  1. Using "mkvmerge -J" I can see metadata tags I've written using https://mkvtoolnix.download/ Amongst them are "Commentary", "Visually Impaired", "Hearing Impaired", "Original Language". The valid values for them are missing/None and True or False. If present, one could filter by original language, or by available language (i.e. dubs). I would also like to set a list of languages I am able to understand (German native speaker, English as second language). Current behavior is; I've set my account to use English as preferred audio language; it plays English (if it exists). I would rather any movie which is originally German but also has an English dub would play in German, not the English dub. Also, if there is a regular and a commentary track it could choose the regular track over a commentary track if it were placed first in the file. I could then also filter my library by original language, since the video track can also have the same tags, even if there is no corresponding audio track present with the same language.

  3. 'Out the box' embys view is their softwares gateway to your home network can be used over http and have a password of any complexity - its only recently that you had to have any password at all on your admin account - but that password can still be 'a' and it will be allowed. 2/mfa is at this stage a LONG way off imo but I don't personally consider it essential either if you simply follow best practice on using a decent length unique password over https and restrict admin to lan only. Allowing emby admin to the net is like enabling your router admin to the net, you simply do nkt do that, even with mfa. Totally agree that mfa is a safety net for breeched passwords but for a media server admin account that should not be open to the net anyway, for me personally its not required - there are a LOT more basic security practices they need to implement or interface with before this.

  4. Tbh i'm holding out a little hope that core version 4.9 playlists, hopefully with front page pinning, may have some of this in it - or a flexible api that allows the import of such lists. But as history and experience has shown us, we may get just the bare essentials, leaving us disappointed on something that has taken 8 years to get implemented ... who knows, i'm hoping I am wrong..

  6. Bump. Any progress on this? As posted elsewhere (sorry - searched but didn't find this six-month old thread): Has there been any further thought from Emby devs about making it possible to play/queue an individual disc from a multi-disc music album? Again, the UI suggestion would be to have the "Disc (n)" header be right/long-clickable, just like any other album, with the standard right-click/long-click menu popping-up. (This would require adding "Disc 1" to the first disc of multi-disc albums.) But that's just one UI idea. The main point remains that Emby currently has no easy, intuitive way to play or otherwise act on on a single disc from multi-disc albums, which would be very helpful functionality.

  9. You just have to target elements differently or add :not element that pertain to that mode. div.view-item-item .padded-top-page:not(.animatedView.darkContentContainer-tv .padded-top-page) {position: relative; top: 50%;}

  10. Most other streaming apps I use that have an alphabet menu allow you to click the up button so you can get down to Z quickly, rather than having to press the down button to go through the entire alphabet. I think this feature should be added to Emby.

  11. I think Blam wants to be on letter A, click Up arrow, and go to Z. This shortcut sometimes works in other software. The problem is you have to find the first link at the top of the list. It is not always A. It could be # or letter B if there are no A's. Also Z may not be the last letter. There are foreign letters that come after Z for some media names and it could be Y if there is no Z in the media list. So, making code that works is not as simple as linking Up arrow on A, to go to Z.

  13. If I go to my list of media, on the left, there is a vertical alphabet. When I click to the left, I can choose a letter from the alphabet that will take me to my media starting with that letter. I'm not sure how else to provide an example.

  14. i use tdarr as part of the workflow for adding new media to emby, so for me emby doesnt "see" the file until tdarr has prepared it. i don't use Emby RTM as i don't like what it does, i have a scheduled library scan run as the final step in the workflow

  16. Your series is being identified as Pokémon Mystety Dungeon, TVDBId 383905: As @JayceDKcorrectly assumed, it's due to naming convention used/your series folder not having year in folder name: and TVDB (both API call and Search) returning Mystery Dungeon as first hit. Rename series folder to either: Pokémon (1997) or Pokémon (1997) [tvdbid=76703] and any subsequent additions/new episodes added should be identified correctly with no need for manual intervention.

  17. ok that helped me somewhat. im working with a LG remote control on a Ugoos media player. The OK button on the remote does not translate to the C button on my keyboard. Pressing C on my Keyboard does bring up the desired menu tho. Just have to figure out how to map it to my remote. thanks for ur help. EDIT: I got it working with the Keymap Editor Addon. Thread can be closed. Thanks again!

  18. Yeah when I do that it works, but the issue with that is I have to check it each time the task runs because it automatically disables after a single use. I have it using v70 right now and it seems to be working on noble fine. Thanks

  19. you should only have admin access to the local lan. use a vpn back to your home router if you really need to manage the server when away from home. create a secondary non admin to use when away.

  20. As an admin i dont want to have to explain and setup up 2fa for my users. its going to be a headache. now i im ok with the option to use it for sure!!. i dont allow my admin account access to the web so i dont see this as a OMG we need this now thing. if you are exposing your admin account to the web you are doing it wrong. if a regular user of yours get hacked whats going to happen? nothing they have no access to change anything.

  21. So I finally got this all sorted. Moved to a jailmaker setup with docker... Please find attached a debug embyserver and ffmpeg-remux log file. The movie started (at a resume point) was silent for a few seconds, then the audo kicked in. After another few seconds, the whole playback hung and CPU for the emby instance stayed high. 23. Luke, Yes, that is the issue. Adding from the series screen adds all the episodes. Does anyone really want to do that? That was the question. It makes a mess, especially if there are 100 episodes. I believe that just adding episode 1 when the user adds from the series screen is more user friendly. I know that picking a single episode works. That is not in question.

  25. With all due respect, the Dev team/forum need to stop saying "soon" on any developments on Emby going forward. Just say we don't have a time table on that yet or we haven't decided on release date. "Soon" means nothing for emby. That could be a year or 5 from now. Means nothing anymore.

  26. We just want a reasonable answer when we ask WHEN it will be ready. You just repeated the same thing we've heard for years. Sorry, but that doesn't help.

  27. Yes the plugins had an expiration date. Emby wants to keep a walled garden for their plug-in store wanting to see code and tests before they give people access. So until they move to an inclusive setup where people and easily and automatically publish plugins. It’s just not worth developing anything the platform. It’s 2024 and we live in an automated world so I’m not going to manually upload a DLL, or run tests from a forum where you attach DLLs for new ideas and pushing out fixes/updates. I’m also not a fan of current implementation of not being able to limit a plugin to a specific version and only offering 1x payments. If I upload a plugin and it’s validated for 4.7 I don’t want to hear about I installed it on 4.8 and it’s not working. This should be prevented from the plugin store. Also we should be able to set a plugin for like 5$ a year or maybe 5$ for version 4.8 and have 1-2$ upgrade cost for 4.9. But again these are all things that will never happen. But rbj should be able to easily recreate these :p.

  31. It should also be present in mp3tag Mp3tag - Download Meaning emby uses tags, so you need to use something like mp3tag to edit your tags.

  32. Hey guys, thanks for your replies. I found the problem with help auf emby's metatag editor. There I detected a wrong musicbrains artist id. A doubled entry but only viewable inside emby's metatag editor. Now the album is fine Thanks!

  33. FYI the latest beta release of the app won't pay attention to missing episodes during playback if you uncheck the option to show them.

  34. Addendum: I was unsure what exactly to do and i tried the following with a test library (movies): I added another path to this library with exact the same content and did the scan. The result was, as expected, that i then had _two versions_ of the same content in this library. Basically as another item with another cover again. I would have to update metadata manually. But i was ok with it, at least i can copy stuff around in the emby-interface easily. I thought with shows it would function the same way but i am now into a (long) scan of my shows-library, and it hasn't finished yet, but what i see now is following: There is no double entries of shows. Also no double entries for seasons. Also no double entries for episodes. If i open up a specific episode it shows "two versions" of the same file with exactly the same filename that can be chosen in a dropdown-field. Metadata stayed the same. The custom images i chose are the same. The descriptions and tags stayed the same. Watch history stayed the same. My hope is that after the scan is finished i can then through normal UI remove the old path, wait for automatic scan to finish, and it will detect that those versions of the 'old library' are no longer there, and it will keep only the "new versions" and all the metadata. This would mean, at least for shows, a pretty frictionless migration to another library-content path. And everything stays online/available during the process. Just takes some time.

  38. This plugin was always a 'test' .. The use of plugins to fill fundamental gaps on emby functionality is becoming very tiresome. To not even have basic auto playlist/library creation after all these years is beyond frustrating. Its been #1 on the feature requests for ~8 years ...

  39. Well improvements take time and nothing ever happens over night as one change usually affects another. Not like the free product has everything either. But either way they got there start off all of Emby's hard work.

  40. This sounds as if this method has worked for you successfully? I am having the same problem right now. I made a database with a lots of custom information and metadata and posters and images and descriptions which took me really a long time. Losing all this labor now because i want to change the directory is really a bummer. I would be even happy with the option to manually import&export the metadata (including images and custom texts) of a certain mediaitem (movie or show). This would also take some time but matching up manually all those things where there is no metadata for it in the net would honestly take weeks.

Saludos.

  45. But it is difficult with every item page having more or less information on the same code. div.view-item-item .padded-top-page {position: relative; top: 50%;} But applies to all item views as there really isn't much difference for any item view.

  46. Last year, I had developed an entirely new IMVDB metadata provider where this (and other things) is working. @Lukedidn't want it - because...it's new... ...and I had developed it all new because I had come to the same conclusion: That the current implementation is not much useful in many cases.

  47. Hi, there are multiple ways to do that: Season context menu -> view missing episodes Series context menu -> view missing episodes The upcoming 4.8.2 maintenance release will have a new section in the metadata manager where you can see them for your entire library all at once.
