  1. Possible? Yes. Probable? No. I strongly doubt it will ever happen but I've learned that nothing is ultimately impossible in the internet world. The licensing complications, even if Netflix or Hulu or Paramount did not insist on their own interface, would turn Emby into just another expensive streamer. I would be strongly against Emby even making the attempt. The very idea of placing all my watchable content under one umbrella is abhorrent to me. It is not that much trouble to switch apps when needed. It is a matter of less than 8-10 keypresses to get from inside one to inside another and, mostly for me, it is 4 keypresses or less. I do not see the need and even more I do not understand the desirability.

  2. You have to remove the old version first. Unfortunately, the usb versions won't upgrade. Samsung only allows one usb app to be loaded at a time and when it sees you have one already it doesn't even try to install from your disk. Make sure you delete the previous version from the app settings also. Removing Emby on the Home just removes the shortcut, not the app. Then plug in your usb.

  3. The direct link to the file is in the instructions, but on the page you're at if you click on the filename where your arrow is then on the next page you have to click on the downward arrow icon (ballon image will say "Download raw file").

  4. Front.ext is not supported as Primary image type: Music Images You'll have to rename those images to one of the supported naming conventions but you don't have to do it manually, it can easily be done on OS level via some bulk renaming utility of your preference (like this one).

  5. I'd really like to have 2 Factor Authentication added to the login screen. It's just this (optional) extra layer of security to help secure the server (which, especially if people use camera uploads) contains pretty private data. There are for every type of programming language quite a few libraries available, so implementation on a server shouldn't be too hard to realise

  6. I was in the same boat, most of my closer station do show in the yellow regime. However, I found out that smaller omnidirectional antennas were insufficient. For example, I tried one similar to the Mohu Lead. Despite the great ratings on Amazon, my experience differed, likely because of location. I ended up purchasing this antenna and mounted it in the attic to give it a little extra height (I understand that this may not be an option for you). This solution large fixed my issues; most stations in the 50 mi radius work great, I only have some issue in the VHF range on occasion, e.g., when weather is bad. If you get good signal strength and the picture still drops out, you may also consider an LTE filter, especially if you are near a cell tower. This helped others but I did not need it.

  8. Hi, we’ll be getting a 4.8.10 update out to resolve this. Thanks for reporting.

  9. Correct and if there are multiple images the image naming order of precedence will apply per the KB.

  10. That shouldn't "damage the connection" with your personal media server.

  11. yes I refreshed box sets several times then I wrote my first post yesterday and no, not one single multi version movie on my side... I'm not sure since when I have that issue. yesterday after auto update and forced reset the plug in I saw it by accident. it's not so terrible or urgent. I just thought it's my mistake (as usual) and I have to do something.. if refreshing box set is the only relevant task you might have a little code bug in the updated version?

  13. You need to click on every movie in the Collection and see if any is assigned to more than one collection. It will be under "Included in"

  15. In pinned post for the usb instructions just remove the filename from the link and it will show the latest build was from 4 days ago. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/tree/master/tizen You can also click on the history button on the right side and it will give you the exact date for every build.

  16. Oh, so there's a 1.8.9 version? Where can I get the link for it and for the future, where I can see latest versions?
    1 point
  17. You're getting the message because 1.8.8 is a month old now and thus about to expire (I'm surprised it hasn't already). Anyhow, check the GitHub link in the instructions. New version is 1.8.9, but the release notes just haven't been updated yet. 1.8.9 does fix a cosmetic/navigation problem with some models, other than that, I'm not sure.

  18. For your hard drives, I would look at either goharddrive or serverpartdeals. Both have their own stores, amazon stores and eBay stores (goharddrive serverpartdeals). They sell refurbished enterprise hard drives with 3-5 year warranties, and the prices can be different on each of the stores. I picked up some 12TB drives from goharddrive on eBay last month for $75 each, and they have 5 year warranties through goharddrive. If you are in doubt you can check /r/datahoarder on reddit in regards to how legit these 2 are.

  19. In fairness that actor overview is a thing because that competitor has the ability for you to watch content not on your server. You should be really using jellyseer/overseer anyways for this task.

  20. No, that's not a problem. The video player component in current Emby Theater is MPV and the video player in the new Emby clients is MPV as well. That applies to both, Windows and Linux, and MPV supports a wide range of ways for video output on each platform. (.net and DirectX are two completely separate and different things, btw). The difference is the way of integration. Previously, MPV was used as a browser plugin (like Flash and others in earlier days), but this way is no longer supported (see my post above https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/42868-emby-theater-for-linux/&do=findComment&comment=1387613) The new method of integration is much superior to the earlier one, but the behavior of Linux window managers makes it difficult to get it behave nicely everywhere (without testing). If you apply for the testing, you'll get more details.

  25. If you're referring to remembering subtitles selection per season:

  26. I'm suffering from this bug as well on an Apple TV 4, combined with serious stuttering when squares are displayed. Looks like flex player had the same issue, see this thread: https://forums.plex.tv/t/chinese-subtitle-display-problems-in-the-new-version-of-ipados-18-ios-18/887926/13 They do seem to have fixed it in the current beta release of their client though. The workaround of changing the subtitle font in the Apple TV settings as described in that thread did not fix the issue with Emby for me unfortunately.

  27. Since you cannot play an episode you do not have you cannot mark it as played. It makes perfect sense to me. But I can see how showing an episode that is unplayable is confusing. I wish the reporting of missing episodes was completely outside the interface that users usually see. Only the admin of a library needs to know an episode is missing so Emby should restrict the "Show missing episodes" functionality to only admin users and only from the main server dashboard. Nobody else has any need to know. Also why does anyone need, except the admin, to even know about missing episodes? They do not display when playing the series so they do not need to be marked as played.

  28. Technically you can import that, but I think you’ll end up with lots of individual entries rather than the single combined movie you were hoping for. You’ll have to use our dedicated naming conventions for that: Movie Naming having said that, in order to get the best experience possible I would suggest joining the files.

  29. I can't answer your question directly, but I can say that support for such a structure is dying. You'd be far better off extracting the video to MKV files using MakeMKV. Paul

  30. OK, now that I've had coffee and am not logged in as my mom, I renamed my files to include the tmdbid tag so that the prefix before the dash is EXACTLY the same as the folder name. They're still in the same directory, but extras now show up properly even with the two files combined. Thanks!

  31. What Latest Rows already do and have the sort option per library, use Release date instead of date added value. Sort of should be a "Date added behavior for new content" option.

  32. Hi, we are looking into this. Thanks.

  33. Yes. I have updated my nfo files with the lockedfields attribute and did a rescan of my library, everything looks good, also if I use the "Replace all metadata" option on an individual movie the custom names remain. I'll have another look after the 30 day automated library scan, but I'm confident adding lockedfields to the nfo resolves my issue.

  37. We would like to make a quick announcement that Emby Server 4.8.9 has been released. This is an incremental update over 4.8.8 that had various improvements and fixes. For those that are curious on how to find the release notes, it is as simple as clicking on the server version on your Emby dashboard. This will bring you to the the release notes and you can scroll through the various versions to see the continual work by the Emby team on each subsequent release. View the full article

  38. Finally found the issue, it was within the TLS-SSL Profile Level of DSM. The LG Smart TV App appearently does not stand up to the 'Modern compatibility' setting and will quit with a 'no compatible stream found' message, however if I switch the Emby Domain to 'intermediate Compability' it will just play fine for my user. A detailed explanation of the setting can be found here: https://mariushosting.com/synology-which-tls-ssl-profile-should-i-choose/ @Lukewould you be so kind and delete all of my personal logs in this thread, thanks!

  39. So I've been using Emby for a few weeks and want to revisit this with my thoughts. We use our media server like our own personal Netflix complete with binge watching, so credit markers are important to us, and dealing with credit markers in Emby genuinely sucks. To call them frustrating to work with doesn't even begin to do it justice. I get it that automatically detecting credits can be resource intensive for the host machine and doesn't have a 100% success rate for accurate detection regardless of method used, but this is one area where I would encourage the devs to consider that perfect is definitely the enemy of the good. When you have a large existing library it is absolutely painful to manually add these markers for each and every video. This is compounded by the fact that you have to do this for every video added to the server going forward as well, and it makes upkeep an enormous task. I would MUCH rather go back and manually edit videos that didn't automatically get it right the first time. The whole reason I started experimenting with EMBY in the first place is my dissatisfaction with the direction of PLEX, but it is honestly hard to get away from their software because of this. To be fair PLEX's system isn't perfect either, but once again in this instance perfect is the enemy of the good. Even with being imperfect their system is so much more advanced as to be almost laughable. Given that the intro/credit detection plugin is no longer available I implore the devs to reconsider their stance on this. I understand that the Emby team is relatively small and you have to be smart about where you allocate your resources but people have been asking for this for more than two years now across multiple threads.

Can you try converting AAC 7.1 to AC3 5.1 or make an extra audio stream with AC3 5.1. AC3 5.1 is better accepted by players.
