Hey everyone, I recently encountered a small yet frustrating issue while managing my Emby library: finding duplicate movies. There were two types of duplicates I was dealing with: Two files of the same movie. Emby identifies one movie as another. To solve this, I decided to create a simple web project that works in any environment. All you need to do is provide your Emby server URL and API key—no need to dive into complex setups or configurations. The tool will scan your libraries for duplicates, and if any are found, it allows you to download a list showing the movie names and their file paths organized by the library. If you're facing a similar issue, you can try out the tool here: https://imahmud1.github.io/emby-dupe-finder/ For those interested in tinkering with the code or contributing, the project is open-source, and you can find the repo here: https://github.com/imahmud1/emby-dupe-finder I hope this helps anyone else dealing with duplicate movies in their Emby setup! Cheers!4 points

I'm with @rbjtechon changing the functionality of the lockout feature to include unknown user id's. It seems like a simple modification, and even if it's not a perfect solution or a network layer hindrance, it will most of the time cause the attacking bot or persons to move on to another target, solving the immediate issue. not all the time, but most, and that is a far cry better than none of the times.. As long as a bot gets the auth failed message back, it will continue trying for a long time, if blocked, or getting no response at all after 10 tries, it will move on.. So please devs, even if it is not a perfect solution or permanent fix, implement this, or remove the alert, as I can imagine many users get grey hairs when they see all the attempts.. Another irritation, is that it fills up the alert log, thus hindering me to se actual issues I care about, as they are moved down the list before i notice them..3 points

I like this, since it works local too. Just open the html file, input info. And Nice list2 points

Thank you. Though I can't create complex tools or an entire dashboard for general use, I was thinking about whether other small issues like this can be solved that utilizes API. I have already created a simple dashboard that mainly shows streams and the total number of contents.2 points

You should consider fail2ban as it helps protect against brute force attacks. If you aren't already using SSL and a reverse proxy server, consider SWAG docker as it includes fail2ban. https://github.com/fail2ban/fail2ban https://docs.linuxserver.io/general/swag/2 points

In particular I'm missing the option to manually start a download when, for who knows what reason, Emby will only download 2 out of 8 TV show episodes, the rest showing merely as "ready to transfer" in Downloads -> Manage Downloads.1 point

Wow I just had to comment on this topic. One of the main reasons I just moved from Plex to Emby is because Emby looks better in every way so I find it funny that some think the opposite. different strokes for different folks I guess lol1 point

And why is this being posted here? But at least needs move to say Other as PS3 Media Server is outside the scope of Emby.1 point

Missing a few codecs on that list I would need such as DTSHD, and Dolby Atmos could very well mean EAC only. If it's geared toward streaming then that would seem to indicate no lossless audio formats, probably no PGS subtitles, etc that you find on UHD remuxes. Would like to see more details on launch though.1 point

Any Emby Theatre client should be able to display Horizontal mode, as Happy indicated above. If you have an Android TV device then you should download the 'Emby for Android' app from app store. (not the Emby for Android TV app)1 point

Don't believe the Android TV app has this option you will need the Android app.1 point

Isn't that just Display mode: TV, Home Screen: TV Screen Home Screen: Horizontal.1 point

Hi, there is currently no way to do this, although this has come up before and is possible for future updates. Thanks.1 point

@AllesMeins @hoopsdavisThanks - as part of Cinema Intro makes sense. Luckily I aquire my own Trailers so never really seen an issue with this but 480p trailers on a 4K screen must be painful to watch ... You'd think studios would want people to see the trailers .. but I guess it's the cost of hosting and the bandwidth plus a lot of sponsorship deals I guess .. all about the money ..1 point

On your router did you by chance port forward 8096 and 8920? When you use a reverse proxy the only port you want open on your router is port 443. That way only port 443 is exposed to the world and the reverse proxy will handle the internal ports and serve them all as 443 externally.1 point

I have set up the debug on the Emby ATV app. I just wanted to do as much troubleshooting my self to help them eliminate issues. UPDATE: @JayceDK was right! I used ffmpeg to convert the audio from 7.1 to stereo and remove the 7.1 track and it plays fine. It does transcode and its super fast. So the issue here is that Emby is forcing the video to transcode when the audio needs to. Thanks @JayceDKyou bloody champ. Now all I need to do is get those logs to emby and see if the devs can sort this out.1 point

This continues to be a very poor experience with bugs and problems on top and would really benefit from improvements ASAP. * On Android the resume button on the notification never works. * There have been random cases where something has downloaded according to the UI but it never showed, like it silently cancelled. * The ux is very poor on the UI around trying to figure out how a download is going. The only way to see is via the Android notifications tray, but it lies or doesn't show the full queue.1 point

To be honest, I haven't done much on it, since I posted this here. Was just too busy with other stuff in my life. I had the script working in a way that I could run it manually after library updates. But it was such a mess, because I tested so much out with how to handle the caching, how to track changes of posters or getting to know if it's already edited or not, how to handle the whole creation of overlays and stuff. It worked, but it wasn't looking nice^^ And since it was working for me, I kinda lost interest in working on it. But.. now it's not working anymore, because IMDb changed a few important things on their website. Because of that, I decided to start fresh and make it clean this time. There is also a way to use the GraphQL API that IMDb uses to fetch content, so I won't rely on scraping the website anymore. Of course, there's no ETA, but I'm freshly motivated again. My free time is limited though, so it will take quite some time.1 point

Completely unfair, IMO. It is effective for what it needs to do and within the scope of our product. If the user doesn't exist, what would be locked out? You might say something like IP address but my response would be that would have limited effect and, also, that level of blocking is better left to something at the network level. If they try forever with an invalid user, what is the harm? They'll never get in... so, aren't they effectively "locked out" of Emby?1 point

Ugly (and also no option to show collections on Home Screen): pretty: also check the image from live tv. On Emby for Android tv it is wide/landscape and on standaard met it is a poster format! When there are complains about landscape/poster formats for live tv you say it can’t be done and is a error or something from the epg provider?! And now I see it can be done please guys. It can all be done, right? So fix it0 points

Yes it does. It is windows 95 compared to windows 10 or Pepsi cola and Coca Cola. The emby for android tv does do the work like playing stuf but it got the most ugly design I have seen. No, I cannot do better but I know you do…. Look at the “standard” emby app, perfect for me…… but the playback is a hell (transcoding my pc to the moon). Also copy all features please (1 great thing of Emby for android tv is the warning when you hit “back” to much and almost exiting Emby. That’s not in the “standard” Emby app.)0 points
