It's not necessarily about better overall performance, but Intel with built in quicksync (gen 10 onwards) has a much more efficient power > transcoding performance than a AMD+Nvidia Combo. You are effectively getting the iGPU for a fraction of the cost (and using a fraction of the power) of what you would need to reproduce the same transcoding performance with a discreet Nvidia card. Another perhaps more cost effective option is a Intel ARC A380 card - this will give you quicksync on a discreet card - without the extortionate cost of an Nvidia Card when you are only using a fraction of it's capabilities for transcoding anyway - the rest of the card (for 3D) will be sittling there idle...2 points

@Lukeif you fulfill this much needed request, making our TV playlists “shuffle” function wife approved, you’ll be removing a pain point in my day to day life you can’t possibly imagine. I couldn’t be more happy having found this.2 points

LOL sounds like something that you would do from the way you post in this community. But community devs have earned users trust here and most of their code is online to validate. But to get into the catalog due diligence is done.2 points

If you head to the back&restore page, click 'extract data from backup' then select the effected users and restore them; does that fix your issue? Alternatively; if you create a new user, then extract data like above, but map an old user to this newly created one; does the new user now have items marked as watched? If that second method doesn't yield any results, I'd say your backup is incomplete for whatever reason.2 points

Is the Windows networking mode on the server machine set to "Public"? If so, change it to "Private". Paul2 points

TheTVDB now supports more alternative orders than just Aired/Absolute/DVD. Can Emby query these additional orders and add them as options? Two examples of shows I've seen this used are Re:Zero which has a "Director's Cut" display order and Money Heist which has a "Netflix" order. https://thetvdb.com/series/re-zero-starting-life-in-another-world https://thetvdb.com/series/la-casa-de-papel1 point

Hi, This has been talked about a lot on the Apple TV forums, but there is no formal request for it. So I do it here, please add support for MKV HEVC HDR playback using Apple TV (without tone mapping). I don't care what technique you use. Either adding HLS fPM4 support to the server or improving the MPV player. I anticipate that I am not satisfied with you saying that Apple TV does not support that, since most players on the market support it. Thanks1 point

Yes, I will do that. I sort of drop everything to work on PseudoTV. By the way, I have a new GUI that you might like to look at. I will fix this issue tomorrow. It's nice to hear from you Vic1 point

+1 for this feature!! Reading .pdfs and .epubs/.mobi directly in browser would be amazing.1 point

Almost the same way you created it. Now for anyone wanting to remove this Virtual library or accidently recreated duplicate libraries here are the steps. But before you do this make a copy of /metadata/collection as it will be cleared/delete and may end up with broken placeholder images for existing collections.1 point

I take it back. I am now able to access the playlists in the expected way. It all appears to work flawlessly. Thank you so much! I have one qualm about v10 - I wish I could update settings from either of the 2 apps. I have a widget for video add-ons, so I was always able to edit Emby For Kodi settings easily from my home screen. I don't have a widget for Services.1 point

Thank you, Luke. I will report back after the next version is released.1 point

I added a test film and it worked, it had something to do with the libraries. I've just added them all back and its working again. Thank you1 point

@Lukecan you please try adding Brazil when you're next reviewing Samsung countries? Thanks1 point

Hi Thanks for the info but what will it bring as extra that Symfonium is not doing already ? Vincèn1 point

No, totally unrelated to that matter. Also the GetDirectory error is not critical, actually "correct" in this case. It's used for multi-content selection to avoid timeouts (and image loading).1 point

Paul, you are awesome!!! That's what the problem was, thank you, thank you, thank you so much. I messed with this stupid thing for almost two hours today before posting my question. Took me about a minute or two and problem solved. Thanks again sir.1 point

Yes, that is a limitation here, but you can potentially manually update the database tables to possibly maintain this info. As mentioned in other cross-platform migration topics. Basic example of path update I did recently UPDATE "main"."MediaItems" SET "Path" = replace( "Path", 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos', 'E:\Media' ) WHERE path LIKE 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos%'; UPDATE "main"."MediaItems" SET "Images" = replace( "Images", 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos', 'E:\Media' ) WHERE Images LIKE 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos%'; UPDATE "main"."MediaStreams2" SET "Path" = replace( "Path", 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos', 'E:\Media' ) WHERE path LIKE 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos%'; UPDATE "main"."Chapters3" SET "ImagePath" = replace( "ImagePath", 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos', 'E:\Media' ) WHERE imagepath LIKE 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos%'; UPDATE "main"."ItemExtradata" SET "Value" = replace( "Value", '"Path":"C:\\Users\\Media\\Desktop\\Videos', '"Path":"E:\\Media' ) WHERE value LIKE '%"Path":"C:\\Users\\Media\\Desktop\\Videos%'; As for customids not really unless you want to flood you server log with errors for fakeids and potentially end up reusing an id as you would have to know what you have already used. But yes it would good if Emby could generate some sort of customid that could be maintained. @Luke1 point

While incorporating the artist to the search will help resolve my issue, but maybe there could also be a toggle for an exact match? Sometimes if a song name is a common word, or made up of letters that tend to go together in another word, lost of results appear. For example, if I search for Stan (The Eminem song). I get results such as: Standard, Stand Back, Here I Stand, Stand by me, Stand up and 37 episodes of American Dad with the word Stan in the title. In fact Stan by Eminem came up as result 79 on the list of 346 results.1 point

You will see this as the app launches if you experienced a prior crash in the app. The text is subject to change. But we want to make it so users want to send us logs so we can fix their crash. After you choose an option the app will launch normally and continue loading. But it will wait until users make a choice here. It does not automate fully the sending of logs. We want users to choose to help us. Users are not required to help by sending logs. It is just nice to see since we cannot personally find all the crashes.1 point

@NinkoI have some good news regarding crashes. With Roku OS13 we have the ability to detect when the app launches if it crashed the last time it ran. You will be able to automatically send us the stack trace from when the app crashed on your Roku. We will have a dialog that spawns when the application starts that alerts you that we noticed your device has previously crashed. We will then ask you if you would like to send us logs. It does this all automatically without the user having to set the app into debug mode or do anything special at all. You literally just launch the app after a crash. It will allow us to then fix your issue if you choose to send us logs from the dialog. We cannot fix crashes we do not know about. So hopefully most of the users choose to send these crash logs to us. The next update to the Roku app should include this automatic crash logging ability. This will also allow every user experiencing crashes to send us anonymous stack traces to pinpoint exactly where these crashes occur in the app and how. It will make it much easier for users to participate in finding issues that cause the app to crash. We will know the exact place in the app these crashes occured and what the state of the objects were at that time. That will make it several orders of magnitude faster to have users report these issues and get them fixed quickly and easily. Better days are ahead. You won't have to make a forum post when the Roku app crashes after this. Please stay tuned.1 point

You have the same problem as @Inx192The latest beta server has some code breaking changes. I'm waiting for feedback of the Emby devs. You can rollback to 4.9.0.24 for the time being.1 point

OH YES! FINALLY! I am lurking this forum now like every 3 months for a long time and always only check this thread. I am really missing the "favorites" functions/handling in emby, but i can't live without smart playlists. I moved to plex some years ago only because of this. As soon as smart playlists are possible and the management for them (sorting possible in folders) is great i will move back the same day!1 point

+1 on this.. I am planning on leaving Plex for Emby but this is one of the most important changes that i will be missing with Plex.1 point

Just here to show my support for this as well. The "Smart Playlists 2.0" Plugin by @ShanePis great and fulfills a lot of the requirements already. But the most important part is missing, and that's including the collections and playlists into the homescreen, so users can discover new and interesting content easily. (As well as the sorting functionality inside the collections/playlists!) "Recently added" on the homescreen just doesn't cut it anymore, and i say this as a big emby fan and premiere user for years. We are slowly approaching 10 years since this feature request was brought up and we still don't have it on the horizon. It's quite disheartening to be honest. Maybe work with @ShanePto refine the plugin and include it into emby? He obviously has a solid base already. Obviously this would be a premiere feature. I know that developing emby is hard and a lot of work, i appreciate Luke and the other devs a lot and i love supporting this project. But i can't stress enough how much this feature would elevate emby to the next level for a lot of users.1 point

@Luke- Hi - so are we any closer to Home Screen Smart rows/libraries/channels - based on smartlists ? I halted my own efforts to get this 'working' (hacked) but stopped as you advised it was something you were hopefully working on back in August of last year post the 4.8 release... Its now 9 months later - 4.8 has been and gone - Is it even on the cards ? If not, then I'll carry on with my own 'hack' (and now wish I had just carried on with it..) as my own users are now fed up waiting for this essential missing feature ...1 point

Courtesy of @Happy2Play: Here are the steps to creating a Collections library on a new install. On the server dashboard at the bottom of the page there is a link to the API. Note there are connections requirements of using localhost or a HTTPS connection. But there is a workaround with browser flags to allow your LAN connection from any address. In Chrome/Edge entered IP or Hostname depending how you connect. edge://flags / chrome://flags (but other browsers should have the same options) Once you have access to Swagger you will go to LibraryStructureService and expand Then you will expand /Library/VirtualFolders and click "Try it out" Then go to "AddVirtualFolder" box and clear it. Now you will copy this library config and paste into "AddVirtualFolder" field. { "Name": "Collections", "Locations": [], "CollectionType": "boxsets", "LibraryOptions": { "EnableArchiveMediaFiles": false, "EnablePhotos": true, "EnableRealtimeMonitor": true, "EnableMarkerDetection": false, "EnableMarkerDetectionDuringLibraryScan": false, "IntroDetectionFingerprintLength": 10, "EnableChapterImageExtraction": false, "ExtractChapterImagesDuringLibraryScan": false, "DownloadImagesInAdvance": true, "CacheImages": false, "PathInfos": [], "IgnoreHiddenFiles": false, "IgnoreFileExtensions": [], "SaveLocalMetadata": true, "SaveMetadataHidden": false, "SaveLocalThumbnailSets": false, "ImportPlaylists": true, "EnableAutomaticSeriesGrouping": true, "ShareEmbeddedMusicAlbumImages": true, "EnableEmbeddedTitles": false, "EnableAudioResume": false, "AutoGenerateChapters": true, "AutomaticRefreshIntervalDays": 0, "PlaceholderMetadataRefreshIntervalDays": 0, "PreferredMetadataLanguage": "", "PreferredImageLanguage": "", "ContentType": "boxsets", "MetadataCountryCode": "", "MetadataSavers": [ "Nfo" ], "DisabledLocalMetadataReaders": [], "LocalMetadataReaderOrder": [ "Nfo" ], "DisabledLyricsFetchers": [], "SaveLyricsWithMedia": true, "LyricsDownloadMaxAgeDays": 180, "LyricsFetcherOrder": [], "LyricsDownloadLanguages": [], "DisabledSubtitleFetchers": [], "SubtitleFetcherOrder": [], "SkipSubtitlesIfEmbeddedSubtitlesPresent": false, "SkipSubtitlesIfAudioTrackMatches": false, "SubtitleDownloadLanguages": [], "SubtitleDownloadMaxAgeDays": 180, "RequirePerfectSubtitleMatch": true, "SaveSubtitlesWithMedia": true, "ForcedSubtitlesOnly": false, "HearingImpairedSubtitlesOnly": false, "TypeOptions": [ { "Type": "BoxSet", "MetadataFetchers": [ "TheMovieDb" ], "MetadataFetcherOrder": [ "TheMovieDb" ], "ImageFetchers": [ "FanArt", "TheMovieDb", "Dynamic Image Provider" ], "ImageFetcherOrder": [ "FanArt", "TheMovieDb", "Dynamic Image Provider" ], "ImageOptions": [ { "Type": "Primary", "Limit": 1, "MinWidth": 0 }, { "Type": "Art", "Limit": 0, "MinWidth": 0 }, { "Type": "BoxRear", "Limit": 0, "MinWidth": 0 }, { "Type": "Banner", "Limit": 0, "MinWidth": 0 }, { "Type": "Box", "Limit": 0, "MinWidth": 0 }, { "Type": "Disc", "Limit": 0, "MinWidth": 0 }, { "Type": "Logo", "Limit": 1, "MinWidth": 0 }, { "Type": "Menu", "Limit": 0, "MinWidth": 0 }, { "Type": "Thumb", "Limit": 1, "MinWidth": 0 }, { "Type": "Backdrop", "Limit": 1, "MinWidth": 1280 } ] } ], "CollapseSingleItemFolders": true, "EnableAdultMetadata": false, "ImportCollections": false, "MinCollectionItems": 2, "MinResumePct": 5, "MaxResumePct": 90, "MinResumeDurationSeconds": 120, "ThumbnailImagesIntervalSeconds": -1, "SampleIgnoreSize": 314572800 } } Now hit "Execute" Now got to Library setup and verify setting are setup to your needs. Note if you click "Execute" more than one you will create multiple Collections libraries. Now for anyone wanting to remove this Virtual library or accidently recreated duplicate libraries here are the steps. Go to LibraryStructureService then /Library/VirtualFolders/Query and click Try it out and Execute to get a list of your libraries to see their id/itemid near the bottom of each library. Simplified to 1 library { "Items": [ { "Name": "Collections", "Locations": [], "CollectionType": "boxsets", "LibraryOptions": { "EnableArchiveMediaFiles": false, "EnablePhotos": true, "EnableRealtimeMonitor": false, "EnableMarkerDetection": false, "EnableMarkerDetectionDuringLibraryScan": false, "IntroDetectionFingerprintLength": 10, "EnableChapterImageExtraction": false, "ExtractChapterImagesDuringLibraryScan": false, "DownloadImagesInAdvance": true, "CacheImages": false, "PathInfos": [], "IgnoreHiddenFiles": false, "IgnoreFileExtensions": [], "SaveLocalMetadata": true, "SaveMetadataHidden": false, "SaveLocalThumbnailSets": false, "ImportPlaylists": true, "EnableAutomaticSeriesGrouping": true, "ShareEmbeddedMusicAlbumImages": true, "EnableEmbeddedTitles": false, "EnableAudioResume": false, "AutoGenerateChapters": true, "AutomaticRefreshIntervalDays": 0, "PlaceholderMetadataRefreshIntervalDays": 0, "PreferredMetadataLanguage": "", "PreferredImageLanguage": "", "ContentType": "boxsets", "MetadataCountryCode": "", "MetadataSavers": [ "Nfo" ], "DisabledLocalMetadataReaders": [], "LocalMetadataReaderOrder": [ "Nfo" ], "DisabledLyricsFetchers": [], "SaveLyricsWithMedia": true, "LyricsDownloadMaxAgeDays": 180, "LyricsFetcherOrder": [], "LyricsDownloadLanguages": [], "DisabledSubtitleFetchers": [], "SubtitleFetcherOrder": [], "SkipSubtitlesIfEmbeddedSubtitlesPresent": false, "SkipSubtitlesIfAudioTrackMatches": false, "SubtitleDownloadLanguages": [], "SubtitleDownloadMaxAgeDays": 180, "RequirePerfectSubtitleMatch": true, "SaveSubtitlesWithMedia": true, "ForcedSubtitlesOnly": false, "HearingImpairedSubtitlesOnly": false, "TypeOptions": [ { "Type": "BoxSet", "MetadataFetchers": [ "TheMovieDb" ], "MetadataFetcherOrder": [ "TheMovieDb" ], "ImageFetchers": [ "TheMovieDb", "Dynamic Image Provider", "FanArt" ], "ImageFetcherOrder": [ "TheMovieDb", "Dynamic Image Provider", "FanArt" ], "ImageOptions": [] } ], "CollapseSingleItemFolders": false, "EnableAdultMetadata": false, "ImportCollections": false, "MinCollectionItems": 2, "MinResumePct": 3, "MaxResumePct": 90, "MinResumeDurationSeconds": 120, "ThumbnailImagesIntervalSeconds": -1, "SampleIgnoreSize": 314572800 }, "ItemId": "126485", "Id": "126485", "Guid": "2faa6a99f9d24feabfeab2f97e3764d7", "PrimaryImageItemId": "126485" }, "TotalRecordCount": 1 } Note you can go to the browser and open each library to see each parentid in the URL as it is the same as id/itemid. Who owns Emby (in general)? How many people work at Emby and what are their roles (in general)? How many people use Emby? What are the most popular Emby apps and platforms? What are the most popular plug-ins? Why does Emby give less attention to Music than it does to Movies/TV Series? Would Emby consider having an official YouTube channel for announcement updates and tutorials?1 point

I'd like to give a notification or pop up on playback to notify users their Emby client is transcoding, especially if they are transcoding 4k as it cripples the server. Whenever I find issues the user is usually completely unaware they are transcoding or causing issues for others as their steam is buffered.1 point

That sounds like something that could be added to the notifications plug-in.1 point
