We wanted to share a quick review of Emby that was recently done by Sergio Ambrosio, a popular tech blogger in Spain. We are excited to see that people are taking note of the product that we pour a lot of effort in to here and look forward to more reviews in the future. Thank you Sergio for taking the time to review Emby! You can read the article HERE Later this week, we will be posting another blog focused on transcoding and some best practices to make sure your server is setup properly to utilize this great feature! Hi, could you instead setup a separate staging server where you setup Emby to save things to the media folder as well as create NFO files, then move these folders to your production server which is configured to read/write NFO files?2 points

I was able to find something that works, an application called Proxifier, it can do whole applications or just specific domains, you just setup a rule for the domain and it intercepts it and passes it through the socks proxy. It works very well and was super easy to setup.2 points

The result of "auto" setting is contentious... Often not what people expect. Paul2 points

I somehow created a bad bridged connections config on my windows 10 computer that wouldn't allow the router to see the static server address OMV/Emby lives on. I've been working on it the last few hours and it is finally working. All metadata and images are now updating on Emby. PEBKAC... We can close this. Thanks!2 points

Yes, all good...working through it in that topic.2 points

Also, It would be cool if we have various m3u lists and have the option to choose/assign each m3u list for each user.. Example. In user settings we can choose which library to give them for VOD so this shouldnt be hard enough to do it for live tv too no? USER 1 - Playlist 1 - Playlist 2 - Playlist 3 USER 2 - Playlist 3 USER 3 - Playlist 1 - Playlist 3 Etc etc.... *** Delete this message from another topic I opened because I posted it by accident there1 point

Luke, please post the bugzilla bug you report to Mozilla. I'd like to track it.1 point

Yes testing this I get the Id-name from TVDB when first, but get just the ID if TMDB is first. @Luke TVDB external "remoteIds": [{ "id": "Father-Brown-641290395916579", "type": 5, "sourceName": "Facebook" }, { "id": "tt2215842", "type": 2, "sourceName": "IMDB" }, { "id": "https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03pmw4m", "type": 4, "sourceName": "Official Website" }, { "id": "fatherbrown", "type": 7, "sourceName": "Reddit" }, { "id": "61511-father-brown", "type": 12, "sourceName": "TheMovieDB.com" }, { "id": "EP01725457", "type": 3, "sourceName": "TMS (Zap2It)" } ] TMDB "id": 61511,1 point

Oh my, it was all my own fault. @Happy2Playled me to the right direction! Some weeks ago, I installed netbird (something like ZeroTier) to be able to securely access my home network from my mobile and my tablet. Therefore I had to enter my netbird ip range in the emby server network tab so that it will be recognised as a local network, which I did. I completely forgot to add my own home network ip range. Done that now and hurray: it works again! No transcodings, just direct play. Thanks to all your help! Nathan1 point

Attached below is a short video that explains how to build a TV Channel via using Emby Queries within PseudoTV. Let me know if it is helpful. Click the image to start the video. Vic QueryChannel.mp41 point

Ahhh, I understand. I still find it a bit confusing but that's just the wording. So, "Go to season" is actually a command allowing to switch between episodes of the current season. The command "Go to series" works just and does what I was looking for in "Go to season".1 point

With this being Desktop ET I think more information is needed. Emby-Client-Version=3.0.20 As to me it suggest a REMOTE connection.1 point

Hmmm there might be a way to make that an option, I'll play with it tonight and see, I think only descriptive text has ( and ) ???1 point

You can pass through subtitle edit and remove all the SDH, so there is an easy solution if it's not possible via the command line.1 point

I thought I put that in the pdf but I will double check. There is no way I know of to not have it not be descriptive. I was surprised the first time I saw it do 770 00:50:22,740 --> 00:50:24,740 [Speaking in Spanish]1 point

Hmm - you're right. This is going to need a little bit more logic to make it work. In this instance, it was a 'Theatrical' release (cinema) 3 months ago - but on Digital Release early this month - and that's what people are going to want to use - either that or the Physical release date. I don't *think* these other dates are available in Emby - or it would be in the metadata. I think I just need to apply some basic logic and say that if the 'added' date is greater than 6 months, then use the Premier Date .. otherwise don't mess with the added date. If I don't do this, then anything added with a Premier date is going to disappear off the 'Recently Added' row when it really shouldn't ?1 point

Grem's Season posters are smaller on a wider window. Perhaps switching to smaller poster icons has something to do with loosing Season 17. Also, I know there is sometimes a number of posters in a row limit from inside a .js. Often the number is 16. But that should not change with a custom CSS change. Smaller posters on wider window hitting some max-width limit? Very strange.1 point

So even though my Plugin is not public, I have now set inside it a rate limit at a lower 20 per second incase I possibly ever have the tmdb plugin installed. Waiting fo me is a non issue. So there is NO Big Deal about hitting tmdb and getting the Emby Key blocked! Why are you making it such? - is this aimed at me or in general for everybody? I don't use the TMDB plugin myself anymore - for my Adult library it is constantly fetching the wrong people - so to me it is useless, I add my own metadata and Images to my folders and use my own plugins to add it to Emby - including people. I have more or less full control I have spoke to Luke before about being able to dissable people fetching or order the plugin priority via the library settings and got his generic answer Possible for the future - thanks which by now everyone knows - translates to maybe, and then maybe possibly in 10 years or so ......if i remember or feel like it.... nah its not important .... I cannot fathom why its not implimented when everything else in the plugin has these options. I wish to disable tmdb (if i had it installed) on my adult library, you can dissable the movie fetching but not the people! Apart from the SDK UI Demo plugin I don't have any Emby generic plugins installed - NONE !, and ALL of the Emby generic internal tasks have their triggers deleted - even library scan. Literally 1 line of code in the background task that does this, the only other trigger I have enabled on my main server is for LiveTV. Thread.Sleep(50); // rate limit at 20 per second 50*20 = 1000ms1 point

Premiere Date - this is the code if (config.ModifyAddDate) { Log.Debug("Original Date Created = {0}", item.DateCreated); item.DateCreated = item.PremiereDate ?? DateTimeOffset.MinValue; Log.Debug("Premiere Date = {0}", item.PremiereDate); Log.Debug("New Date Created = {0}", item.DateCreated); }1 point

Is this Cinema, web or physical release date, you will get this question over and over again1 point

Split took 4 minutes 56 seconds. Re-merge took 7 minutes 16 seconds. Took a cursory sampling of content & so far, visually, everything looks correct. Did a cursory scan of logs for errors, & while I see some barks about .strm targets not being found (another project), there doesn't appear to be anything specific to your plug-in. I will report of some other anomaly crops up. Большое спасибо!! Edit: FWIW, I opted to use Imdb / Tmdb for merge parameters.1 point

There is a runtime download in the github release, did you put that on your system?1 point

But Auto should not be in effect on LAN, right? The logs would show if the server is treating the connection as remote.1 point

@d00zahplease try this version. It's not fully tested - I played with it, but I don't have thousands of movies in my collection. The attached picture shows a new checklist to choose relevant providers. This is a so-called beta version. and share your feedback - is it ready for a release? MovieAutoMerge.dll1 point

Same here, i update my Synology DS720+ to DSM 7.2.2-72806 and Emby works with hardware encoding as before.1 point

Just an update to say that I have emby running through a VPN. Disabling the VPN and the vod files are working. Using the same VPN server on an IPTV app and they play okay.1 point

I'm sure everyone's aware, but just chiming in to say I have just noticed the stuck-stream issue myself on my Roku (after about 2 weeks of watching where it didn't happen). Is the only way to clear it to restart the Emby service? I don't think I've seen this suggestion elsewhere, but wouldn't it help to have a 'stop stream' button like Plex has?1 point

Premiere license is tied to a server, not user - being admin or not has zero effect on that (as any user theoretically can be made an admin). Only devices limit count. Is there a limit to Emby Premiere?1 point

I've got it up now - just created a new user and everything seemed to restore itself. Now I just have to confirm I can access remotely.1 point

@ulrick65I have pm you a plugin dll for this, it worked on my machine. It'll bulk refresh your people only.1 point

But spun up a portable and added the nfo above and used options posted above and no images were gotten due to locked metadata. Deleted portable and started over and change nfo lock to false and imported with same settings as above and worked just fine. So per the test I answered my own question as it still got relevant info only if unlocked.1 point

Not sure how then as only way for the wizard to appear is with it being false. Since you say it works on other devices, what devices? Can you login with your admin user and go to Dashboard and click the three dot menu and ensure it is pointing to the same install location you are checking? Personally I would just create a NEW admin user and continue on then once complete delete that new user assuming all was good with previous install as the wizard should bring up all the already configured libraries also.1 point

Unfortunately I am not sure on this platform. @FrostByte@Carlois this possible on Synology or do you have to use the api or hack the system file?1 point

I think the fix was specifically for sports and news airings with the same title but new episode. My guess is that the fix that went out was for the following which is different from the issue on xmltv that you reported1 point

A dev or fellow Synology user will have to comment, but can't you just change them via the Network page? Network (Hosting) Settings | Emby Documentation But yes to a point this should be part of the install wizard @Luke1 point

Hi, yes this makes sense. A user should be able to change their own playlist image.1 point

Hi, the Emby LG app doesn't have an option for this, but it's certainly possible for future updates. Thanks.1 point

Thanks Guys... you were spot on - I created a user for my sister last Saturday evening on the Synology so that she can upload files on the NAS, and for some strange reason, it put her as the owner of my Emby folder that contains all the configurations, yet there is no write permissions assigned. I don't ever recall doing this in any of the prompts upon creation of the user on the NAS, so it is quite unusual, and wondering how that even occured as I have created other user accounts in the past. After seeing your quick and swift replies, I went into the "Docker" folder which is one of my main shares on the NAS, that I created to house all the folders for the apps running under Container Manager (aka Docker), selected 'Properties' on the Emby folder, and noticed my sisters user name was set as the "Owner", changing it back to my username did not help... it kept reverting back to her name for some odd reason. So, what I did was... give her full read/write access to the Emby folder, then it started almost immediately and worked perfectly... went back into properties, and change her as the owner of the folder back to me, and then took away the permission. It is working well... thank you so much to Luke, Happy2Play and Neminem - I can't believe how quickly you guys replied and assisted me with this issue... everything is back to usual!! If any of you guys have any light to shed as to why suddenly this happened with the folder changing ownership randomly after creating a new user on the Synology NAS, please share so that we can avoid this in the future... but at least I know that the solution and quick fix helped heaps!!1 point

Nevermind. As I was creating a new user, I found the Allow Sharing option under the user definition.1 point

The other services can easier control your viewing experience because they are in control of it through their central servers. We don't work like that. This is still a feature we are interested in but, given its complexity, we just haven't gotten there yet.1 point
