Ensure all passwords are good, and worry a bit less. Your whole machine is on the Internet; Emby is not solely responsible for its safety. If you really think more should be done, don't complain that someone else isn't doing enough, but learn to do more yourself in ways that fill the perceived gap (e.g. working out a way to link from the logs to fail2ban). If you have the slot and power then drop it in and give it a try. You should be able to squeeze more life out of that server with that GPU. https://developer.nvidia.com/video-encode-and-decode-gpu-support-matrix-new2 points

So, usually this place is filled with the series/season thumb or an fanart pic. I guess that's okay, no spoilers and all, but it gets boring real quick and to me it would make much more sense to have the episode thumb/screenshot there (maybe with the series logo added somehow). The only way to get it that way, is by deleting thumbs and fanart completely, but the latter are used on different places too, so I want to keep them. How about an option to use ep-thumbs for "continue" and "next up"?1 point

I thought there might be interest in reducing calls and such. All good.1 point

I am using the Emby Android app version 3.4.20. I have tried to reproduce the behavior and have not been able to. It seemed to work fine while my car is parked at home. But the problem definitely occurred when I was traveling in the last few weeks. Maybe it has something to do with the mobile connection not always being available or problems after a while when there were breaks between using Android Auto. I will try to reproduce the behavior in the near future and find out what could be the reason. If I find out, I will post my findings here.1 point

Wow, you just saved me. I just found the other Emby app and at immediate glance, you're correct. This looks much more in-line with the LG app. Just so you know, the other one comes up first when you search for 'Emby', and any normal person is going to think that is the primary app. Not sure if that's another version you guys control or what, but it had me believing that was the full Emby experience on Android. Thank you SO much.1 point

Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? It should be nearly identical to what you have on LG. Thanks.1 point

> with the caveat that the various client applications will still need to offer support for an OAuth login flow. Yea unfortunately I think adding _any_ form of support for SSO to clients is non-trivial. I don't really have a solution for this that doesn't involve shipping an entire browser with these clients, or (where supported) using the device's default browser, then logging in with a flow that you mentioned. > Though trusting headers from the reverse proxy could be a faster way to bring SSO support if it’s a huge headache to implement OIDC support on the server. This is my interpretation of why Emby doesn't already support this - it sounds like devs don't want really want to implement or maintain OIDC support. While I definitely would prefer first-class support for OIDC or SAML, this would at least get some form of SSO support added (after being requested for years without progress).1 point

For what it's worth, lack of SSO support (SAML or OIDC) is keeping me from using Emby/purchasing Emby Premiere. I've been using Jellyfin for year, and while I appreciate the Jellyfin's community's efforts, Jellyfin is pretty buggy and not worth the time it takes to manage it. However, even with all these issues, I'm not moving if it means giving up SSO support. -- There is an alternative that nobody else in this thread has mentioned yet... why not allow for authentication via HTTP header (as an option, not on by default), so that authentication can be handled by a reverse proxy for users that want it? This would entirely remove the need for SSO support baked into Emby itself (though it'd still be nice), while satisfying this feature request. Here's what setup would look like: 1. An admin would deploy Emby 2. An admin would add user accounts to Emby 3. An admin would configure Emby to look at/parse an HTTP header for the name/email/similar, ideally via a regex expression. Emby would have a configuration text box that would accept regex similar to `X-User-Email: (?<userEmail>)` so that admins can extract what is effectively a "claim" from an arbitrary HTTP header. Ideally, authentication via this header would be IP limited, or maybe use some other form of auth between Emby and the reverse proxy (next step). 4. An admin would deploy a reverse proxy that handles the entire SSO flow. This reverse proxy would pass the "user claim" HTTP header to Emby when a user is authenticated. There's a lot of options for reverse proxies here, and the community could develop an Emby-specific one if needed (removing the burden from Emby developers) Here's what the login flow would look like: 1. A user would go to https://reverse-proxy.domain-name.tld 2. When logged out, the reverse proxy would handle the SSO login flow and not forward traffic to Emby 3. After the login flow is complete, the reverse proxy would forward all future requests to Emby, adding the `X-User-Email` (or similar) "user claim" HTTP header to every request 4. Emby would treat these requests as requests from the authenticated user, without asking for a password/similar As I see it, this would entirely remove the burden of maintaining SSO support from Emby, while supporting the feature for users that want it.1 point

I haven't modified the database, and I've only just queried the database for records.1 point

Personally don't see Emby spending to much time on this as they are already telling there may be a issue via logging. Just like me opening port 3389 for RDP in Windows will not automatically block the brute force attacks of the world trying to get in. I have to do all the work to ensure I am the only one that can Remote access my machine to the best of my abilities.1 point

Hi, I am new to Emby after being a plex pass user for more than a decade. First Emby is fantastic, after a short trial I became an Emby premiere user. I think all you do is perfect, no problems. Server user friendly, no questions. However I use Android pad and android/google tv and do not understand why the user interface is not the same. An example for mixed content. I have several video playlists that I have put a letter in front of the title, A,B,C for them to show up in that order using sort by name. Works on the standard android app on my Lenovo pad, but on the tv version i do not get that to work. They show up random. The standard app does also have a side menu which is missing on the tv version. Any chance of upgrading the tv version.1 point

Hi. No, that is the very old original name of Emby. Also, please note that video themes are not supported on Roku or Apple TV at this time. Theme music should work.1 point

Well, to a human's eye yes you can easily pick out the title vs the year and you are familiar with your particular naming scheme and probably have all the items named the same. But that's a ton of limiting assumptions. How does a computer know where the title ends when the same delimiter is used in multiple places? Which delimiter is supposed to "count"? For example: The.10.angry.people.mkv The.12.small.boys.mkv Are those two versions of the same movie? Then consider a folder with a random bunch of movies named many different ways - some with dots some without, etc. Our naming conventions supply a unique way to identify that two items are, in fact, supposed to be different versions of the same thing and also a way to give unique names to those versions.1 point

As you appear to have an issue with the term sloppy, I had already apologized earlier in this thread. But imo, on a self hosted internet based system, there is a level of basic protection and information you need to provide as Emby is opening up that network. You, as a supplier of the software have a responsibility to do this. If you choose (as you have done in this instance) to do what you consider 'acceptable' then fine - but don't then get involved with logging at the same alert level for things which you are considering you are not responsible for. The result is people raising the alerts on the forums .. hence this thread.. Perhaps put any effort into reporting to syslog and then let the user decide. I would block by ip - and it would also then get reported to potentially get added to a blacklist so everyone can benefit...1 point

Thanks, I found out it's in relation to my booster - when I unplugged the synology and connected it directly to the router it worked! For some reason my booster however can't seem to connect to the internet (even when I plugged it directly to the router via an ethernet cable) so will need to figure out how to fix that. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, it really is appreciated.1 point

It seems to me to be clear that Emby handles the attempts to log in with non-existent user names safely. Given that fact, the main effects of the proposals in this thread would not affect security significantly (if that was an issue, then the attempts before any blocking would remain a problem), but would just be to reduce the amount of logging... As a fan of all your plugins from the very start - in fact your plugin enhancement was a huge selling point for me when switching from Plex back when Emby still was on v3 - have all my love and condolences @radeon. I lost my mother a few years back to the fight against cancer, I can truly imagine and re-feel the pain you are currently in. All the best to you and all the strength to you and your family. May you find solace1 point

Core module (service), yes. Others are optional. -> For new installations If you upgrade from 9.X simply install the video module and the service module (core module in 10.X) will be installed automatically as a dependency. If you only installed the 10.X service module without updating the video module, there will be a collision. (In 9.x, the video module is the core module). Actually there are no manual adjustments required, if the plugin is updated from Emby's Kodi repository. "Emby Server busy: Sync in progress" sound the Emby server is really busy with some tasks -> scanning for example. You can also send me a kodi.log if you think there is a bug.1 point

If you don't want to do anything crazy, just get and Nvidia card and call it day. You can pick up a P1000 for about $100. If you really want to replace your entire system, then an i3-12100 will do the job fine. DO NOT GET AN F VARIANT. You need the iGPU for using quicksync. Heck you could just make your current server a dumb server and build a new system also. So many possibilities.1 point

I went ahead and installed Emby Android and everything seems to be working well so thanks for all the help/guidance here! A couple of nuanced questions. Is there a way to re-map the buttons on a remote? I'm using to pressing down to get the playbar as opposed to pressing up. Is there a way to change audio stream on the fly (similar to the emby android tv app)? It seems like I have to back out of the player in order to change the audio.1 point

It looks like development on the plugin has stopped, but someone has created a fork of it and is making updates. Seems to be working if you want to try it. https://github.com/MoojMidge/service.upnext1 point

Would also like to see this feature. I think this is the only feature that is missing compared to other photo library sharing solutions. Still the best photo sharing compared to all other non-docker solutions1 point

Thats fine, thanks guys. I'll likely just keep one once I've finished image and power benchmarking to understand which suits my needs best.1 point

Of course there's lots of things that could be done in addition but when you start talking about tracking things that are not a part of the current Emby install, it gets complicated quickly. Blocking an existing user for some period of time can be done by just adding an attribute to an existing user record. But blocking a user that doesn't exist now means we need a whole new database table and management system for keeping track of things that aren't there. And then what happens when someone creates a new user - we have to now go look and be sure thy aren't in this list of users that weren't there before. All of this introduces complexity which translates to future bug potential and also takes time to design and implement. All for something that, arguably, should be handled at a different layer of access. Shouldn't we be spending that time on core features of the media system instead? Like I've already said - future improvements are possible as they make sense within the scope of everything else but the current implementation is not unreasonable and is within the scope of our system.1 point

I just would like to add, I was receiving the "mediabroswer" error as well , using the tvheadend plug-in. What fixed the error for me, was I had to use persistent authentication for my username I use with Emby and tvheadend. And after I rebooted tvheadend the plug-in began to work1 point

Not having the ISO feature in Emby is what moved me to a different solution in my home theater setup. I really love Emby but I also want my movie collection with menu support for the extras that are on the disc. I ended up using the Zidoo 1000 Pro for my device. The menu options are great. The decide is Android based and it's the highest quality that I know of that you can get for video and audio quality. You can side load Emby with this as well. But it has the option from the movie poster to either play the the full disc and get the menus or you can just play the movie and skip the menus. All from the ISO. One of the Only downsides is that it's about $500 depending on which you get. I was using an Nvidia shield pro and when I switched over the sound quality and video quality was immediately noticed. I have a dedicated theater room I built my self so everyone's needs may be different. If you want a high end experience I would recommend Zidoo! https://www.zidoo.tv/Product/index/model/Z3000+PRO/target/WAI9KvWCJQBKKmVViAFMcQ%3D%3D.html1 point

Is this part of a bigger revamp of the home screen itself, or did you mean only the settings? Because in my opinion the home screen needs to improve drastically. More dynamic, more individualism, more interesting categories to show, maybe a configurable featured section etc. Basically, there should be something new to explore, every time I visit it. I mean, it's not even possible to put playlists or genre on the home screen, whether it's static or dynamic. I would really love to hear a little bit about your plans regarding the home screen, if you can share anything1 point
