@Happy2Playlooks like you nailed it asking about the browser. I just tested with the theme still in place in Firefox and have the buttons. Will now go into Arch and back up Chromium's default folder there and replace it in Garuda to see if that addresses the issue. EDIT: I think it's most likely specific to this install of the OS cause at mentioned above it happened in chrome as well. Yea it is specific to this install of the OS.3 points

Yes, that's exremely unfortunate, everything had been ready, including videos (Emby Show) to accompany the beta introduction, but at this time, the window is closed. On the good side though: the Windows/Xbox client beta is progressing well, and if we'd get to resume the TVnext path afterwards - like officially promised - then it would be good news regarding H.265 as well. Like I had mentioned earlier in this topic, H.265 streaming via HLS is also a topic in the context of TVnext. Not with transcoding, but as mentioned earlier, TVnext is also meant to serve as a new foundation for HLS streaming in general, and I've just seen that Apple has opened up (a little) towards AV1 in their HLS authoring spec, so that's good news as well, confirming HLS as a viable path, going forward.3 points

Hello, i'd like to suggest a way to have a greater variability on library icons, especially for libraries on the left menu side. For instance the symbols for music and audiobooks are the same. Also the symbols for "Series" and "recorded series" are the same. So, my suggestion is to use a greater variability, for instance keeping the "Headphones" for audiobooks and change to "Music Note" for music. The symbols for series could be kept but for recorded series use "radio button checked" as it looks like a record symbol. One other way would be to make it customizable at all. Of course one can use css, but this only would change the symbols in the web app and not in the windows or android app. Kind regards2 points

show the playlist connected to each song when viewed in list of table mode. 1. open music library 2. click songs > settings > view = table >Show field "Playlists" Display All the playlist the song is connected to. Sort by number of playlist?2 points

Yes but this is the opposite. I only care about seeing music playlist under the Music library tab. "Main Screen > Playlist row" I just didn't want to see music playlist mixed with all my other playlist on the home screen or the "My Media > Playlist"2 points

Yep. That is exactly what I was talking about.2 points

Try this. Ask the user to stop playing the stream as opposed to backing out of playing and see if that makes a difference.2 points

Why are you using an smb path? You already configured your docker to map your media directory, so all you need to do is select it from the list. When you click the '+ Add' button next to 'Folders' the list should contain the mapping you created. Scroll the list you should see /media - once you select it, you can then select the sub folder Movies or TV Series, etc Try adding the top level folders that way, then remove the existing smb paths. It should kick off a new library scan. See how that goes.2 points

@fillidillI am trying to duplicate the error you discovered. @feerlessleadrand @Tremas, @TZTZoroand I are coding the ideas you proposed. We should have something to show soon. Neither of us have a lot of free time, so give us a few days. We will create a code core on which we can build out to make what you want. Vic2 points

Maybe it's stupid what I'm going to say but, what about sending an email to all your users (all of them friends and family) with something like this ? Dear XXX, Please before recording from LiveTV a TV Show, check if the show is already on TV Shows in Emby. I've noticed that one of my users is repeately scheduling a recording of TV Show XXX that is already in the server. Recording uses space and Hard Disks Live time from my server and it's a waste of usage and resources to record something that is already there. Thanks for your understanding. In fact I had this issue with one of my 5 users 1 year ago, and an email like this stopped this behaviour. Hope this helps.2 points

One example is it would make something like the process of renaming a video file or upgrading to a newer quality version more difficult because you'd lose watch data.2 points

Hey there guys, I've proposed this in some thread already, but I think it would be very handy to sort media of artists into different groups, as musicbrainz does for example. For instance, implement the option to enable sorting artist's music into, e.g., "Albums", "Singles", "Live albums", "Compilations", etc. I have no idea if this is quickly done or rather takes a lot of work, but it would be very cool to have imho. Currently, media of bands like AC/DC or Michael Jackson, so artists making music since some decades, have 50+ albums/singles/etc. cluttering the artist view, making it very hard to find a specific item of that artist. If we would have the option to have this sorted out into different groups, it'd make the artist view more cleaned up. Cheers boys and girls! Have a great day (or night) ahead!1 point

I am trying to add theme music to my movie collection. Where is the collection folder stored? Is there a collection folder at all all? Is this even possible? I got my movies and tv shows to work by following these steps here Emby Theme Songs & Videos : Emby but I can't seem the find directions for the collections.1 point

CURRENT STATUS: SSO: Not yet planned LDAP: Development COMPLETED - BETA AVAILABLE >180 direct endorsements >30 MONTHS (>2.5 years) >12,000 views PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP - - - - - PLEASE LIKE - - - - - PLEASE BUMP This would greatly expand Emby's usage, and possibly more enterprise level adoption, user templating, user groups, SSO, etc. There are also users who have completely abandoned Emby and ended subscriptions due to the lack of this necessary basic functionality. Note: SAML2 is also part of this request. (header auth is also acceptable, at a minimum.) Context: I am trying to use something like openfire as a Instant Messaging solution which already supports LDAP and SAML2. So this would allow the current user of emby to seamlessly use web-based instant messenger with the same username and password as Emby without the need to enter them into a form. This would also allow universal login to be shared with my home PC's, Spiceworks, Ombii, Organizr, etc. The multitude of possible flexible functionality this could add is truly incredible. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE, myself and others cannot manage a userbase with proprietary passwords for a single service (with no self-service password reset/recovery), when things that have only months of development implement it within days, easily. Status: LDAP - Development Completed - BETA AVAILABLE! Common LDAP solutions to test against:Open LDAP (Open Source) [use this] ApacheDS OpenDJ 389 Directory Server Microsoft Active Directory SSL is NOT actually needed, but Emby team insisted on it anyways: Simply offering a toggle option for auth to send plaintext or encrypted passwords would work just fine. It is ironic to claim the need to be overly security conscious of user passwords, while lagging behind on basic SSL. If SAML is implemented, a SAML request/response can just be signed by an x509 and it is just as secure as TLS using SSL. SSL does not need to be natively supported, as it is perfectly possible to run it through an SSL reverse proxy tunnel and have the same effect. SSL Feature Request: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33983-ssl-integrationsupport/&do=findComment&comment=322526As of now username and password is encrypted client-side as security as SSL is not natively implemented. Emby team has said this impedes the adoption of both SSO and LDAP. Please see our SSL request topic; like, comment, and endorse it to show how many people would enjoy/gain from this basic security. Ways to satisfy this FR: Direct LDAP connector SAML2 connector General SSO functionality (SSO Header, etc) Allowing user header auth NGINX auth support RADIUS Authentication Other features that are inherently possible if this is implemented: Self service passwords Ability for users to invite users/guests Expiring Accounts (after duration/trigger) Unified credentials for many services Corporate level authentication security User groups Mass User management Update 1: I encourage others to work on this but I am currently seeing what I can do to develop a solution to this myself. If you have experience in this LDAP/SSO/SAML2/SSL/.NET contact myself, @@Luke, @@ebr or the Emby team to let them know, any help is greatly appreciated! By everyone! Update 2: I know there is always the question of "well how many users actually want/will use this", so I compiled a list of some of the other threads/sites where people request this (to apparently no effectiveness in motivating the team). Update 3 (18 MONTH UPDATE): This request has now hit 18 months in age, NO progress made thus far whatsoever. ( ) Update 4: This FR is now the 4th most liked post ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and the 3rd most liked FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM (ever), the 1st most liked active FR ON THE ENTIRE FORUM and over 4000 views. Counting endorsements besides those on this thread show over 115 direct requests/endorsements for this basic functionality. Lets get this moving guys, this is getting to be a bit much. Almost 2 years waiting on this now. Source Update 5 (9/20/2017): This feature request is now the MOST DESIRED REQUEST EVER MADE TO EMBY, sadly, that has not merited any progress at all. The staff has been working on things they believe Emby users want or may want, but it is clear what people want. We can only hope now our wishes are respected instead of being told what we want and having our requests dismissed. Source Update 6 [2 year update] (10/17/2017): Two years and not a single bit of progress has been made. TWO YEARS!!! To say this is disappointing is an understatement. The entire reason I went from Plex to Emby was because of local user management. THIS IS THE ONLY REASON, so naturally I wanted to have complete control over my users, but after TWO YEARS, still nothing. Update 7 (3/6/2018): DEVELOPMENT HAS STARTED!!! Check Luke's recent comments, if you want to test it out, download the latest beta and install/configure the LDAP plugin to test and give feedback!!! Update 8 (4/6/2018): Development on the LDAP connector has completed from what I gather, not sure if this is only a beta or a primary release; SSO is still a plan for the future but has not been touched. Progress made by other users (looks to be nearly, if not fully complete): https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/1885 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/pull/2139 Exploits shown by other users against Emby (emphasizing the need for a centralized authentication solution): https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12335-unauthenticated-access-over-the-internet-to-logs-folder/ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/20376-all-folders-visible-to-all-users-after-upgrade/ Related FR that could be helpful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46635-support-for-logging-users-in-though-url-scheme/?hl=user Any of these could be interesting to have compatibility with: http://lemonldap-ng.org/welcome/ https://github.com/Jasig/cas http://passportjs.org/ https://www.nginx.com/resources/admin-guide/restricting-access-auth-request/ LDAP/SSO/SAML Requests (~180 endorsements) [>12,000 views] > 95 endorsements on this post ~ 30 endorsementshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1146 > 35 endorsementshttps://www.bountysource.com/issues/24943821-authenticate-users-using-ldap > 14 endorsementshttps://feathub.com/tidusjar/Ombi/+122 > 4 endorsementshttps://www.reddit.com/r/emby/comments/5o44wd/creating_deleting_updating_users_with_the_api/ Interview, in article comments user said lack of LDAP STOPPED him from using Emby (Emby is actually losing customers due to the lack of this NECESSARY basic functionality):https://www.linux.com/news/software/multimedia/856128-exclusive-interview-emby-founder-luke-pulverenti Duplicate, user had no progress on first 2 posts (no one from Emby actually tracked this or even replied to him):http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/861-mb3-and-active-directory/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/867-mb3-and-active-directory/ Auth announcement, user 'Drashna' in comments requested LDAP/ADhttp://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-177-manage-your-home-with-emby-users/ Various similar requestshttps://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2494 https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/2493 https://forum.yunohost.org/t/integration-emby/912 http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/13081-active-directory-integration/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/11200-media-browser-3-server-ldap-active-directory/ External SQL auth request:http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/27986-emby-and-shared-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23509-authenticate-users-via-external-mysql-database/ http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/12001-external-login-to-mysql/ #ADFS #SSO #LDAP #ActiveDirectory #MSAD #SAML #SAML2.0 #SAML1.1 #PingFederate #OKTA #LemonLDAP #JASIG #authentication #auth #TLS #SSL #Usergroup #usertemplate #header #authheader #headerauth #security #hardening #authhardening #authenticationheader #externalauth #centralauth #centralizedauth #centralizeddb #exploit #authexploit #security #loginhardening #authenticationhardening #accesscontrol #.NET #SelfService #RADIUS1 point

Short update: I am getting "4:00 am" returned from the API. What that tells me is that Emby is storing the value as UTC, so midnight here (EST) is 4am UTC. It is daylight savings here in NY, and 4 hours behind Zulu or UTC or UCT or CUT or GMT or whatever you prefer to call it. However, the root of my original problem was not related to this...it is just an observation. Reality is it probably should not provide the time at all and just the date, but doesn't affect me here...but might some people.1 point

Ah got it thank you. My research mentioned something about needing an HTTP host listening. I think this was a nice idea but that goes beyond the scope I'm looking for. If this eventually gets added to the built in webhook functionality, that would be great. If I can lend that feedback anywhere else, please let me know! Appreciate the info.1 point
-
The way webhooks work is you receive the webhook http request on some other server, read the data, and then process and act on it depending on what you want to do.1 point

I'm actually in the process of switching from trueNAS Core to Scale so some of the paths are no longer correct.. I cleaned some of them up last night and gave up before heading to bed.. as of this morning i see the library scan was able to run and complete successfully. It found my current library and imported it as required.. I think all looks good as of now.. thank you.1 point

Sort of saw the issue here as ebr was thinking the same as me needing a higher value to not create collections if the info exists.1 point

No, if this task is disabled by default. Meaning that this can be implemented but not scheduled, only users want to use it will create a schedule. And A warning like "By running this task, all deleted media watch history will be lost" and a confirmation Popup "Are you sure you want to continue?" may be enough1 point
-
Now I understand it. You need some kind of support for "Seasoning". Seasons (Christmas, Halloween, etc) that you can define and that will modify automatically your home screen and all libraries based on that. It's a great idea and your approach of "deleting content" and "reading it" is at least a way to make this appears as the first items on every library "My Media" is presenting. Definetly you will need a script, and sorry I cannot help on that.1 point
-
I fully understand the retention of watch history. I'm not suggesting changing this as the default, rather having a maintenance task that can be OPTIONALLY scheduled (monthly, quarterly, whatever) for users like me that want to periodically reset missing information. That's all. If you don't want the default behavior to change, you simply have to do nothing at all. Move your media around to your hearts content, nothing changes. For me, I'd like a task to run once a month that simply finds the missing media, and sets it to unplayed. It doesn't affect anyone that doesn't set it up to run at a scheduled interval. You have to understand that my Christmas example didn't explain everything. It's Christmas, Halloween, documentaries, and even TV shows. This month I may have season 1-3 of Family Guy. Next month I might swap that for seasons 4-5, etc... It's TV, movies, all of it... It's not something that can have special libraries set up for a specific holiday. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that. I know I'm a special case with this, and I'm not trying to be offensive or break people's setups. I'm looking for a solution to my specific problem. Some suggestions here I will have to look into further to figure out what works, if anything. It's a unique problem I CREATED. I thought I might raise the issue, since others might find a fix to this beneficial. It's easy to think "this guy is crazy for doing this complicated setup", but honestly... it's no more crazy than me thinking "who are these people constantly moving their media around". LOL1 point

The 6.8 kernel has problems with Intel Arc cards. Basically tone mapping plus some power saving stuff doesn't work. Sounds like it might be the cause of your problem. NEOReadDebugKeys=1 OverrideGpuAddressSpace=48 Is needed to fix it or another Kernel.1 point

Apparently it's now a known issue: https://www.androidauthority.com/google-tv-streamer-problems-3488446/ I ended up returning the Google Streamer (and not sure I'll try it again if/when the issue is reported to be fixed). IMHO the (Walmart) onn 4K Pro is just as good (and doesn't have the sync issue), but we actually use the Homatics Box R 4K Plus more.1 point

As stated on top of library edit page, any change made to library settings/options will apply only to new items going forward. For existing items, for some changes made to be reflected Refresh Metadata will suffice, for some (like in your particular scenario) it won't, so you'd have to remove those items from your library root folder(s), run Scan media library task to clear the dB and then reimport them. Or manually change Date Added field(s) in Edit Metadata dialog to reflect desired dates1 point

Hi, currently most display settings are per user. That's not to say we couldn't allow these to be per device, but there's just a lot to figure out here in terms of how to make it intuitive so that users know exactly what it's going to apply to.1 point

Example: in DS Video there is no limit of new currently added movies/updated series etc. They are just shown in the overview in a row as added. It would be great to have a option to modify "neueste Medien" to enlarge the number of shown new media files from currently 16 to more: 20, 50, 100, no limit. So there is also a chance to check the completeness of new added media (Filmpost, Name, etc.). Users see also newest Data more than number 16. Of couse there should be a Link to the "created libraries" so you can choose for each individually. Everybody using Emby could decide so on their own, if they want to use it or not.1 point
-
For sure but I'm not an expert on scripting and I don'r know if the user requesting this can do it with a script. In any case, If a "played" option is available for libraries, same as for seasons and for episodes, movies, whatever, seems logic to me that is possible to mark as "unplayed" a library the same way you can do it with an episode, a movie, a season or whatever in emby, except a library.1 point
-
You can mitigate this with the trakt plugin, i use it as a playsate backup, so if for some reason i need to rebuild my library all my played items regain their Played status after syncing, is useful too if you go to se a movie to the theater and later when added to you library it will be marked as Played in the trakt sync schedule task.1 point

These gestures were actually already implemented in older versions of the app, and were removed due to reports of accidental presses and the above as per @darkassassin07 Agreed, they should always be optional if ever. Always a mixed bag of experience with these things.1 point

I won't speak for anyone else; but I absolutely LOATH gesture controls. I already hate Emby taking over the devices brightness and forcing you to use the in-app slider. Please, for the love of god; if implemented, make this optional.1 point

okay, but if i upgrade my files for example from a 1080p release to a 4k release, the file gets deleted, if emby scans in that time or the file watcher gets triggered the item gets marked as no longer played, but it is just a in place upgrade. i think more users have this kind of setup so they do not want that a deleted item gets marked as unplayed i understand your use case, i really dislike rewatching stuff so i would never be the intended people for it and just store it forever but maybe a quick solution for you is, if you mount your themed folders as a single library like this and when you want to remove it you run(and write) a script which marks all items from that folder as unplayed so it gets featured again next year I have no clue what db vacuum exactly does, maybe it does remove the unused items so it might solve your problem, you might try it out MAKE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP Maybe someone else can explain it more Off topic: maybe some ideas what i do, i have a playlist with themes like chistmas cheer, i use virtualtv/psuedotv (they are plugins) to create live tv channels and i play them in the background based on my media because i just dislike what is on real tv now a days as fillers Maybe this is an idea for you as well1 point

Trying to find the problem I have installed mediabrowser server on an other system, on windows 8.1 ent running as virtual machine. And I still have the same problems. Mediabrowser version is the latest beta release 3.0.5445.6, I have attached the server logs. As another example of the date problem here the movie.xml file of a movie (American Beauty) The added date is 27/11/2014 16:04:58 and the premiere date 1999-09-15 When I open this profile in the metadata I get the following dates, added date 2014-11-27 (correct one) but a premiere date of 1999-09-14, this is a day earlier than in the xml file When I make a change, like adding the correct parental rating for my country and save the profile the dates are also changed in the movie.xml file. When I open the profile again in the metadata editor, both dates will be shown a day earlier. I would be nice if somebody else could confirm they have the same problem. server-63552977829.txt1 point
