I can already do this with the following structure: X:\Media\Movies\The Lord Of The Rings The Return Of The King (2003) - 4K.mkv X:\Media\Movies\The Lord Of The Rings The Return Of The King (2003) - 1080p.mkv Which shows up as For episodes this works wonderfully too: X:\Media\Shows\Dune Prophecy (2024)\Season 01\HD\Dune Prophecy - s01e01 - The Hidden Land - 1080p.mkv X:\Media\Shows\Dune Prophecy (2024)\Season 01\UHD\Dune Prophecy - s01e01 - The Hidden Land - 4K.mkv Too bad I can't get the folders "HD and UHD" to be named "1080p and 4K" respectively because that way Emby will treat them as seasons.

Hi Luke and Thanks. As usual I try everything, I post my issue, THEN realise it was actually the server that was having port issues. I reset the ports in EZ-Router then activated them. Problem solved. I think sometimes its easy to focus on the program rather than the hardware. Thanks for the reply I hope my answer may help others in the future.

Hi Emby team, Request: Add a setting to let users select metadata to display in search results, such as library name, year, resolution, etc. (toggleable per user). Reason: I have libraries for "Movies" and "4K Movies," searching duplicates doesn't clarify which is 4K without clicks. Custom options would help identify items quickly without UI clutter. Concept: Thoughts or workarounds? Thanks!

They fixed OPUS audio codec playback issues, at least for my model - S90C, I can't speak for other models of Samsung TVs or from other manufacturers. So, why not let users decide whether they want to enable OPUS or not by having a toggle-able option (maybe with a notice that it might not work) instead of outright disabling it for all Samsung/LG TVs ?

I would give anything to have the LG UI with this Samsung picture & audio. I literally never had any advertisment or "recommendations". I had maybe 4 apps at the beginning of the list on the bottom of the screen. The remote was far better too. But the reliability of that TV left a lot to be desired. And it's codec support was not as good either. Totally true though, there is no perfect model.

Yeah the search feature is lagging a lot behind today's standards. As usual no communication from the team.

@RanmaCanadajjust picked up an onn 4k pro & the box played everything i threw at it including pgs subs. Every audio & video codec were direct stream. Plus it looked like the picture quality was great. When I plugged in & setup it did that big upgrade everyone was talking about. Im gonna try a different launcher I read about in how tweak this box but I have to say it looks better then my fire tv. I.am still interested in looking into a n100 or n150. Researching air remotes.

HTTPS requires a domain name. One of the cheapest sources is the oddly named portbun.com (which I use) - .com is under $8 a year and .xyz is around $2 a year, for instance. If you want HTTPS, setting it up in a reverse proxy is often easier than doing it directly in Emby - in particular, Caddy does all the certificate acquisition and renewal for you automatically. Before going ahead, you might want to check that it will work at all, by confirming that your ISP is not using cgNAT. Paul

You could get .srt subtitles for your movie. srt subs are text based and can be used by all clients.

Hi ,since this is on a remote connection I would try lowering the quality setting and see if that helps. It could just be that the bitrate is too high.

I can't wait as then it will be able to finally combine both 1080 and 4K versions into one library so it won't show as different movies when searching.

Try a different browser / device? Screenshot? Less CAPS? Although it sounds as if you may have other issues. A log file or two would help to narrow down your issue.

How quickly after last post you've tried to post again, as your member group has flood control measure of 3 minutes between posts? Otherwise, @Abobadermight take a look what has occurred.

For $30 you can get a P400 which will handle all your encoding needs.

@Lukeas noted by others, the newest app layouts are inconsistent with the long standing ones. Example of existing apps where the Director is clearly shown, and often clickable (minus ATV app) Example of new app layouts where the Director is notably missing from the same screens. The ask is that for both Android and Windows (TV Mode) - the Director is displayed AND clickable allowing for a quick "jump to" page Thanks.

Many Emby apps now have a setting that allows you to configure the long press action during video playback. We will add the playback speed menu as one of the options that you can pick, so that long pressing the OK button during playback will pull up the playback speed menu. Thanks.

Hi guys I would ask for setting the default audio transcoding codec to AAC or even better OPUS, as we have now year 2025. mp3 was released in 1991 AAC was released in 1999 OPUS was released in 2010 Chrome is able to playback all of them what do you think? regards Michael

What's with Netbird, Netmaker, Twingate, Zerotier users? I think it's a very bad idea to commit to only this one proposal. If you want it dummy-user bulletproof, there is no way around a good Reverse Proxy solution in front of Emby. And yes, the server maintainer has to tinker more so that the users need to tinker less. If I had one wish, I would beg @Lukeand the dev team to implement a setting in client apps like in Immich to set up custom proxy headers. Pangolin Reverse Proxy is used in this example: You would set up the custom proxy header "P-Access-Token=xxx" and "P-Access-Token-Id=yyy" inside the Emby app and it can connect successfully to your Emby behind Pangolin Reverse Proxy with all the bells and whistles like 2FA, Passkeys etc since the Request Headers tell Pangolin: "Hey Pango, I'm a trusted app via your setup Headers for the resource requested but not able to use your Pangolin Login Prompt like a Browser". Currently you need to open a ton of paths like /emby/web/* or /emby/Items/* to be able to use an Emby app from the outside of LAN world via Reverse Proxy with an authentication layer in front of Emby. Hello! let's imagine that user have got no results in the Identify - Search form, just like that and there is no option to go back and change the search request the only option is to close the window and then click at the three dots, scroll to Identify, fill the form again. The best solution is to display search results inside the search form. the better than now is make a "back to search form" button and revert user to the prefilled search form. P.S. very bad autoidentification especially for non English-named content.

In no way do I want the director listed first before the actors, but I agree the forced horizontal scrolling in TV Mode is awful. I've complained forever about it. Devs claim to many clicks up and down make people upset, but 100 clicks to right and left 100% perfectly fine. Make zero sense.

I have my cache size set to 10000 and i see no performance hits that can be attributed to any kind of memory overload. I should emphasize that my server has no other tasks but Emby except for DrivePool and TightVNC. I keep my server as clean as i can. It was suggested, some time ago, that I increase my cache, the exact reason escapes me right now, and I experimented with several smaller numbers and had zero problems. I stopped at 10000 simply because it seemed lager enough at 200 times where I started. I've been running with that value for a long time and there is nothing adverse I can report that seems at all related to cache size. Some times I wish Emby had an easy way to view memory usage and cpu load inside Emby. But then I think about it more and I am quite glad they do not as I would, probably, spend much too much time watching the stats instead of watching content.

Maybe my over reaction yesterday was inappropriate and I’ll say I’m sorry but when I have family calling me who don’t understand why they are getting an error and I’m swamped at work, I get a little pissed. I’ve had Emby since at least 2016, builds it on a ReadyNAS, then Moved it to a computer, then moved it to another computer, installed and reinstalled. I used to talk on the forums all the time learning and helping others posts about how I did things helping people along the way. Recently I had a Linux problem and after looking all over the internet and seeing no one being able to fix it, I posted a long technical and to the point problem statement, screenshots, logs and even background on what needed to be solved for. What I got in return was a smart ass remark from a developer, that all Linux users should watch out. I am also a developer and I want to solve any and all problems that come up to me. So I worked hard for a few days trying to solve for that issue and I got it so hopefully going forward any of those Reddit posts, yeah there is your answer for Linux collections. now when I bought Emby, I purchased an UNLIMITED license. No where did I read having a limit. Ok so that’s on me. BUT here is my problem. a. All of the hardware is on me, I have paid for a server, 1 TB ram, 48 cores, installed Nginx, network controls, Fiber, Synology NAS with over 100TB, ALL on my own money. I have sweat tears and blood into my network. b. I spent hours making my server better for family so that for those who aren’t “technical” people, they can use it and get enjoyment out of watching things without having to buy 15 streaming services. Part of this is my frustration that unlimited is not really unlimited, so you’re not really getting an unlimited subscription. The other part of this is not being allowed to manage MY own devices. So I just recently added my server to a Linux distribution and just added my library as normal, I saw “skip titles” and thought ohhhh that’s cool. So I checked it. Also in the past, when Emby comes out with new features, sure I add them and test them and then I know what they are. Some I have kept over the past and some I just wanted to learn. So LIVE TV is a great example. I didn’t know this would eventually count against me so I added it, paid for it not to forget about, and tested it. IMO, awful. I spent hours mapping channels and then an Emby update later, it refreshed and unmapped it. So personally I removed it. So all that to say, some of us don’t use that 25 limit to sell to people for streaming to make money, I use it for my family. But as soon as I added skip intros, all of a sudden I have well over 25 devices using premium now and a lot of them are now not working. So when you say “you don’t have to stay with Emby”, yeah I do because I love the ahit out of Emby, I’ve spent hours upon hours of my life making Emby better and helping here and there to make it better for others on this Forrum. Same with sickchill, transmission, Radarr, sonarr, windows/linux/readynas users, I’ve been around the block. You want to make a limit of 25, that’s fine BUT, I should be the one in charge of those devices, not oh once you burn it that’s 1. That’s what I call BS and that’s why I’m ticked off.

Not to worry @Lambtalk, I’m sure per security reasons, the Emby team can’t share that information but they’re tracking it so all is good!! Rest assured! its the same thing if you have a TV, then get a new one, ops you’ve burned one already so be careful. its just getting greedy. There is no reason there should be a limit. This is what pushes your most valuable customers away, not to mention….. they control all of that…. Lol

It’s a very bad user experience, and the face you think as an app you can block devices, it’s not going to end well for Emby. It’s a personal, I repeat, personal media server, what gives you the right to tell me who I can share my media with. All the users that hit 25 are your best users so best of luck when they start falling off. Yay Go Emby, I finally have something to complain about. Yes thanks for clearing that up, next step is, I need something on my screen that shows me in detail, when a device was... First started premier service, Current end date at premier service... In which this date should be changed according to the last time it was seen and used the premiere service. Also this menu needs to show what account the device goes to. Needs to be easily read and understood by everybody that's currently a premiere member. I feel like I'm riding blind, all I have to go by is a premier screen that says within limit Getting close to limit Over limit I have no notification when I am over my limit, there's also nothing in the scheduled tasks to check for this. The only way I get greeted currently by this is usually unexpectedly when a device does not provide a premiere option, usually shows up in the form of not being able to play live TV. Generally done in a rude fashion to whatever device it occurs on. It would also be nice to limit premier options per user, for example if Joe blow has a premiere limit set for two by the server, and Joe blow decides to load up a third TV, when he is within max connection but has met the server premiere max setting, at that time he should be greeted with the current standard message to upgrade as a donation to The MB team. I also think in the ending result would incur less demand premiere from server. And more funds for upgrades to the premier server team at MB, and a happier server owner. also an actual number current to the premier count... I don't like not knowing if I'm one away from the max.

As discussed on the linked thread, intros named after tags (and stored with the appropriate name in the 'Tags' directory) play in addition to the random clip from the Custom Intros directory. Similarly, as Cinema Intros can be selected for the 'Movies' and/or 'TV Episodes' content type, there is no way to apply more nuanced controls. I would like to request the ability to select which intro clips should be played/selected from based on either the library or tags.

HI, I would like to request a feature where, when searching for a movie or tv show, if multiple versions exist in seperate librarys,then the librarys would be labeled. For example if I search for movie YYY I might get two returned search results, but I have no idea if this is the 4k version, the non 4k version etc(unless playing). So a library name on each movie in some way to indicate which library movie YYY is in. thanks

Bonjour , je n'arrive pas depuis 1 semaines a configurer correctement a nouveau mon serveur Emby , pour faire simple cela marchais trés bien jusqu'a que je décide d'upgrade ma configuration. au retour a la maison j'ai tenté de rerégler truenas sur mon réseau (j'ai fais le montage et boot de la nouvelle config sur mon lieu de travail) et depuis , impossible d'acceder au 2 ip que emby me donne (jai fais une clear install de truenas) J'ai normalement tout configuré comme la premiére fois mais non , de quoi auriez vous besoin en info supplémentaire pour pouvoir m'aider ? je vous enverrais tout ce soir au retour a la casa, merci d'avance !
