  3. IS there any progress on this? Emby theater does not work with x64 emulation, it would be great to get a native ARM64 build. I'm on Surface Laptop 7. With windows pushing ARM more and more this is becoming more and more relevant.

  4. nvidia itself has said that the dolby processing feature is for one purpose: to convert dolby plus to dolby for devices that can't natively decode dolby plus and need it done for them. this is the best description of it that I've seen: I think you are getting confused by how nVidia (and others) phrase this. Dolby audio processing ENABLED means, let the Shield device handle it and decode the Dolby surround sound Dolby audio processing DISABLED means, ignore the audio format (basically) and let another device down the chain handle it (if you use a AVR, soundbar, etc) So the phrasing "enable Dolby processing to get surround sound" is kind of accurate. But i understand that it can be confusing. TL;DR If you use a AVR or other device behind the Shield which you want to handle the audio, disable it. If any device behind the Shield is not able to handle Dolby audio, then enable it. Maybe nVidia could change the phrasing to something like when its disabled "Enable to process Dolby audio by Shield" and when its enabled to "Disable to let Dolby audio be handled by another connected device" source: https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndroidTV/comments/vjy6ls/comment/idmw0gl/ Here's another reply directly from nvidia: Over the years with passthrough (before Dolby processing in the 2019 SHIELDs), we've had a number of users complain when they are playing a 5.1+ title and they pause/play it, they lose the first second or two of sound. This is becasue with passthrough, the recevier is being switched between DD and stereo and that switch causes gaps in the audio. Netflix has apparently had a lot of users complain about this as well and as such they've designed the netflix app to require Dolbys MS12 stack if you want ATMOS. The main reason for this is in the netflix app with that stack, they keep the recevier in DD mode so there is never any lost audio. So, this is one othe major benefits of this stack. The stack can also possibly cause av sync to be better since there is finer control than with passthrough. One of the downsides with the stack in Netflix is Netflix requires us advertise stereo shows as 5.1 by stuffing the channels with empty data. This is to avoid the switching between modes which causes the gaps, but the downside is since yoru recevier see's it as DD, you can't enable Dolby pro logic or the other receiver converting features. We've been working with netflix to figure out how to address this but don't have a good solution yet. Disabling Dolby Processing works around this in the meantime in exchange for gaps in the audio as the modes switch. Our goal for the entire SHIELD was to run it in the MS12 stack. One big problem we ran into with the current version is the latency of the Dolby stack is high, hundreds of ms high, enought that when you navigate menus, the lag feels terrible if it's enabled. This is one of the reasons Netflix has no clicks as you navigate the UI and also for this reason when SHIELD goes back to the home screen, we bypass the MS12 codec which causes a blip in audio but avoids the latency issue. Becaue of the issues above, there are a few reasons to disable the MS12 stack but disabling it has it's tradeoffs as well, like gaps in the audio as you play/pause/start new shows. We're working with Dolby to someday get a low latency version of the stack that we can leave on everywhere to have a smooth experience across the entire device without any audio drops as transitioning and without noticable latency that makes clicks feel sluggish. source: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/shield-tv/9/380402/dolby-audio-processing-enable-or-disable/2736774/

  5. I have searched the Feature Requests thread, and I know similar requests have been made, but only for general karaoke support with people requesting support for old depreciated formats as .mid and .kar. CDG+MP3 is by far the most common file format in Karaoke, and also the format used by most professionals. The sound and music quality is by far superior to the midi based file formats. CDG+MP3 is also directly supported in Ffmpeg, and can be transcoded on the fly using a simple command. The video format is only 300x216 (304x224 buffer dimension) so transcoding it would be very cpu friendly. The Ffmpeg command to convert the file is as follows: ffmpeg -copyts -i "01 - Rihanna - Russian Roulette.cdg" -i "01 - Rihanna - Russian Roulette.mp3" -b:v 1M -y "01 - Rihanna - Russian Roulette.MP4" This will force a 1meg video.. I don't know if that is a necessity, as it will produce a larger file than if you omit the -b:v 1M -y option.. The -copyts is there to ignore timestamps in the files, as sometimes this will induce a sync issue with the lyrics shown. Works flawlessly. Now, cdg+mp3 files are normally stored in .zip files to keep them together and for easy management. If there is a problem unzipping and using the files then deleting them after use, I see no problem unzipping the files and leaving them as pairs on the server.. The zipping is purely for ease of use and does not offer much of a space requirement reduction. Please consider this, as a Karaoke Jockey as a side gig, I know a lot of people enjoy this, and in these covid times, no shows are held, and people need entertaining. I serve my immediate family and friends with content, and to be able to add karaoke singing on the fly with emby would be a valuable addition. Best regards, dexus.

  11. Hi. Actually, the answer to this is no. The extended plans are stand-alone. Not really but if you send an email to billingsupport@emby.media we can try and work something out. In some cases, the fees charged by the processors eat into it enough that it doesn't make much sense. Correct. Answered here: Is there a limit to Emby Premiere?

  13. Actually, i did get the cloned drive up and running using stablebit drivepool. But the properties of the cloned drive did not matter on the real time features. I didnt get this to work using rClone. I wasnt able to create a cloned drive. One last thing, the developer of rar2fs told me if i also add the source of the rar'ed library in the mediaserver, it should work as a normal dir and update using the smart features. I havent tried this yet.

  16. Port 44 , Port 107 give you Accelarated VAAPI or NVDEC/NVENC (they are Fine as you have them setup) you can read @ https://hub.docker.com/r/emby/embyserver On most modern distros, the render node belongs to the video group, others belong to the render group. All you need to do is mount the render node and add the video group GID to the GIDLIST variable as described above. You can get the video and/or render GIDs using the following command: getent group video | cut -d: -f3 getent group render | cut -d: -f3

  17. Thanks for confirmation and I confirm ! All tracks I have been able to fully edit all tags are showing up perfectly well in Emby. Unhappy only software I have found so far in Linux that is able to do that is Musicbrainz Picard

  18. There isn't really a definitive standard or non-standard embedded tag. For the best results with as many applications as possible, you should use tagging software that can write to all of them.

  20. All metadata providers are disabled, and the files are organized appropriately based on how I want them to be (Series/Season/Episodes). I did just recreate all the NFOs in TMM and the most recent scan seems to have fixed the problem. It may have simply been a caching issue.

  23. It's been a few years and it would be really great to see some love from the devs, here. I still keep a secondary music streaming server running because searching in Emby is so limited in comparison. A simple artist and title search would go a long way to improving things.

  24. I was asked privately about displaying themes so I'll add this here in case anyone else might benefit from it. The use of themes can typically be turned on or off in Emby clients, so if not working as expected, make sure the client has the option(s) enabled. Example: Settings for the web client: @rekit Often times advanced features that use subdirectories expect the parent folder is used for a single movie/show/video so all metadata in the directory or subdirectories is for that one entity. You could have multi parts to a single movie or different versions of a specific movie in the same directory, but they are all related to the same movie. A 720, 1080 & 4K version of Top Gun (1986) could all be present in /Movies/Top Gun (1986) with a /backdrops folder that would work for Top Gun. You could not however have a /Movies/Tom Cruise folder that has both Top Gun and Days of Thunder in it with a backdrops folder as the relationship of backdrop to movie is not present. It's generally always best to have a single directory for each and every movie so everything in and below that directory is specific to the named directory.

  25. Hi. Your download issues would not be related to Premiere as, if that weren't validated, it wouldn't allow you to start that process.

  28. If you look around the forums, you'll see I've written many tips and tricks for Synology NAS boxes and the Synology 920+ in particular which has a Celeron J4125 CPU. From firsthand experience, I'll tell you 6 to 9 1080p transcodes while doing a 4K transcode isn't something to expect as far as performance and would be more of a planned "made for video" situation where videos are carefully selected. On the flip side, I can give you a "made for video" situation where this CPU can't transcode a single HDR video. Depending on the setup of the machine a J4125 may not have enough muscle to handle 2 live TV transcodes due to the IO, The onboard QuickSync is going to be similar on an Celeron, i3, i5, i7 or i9 from the same generation but it's more than that. What instruction sets does each have, have many cores are available, how much cache, what's the core speed & bandwidth, etc. The cores are being used to run the OS and programs running on it. They are being used for any special disk access like mirroring's, RAID, BTRFS, ZFS, for queuing reading/writing to disk, including the optional use of NVMe drives as a disk cache. Same with managing bonded NICs, IP4 and/or IP6 and handling calculations for SSL of all packets sent/received over the NICs. Not to mention the work the cores do to move data from storage to memory, to and from the PCI bus, the GPU, the cache to Quicksync. Short of using hardware with the ability to offload functionality from the CPU, the CPU is involved multiple times for nearly every byte of data that moves through the system. The number of cores available as well as PCI bandwidth can make a huge impact in overall performance. If something needing transcoding can't be done entirely in the Quicksync hardware pipeline the bandwidth and core count of the CPU becomes a big factor. A typical example of this is often working with media using non-text subtitles. If the CPU is now a bottleneck because there isn't enough cores/threads available to do what's needed without adding latency the transcode job is going to fail. Going from 2 to 4 cores will make a HUGE difference. Going from 4 to 8 cores generally will make a big difference. Going past 8 cores will make less overall difference in general. There isn't a specific answer what's the best CPU as you want to factor in what UHD graphics it has, what speed the CPU runs at, what type of core and how many, the number of threads it handles and of course the cost (cpu, motherboard, RAM, etc). The Intel 11700K the Op mentioned could be a great choice, but depending on parts that needs to be purchased the i7-12700K or i9-12900K both with UHD 770 Graphics could be a better investment depending on purchase prices.

  30. In order to use SSL, you'll need a domain. You can then use NGINX as Reverse Proxy. Or get a certificate and import it in Emby. You'll find lots of info in the forum for these options. I use a TS-664, and here's my setup, QNAP native only. 1. Assuming you are using the integrated https://YOUR_DOMAIN.myqnapcloud.com subdomain. Set up myQNAPcloud accordingly on your NAS, get your own certificate and subdomain. 2. Your router: Select an uncommon port, let's say 8734. Forward it to your QNAP, same port. 3. In the Control Panel, head over to Reverse Proxy, add one for Emby and set it up like this: 4. In Emby, go to the Network settings and fill in your data This approach will redirect the requests from https://YOUR_SERVER.myqnapcloud.com:8734 to your QNAP http://LOCAL_NAS_IP:8096. The certificate is handled by QNAP, so no need for messing around with invalid certificates etc (see last option). Do not forget to set https and the appropriate port in your Emby client (not 8096, 8734 in this case).

  32. Many thanks @softworkz , @Lukeand many others! Now @softworkzhas adopted the newly built Emby WMC UI v2.2x, we are testing it again and alreadty found some issues, which Softworkz mostly solved already: GREAT ! But for solving one longterm request, it seems that the Emby core should be worked on: the Remote Controle (RC) Chn.-+/-, the channelnummers when looking live-TV and as I understood from Softworkz, to support this, it should be implemented first in the kernel of Emby, probably by you @Luke or somebody else ? Please also see this ticket for more details, or contact @softworkzin order to get more details. It would be highly appreciated if this 'last' RC-issue can be solved by you ! As reference, please use the good-old Microsoft-RC and Microsoft-MCE.... If you have any question, please don't hesitate to ask! Grtz. Peter

  39. The Emby team hopes you and yours are enjoying a Happy Holiday Season. We would like to announce a couple of changes that will hopefully increase the value of Emby in all of your households. First, to aid in the transition from our old TV-only Android TV app to the new Standard Android app on that platform, we will be eliminating the need for the app unlock by allowing free playback for up to five TV devices per Emby Server. Devices beyond that limit will require Emby Premiere. Previously purchased unlocks will still be honored. This should allow most households to move to the new app more easily. Second, recognizing that today's households have more and more devices, we are increasing our standard Emby Premiere License device limit from 25 to 30. We will then also increase the extended premiere plans from 45 to 50 and 75 to 80. Existing extended subscriptions will remain the same but new ones will be at these new levels. All standard licenses will be automatically updated to the new 30 device limit immediately. You should see all of these changes rolling out over the next week or so. Happy Holidays from the Emby Team! View the full article

  40. I repeat, what I do is legal in France. I don't care if you consider it illegal. Besides, who are you to judge what I do with this tool? Even if it were illegal, if I wanted to use a hammer to kill someone, would you ban the manufacture of hammers? You've got to be intelligent for 5 minutes...

  41. Good morning, I was really fascinated by your service to the point that I purchased the annual license even before having any multimedia files. I have recommended your product to dozens of people who were unaware of the licensing issue deliberately made unclear. I have only just discovered the licensing issue myself, and I fully support the opinion of this person who urges you to reconsider your licensing method. Know that you will lose many customers because of this disagreement. I am willing to switch without any issues and alert all the people I recommended your service to. Best regards."

  43. The purpose of these "splinters" is precisely to allow the emby team to realize that their economic model is no longer adapted to the use that the users make of it. A project that doesn't listen to its community (and your message proves that I'm not the only one to complain) is doomed to disappear in the short or long term. I'm not a fan of changing creamery every 4 mornings. I prefer to trust a tool that I use and that I am satisfied with most of its features. But when something goes wrong, I say it clearly. Having only happy people in front of you doesn't allow you to know the true thinking of the majority of your audience towards you. Accepting criticism and confronting opposing opinions is much healthier than locking yourself in your bubble of benevolence. To conclude, I confirm you that I migrated on Jellyfin, which is maybe not as successful as Emby, but which has the merit to be clear about its license: it is free. And the mere fact that this fork exists shows that I am far from being the only one to think that this licensing system is pure theft. I will be able to contribute to the project by integrating some features from Emby to make it more complete. It seems that this is also the strength of capitalism: having to adapt to a competitor who can become better than you. Good luck for the future of your project, as far as I'm concerned, it will stop here (well in 1 year for some devices since I paid the license like a fool for the year, I might as well use it to the maximum of what it allows me...).

  45. The real problem is that I have a dozen nephews, parents, in-laws, cousins, and just now we are over 25 individuals. You add my work colleagues (about 15), and the few close friends I want to help financially (yes, taking a package on netflix + disney + premium + OCS + Apple etc... is extremely expensive), and you quickly reach 50 people. And I haven't even started talking to my sports buddies yet. This limitation is stupid. The international legislation is clear: a tool that allows to share freely personal content, remains a tool. How you get the content is none of your business. Otherwise, as kikinjo says, you'd be worse than Tesla at blacklisting a car remotely because you think hacking it is against YOUR rules. Your position is clearly not adequate. Your limitation is purely arbitrary and does not take into account the original spirit of sharing that has allowed the internet to develop for over 40 years. But, in short, I understand your position. I am already installing another solution and migrating my media libraries to it. You will have earned an annual license paid for nothing, good for you, and a pity for your community which will only crumble by staying on a dogma of this type.

EX: Because you watched The Force Awakens: Star Wars, Return of the Jedi, etc. Obviously I've already watched them. They all have green check marks next to them. Suggest something else. And not the Trailer to Rogue One. Stop suggesting the trailer to a movie that I've already watched. In fact, the trailer to the movie should automatically get a green check once I watch the movie.
