I do not have server remote connections enabled in network settings as my remote connections are handled by my reverse proxy. This makes sense that the allow remote access option would be hidden. Thanks for the help!2 points

This is what is filling your C drive as you are doubling everything ie images and bif files. So with media and Emby cache. example 2024-09-30 01:08:18.330 Info ChapterImagesTask: Caching file from Q:\DOCUMENTARIES\War Game (2024)\War Game (2024)-320-10.bif to C:\Users\rcsno\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\metadata\library\00\00ebc9de82832fc3a8fa2357961e04d2\thumbnailcache\War Game (2024)-320-10.bif2 points

Hey there, Not sure how much demand there would be for this but something I noticed scrolling through Netflix last night was how many of the videos I have in my library are now on Netflix / Prime...it made me think as I now access Emby through devices that have access to Netflix / Prime I should be able to remove the movies physically from the server and instead link through from my Emby library on certain devices. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but for me it makes sense to only hold the movies that I need to on physical disc taking up space and for the others to link through to the appropriate store if I have a subscription. Meaning I have one central Emby repo for all my links, whether that link is to a local share hosting the media locally or to an online repository such as Netflix / Prime. Clearly this is a little niche but is probably where we are all going at somepoint in the future... There would be a lot to work out in the logic of it I'm guessing and is probably based mainly on the client side with an "emtpy" move / tv holder being placed on the server to be ignored by clients that are told they don't have access to the streaming service. Thoughts appreciated on whether this is a stupid idea or one that makes sense? I know I can setup watchlist and in turn I can and do use the PlayOn Channel which gives me the option to view those streams, but it would be slick if they were natively in my library as is now Cheers mini1 point

Sorry, I didn't mean to be insulting at all. I just repeated your own phrase. I failed to see any logic in these sentences, that's why I just meant to confirm your own assessment of your suggestion, that' s all. Not meant to be unfriendly. I meant to say that - from past experience - a minumum of 3 years retention is needed for development purposes. For example In case of regressions User says "it has worked before". Having older logs allows to check whether that's really true or whether it's been a different case Feature Implementation Often, long-standing issues are implemented after quite some time. For that, it's useful to be able to view the original logs that are showing the case it was actually about Late Fixes Not everything gets fixes in-time. Sometimes it's months later that we get to it etc. Every one in a while it happens that I'm looking at older log files and each time I'm glad that they are still there.1 point

Please see the video. I ran the scheduled task 5 times without the infuse plugin installed and embyserver still runs fine. And I set it to run once a day, which is usually not a problem. I restarted emby server after installing the infuse plugin to run the scheduled task and embyserver crashed immediately. 2024-10-02 04-25-27.mp41 point

OK so I found this post: This was the problem for me as well. Once I selected other categories and then clicked again on the "All" category, the EPG populated again. I'm good now. Please mark as resolved.1 point

They won't return immediately. They could return later if you have it enabled on the library.1 point

Hi, @them8os235 What is likely happening is that Emby is pulling down new guide data but it's the same as the last time it was pulled. I don't recall the timing off hand, but the backend provider is likely doing batch updates only 1 or 2 times a day so there is no new content for Emby to update. Carlo1 point

HI, I would try removing these plugins: Auto Movie Version Collections 1.0.0.0 Then restart the server and see how things compare. Thanks.1 point

I guess if you want to get technical bif files are used for display also as your Chapter image do come from that bif file if you write them. So that can be just as important as a normal jpg.1 point

Bif are cached also for all those network media user that want the best of both worlds. So if you save with media it will save with cache also.1 point

Just for your information, @Lordsnooty, 4.8.10.0 is out (with a small fix). Just remember to shut Emby down before updating it. Cheers!1 point

Hi, where did you do the rescan from? If you do Scan Library Files from the individual Album, it may not update correctly. If you do Scan Library Files from the parent folder, via the Folder menu tab, it should update correctly. If you do Scan Library files of the whole library, it should update correctly. (Note: this is what I have found for Windows version, I'm not sure if it is the same for Synology version???) Did you change both Album Artist and Artist to all be the same entity of "Alan Parsons Project, The" or only the Artist field/tag on CD1? If you only changed the Artist, then something else to consider: If you have a mixture of "Alan Parsons Project, The" for Artist and "The Alan Parsons Project" for Album Artist, then you may still have problems with the "Appears On" section. The "Artists" menu tab is actually a combination of Artists and Album Artists, so both entities will still be shown. And, one more thing, if you make the name "The Alan Parsons Project", then Emby should automatically make the Sort Title "Alan Parsons Project". Good luck with getting it all properly organised!1 point

Hi, actually it was the user-setting.... the emby user did not have the rights to access the library... You were right, all along...1 point

I just noticed that the plugin is playing the first few days of the tv guide over and over again. This is caused by a simple oversight on my part. I will try to fix it tomorrow. After the big hurricane there are a lot of limbs to be cleaned up in the yard. This may hamper my computer time. Even so, I will get this bug fixed ASAP. This fix will also fix the scheduled task for TV Guide refresh. For those following the thread between @mickle026and myself, the plugin code now includes a Web Route between the JS and C# code. I had the same issue, and was racking my brain trying to figure out the problem. None of the responses above seemed to apply to me. Well... It turns out that I'd left an unused SD card in a USB port, which weirdly reconfigured the names of my drives. Thus, the hard drive containing my movies was temporarily mislabeled. Once I removed the SD, everything went back to normal. Hope this helps someone with a similar issue.1 point

Hi, please attach the emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem thanks.1 point

OK I've pushed an update to the tvdb plugin. Let's see if that helps with your scan times. Thanks.1 point

Hi, yes I've seen this before (in firefox only). Haven't chased it down yet. Thanks.1 point

Correct, hence the original question, as if multi-versioned you would have needed to Split items before re-Identifying incorrectly identified one. You'd need to Lock those fields/items (notice the lock icon in Edit Metadata dialog for each field and/or Lock this item toggle at the bottom of same dialog) to preserve custom edits.1 point

I found solution I tested on another iPhone which never had the Emby application installed. and it works. So I reset my iPhone, because uninstalling/installing emby didn't change anything. what a waste of time you can close my topic1 point

Yup, I figured @Sammy. And not just for emby, it seems to apply in general since there seems to be no alternative to getchannels when it comes to hooking into US cable TV providers. We will see how this develops. We have been slowly weaned off live TV over the past couple of years, and in another two years, I may be ready to cut the cable cord as well. I am already well aware that eh amount of money I spend on live TV vs the benefit and quality I am getting is not exactly the best value. I just need to overcome the last bit of inertia.1 point

Hi @nagetech The Introskip Plugin is no longer supported, and hasn't been for a couple of years as it's base functionality was replaced in the Core. That being said - The Error above is a database related error where the Chapter element simply cannot reference an object that should be there. The way to fix is to likely remove 2 Stupid Dogs from Emby, do a database vacuum, restart Emby and then re-add that show back. It will then be given new id's and thus these will be seen as new items for the Plugin to analyse etc. I would suggest you need to start thinking about an exit strategy for the Introskip Plugin though - however, in doing so - you will unfortunately lose many functions - Editing Credit/Outro detection/skipping Chapter Insertion (correctly reformatted) Option to skip shows Option to ignore the first detected episode intro on a new Show/per Season (*) Stats Others I've probably forgotten about .. (*) Thanks to @quorn23for the reminder ..1 point

Have you submitted crash feedback ? Send your Apple ID in forum Private Message and the devs can check for any crash reports Alternatively, on the iOS device, go to Settings / Privacy & Security / Analytics & Improvements / Analytics Data and see if you can find ips files that match the times of your app crashes, Copy these out and zip and make available. Emby app crashes would have the "Emby" in the filename - unless it is force kill by iOS eg memory/cpu use, in which case it would be a JetsamEvent ... filename1 point

Burning-in graphical subs is very CPU-intensive process, even for modern-day CPUs. Your server machine is underpowered for such task/cannot keep up. For real time transcoding, as absolute minimum speed should be >1.0x (or roughly 10 times your current server performance). Try playing that item without subtitles selected or obtain external text-based subs.1 point

For Items to merge automatically, files must be named starting with exactly as the folder they reside in, not partially or approximately: Notice how you have ProviderIds in the folder names that are mising in media file names. Rename either the folder or the files, scan media library.1 point

While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations1 point

I still wonder why i see all kinds of "but and excuses" statements instead of giving users the ABILITY to have MFA. All i see is "but it does not make your server more secure, etc." Just give users and Admins the OPTION to use MFA, as long as Emby is not a managed service and is doing all the maintenance for the linux or windows servers etc. people are using, this is nothing you have to bother about. When someone has a microsoft Entra Tenant, microsoft is not responsible for any misconfigurations if you have the wrong sharing options or not using conditional access etc. Why are you trying to make people feel like you do a full managed service and you need to ensure they have secure environment? You give people a program to host their own media server, nothing more, you are not managing my security or something else. If people forget their password or just use 12345 as a password, this is nothing you have to bother. Just give us the option out of the box, to enable MFA for those who wants it. No needs to discuss the whole 7 OSI Layers and security. Thanks1 point
