Built in Push Notifications through the app and not 3rd party applications? Is that a foreseen addition or what? Right now I added push bullet and well you have to download the app to just get the notifications. Seems counterproductive honestly at least in my eyes? I'd like to see if maybe the android app could get native notifications, I know Roku would be probably difficult and PC would be easy. Xbox probably the same but may be annoying in the sense while viewing or playing games. At least with the Android (iOS too I'm assuming) we could be notified right from our phones and be like "sweet" turning on Emby and watching a movie now.1 point

I am experiencing repeated premature terminations of scheduled IPTV recordings on my Synology 1522+ using Emby. Here are some examples where the recordings did not complete as planned: TV total 2024_04_24_20_15_00 - Show, Comedyshow: Terminated after just 4 minutes. Achtung Abzocke - BetrĂ¼gern auf der Spur 2024_04_25_20_15_00 - Information, Documentary Series: Terminated after 41 minutes. The Voice Kids 2024_04_26_20_15_00 - S12E6, Children, Talent Show: Terminated after 7 minutes. This issue is not isolated but occurs consistently, which is quite frustrating. I've noticed that my IPTV connection sometimes becomes unstable. Could it be that Emby automatically stops recording when there are connection issues, instead of continuing until the scheduled end time? If so, I would appreciate a feature that allows recordings to complete regardless of connection stability. Please let me know if such a solution is possible. I have attached the embyserver.txt log file. Should you need more information, please feel free to contact me. embyserver.zip1 point

Fair point of specificity. There are no errors (up until the RateLimitExceededException exception ), so, "error-free" was a misnomer. Clarified and re-stated: yes, my goal is getting the number of requests down, by properly identifying the filenames that continually and repeatedly consume my daily request quota.1 point

Do you wish a debug log? The regular one has this : 2025-03-09 15:09:15.641 T:31523 error <general>: CCurlFile::CReadState::FillBuffer - (0x280ce16510) Failed: Transferred a partial file(18) 2025-03-09 15:09:15.649 T:31523 error <general>: GetDirectory - Error getting zip://special%3a%2f%2fhome%2faddons%2fpackages%2fplugin.service.emby-next-gen-11.1.25.zip/ 2025-03-09 15:09:15.649 T:31523 error <general>: CAddonInstallJob[plugin.service.emby-next-gen]: invalid package special://home/addons/packages/plugin.service.emby-next-gen-11.1.25.zip PS: Having this issue on all the machines FYI: Re-downloaded the .25 zip again, and it worked. Hi, I want the "Recyle bin" or "Trash Can" feature to the server. Now, there is "Allow media deletion" control on "Feature Access" setting. Once a user delete a media file, this is completely removed from the server. When I share media files with my family, sometimes the problem happens. For example, my wife delete a file because she has watched it, but I have not yet... So, I want the "Recycle bin" feature as below. * "media deletion" role just only moves the file into Recyle bin. * add "empty Recyle bin" control to "Feature Access". Only the account with this role can remove files completely. Regards,1 point

@Lukehow about that expansion to other OSs? Linux, Docker in particular could use this. Not sure why you didn't implement it across the whole ecosystem.... Especially after almost 10 years.....1 point

I am also seeing this failure to start the new Windows app. It has been happening regularly since the first release of the new Windows app. I just kill the process in Task Manager and start the app again to get it going.1 point

It's only been 1 year since this thread was stared, the anniversary was yesterday. In one year you could watch the extended Lord of Rings triology 784 times.... But not with transcoding working properly. A year for a bug fix on paid feature, with minimal communication while being ignored What's the safe word, how do we stop this?1 point

So happy to find this discussion. I'm not an expert in this area, but was just thinking about ideas for the future versions of Emby, which I am a fan - Hybrid Streaming. Here's what I believe PLEX is doing . . . Plex’s Built-In "Discover" & "Universal Watchlist" Features Plex is already leading in hybrid streaming by offering: * Discover Mode – Lets you search across multiple streaming services (Netflix, Prime, Disney+, HBO Max, etc.). Universal Watchlist – You can add movies/TV shows to a single Plex watchlist, and it will tell you where to watch it (including whether it's available on your personal library). Deep Linking (Limited) – Some platforms allow Plex to open the movie/show in the appropriate app, but not all. Bottom-line: I'm just thinking about a more integrated solution where I could possibly see a dashboard with all my media streaming options in one place vs. bouncing between all the options (e.g. Personal Movie Library, Subscribed Streaming Services, Movies Anywhere - my digital movies, etc.). The concept shared by @xnappois a great start! Hope this discussion continues and some creative innovations come to life for Emby in the near future.1 point

Hi @Luke I imagine like many others, I’m considering pulling the pin on ordering a shiny new Mac Mini M4 to upgrade from a NUC homelab. The forums chart the development of Apple Silicon support on Emby quite well, but I wanted to ask what state of play is as of now (Nov 2024): - Is hardware transcoding now fully supported on Apple Silicon? - Is there any benefit from running emby on macOS bare metal vs running dockerised in terms of hardware acceleration support - and if not really, do we just pass through the GPU in docker compose? - Anything else folk migrating over from NUC might need to know? The issue was with Emby timing out and killing the process before ffmpeg had finished reading the file, I fixed this by adjusting the mount options so it could read the file faster1 point

It's still not really recommended unless library options are identical, but it should mostly be fine.1 point

Automatically merging movies by Movie Db Id will be a built-in feature in the upcoming Emby Server 4.9 release. Thanks.1 point

Unfortunately the shield is to old for 4k AV1. Unlike newer and much cheaper devices it does not support AV1 hardware decoding and has to rely on software decoding. I usually recode AV1 videos I want to watch on the shield to HEVC manually.1 point

This is a beautiful proof of concept. Since joining Emby I haven't personally seen any major developments. I see lots of bug fixes but no innovation. This would be innovation. As someone who has my own personal library of content I own, combined with streaming services I pay for, to be able to access content from within Emby would mean I use Emby as my primary streaming service, and launch others from within Emby. This is my preference, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Based on your "hack" here, this is obviously possible. So at this point the Devs (such as @speechles) should either say they aren't interested in this project, or they lack the technical skill to do it.1 point

Did a proof-of-concept using my VirutalEpisodes hack and the native Emby Android app. This is using Tasker to monitor what is being played to launch Netflix (in this case). Details on the hack: https://github.com/xnappo/VirtualEpisodes Ideally would like to remove Tasker, Sonarr and scripts from the equation and do this directly with the Emby apps and using a server plugin to add/monitor the 'virtual' episodes.1 point

Coming in here.. Lol. Learn some history. At any rate, the idea is to combine the personal media with available streaming content in one place. If you aren't interested, just stop reading this thread.1 point

Here is a log for a program that was scheduled to record on 9/29/24. The program was "Sister Wives" and the episode was "My Brothers Keeper". it recorded for 37 minutes and stopped. embyserver-63863251193.txt.zip1 point

How do we get logs for this problem? My original thought on the issue was the IPTV dropping out but I have tested with two other providers, and one is pretty good and stable and hardly buffers or drops out but emby still stop the recordings anywhere from a few seconds into the recording up to maybe 10 to 15 minutes after it starts. I get very few recordings to actually complete. Funny thing about that though is that I noticed if I manually set up something to record, the whole thing completes. I still doing want to point out fingers or anything though because it still can be an issue with the IPTV services because again, they are far from perfect and could skip out while I am not looking, even for a second.1 point

I have also had problems with this with my IPTV setup. More times than not it seems to happen 5 minutes into a recording. It also seems to happen when I watch live TV. 5 minutes into watching, it hangs and I have to go back to the guide and select it again and then it seems to work fine from there. Hence why the recording would stop. The IPTV setup for Live TV runs fine on other platforms (Eg. Legazy and IPTV Smarters), but there is no recording capability with those. I do run NextPVR on my Asustor NAS as a Docker Container and it records just fine, but I would like to have the Emby Server do it all. The IPTV gets to the Emby server via xTeVe running in a Docker container. I use it for Emby and NextPVR. I have a total of 4 instances I can run at a time from my IPTV service so it's not an issue with them both running at the same time. I also have a HDHomerun that I use for my local channels and those all record fine with Emby. A bit more info: Emby Server (4.9.0.29) running on Asustor NAS. xTeVe (2.2.0) running as a Docker container on Asustor NAS. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks.1 point

Is there now an idea on how to get Emby to ensure that a recording does not stop when the signal is lost but only when the show ends normally?1 point
-
After further investigation on my end, I believe that is the case as well with the signal dropping out and Emby stopping the recording. It seems to be one of those unfortunate things with IPTV that a lot of channels do freeze because it's not very stable (You get what you pay for) or stop for whatever reason and Emby just cuts off the recording. I set up NextPVR and that does continue to record so I guess it's a feature they have or something, not sure if this can be done with Emby but in the meantime, at least I appear to have a solution, plus there is a plug-in that you can use to import data from NextPVR into Emby. The only thing with that is it does not import the guide for whatever reason but to get around that, I just use XMLTV for the guide and that seems to work, so basically, I use NextPVR to just record what I need to, those recordings then show up in Emby and I watch Live TV in Emby as well as my DVR Recordings.1 point
-
Hi there, the problem is most certainly an automatic stop of the recording by Emby if the signal of the program was interrupted (too long...). Perhaps this could be changed so that the recording actually lasts as long as you want or have specified?1 point
-
HI do retry a few times before just failing it altogether. We are looking into this. Thanks.1 point

if you setup https on your Emby Server, and your server dashboard displays your remote address as https, then that's what Emby apps will use when connecting remotely.1 point
