Actually what's happening here is this label is just incorrect. It's a quirk that's happening with your combination of user restrictions. It's something that needs to be looked at.3 points

Personally I prefer the ATV app to the newer Universal Android app, but each to their own. There's a 100+ page discussion thread here, which discusses the differences between the 2 apps.3 points

Someone is trying to access your Emby server. You just need to let MalwareBytes do it's thing and block access.3 points
-
Take a look at how the ATV app does it and you'll see the difference, as it's a much better UX. I assume the Universal Android app does the same as the web client, but as it's still unusable for me, I haven't tried it in ages.3 points

It all appears to be working as it should. I don't know what happened. It seems to have only started when I moved the drives to a new NAS. All good now. Thanks everyone for your help.3 points

The 'http' here isn't https vs http, it's just denoting http protocol version 1.1 is being used. That may or may not be wrapped in a ssl/tls layer to make it into https (probably is if you're using a proxy in front), but that won't be shown there.3 points

At the end I edited some permission and then Emby asked me to redo setup. Not a big deal, all of the metadata is on .nfo files, and everything looks like it's working now. Thanks!2 points

I have to say, I've finally got everything I wanted! The Emby server is highly compatible and smooth on the original Ubuntu. The APU8600G has lower power consumption and better performance for transcoding. I think my XPEnology can finally be shut down. Thank you all!!!2 points

It took my 25tb server 3-4 days to complete and that’s without intro detection. Intro detection should def be set after the original scan. Then I would change it to scheduled task and when added and then set a time limit.2 points
-
Yes, it does. I guess it is just back to relying on scheduled scans.2 points

Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless1 point

@TremasWe are all learning. Here new ideas are always welcome and tried, if for no other reason than to learn how to do them. I am learning more about what you want every day and hopefully we can devise a solution. @feerlessleadralso has some great ideas. Vic1 point

Hi, it will take time to get through the Synology review process. If you want to upgrade immediately you can always download the spk from our website. Thanks.1 point

* Further fix to allow the addon: Need to go into extensions, and select Modify on "Container Tab Groups" addon. Then go to Options, Languages and User Agents, and Check "Per-container User-Agent Overrides", and set whatever container Emby will load in as "Chrome" for the user agent. (Default, Custom -- with valid Mozilla UA, and others do not work -- apparently only faking Chrome UA works in the addon)1 point

I came to say what TZTZoro said. Why not upscale the source yourself and keep it with the original? There's no need to use all that computing power time after time. Disc space is getting cheaper all the time, too. Why would you rip to 480p unless that's the source's native resolution?1 point
-
suppose you got multiple users, why not upscale the source file? It will reduce server load and you do not have to wait for the devs to implement it if you want the source file to be original make a duplicate?1 point

Hi. This would likely end up with some side-effects you wouldn't like. For instance, re-arranging your folder structure would lose all your playstates...1 point

Paused live TV streams continue to "transcode" and fill up the temp transcode folder unnecessarily. Since there's no "DVR" in this setup, users typically pause live TV when they turn off their TV. This results in wasted server resources and unnecessary endless caching. Implement a admin defined feature to automatically kill paused live TV streams immediately or after a short period, particularly when transcoding is active (which is always in case of live TV). Ensure this doesn’t affect paused media files that aren’t being transcoded, as they don’t cause the same resource issue. Consider making this behavior configurable for different user setups.1 point

Thanks Luke, the Emby For Android takes a little more time to load, but the playback issues are all solved and the resume works as expected. So good trade off. Cheers for the solution1 point
-
Agreed - it's the reason that is incorrect. Technically you are 'transcoding' even if it's just the audio that is being changed - as AV is interleaved - it just means that a 'copy' process is done to video stream, as opposed to re-encode.1 point

I did a rescan under Library > Scan Library Files Then tested the iPad and still get playback error. New log files attached. (Other devices, laptop and iOS app, seem to work fine today... maybe just the old iPad is the issue.) embyserver.txt hardware_detection-63864661761.txt embyserver-63864661695.txt1 point

There hasn't been any development of the Android TV (ATV) app for a while, save for bug fixes, as the Emby development team are trying to sunset the ATV app, in favour of the Universal Android app, but this has been on-going for around 4 years so far. What is it that you feel needs updating in the ATV app please? Which modern UI?1 point

Thanks so much. I wonder why I didn't find that on my original search? I guess I will learn someday1 point

Yes, that is what I was thinking. Basically like the effect of a DVR recording a new episode every week whether you watch it or not. However, I guess it could be a setting for the user to choose a rigid schedule every day or every week no matter what, or flexible schedule where it waited until you watched the episode then released on the next matching day of the week or whatever. What I wouldn't want is for the release date to constantly change based on the day you watch. So if a show was releasing weekly on a Friday and I waited until Wednesday to watch, I wouldn't want it to release the next episode on the following Wednesday. On a different note, from a user interface standpoint, one thing that might be beneficial is once a schedule has been setup, provide a spreadsheet view showing all the upcoming release dates. That way if they decide for just this weekend they want to binge watch half a dozen episodes, they could go in and manually release them. Then it should probably recalculate the entire schedule after any manual override, rather than, for example, wait six weeks before resuming on the old schedule.1 point

Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.1 point

If you're trying to add a new library and have it detect intro's at the same time, there is an expectation that this will take a considerable amount of time. You can split out these tasks. Are you following Emby's recommended naming scheme for media? TV Naming Some server logs and screenshots of how your library is configured would also be helpful: How to Report a Problem1 point

it could be very helpful if Emby would implement "future viewing" where you FF into the future and thereby get things from sports scores before the matches end to Mega-millions numbers before the drawing. It would be very handy and I could use the cash. Actually I do not ever even try to use trick play on live TV but I think it either should work or there should be a message, like I see on some streaming services, saying the trick play is not available on this video at this time. I do not see a need for trick play on live TV currently recording (except for viewing the future) but others seem to feel differently.1 point

New version 2.1.0.0 in the plugin catalogue: Channels: Added option to selectively enable channels for specific users Added option to create copies of existing channels Added option to always play the very first unwatched episode of tv shows (it's within the sorting options: ... Ordered Episodes Playback) Added option to balance the number of episodes of each tv show in the guide data up to the specified percentage of the tv show with the most episodes Splitted Include/Exlude named Movies/TVShows into separate inputs Added option to select multiple bumpers folder (currently only main folders of home videos & photos libraries) Fixed some issues around Collection and Playlist channel conditions The plugin should not auto update, so a manual download from the catalog is required. As usual, you should clear your browser cache before opening the plugin config page. Because of the changes some of your channel settings will get lost!1 point

The first thing to try to fix this is to delete the user's Connect email address in Emby, save the user, then add it again to remake the Connect connection. Paul1 point

Thanks, Carlo, for your response! I think I can see what happened. "Setting up the DVR" on version 4.8.10 seems to have changed from previous versions. The help page on the web says to "Click DVR in the administrator dashboard under the Live TV menu". This menu item is no longer there, but the things it covered look to be in the Advanced tab on the Live TV menu page. I went to that tab and, without changing anything, clicked Save at the bottom, and scheduled a recording. It showed up under Schedule in the Live TV section of the home page as it should, and started on time, and was removed from under Schedule when it started. However, it did not then show up under Recordings. Reviewing the Live TV Advanced menu page, I suspected that this might be because I left the "Default recording folder" entry blank. I then found that the system had automatically created a Recordings library at the default location, and I set the Default recording folder to this on the Live TV Advanced menu page. At last the recordings did show up under Recordings in the Live TV section of the home page as they should do. I haven't rechecked this, but I don't think I set the DVR up on version 4.3.0. I think it was set up with the default options without me doing this. It seems, though, that version 4.8.10 needs an explicit DVR options set-up. I suggest that the user friendly thing to do would be to revert to the practice of automatically setting up the DVR with the default options, and to revert to having an explicit DVR set-up page rather than putting the DVR options in an Advanced tab, which many users won't look at. I also suggest that the documentation on the web might need some slight revision. Now that this has been sorted out, I'm looking forward to using the system :=)1 point

Yes I have a VPN, But I had a split tunnel excluding Emby from passing through the VPN. I thought if included Emby then adding a dedicated IP that it may resolve the issue. However I think I figured it out. I noticed UPNP was enabled on this router which was an oversight on my behalf (I'll pretend I'm not an IT Engineer for my day job). No disconnect in over 24 hours.1 point

In the Network Settings you need to change the "secure connection mode" to select "Required for all remote connections", and you need to enter your domain in the external domain field. So you force secure connection for all external connections, this is recommended or lets say a MUST for alexa to work. After that, you need to unlink your alexa emby skill, link it again and run the setup of the skill again, and it should work. Unfortunately it still is unusable because you can't talk to alexa like we would do it in german, instead you need to say, "Alexa ask emby home to play XY," which in german is like you are talking like a jugo "alexa frag emby zuhause zu spielen FILMNAME... Thanks for details but how did it appear just by changing properties of a library ? there is a very serious issue/bug there no ? Well I just deleted the library.db and redid the whole indexation of medias from scratch and will see how it goes... So far it runs perfect and Emby is lot faster than before !1 point

I have a number of OSTs I'd like to retain in my music library which I would very much like to also feature as theme-music for their associated movies and shows. Rather than creating duplicate copies of the albums, I'd like to be able to reference the files where they are and save the drive capacity. I've made a few attempts to get this to work one way or another, and have only had any luck getting STRM files to work for videos, though I understand it is supposed to also support podcasts and radio streams.1 point

@Luke, I found the issue of the 4k playback judder and lagging, it's simply by enabling DV profile conversion within the app like Kodi, Kodi converts 7.6 profilrs to 8.1 if the hardware doesn't support it. We really need the option to control enabling and disabling SW and HW decoding as fast as possible because whenever ffmpeg is used it causes problems.1 point

I though as much previously, but each library has a playlist tab that only shows playlists that only contain items from that library. Browsing the playlist tab in a music library only shows playlists with music (which is great when dealing with music vs. music videos). So it may be a filter by library rather than a filter by type, but to the user that would be just semantics. The point would be to make the playlist library more useful. For example, I currently resort to giving all of my playlists a prefix such as (music) or (music videos) or (TV). I do that so I can identify what it refers to when picking out of a list, which as the OP suggests, can get very long. To me personally, the larger problem is filtering/navigation when trying to add tracks to a playlist. If you select a song/video and click "Add To Playlist" you are presented with a screen that contains all playlists with the primary image, and only a small amount text all sorted alphabetically. This selection screen is often frustrating and would be more useful if you could filter by content/library and present the data in list form so that all text is visible. This selection screen should always present all playlists as it does now, so that is correct. Like you say, the user may want mixed content. However more filter and navigation options for large lists would be super helpful. An alpha picker and filter/sort options seen elsewhere for instance. I hope that's helpful.1 point

I'm all about customizations... If the Emby admin allows it, Ok. If not... just don't turn the feature On. Even more cool would be to configure when it will upscale (Ex: only for SD? Min width/height? Only if server is not too loaded?)1 point
