What's the status on improving trailers to a viewable quality. This is within the paid "Emby Premiere" option I believe. We should have better quality than we're getting. My other recommendation is remove the trailer option from the paid Premiere service and drop the price a bit. We're paying for a partial service that is below a paying standard. This has been going on for about or close to a year now and there seems to be no improvement, updates or other options provided. Lets figure this out.3 points

Which is sad - Emby have a responsbility to protect not only their product and your media collection, but also the home network on which it is hosted. Lets say there is a vulnerability on an Authenticated account - allowing shell access. Now the lack of 'emby' security means your local network is visable and further attacks can now be made, snooping on your bank login credentials etc. All because embys view is they don't want to discourage the non-tech savvy from using emby remotely. As soon as you hit that 'remote access' button - you should be forced to create a decent password on all the admin accounts, and personally on all user accounts as well but until there is a decent way to enter this password or a OTP mechanism into the Apps - then I can see why they don't want to do this. They need to prioritise this imo but until they get hit again with a widespread vulnerability, I don't see things changing ...3 points

Anyone that allows there admin accounts to be logged in remotely without 2fa should not do so. Personally I use a VPN if I want to login to my local http admin. Until 2fa is added I recommend all to do it this way .2 points

I would try with TV show library. Folder name : Dance recital. Season Folder : 2024 Filename : Dance recital - S2024E01 etc. Edit metadata as you like.2 points

@Luke The problem has been resolved. The Developer was able to address it earlier today. "ok, latest dev build removes the specific call identified in the post (startindex = 0, limit = 0)" I triggered a manual scan and the server did not go offline and the collections have been synced to ersatz tv. I am truly appreciative of your taking the time to look into this and to @sa2000 for the suggested solution. Thank You. LongMan2 points

They have 4.8.8 in review now and we were told that if it passes it would be released mid-July. So right now all we can do is wait.2 points

Not with Emby; but there's other tools you can use to transcode your media. I recently setup Tdarr to automatically transcode anything that gets added to my libraries into HEVC/MKV for a ~40% space savings. https://home.tdarr.io/2 points

It would be great to have an option to rewatch tv series. Some times it's hard to tell what was the last episode watched if the entire show has been marked as watched. It occurs to me that this can be done with a counter that can differentiate if the numbers of plays is odd or pair showing a different color marker on each episode accordingly, so if the entire show has been watched again all episode should have the same color.1 point

I have my firewall blocking countries that dont have emby users, and I am seeing attempts to connect from invalid countries to my emby server with uri path /emby/system/info/public. I am also seeing attempts to connect to my server with uri path /emby/Sync/Items/Ready Are these sniffing/hacking attempts, or is this something emby themselves are doing for licensing or something ? I am really locking down the system by blocking user agents, countries, invalid host names, common uri path attacks etc and I want to make sure I am not crippling emby in some way. What is so important with these two url's - I tried them and this is returned - should this info be allowed to be 'got' ? emby.mydomain.com/emby/system/info/public - comes back with {"LocalAddresses":[],"RemoteAddresses":[],"ServerName":"Emby Live Server","Version":"4.8.8.0","Id":"7bfd892c0ae9465298af79545af9812c"} emby.mydomain.com/emby/Sync/Items/Ready - comes back with Access token is invalid or expired.1 point

Is HTTPS only mode on? Look under Settings, Privacy and Security, HTTPS-Only Even if it is on you can add emby as a exception by clicking Manage Exceptions, and adding your Emby server address.1 point

Yes, I used that to mount my external folders when I moved to the NAS a few months ago. I gave those folders write permission, (I think). Obviously, I am missing something.1 point

i personally created a new user with no admin rights i use this to watch shows when im away. and just disable https access on your admin account you have currently. if you want to keep your watched list the same you could do what you suggested and make a new admin account disable https access. then change rights on your old admin to a regular user.1 point

That's probably a good best-practice 'in general', but currently my Emby container restarts once a week (unrelated to this issue) and that should suffice for now. I did notice your list of plugins & mine share one common entry - Emby.DiagnosticsPlugin. I've removed that one and am keeping an eye on it for now, will report back next week to see if the issue has been resolved.1 point

Use mkvtoolnix (free) - add each part as an additional file to the first part. in Output/chapters - change to 'One chapter for each appended file' It then create a single MKV file, with all the appended files automatically created as chapters. It should take minutes ...1 point

Issue now is Library config is db only so root/default/eachlibrary no longer exists or is no longer read if exists. But will have to export userdata from backup db via plugin or manual export/import userdatas table from db to db.1 point

The web login page displays the server name and the page source has the release. If those are considered sensitive then they would have to change as well.1 point
-
This used to return all of those details with an unauthenticated call and the dev team changed it a few years ago to require authentication before it returned the missing data. With the exception of the ID value the rest of the information you can also get from the server login page, so nothing sensitive is revealed anymore. Yes, this was/is the mechanism used by apps and other APIs to get the server LAN and WAN addresses.1 point

HI Admins Is there a way to prevent the sub-user from accessing his settings panel? So he can't change translation settings, or arrange the main screen, or change colors1 point

I believe that is something different and deals with background issues. Anyhow, it didn't fix it for me when I tried yesterday.1 point

Hi all, I have the same issue and it has been going on forever, so just wanted to share my files in order for it to be fixed. To me, it look like a few seconds of the audio are replayed, and then it "catches up" again by skipping the next few seconds, and everything is back in sync. Currently, I am using Brave v 1.67.123 but have been able to reproduce it on other browsers in the past. The Emby app for Mac is what I am using to properly play the files. There are zero issues with that. The issue happened just about 2-3 seconds before I stopped playback to export the log files. Please see the 2 files attached, and let me know if you need anything else. Thank you! embyserver (1).txt ffmpeg-remux-3944e6ec-364c-40aa-b902-da6235297f7d_1.txt1 point

Yes you would want its own library and disable all metadata providers.1 point

Not sure if the results of this server url should be open to all and not behind a user/password ? emby.mydomain.com/emby/system/info/public A database of known emby servers could be built by a bot scanner if that is open to all - the version, server name and whatever than long number is (Its not an API key luckily or you would have issues bigtime).1 point

Hi, no the Emby LG app will be caught up after it’s next update. Thanks.1 point

Shutter Encoder - available for a small donation to the author will join files in many formats, without re-coding. It merges a wide variety formats. It also merges multiple files on one operation. I think the most files I have merged in one go is 9. It also offers many other features like audio remuxing, and some video editing features. Unfortunately, you need to go to MKV to add chapters. That would likely cut it to three operations. Merge, re-code, and add chapters.1 point

Good to see the 2024 update to this 2,372-day-old thread. I wonder if we'll still be debating whether or not something that has been pretty much standard on any internet-facing service for the past 2-3 years will have been added to emby before the 2025 update? The lack of MFA after all this time is indefensible.1 point

Thank you for your detailed response. I appreciate your insights and the thorough breakdown of the points I raised. You’ve highlighted some important aspects of security that are crucial to consider. I agree that: Layered Security: Using multiple layers, including network-level security and diverse vendors, is essential. Mitigating Risks: Educating users on strong, unique passwords is fundamental, and MFA shouldn’t be a crutch for poor password practices. Widespread Adoption: The convenience of MFA often compensates for common bad habits, but it works best in conjunction with strong passwords. Remote Access: MFA is not a cure-all, especially if fundamental security practices are ignored. HTTPS and MFA: Focusing on HTTPS implementation first is a priority, with MFA as part of that comprehensive strategy. I also agree that exposing admin accounts to the internet is risky, and MFA alone won't mitigate that risk. To sum up, while MFA is a valuable part of security, it's not a substitute for fundamental security measures. It should be part of a holistic approach that includes robust password practices, HTTPS, and other layers of security. I’m glad we’re on the same side in aiming for better security overall. Thanks again for the discussion!1 point

Emby's current file stacking method would not work as it is limited to 9 parts. Movie Naming | #split-video-files-file-stacking As for Joining files this should help1 point
-
To my reading, I don't think you're actually disagreeing. I think theres nuance thats getting lost in language here. It's true that MFA should not replace a robust security setup. It's also true that MFA requires a robust security foundation to be valuable. Only once the basics are in place can a worthwhile MFA system be implemented.1 point

Settings>Display, you can select how many Genres you prefer displayed on top. Regardless of that setting, Media Info section at the bottom of the Detail page will list all of them.1 point
