Yes there are two locations the default shipped server plugins /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/system/plugins and the program/plugins folder /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/plugins (ie /volume1/@appdata/EmbyServer/plugins). Emby Server Data Folder | Emby Documentation Users can technically use either as startup pushes system shipped to programdata/plugins. But users should be placing in programdata/plugins. But Synology is notorious for permission issues, so you need to correct the dll permission anytime you place one in the folder. 2025-02-10 20:07:51.710 Error App: Error loading assembly /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/plugins/ADMv2.dll *** Error Report *** Version: 4.8.8.0 Command line: /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/system/EmbyServer.dll -programdata /var/packages/EmbyServer/var -ffdetect /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffdetect -ffmpeg /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffmpeg -ffprobe /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffprobe -nolocalportconfig -ignore_vaapi_enabled_flag -pidfile /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/EmbyServer.pid -defaultdirectory /volume1/Public -updatepackage emby-server-synology72_{version}_x86_64.spk -noautorunwebapp Operating system: Linux version 3.10.108 (root@build5) (gcc version 12.2.0 (GCC) ) #64570 SMP Fri Jul 14 01:07:53 CST 2023 Framework: .NET 6.0.25 OS/Process: x64/x64 Runtime: volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 4 Data path: /var/packages/EmbyServer/var Application path: /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/system System.UnauthorizedAccessException: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '/var/packages/EmbyServer/var/plugins/ADMv2.dll' is denied. ---> System.IO.IOException: Permission denied --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Interop.ThrowExceptionForIoErrno(ErrorInfo errorInfo, String path, Boolean isDirectory, Func`2 errorRewriter) at Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle.Open(String path, OpenFlags flags, Int32 mode) at Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeFileHandle.Open(String fullPath, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize) at System.IO.Strategies.OSFileStreamStrategy..ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize) at System.IO.Strategies.FileStreamHelpers.ChooseStrategy(FileStream fileStream, String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, Int64 preallocationSize) at System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(String path) at Emby.Server.Implementations.ApplicationHost.LoadAssembly(String file) Source: System.Private.CoreLib TargetSite: Void ThrowExceptionForIoErrno(ErrorInfo, System.String, Boolean, System.Func`2[Interop+ErrorInfo,Interop+ErrorInfo]) InnerException: System.IO.IOException: Permission denied Source: TargetSite:

  6. Coming from VideoStation, a big disappointment is that Emby does not remember already used tags. So if I have a library with 100 movies with tag: horror, I have to type in the whole word "horror" every time I want to add the tag. There is no list of previously used tags I can simply click and choose from. That slows down the process significantly, especially with multiple tags in a movie, and also is a risk of messing up the tags with typos.

  7. I think it would be nice to have the Audience Rating (icon) / Audience Score for movies along with the Critic Rating (icon) / Critic Score. It looks like the data is available from the Rotten Tomatoes API via the ratings field. 14 "ratings": { 15 "critics_rating": "Certified Fresh", 16 "critics_score": 99, 17 "audience_rating": "Upright", 18 "audience_score": 91

  8. Please click "Like this" and share it if you want to support this feature. Thank you ! Hello, There is a Kodi addon call "gdrive" from ddurdle who can read videos (original and transcoding version) directly from Google Drive. Why not build on this idea to integrate Google Drive as source directly in Emby Server ? In addition, Emby could generate automatically the STRM files from one or many Drive folders. And transcodings are already available with Drive so no need to transcode with Emby server. What do you think ? ------------- Three reasons why this feature will be useful and awesome: 1. Cloud is the future and today the cost is affordable. I have a Google Drive Unlimited for $50/month (ie $600/year) and I have unlimited space that is secured against crashes. Knowing the cost of hard drive and the cost of power consumption, its a very good deal. 2. Google Drive transcode video file. This provides different stream quality like Youtube (1080p, 720p, 480p and 360p) and the "image quality/compression ratio" is very satisfying. I can play 720p video on my poor 4 Mbits DSL. 3. You don't need to have a big server. Personally, I opted for a little dedicated server (Kimsufi 2G) for the cost and I can leave it run 24/7! Furthermore, me and my friends can watch movies from anywhere! Basics features that should be included: GOOGLE APPS OAUTH2 for activation and permission playing transcoded version (MP4 360p, 480p, 720p & 1080p) directly into Emby's app playing original file (avi, mkv, mp4) directly into Emby's app import embedded subtitles porwerful script module for multiple folder scanning and STRM generating

  9. That sounds like a commercial server which, like any of that kind, is in no way affiliated with nor supported by Emby; moreover, they're very likely in breach of Emby's TOS. You'll have to contact that server admin and/or whomever gave you access to that server.

  11. Yes. The back end will collect a device ID, an app name (i.e. Roku SG) and version and the Premiere key in use on the server. No personal data is sent.

  14. I do very little encoding, so know just as little about it but, any program that can encode should be able to do it, just remember to passthrough the audio (not re-encode that too) Many people use Handbrake, it's a relatively easy program to learn.

  15. I just use a trow away email address (nobody@here.com) So i tested a file, admittedly something i should have done to start with and can only apologize for that. The videos seems to be encoded weirdly and does indeed lag like crazy, so the fault might lie with them. I ran one through a re-encode while not touching the sound and it worked fine after that, that can explain why the file worked after a trans code. Makes you wonder about the company making those videos if they can't encode their stuff right. VLC might be a bit more tolerant towards some files than Exoplayer (Used by Emby) so reason for it working there. Btw.. My subwoofer and neighbors in a huge radius hate me now, the bass in the video i tested loud and i had forgotten to turn down my receiver from last i used it.

I was actually thinking to post if anyone else with an android that isn't a Samsung or Pixel could check because I also agree that I don't see why they would have hover if they don't have a pen. From what I understand this is basically a hobbyist website, maybe whomever developed it only had mostly Samsung devices and that's what drew them to that conclusion.

  24. Like @visproductionsays, it's an easy tryout. Past the code into the Emby server CSS field, and the Web page changes immediately. If you don't like it, delete content in the field save to get back to stock visuals. No knowledge of CSS coding needed. Unfortunately, the CSS theming does not work for any client except Web since they mostly are built from scratch. That's why I suggested to incorporate the CSS theming feature to the clients before invest menpower into a Skin engine. Theming via CSS is already there and when using server CSS on clients, the Emby dev team could lay the theming in the users hands and spend energy on more core features under the hood. This works pretty well on Jellyfin, I guess because their clients are wrapped up web applications baked into e.g. the Android apk. This is the forum section for Web CSS: Web App CSS - Emby Community There are several CSS themes like vis' one, the Plex theme or the classic cinema theme. Check out the last pages of the corresponding threads to get the latest code if you'd like to try it out.

  25. FCC records are fubar. How can you not list the flagship NBC station? Maybe because they don't know what WNBC is: The FCC doesn't know it's the flagship NBC station because they think the call sign has been assigned to NBC TELEMUNDO LICENSE LLC since 1992. https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/public/tv/publicCallSignSearchResults.html NBC sold its broadcasting spectrum in 2017 for $214 million. They sold 3 station broadcasting rights between NY & Chicago for $480 million. They now broadcast using spectrum owned by WNJU which is the flagship Telemundo NBC station.

  28. so it begs the question, in which scenario would you have external subs if you did not intend to use them primarily? If embedded subs were fine, there would be no need for external ones. So the very presence of external subs should indicate that they should take a higher priority over anything else no?

  29. i had to actually look for it... yes they are split, and they should not have been.... dont know why it is either... welp time to move them to 1 folder. either way, tried to roll back to 3.2.0.0 which worked the was it was intended and used to work, but of course, plug in auto updates to the newest side note: in EMBY there IS and option to combine shows. expecting them to be in different folders. this plug in never had an issue before with that. now it does. AND seeing the "counting specials" was fixed before, next update broken again. total episodes - total specials = total number of REAL episodes.

  34. So I'd just like to add an option to the subtitle settings that when turned on, Emby ignores the “default” tag for embedded subtitles; when turned off, everything is equal. This way it would satisfy everyone

  35. @sross44 I don't know if you're still following this thread, but I just hit on another Plex vs. Emby difference that Emby wins: Support for Linux Mint. At least one of Plex's support staff who specializes in Linux repeatedly told me and others not to use Linux Mint, because it was too unstable. That was never my experience. I never encountered an issue with Plex that could be attributed to Mint, but nevertheless, Plex officially does not support running Plex on Linux Mint, while Emby does.

  36. I don't know if this happens, but what if a user wants things to be the other way around and they want embedded files that are set as Active to be prioritized and they don't want any old extra external file to be considered more important, just because it is there. If Emby considered the external file to be priority even if it is not even labeled as default, aren't you taking away the rights of the user who wants the Active subtitle inside the media to be the priority. How can a software developer give priority to one that is not even labeled as default. What kind of programs would you end up with? I think you would have software that only works for a few users and everyone else would just leave because the rules are crazy.

  40. I don't know what type of effect it would have, but maybe my previous suggestion makes sense if you missed it... Rather than a bunch of new library types, just make the visual cues a little more uniform. When you click on a library, the Suggestions tab uses the content type for a heading (i.e.; "Latest Audio Books") instead of the library name ("Latest Podcasts"). I also have two music libraries, and they both suggest "Latest Music" (which works in this case), but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it used the name again "Latest Music" and "Latest Classical Music". Just using the library name would fix this visual oddity, but I'm not sure if others wouldn't like it...? Doing this would at least remove that obvious visual reminder that the library type doesn't really reflect the content accurately throughout the GUI... And would allow other libraries to be created without highlighting what type of library is being used to host any other kinds of media people may have. I mean, if you make a library called "Television Commercials", it wouldn't suggest something awkward like "Latest Movies" for that library. It would just say "Latest Television Commercials"... If that makes sense? Just my two cents. Have a great day.

  43. It's far from equivalent. For one, it takes forever to load, and for another, it doesn't allow for grouping by series to make an overall view. This is now the 3rd change since I've started using Emby that has seriously made me consider going back to an older version. What you had before worked. This is all but useless.

  46. Hi, I have a request. Is it possible to support all kind of lists from TMDB and not only movie sets? Now, let's say I make a collection in Emby and add the TheMovieDb Id of it. For example I add 8091, the Alien Collection, then Emby adds the link in the interface https://www.themoviedb.org/collection/8091 Any chance to include support for all kind TMDB Lists too? Basically support not only tmdbcolid, but something like tmdblistid too? For example if I set the TheMovieDb List Id as 10, the Top 50 Grossing Films of All Time, then Emby would add this link in the interface https://www.themoviedb.org/list/10 Now it opens the link below and it is not what I would like to be opened. https://www.themoviedb.org/collection/10 TMDB lists are very powerful and a good asset for my own custom Emby collections. Thank you in advance.
