and I click "Change server > Downloads" and do the same steps. Seems like this only happens when the server is truly unreachable.1 point

These are based on based on @qwasedral's post from April. I started with their template, but found my title sizes required shrinking and didn't fit well (they didn't match in size, which was quite obvious when they sit next to each other. I've included the files that I use, and also a template for you to use in Paint.Net (in the zip). I won't be able to generate requests for folks. Simple Emby Logos.zip1 point

Hi, Luke. I don't use personnaly a Roku as a client. But one of my person with who I share my media library does. Apparently, it's an older model that can't "understand" the 8-bit HEVC format (which seems very outdated to me). I'm starting to suspect that Roku (at least the older models) might be among the worst clients for Emby because Firestick and even TV clients support it. Gilgamesh_48, what's going on with file playback in the dashboard when the screen is black? Can you check it out at that moment?1 point

Yes you can configure a subtitle provider within Emby to download subtitles in your preferred language. This can be done automatically or manually. Automatic Subtitle Downloads1 point

That's just a worker-pool but not a micro service architecture. Most important for Emby is live-transcoding, and a single such transcoding job cannot be scaled by employing multiple nodes. Well - that's one of the points I tried to explain earlier: With an in-process db like SQLite, you need no caching because re-retrieving the data from the in-process database is (overall) much cheaper than using a caching server. (also, it's Redis, not Reddis) "Just don't have", "someone just needs", "you could write",... That's a lot of hot steam, mixed up with a few buzz-words, but essentially pointless in total.1 point

Regardless of the throttling setting it was unchanged. But After the latest Fedora updates, the past two days, it's been OK with the EmbyServer processing running between 4%-8%, which fine. Thanks.1 point

I really do not like stereotypes and this thread is stereotyping older people. Almost all my present friends are in the age group that most people consider elderly but they have the same range of abilities and limits as most everyone else. I have a "young" friend that is 91 but her "elderly" granddaughter, at 27. is much more backward in technology that the 91 year old. If a need is real for some kind of intelligence limiting mode. something I strongly disagree with, the call it "Emby's mode for stupid people" or "The dumb person's interface" or something like that that is truly descriptive but do not label age as being automatically stupid. I am 77 but my mind is as sharp as ever just, sometimes. a bit "sleepy." But more on topic I see many of the clients and servers and I see no need for a simple mode, except, maybe, for young kids. There is NOTHING complex about using Emby except for setup and even that is pretty simple for the basics. I believe it is a waste of Emby's limited development time to try to dumb their software down so the stupid can use it.1 point

Just FYI - the validation cache on all the clients is 7 days but the server potentially has a longer one based on your Premiere level. I believe a Lifetime server can survive up to 21 days without validation.1 point

Thanks I'm basically trying to figure out a. Way to hijack the emby UI so I can say, from my wife and mine joint profile, she doesn't want to watch something - so add it to that collection. Then me have some script run on a timer to poll that collection and move the media to the root folder for my profile. I'll try with playlists- thanks!1 point

No. If you have premier the server and premier app's needs to phone home via internet to verify License. But without premier and only using the free app's ( Browser, Ruko, smart tv or Apple TV ) it might work for you. Check this for further guidance Emby Premiere Feature Matrix | Emby Documentation1 point

Not feasible and not preferred, as then your audio data has been edited and is no longer the original data. ReplayGain is just metadata that's applied on the playback side, so definitely preferred.1 point
