Hi Luke, I have good news about HEVC direct play in Firefox. The latest nightly 132.0a1 (2024-09-27) is capable to direct play HEVC in Emby. Without having to change the "media.wmf.media-engine.enabled" to 1 (playback enabled for media engine and MFT). They fixed all issues in the default value which uses only the media engine and there is no reason to enable MFT anymore. So... people will be able to enjoy Emby in Firefox without having to transcode when version 132 stable will be released. And it will work without having to change any setting. Finally:)

We would like to make a quick announcement that Emby Server 4.8.9 has been released. This is an incremental update over 4.8.8 that had various improvements and fixes. Luke, I completely understand but unfortunately when I did a Restore using the plugin, it completely corrupted my library files and made the new server completely unstable. So I had no no other choice doing a partial restore using the files! So far I have edited the users.db with the old passwords, and also used the old authentication.db and they are working on the new server!!!

Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Also, It would be cool if we have various m3u lists and have the option to choose/assign each m3u list for each user.. Example. In user settings we can choose which library to give them for VOD so this shouldnt be hard enough to do it for live tv too no? Hi Emby Team Since updated to the last version, when you're playing anything and you quit playing (by pressing back button on apple remote as done always), the audio of the video keeps playing until you try to play another thing (or the same thing again) or you kill the emby app from running on Apple TV. Curiously if you try to play the same video the interface loop back to the previous screen. The video below shows this issue: IMG_1897.mp4 Can u please fix it asap ¿?

Correct. And I am also the admin. And my exact use case is to promote shows to the continue watching section. A script deletes played media after a few days but once it's removed emby thinks it was never there and removes it from continue watching. Marking the previous, unavailable episode as watched in the past has worked.

Technically you can import that, but I think you’ll end up with lots of individual entries rather than the single combined movie you were hoping for. You’ll have to use our dedicated naming conventions for that: Movie Naming having said that, in order to get the best experience possible I would suggest joining the files.

The "ADD" event would be ideal which would be after it is synced because once Emby is updated with new custom Genres it will just sync again as an UPDATE from your addon I believe. 28220 is the Kodi idFile and 2797 is the idMovie in the movie_view table. That would get me what I need with a custom NotifyAll notification of that data. ADD/UPDATE/DELETE seem to be the ideal places for a NotifyAll.

I'm happy to help but I don't know anything about a compositor. I could install EMBY theatre on windows, ubuntu, QTS, iPhone, ipad & a Sony smart TV. Incidentally I've installed the snap version (3.0.21) of Emby theater on unbutu 24.041 and it works OK but I suspect that the replay volume if reduced. This might be an issue with putting 5.1 sound through a stereo amp. I need to check more.

Just to ping this conversation again, but I would love to have the feature back where I can run a report on my library and see in an Excel sheet format any episodes I may have forgotten about. I don't watch everything I have because it's not all for me so I don't pay complete attention to everything, and when a library gets fairly large it becomes easy to miss episodes. I don't want to spend a lot of time checking each series one by one when it could be done using a top level report feature. So please, if possible, bring this feature back. It was very useful to some of us.

I think we may be having the same issue, that Emby isn't reading data from the nfo files for audiobooks. Would you mind testing something? Start with a fresh version of one of your audiobooks (no nfo file). Import it into your library, then use the Emby metadata editor to change something, like the title or description. Verify that it does indeed write that information to a new nfo file it creates for that book. Now, move that book folder (book & nfo file) out of the library, scan so it disappears, then move the folder (book & nfo file) back and scan again. The exact same data is still in the nfo file, but Emby doesn't read it when importing the book. It's feels like it's writing the data to the nfo, but never reads it back or somehow prioritizes the scrapers over the nfo. I found your thread before starting my own, and it's likely we have the same issue, so I figured I'd join yours if this behavior is the same for you.

With all due respect and genuine admiration for Emby, which I pay for premier, I don't think your approach or mindset here makes sense. There are myriad reasons for why audio and video are not synced for many Emby users. The reasons don't matter, because we aren't going to identify or solve them all, and Emby devs have waaaay better ways to spend your time than helping individual users with their device-specific issues. The functionality to delay audio or delay video (which is what we're actually talking about in many of these situations) is straightforward. It is available in many other streaming/player systems. It can be used for all kinds of different reasons. We just want this basic functionality in Emby.

Hi. Did you notice all of the permission denied errors in your log? It looks like the server is being denied write access.

Do you have a server of your own. That is do you own the media or are you using somebody's else's. If you have your own server then that is where you fix the problem but, if you don't, you need to contact whoever you are getting the content from as the server is theirs. Emby does not provide either content or streaming service. It just provides the means to stream your own content.

@Lukefor your information, the new version 4.8.9.0 does not fix the problem...

I bought a lifetime license a long time ago but, until recently, I have not really needed it. I only need it now for live TV as that is a premier feature. The actual reason I bought the license was to support Emby and a little bit so I would not have to pay more if I decided I needed it later. Of all the media managers Emby, for me, is by far the best. It is not perfect but it is better, much better, than anything else. If I did not have a lifetime license at this time I would, probably, buy one as Emby makes my media consumption easier than anything else I have looked at or heard about. Emby is, for me, the best software investment I have ever made.

Internally there is a minimum similarity score that gets calculated. I don’t anticipate this being an issue.

When signing in, you must ensure you select 'yes' when prompted if you'd like to use a pin. If you select no, you can freely switch to that account until you manually select 'sign out'.

Request: Add a Trailer button to Seasons Most series have a new trailer every season. Multiple trailers under series will just play a random trailer from all seasons For instance GoT has 1 or more new trailers per season. I would like to place them under the season folder and be able to play the correct trailer(s) for that season The current format works for movies, but isn't ideal for series Trailers could either be in Season folder or a subfolder under each season called "Trailers" TV Shows \Game of Thrones\Season 1\Trailers \Game of Thrones\Season 2\Trailers etc

Because my subtitles don't have language labels that Emby can recognize, and because there are so many subtitles, I can't change them in order. Even if the language label is not properly tagged/missing, it is better than selecting none by default.

Yes, but the whole conversation continues very broadly on this subject and with a variety of intentions and use cases, that's why it appreared to be a good way to reach out to all those who have been struggling with audio delay for one or the other reason. You also need to consider that a certain share of those who are asking for an adjustment feature would prefer a solution where they don't need to adjust anything at all. They just think that would be the only way.
