I know this is not a question, I just wanted to say how much I freaking love Emby. We have been looking for a solution to our home media for years. We have young kids, we don't get out much, we watch a lot of series and tv and Emby has just made the whole experience so much better. Just wanted to say good job Emby people and thanks. I wish I had known about it years ago.8 points

Excellent thanks for the config file .. saved me a bunch of work. Not promising, but I may make this or something like it into an emby plugin as mdblist is getting popular now.. Giving props to @Amything of course !3 points

Yes. Run it as a scheduled task on my Windows machine once a day. Used to have 2 or 3 trakt lists that aren't available at mdblist but that doesn't bother me since mdblist has a bazillion other nice lists. Let's not do that. It's actually a really good way of surfacing content you may have otherwise forgotten - we're just asking for a way to either "Go To Item" or somehow play it directly from there.3 points

Erm, am hoping it'll be improved not killed off. It only needs a Play button.3 points

I know there's other threads about this, but are we ever going to get an EHS thats actually clickable / actionable ?2 points

thats a pretty weak argument for, i can't be bothered to do it properly. you could make the same argument about any artwork or metadata in the server. just strip everything back to a title and play button how about doing it properly? make it functional and actually have it for all media types so you don't just end up with a stupid looking gap at the top of the screen2 points

Ensure the contents of <emby data directory>/data/device.txt is not identical between the two servers. (this usually happens when copying one server to create a second one). If they are identical, delete one of them (doesn't matter which), and restart the corresponding server.2 points

Simple, I would like to create a playlist for different TV Series that I would like to watch. However, when I add a TV Series, Emby breaks the entire series down and I just get a list of all of the individual episodes. For a short TV series of 10 or 20 episodes that's not a problem but if I wanted to add Seinfeld or something with 8-10 seasons of 25 episodes then the list gets awfully long. It seems like it should be something that is simple and automatic so maybe I am just being dense here but if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be awesome. Thanks1 point

Hi, the latest Blog post for LG Emby TV App was for "Emby for LG 1.0.37" @Luke you always write "Stay tuned to the blog for the release announcement." on the "Status on official LG app" Topic But for the last 4 LG Versions no Blog Post has been released. I'd really like to get more infos on changes and new features of the Emby LG App Thanks1 point

So I also have something positive to report this time. A few days ago I flashed two of my Shields back to 8.2.3. And what can I say? The thing runs like clockwork! Thanks to the tip from @rbjtech with the NetBIOs name, I managed to get a real directplay connection. Thanks to the path transfer, there's no more jerking, slightly longer loading time at the beginning, but that's bearable. Damn good picture & sound - and above all smooth playback But I find it weak that the Emby team has no interest in implementing direct path passing for Experience 9.x.x. Plex & Kodi shows us that it is possible. Why not? It's unlikely that Nvidia will grant the Shield Android 12+. No real updates for about 2 years. There has been no new model since 2019, although a new device has been brought onto the market every two years. Plex can even do this without much integration of the server as a network drive in the Shield itself. So why not? It is no longer relevant whether you have a more powerful server - old hardware is sufficient. In Germany this is called sustainability. I still have one point of criticism regarding Android TV 2.x.xx. DTS:X with the DTS-HD HRA profile remains silent. I have to deactivate the passthrough for DTS-HD or switch to Kodi or an external player. I doubt that this is due to Android 9. But overall I can get over it because I only have 4 films with this soundtrack.1 point

As said: For all intents and purposes, turn it Off and it is removed, can't quite grasp why it is affecting you so otherwise.1 point

I must admit, sometimes I feel like watching something, anything, so I just click backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards between Movies, TV, Documentaries and Collections just to see if it comes up with anything interesting, and when (if) I do find something, well, hence the original request (I know, I'm turning into a broken record...).1 point

We all like different things, but I find this feature neither confusing nor cluttering. It is, to me, a useful method of surfacing items that might otherwise not be noticed, which you might then like to play, but the actual playing part is a bit of a rigmarole at the moment, hence the Play (or maybe Details) button request. Surely one of the aims in anything is ease of use, in this case reduced button presses. Also, far as I remember, the EHS is optional anyway. Thanks for reminding me about the Random ordering btw1 point

I don't know what Conversions is, but it's empty. My skin is Estuary Mod v2 from Kodinerds repo, but the playback problem also occurred with default Estuary. Went back to 10.0.47 and every movie plays just fine.1 point

I never said how I was handling this on this thread but here is my preferred method around Emby's non-native support for visualizations on music playback... I never got this to work on Samsung app, or Roku app because from what I understand, they can not do what's called concurrent sessions. For this reason and this reason alone, I converted all of my Emby clients to Android or Android TV clients. Android TV allows multiple apps to run simultaneously so you can start up Emby app and get your music playing then load "home" out to the main menu and get ProjectM running in another session and have both Emby and ProjectM running at the same time. The downside is that you don't get any song information from music playing in Emby into ProjectM so even if you set ProjectM to always show song information, nothing happens except the nice pretty light-show on the screen. But at least you get music and a pretty picture. Same goes for external slideshows. Emby does have internal slideshow picture presentation but with Android devices you can do the same thing with an external slideshow app and the presentation can be made nicer. Again you don't get song title/artist information but they do play simultaneous. I've asked for both native visualization and background image slide-show for music artist in Emby ever since converting over from Windows Media Center and it hasn't shown up correctly yet (definitely greater than 5 or 6 years). They did have background artist slideshow working right up to version 2.0.33g of Android TV app but then starting with 2.0.48g they screwed it up and it hasn't been right since. Now they have this big huge display of the album cover art taking up the whole screen and totally trashing ones full-screen view of background/backdrop images in slideshow. I've asked several times for a toggle switch so that a user can go between the view that they currently get with the full size album art taking up the screen and one where it is reduced in size and moved to the corner of the screen so the backdrop can have most of the screen area, but the pleas have been ignored (for 4 or 5 years now), so it doesn't look like there will be any change in behavior. It looks like what we have is what we're gonna get. So I'm moving on and making do with whatever else I can get to work. Anyway, you can try my remedy above and see if it partially fits the bill. Not perfect but better than nothing. Also again the caveat is, I only know it to work for sure on Android and Android TV devices. Last known, does not work with Samsung or Roku (the other two that I had tried). I've never had Apple TV devices so don't know the behavior. I would assume FireTV works just like Android/Google TV but can't verify that either. Good luck and happy Embying1 point

Yep. Embys view is the playlist is fit for purpose for TV series but a lot of views here that it is not. People are using the playlist as a watchlist simply because there is nothing better in the software. Thus they clearly don't want all the episodes listed, just the 'show' as a reminder to start watching it. Yes adding ep1 (of whatever season) works but its a fudge as most people will rightly think that if they add a show to a playlist, it will add the show, not potentially 100's of episodes...1 point

For reference, while we debate about reviews source viability and how professional the reviews are, Plex is expanding on their feature set (in addition to already available professional critic reviews - aside of how relevant those are). Something should certainly be better than nothing that we currently have?1 point

Hi, i tried for several days LCRGET, I noticed that there are not all lyrics finding, but what really nice is, is that the lyrics are scrolling down with the music, that was not with other lyrics finders, FOO / mediahuman. are there other lyrics finders like LCRGET1 point

any chance adding an option to select the libraries this plugin scans for? I'd just need it for my audio book libraries. BR1 point

More people would use this if it were simpler. The average consumer doesn't mind setting up the network between two computers. I'm no longer up to date with all the network technology (I initially learned with 10 Mbit LAN), but I can manage it. @rbjtech without your important note about the Netbios name, I would still be at the beginning by now. All of this is far too complicated for normal users and laypeople. It should be enough if the network path is stored in the library. It also has to work without me having to enter the server in the shield itself. Plex shows you how to do it. I do have to enter the server again in Kodi using the Emby addon, but anyone who deals with Kodi knows this too. Again - people use this less because it is quite complicated to implement it this way. And even some experienced users have to struggle with it. That's the only reason. Anyone who uses Emby on their own network would prefer direct file playback with a compatible player! @rbjtech Kodi is a super good player (except for Omega), it runs absolutely smoothly, but adjusting all the widgets so that you can see the new videos straight away, like with Emby/Plex, is now too much effort for me. If I had to make it family-friendly with certain age groups, I would freak out.1 point

Still waiting for the remuxing of unsupported audio to be added to the app, the same as how the ATV does it. Been waiting over 2 years.1 point

So, you want to be helped, but you don't want to give any details of what's wrong, and you don't want to understand anything either - is that a fair summary? This is an attitude which in English we refer to as "entitled", and yes, I'm afraid that's not a compliment. Paul1 point

I'll leave Eric @ebrto give the official reason but on the new version SE9 (Android 11) permission is also required from the App to allow access to the os shares. Emby didn't want this as something on the App 'requirements' in the store when the vast majority of users would never use it. Also remember the replacement Android App has no such direct play option at all. All in all, the market for high end playback has diminished with emby and the only client that seems to 'care' about codecs, stats for nerds, passthrough etc is AndroidTv and that is going - mind you, they said that 4 years ago .. and still its the go to Android and FireTv app ... frustrating as I don't want to use Kodi, its just not family friendly and the JF Android App is very weak but at least its open source.1 point

I will await any responses from my VPN provider and update this if they have a solution. I was suggesting here a few years ago that emby users might consider Private Internet Access (PIA) as a VPN service as they provided a reliable tunneling option. That may or may not be a viable option currently. Thanks for your time!1 point

Hi, nothing has changed, it's that the apps are built to automatically switch between LAN and WAN addresses. What this means is that regardless of whatever address you enter to initially get connected, it will ultimately end up switching to the addresses displayed on your server dashboard.1 point

Yes cloning a server will create issues with both servers having the same serverid listed in the device.txt. One reason the Back and Restore plugin asks if you want to restore serverid.1 point

I will check in Edge and Chrome tomorrow and let you know. I have it playing in the background at work. One thing I did notice on this particular computer is the arrows on the edges Continue Watching and Latest Movies and TV that let you scroll left and right through the list aren't there, both in Chrome and FF. However they are there on other computers.1 point

No, it looks like something related to the encoding of the characters in the embedded tags. This prevented the server from being able to locate the existing artist and as a result it kept on adding new ones. So that needs to be looked at.1 point
-
No. A lot of times I think to myself "Gee, that's a series I would like to watch" but I am currently in the middle of watching something else for a few weeks and so it would be nice to create a list of a handful to TV Series that I would consider to be "Up Next". I can add the series but by the time I had 4 or 5, I have hundreds of episodes to scroll through. It would just be nice to see each individual series like you get in the parent menu for TV.1 point

If I have a collection that's sorted by title, it makes sense to still have the alpha picker on the side as when browsing a library.1 point
-
For simplicity, assume a universal request for an alpha picker in every multi-title content view (album, artist, show, movie), for ease of browsing large collections.1 point

@niallobr Did you ever get a solution for this? I'm finding a lot of missing images. Some mismatches, but mostly just images that don't appear when viewing a show or movie. If I click the person, then go back to the detail page and refresh, the image will appear. I don't see why I have to click 100's of people just to get their images to show though.1 point

I do NOT think it should be playable. From what I have read it should be removed as it serves no purpose. If people want "reminding" of what they have available the there are many many many ways to accomplish that. Emby should just remove that display. Under no circumstances should it be made playable.0 points
-
Maybe that should be removed. The only purpose for that was to do something more interesting than having nothing show.0 points
