  1. AndroidTV gives you the OPTION in the client/device configuration. Last logged in user or pick a user. So for shared devices, you pick to show all the users, as you don't know who will next be using it. For single user devices, then you keep it as last logged in user and it will then log you in automatically... It doesn't seem like rocket science to me .. really not sure why this was not inherited years ago on the other apps ...

  2. Just saw this for 4.9.0.25-beta on github: Improve chapter support with multi-version video Is this what I think it is? Wow! Hope it'll come to 4.8.x.x too... Thanks @Luke

  3. Potentially? Let's make a decision; this has been going on a long time. The Standard app video player has inferior quality, so if Emby doesn't make it as good at ATV, well, I'll be complaining Please don't make me abandon Emby. Standard app just doesn't seem to be appropriate for a TV.

  4. Well played fellas. It seems as thought the word Part was breaking the brain of whatever mechanism was searching for the file. The other Masterclass files have that in common as well. Much appreciated. And thanks heaps for the rapid response. Have a great weekend wherever you are in the world

  5. Server was up for about 24 hours, most of that without Emby running. Started Emby, it ran for a good 3-4 hours, and then BSOD. Back to square one. I don't see any exclamation points in the Device Manager. I was pushing the server hard by moving files in and out of the server, and I was pretty hopeful that things were going well. Looks like the EventID 131 is still giving me problems with 6 errors, but volmgr, BugCheck, and EventLog all had one Error in the last hour per the Administrative Events listing. I don't know how to update drivers when CCleaner says all drivers are up to date. Working with ChatGPT to troubleshoot the eventID's and try and resolve one by one.

  6. It's honestly baffling that someone needs help with such a task. Hence the 'vitriol' as you call it. I genuinely can't understand how you could have been on the internet and/or programming since the 70's as you claim; but can't figure out some of the most basic tasks like clicking on the massive green 'create new topic' button at the top of the website, or sending a private message to another user. Just the fact that you couldn't figure those out on your own means you either put in 0 effort to explore the site in the slightest way and expect to have someone hold your hand through even the tiniest detail; or you have such a low cognitive ability that you genuinely shouldn't be operating a computer, let alone any form of web server. (I am being incredibly serious with that statement, despite how harsh that is) Your very first post here was an exasperated question in an 8 month old discussion that already contained the solution to your problem, without paying any attention to that solution; then when reiterated for you, you still struggled to understand incredibly basic instructions claiming to be 'totally lost' and launching into a long irrelevant tirade about your history. Ending with you throwing your hands in the air like a child and asking to have your account deleted. That is where I chimed in because honestly: If the damn shoes fit... All that said, I'm blocking this hopeless [redacted] so I never have to see a post from them again. Best of luck to the rest of you; you'll definitely need it. I'm happy to accept my first temp ban for this comment, should the mods feel I've gone too far. I try to keep it pretty civil, but [redacted] this guy.

  8. Hey there guys, I've proposed this in some thread already, but I think it would be very handy to sort media of artists into different groups, as musicbrainz does for example. For instance, implement the option to enable sorting artist's music into, e.g., "Albums", "Singles", "Live albums", "Compilations", etc. I have no idea if this is quickly done or rather takes a lot of work, but it would be very cool to have imho. Currently, media of bands like AC/DC or Michael Jackson, so artists making music since some decades, have 50+ albums/singles/etc. cluttering the artist view, making it very hard to find a specific item of that artist. If we would have the option to have this sorted out into different groups, it'd make the artist view more cleaned up. Cheers boys and girls! Have a great day (or night) ahead!

  9. I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE

  10. I just want to bring up attention to AV1 as additional target codec for transcoding and comverting video. It's supposed to further reduce bitrates, which can be great in situations with limited bandwidth. Hardware players start to have support, with the Max version of Amazon's 4k FireTV sticks being a very popular and cheap option. Hardware Encoding is coming for sure too. So if/when HEVC gets added for transcoding, AV1 should be kept in mind too. And for conversations, things might actually be already there, since ffmpeg does have a encoder integrated.

  11. Device Locations Plugin for Emby Purpose This plugin improves observability of users accessing your server remotely. All private ipv4 and ipv6 ip addresses are ignored. help understand if users are sharing their accounts with other people additional stats are added to help understand device behavior when are devices active? This can help tune servers during peak activity which areas have the most activity? This may inform content delivery strategies which users authenticate on devices? Installation Download the dll and move it to the plugin directory Restart your server Requirements Register for a free account at https://www.ip2location.io/ to obtain an API key used for enriching location data If you are using a paid account you can remove the attribution in the plugin settings, otherwise, you need to keep the attribution to remain compliant Update the plugin settings with the API key Enriching data There are 2 scheduled tasks that need to run before full results are available. Sync activity data - Runs hourly and syncs Emby activity events to the plugin Enrich location data - Runs daily and enriches geoIP data to the plugin data. You can update settings to configure the max number of requests to ip2location PER run. This is useful if you're testing and/or have a significant number of authentication events (large user base, etc). The ip2location API allows 30k requests / month. TODO: Add ipv4/ipv6 validation when sync'ing Emby data Add caching when enriching data EmbyDeviceLocations.dll

  12. Okok!! So...We now have a pubic source for animated music album art. https://covers.musichoarders.xyz/ This is the link to the place in question I was wondering if we could get it added as a feature? Just for when you're on the page though! Kinda like Apple Music...I've been searching for a self streaming platform similar to what Spotify and Apple Music have...

  13. Hello, is it possible to implement in Emby Quick Connect option like in Jellyfin or other apps for smart tv's? Sometimes it's difficult to put long passwords on some devices. Regards.

  14. Yes there are currently other topics of sessions staying on screen and rebooting is currently the only option to remove them.

  23. It did indeed fix the issue I was having. Thanks @quickmic! Let me know if you want me to do any additional testing. I'm not sure why Emby is considering my content as "remote". It is all on my local network devices with remote access completely disabled (or so i thought).

If so, remote content was affected. The HEAD requests had a bug and its used to verify remote content.

  27. LRCGET seems the best ive found so far for personal use but also perhaps for Emby Project to more officially support. There are more synced lyrics and the lyrics are downloaded next to the media (as .txt or .lrc) which Emby supports (and fits with Emby paradigm of not changing media). They support an api and an offline download of their 16GB sqllite database (a plugin accessing a local file could be very quick). As for the API it says its unthrottled...took approximately 3 hours to download 70000 lyrics. They support crowd sourcing edits.

  28. It appears issue is with those episodes (3, 4, 6, 7) naming, as all 4 of them contain "part x" and no season identifier and/or Season 1 subfolder and likely breaking parser as File stacking (multi-part videos) naming convention used. You should rename those as @jaycedksuggested - as S01EXX - or any other supported naming convention of your preference except the one you're currently using or simply remove those Part 1 and Part 2 parts from the name as episode titles are irrelevant anyway. @Lukethough OP's naming convention used should be supported, it appears breaking on having "part x" in the filename in that scenario:

  29. Try naming them like this Folder : MasterClass - Massimo Bottura Teaches Modern Italian Cooking (2019) [TvdbId=365726] Season folder: Season 01 Files : MasterClass - Massimo Bottura Teaches Modern Italian Cooking (2019) - S01EXX - Episode name.mp4 And see if that helps TV Naming

  30. Yep - for the last 10 years or so, Emby for AndroidTV has always has the ability to display the users as images upon first app load and you simply pick the user you want. Protect the 'adult' accounts with a PIN if you have kid accounts on the same shared device. What's displayed is a server side per user option. For Remote you can hide the users on new devices if you want that. Prior to the security changes, this used the 'in LAN' to just log that user on regardless (with optional PIN, even back then), post the security changes, it behaves exactly the same assuming you have set to remember the password as it's now cached on the device. I think some clients are still missing that option - Not sure why all clients don't have this as I think this would close the 'no password' requests/grumbles once and for all ...

  31. Hi for some unknown reason my emby server stopped working. I host the emby server on a laptop connected by LAN to a router which both my LG tv are also connected with. The error I get is "This emby server needs to be updated" with a reference to a download link. I tried to r reinstall the app on the tv and laptop and both but I'm getting the same result. I also tried to set my private firewall off and then I got a diffrent message: "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. please insure it is running and try again". then I looked over the logs and it seems there is a problem mapping the port, I've also checked my router settings and it seems the port forward for emby server is set correctly. attaching logs and router port forward on my router settings. embyserver.txt

  32. I used your sources.xml and a similar library. Still no issue on my setup, playback is flawless. Also I performed a test on windows, everything fine. Another test with a TV-Shows, also fine. I compared my (working) Kodi log with yours line by line. The only difference, you get timeouts while mine is perfect. At the moment I have no idea what's wrong/different on your setup and I cannot reproduce it. Also no idea why this should only happen on > .25 As mentioned, the next step would be testing with your server. I'm running out of options here on my setup. btw, I review again your emby server log (the .27 part only): 2024-06-07 17:41:36.001 Info Server: http/1.1 Response 200 to host2. Time: 2ms. 33. Well, I think I might have resolved the problem. I'm not sure if it was ultimately Emby or if it was one of my drives overheating and failing and causing the BSOD, but I removed the drive and then tried to fire up Emby again, but it kept crashing the server. I then ran a registry cleaner on it and it found entries for that drive still in the registry (along with a lot of other drives that I had added or removed in the past). After a reboot and a slow approach to bringing on all the plugins and scanning the library, and so far, everything is working well again. Thanks for the quick and overwhelming assistance - you guys rock! Problem resolved - if I run into the BSOD again, I'll be back, but things are holding up now. Thanks again!

  34. Luke, Thank you for the kind words, i think Movies, Docos & TV series episodes there must be about 50,000 of the dam things. Bring on AI computers where i can tell the computer to just convert about 115TB of ISOs to Mp4 or MKV and let it do it. Some ISOs are mp4 HEVC (265) ISOs instead of the old MPEG2 ISOs but that does not matter, players simply won't wait for the entire ISO package to download, then auto mount the ISO package and play it. Most dumb Media Centers when they stream the ISOs the client starts too early and just plays the Video file it finds and the other files get ignored. It is tricky to tell clients its a ISO file so hang on till its fully downloaded. then mount it and play it. client don't like being told what to do by some smart remote server.

  36. Even when the last user was one that require a pin (your adult accounts); you can still switch users. When the app opens and requests a pin; theres a 'switch users' button on that page. Though, I'd still like an option to ALWAYS open to the select users page; to skip that extra step.

  37. @Luke What version should I be looking for once this is installed? I've tried to install the v8a release and with each install attempt it loads fast and I don't get a confirmation of installation complete. My current app version is: 3.3.95 UPDATED I uninstalled all traces of Emby and then ran the APK again. After 2 install attempts, I worked. I then tested on my Xreal glasses paired w/ my S22 Ultra and the video is back!!!! The current app version is: 3.4.04 The keyboard works as the overlay on the phone with the DeX touchpad as well. It's working as it did back in December before the Samsung update. Thank you very much!!

  38. Another way of looking at it is the sooner you start the sooner you finish. Maybe try converting a few to mkv and then see how much you enjoy the broader compatibility with more software. That might motivate you to convert more.

  45. A maybe as going from a 12 core to an old 4 core processor would expect worse performance. But the i3 has quick sync so it could potential provider better transcoding functionality but don't think anyone has posted anything on this old of hardware. Not sure of the limitations on your rental hardware or if HWA can be configure to work as I believe additional drivers have to be installed but don't know if it can be done on these shared systems. Since you are Premiere I would at least test Desktop ET as it could possibly eliminate transcoding or significantly reduce it. Otherwise you will need to only get media in codecs that are supported universally across clients as it will be h264 for several more years. Or converting and maintaining additional copies of media.
