  1. Hi everyone, I am just sharing something that I thought might help some users. I didn't find the solution online so if it already exists, forgive me. TLDR: my phone was on 5G and my laptop on my 2.4G wifi and making my laptop connect on 2.4G resolved (I hope, it's not been too long) the issue. Longer story: I recently had issues connecting from my Android phone to my Emby server (LAN or WAN). I tried many things by myself or via solutions written here by the community. It was very unstable. Another thing, I saw my Wifi disconnecting and reconnecting by times (I still guess I have to talk to my ISP for that...). I tried to connect my profile with my Emby connect, installing a different build, log out log in, checked the TCP ports, etc etc. Then I thought about the Wifi bands. I saw on my router that all my devices were connected on 2.4G but my laptop on the 5G. I saw that on Android, it apparently cannot be specified (except if the networks are separated) but on Windows, I have set it up as "2.4G preferred". Now that they were all connected via 2.4G, it works fine, LAN and WAN. Hope it will help people in the future. Error messages I got: "unable to reach server", "this emby server needs to be updated".

  2. In that case something like a checkbox or radio option that switches between "require all" and "require any" (and maybe, "require none"...?) would be reasonable. But trying to allow people to build "queries" with AND and OR would just be a disaster.

  3. Several threads before we asked for options to be moved to transcoding section, especially 2 fpr gpu control, didn't happen, luke responded that we can use settings in xml file, after a month he disabled those settings in xml aslo. Over a year we are writing about this and being completely ignored.

  4. HI, this is resolved in the next update to the Emby Roku app. Thanks.

  5. I love the additional subfolders for Movie Extras (eg, Shorts, Scenes, Interviews, etc.)! I would like to propose an additional folder: "Galleries". Within the Galleries folder the user would place subfolders (only one level of nesting) and each subfolder could contain any images the user chooses. Then, Emby would display the subfolder name as an Extra (in Emby Theater) and opening that extra would launch an image gallery of the containing images. For example: Movies\Disney\The Sword In The Stone (1963)\Galleries\Scrapbook Movies\Disney\The Sword In The Stone (1963)\Galleries\Film Facts "Scrapbook" is what would be listed among other Extras in Emby Theater, and the Scrapbook folder contains various images to be displayed in a slideshow that the user can navigate with their left/right arrows. This feature request is motivated by the following related post: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55912-video-ts-folder-no-longer-recognized-in-movie-extras-folder/ Basically, sometimes there are extras such as image galleries and text content which are only available via the DVD menu. I have found that I can use FFMPEG to extract all the frames from a video file, and so use that on the appropriate VOB file from the original DVD. Then I can use VisiPics to delete all the duplicates, resulting in content I can then sort into folders (eg, Concept Art, Storyboards, etc.). All I need is for there to be the above support for a Galleries extras folder, which could contain multiple subfolders (only one level deep), each containing images to be displayed as image galleries in Emby Theater, etc. Thanks for your consideration! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.

  6. It would be nice to be able to see which character the actor played in the movies / tv shows view when clicking into an actor. Currently, it only shows the movie / tv show name and year. The data should already be there since when you click into a movie / tv show, the character name already shows under the actor's name.

You have to go to filesystem and navigate to that path it is not a url location. 2024-06-05 16:01:24.076 Info App: Internal metadata path: /config/metadata But yes what I already posted is the image. 2024-06-05 16:01:42.336 Info HttpClient: GET https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/logopedia/images/f/f5/KBAK_CBS_29_LOGO_2.svg 2024-06-05 16:01:42.453 Debug ProviderManager: Saving image to /config/metadata/livetv/2381624067599958fc69a88113a34ac8/metadata/poster.svg

  11. If you went to /config/metadata/livetv/2381624067599958fc69a88113a34ac8/metadata/poster.svg is it the https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/logopedia/images/f/f5/KBAK_CBS_29_LOGO_2.svg? Debug logging would have told us the save location/naming. But to me it appears this system or platform is having an image processing issue but devs will have to look at and confirm.

  14. With the current overlay issue the only way to jump to Series is context menu title link.

  22. Would love to have the ability to provide access to different tuners for different users. Channels Tags is not a optimal solution for me since I have channels already with Tags, which would complicate things a bit more. Wouldn't it be viable to treat a specific tuner as a content of a given library? And have different libraries then to different users, granting access to different Live TV sources?

  23. Same behaviour with Audiobooks - newer version of ET since original post. Ignroing FOLDERS set as landing page in Emby app settings Also odd cover art issue with audiobooks on new screen - see screen shot below. I like there is a GENRES link on the main page. On a MUSIC VIDEOS library though you PUT FOLDERS and I feel you should change that to GENRES like Audiobooks. Another thing that needs changing for the new Audiobooks landin screen is the words "ARTISTS" and "ALBUMS" - simply should be "Authors" and "Books" with Authors as the top tile not the second one down.

  24. Then imho, the implementation of it needs reviewing. A common one asked for is Genre (even my eldest users have queries on why this can't it be done..) I can pick Comedy - I get 441 items, I can pick Drama - I get 740 but if I want to filter by 'Comedy Drama' - I'm outa luck... Which in 2024, is imo a little lacking. But I promised I would not start this conversation on this thread - I'm blaming @GrimReaper..

  28. Or just tag the TV Show "Friends" at the series level and use that..
    1 point
  29. No. I suggest you to create a playlist and use that instead of channel rules. "Friends" alone will search for the exact title across all items. "*Friends*" will search for anything with that word anywhere in the title. No, it will not work. "Include these..." is independent of the other rules.

  30. Yes you can use a custom domain (I use a custom domain through namecheap as well). Just put the pfx cert on the nas in a location Emby can access, and configure it in the Network Tab. You will only be able to use one.. so if you use the synology cert (something like myuser22.synology.me), then your custom domain would be myuser22.synology.me. If you use your namecheap domain, (something like mynamecheapacct303.com), then you would use mynamechapacct303.com. If you use subdomains on that, then you would enter that, but it must be included on your cert (unless it is a wildcard cert) -- ie. emby.mynamechapacct303.com. Required for custom domain: External Domain: mynamecheapdomain.com Custom SSL certificate path: /mnt/somesharedpath/mynamecheapdomaincert.pfx Certificate password: password for the cert if it is protected

  33. Creating something like tags for content is very different than generating a "picker" from a variable list of items with that picker being a piece of data that doesn't currently exist in those items. Its not super duper hard but certainly not simple and it requires changes at both the server and all apps level.

  34. Finally, I received the update available notification... Redid the three movies, and the image extraction succeeded. Brilliant, thanks @Luke Also thanks @sa2000for your help! Now, all that's missing is the GUI changes in server & client, so that these chapters can actually be used/seen when dealing with multi-version video files grouped together... embyserver.txt

  37. Try following these steps - Check metadata format: Make sure metadata is in a format supported by EMBY (ID3v1, ID3v2, APEv2). - Rescan EMBY library: Force EMBY to re-read MP3 metadata. - Adjust EMBY settings: Make sure MP3 metadata settings are set correctly. - Check EMBY logs: Find clues about errors and how to fix them.

Hi, sorry for the late reply - work... I think that I had a not so good attitude in the emby. Under Network I had selected Yes for “Read proxy headers to determine client IP addresses”. Since I selected No there, all files start quickly as usual. If nothing changes now (I hope so), the problem is actually solved!

  44. Everyone, I added viewing channels one channel at a time, improved how programs and bumpers are interleaved, and increased the overall speed of the code. I have only tested the code for a short while, so I may have broken something. @TZTZorohas also improved the GUI and the HTML code. Please let me know about any bugs or improvement suggestions. Vic ==> Well I did break something - I am fixing it now - I will post the code again this afternoon The sort order is not always being followed. I will fix this ASAP The code below is OK and will give everyone a good feel for the GUI. PseudoTV.dll

  45. Yes, here is an example: Press Add Channel Scroll down to Genre in the Rules section and type "Action" Press Preview This Preview works and displays the list of items Scroll up to Channel Content Type and change to MixedContent Press Preview This Preview does not work and the loading spinner spins forever. As an aside, when I do this and then close the Add Channel dialog without pressing save, the channel is still added to my channel list and I have to manually delete it.

  47. The Emby team wanted to say thank you again to everyone that took the time to ask various questions during our Q&A session. Here are a few more answers to questions that a lot of our users were asking about. 1) How is beta functionality success measured? Often times people are curious about the process we use internally here at Emby as we go through the Beta process. We do rely heavily on the forum feedback and beta-tester feedback relating to open issues. It is also important that we take into account the overall experience of the beta release compared to the current stable release, especially when we are making large changes as we did from 4.7 to 4.8. We may be perfectionists at heart but we also understand that we can't spend forever chasing perfection on the release so we do our best to balance stability and functionality throughout the whole process. To reiterate what we shared in previous blog posts, we also understand that a tighter release window with smaller goals allows us to hone in on the stability of the beta and get releases out to the public. It is something that we here at Emby are striving to get to. 2) What is the split of time between actual development and forum duties? We get this question asked often so we thought we would give a little run down on this. Some of our developers such as @Lukeand @ebrand others split their time between development and the forums as things demand. Other developers we have on staff actually do not even engage in the forums at all as to solely focus on the development of Emby moving forward. This allows us to offer quick and prompt customer service and also focus on development at the same time. We thought it was important to answer this one at this point in time, because we do want people to know that there is more to the development team than simply what you see here on the forums. 3) What would help the Emby team the most to improve the overall product from the community? This is another question that gets asked often and it's something that a lot of you are already doing. Keep up the feedback! The more the better! Everything that's posted on these forums is invaluable to us. From pain points, feature requests, how you're using the server, what apps you prefer and anything else that people share with us about how they utilize Emby. Everything that you share is heard and taken into account by the developers. That doesn't always mean that things can get implemented right away or worked on immediately, but the value of your feedback is paramount to our work. We know that it doesn't always seem like it to everyone, but we 100% listen to everything people say and value the thoughts and opinions of our user base! 4) What are some of the biggest obstacles that the Emby team faces throughout development? A lot of the challenges we face throughout development are based on resource allocation from the sheer amount of hardware and software options that Emby runs on. Keeping in mind that Emby runs on everything from an old windows laptop, to Linux distros, NAS, server systems and more, we have to make sure that the program works on all of these systems. Also development of the apps falls under that same category. With so many options for our users to choose from dedicated media players such as Roku, Amazon Fire Sticks, Nvidia Shields, Apple TV Smart TV's, mobile devices such as Android and iOS, there are a lot of different platforms that we need to develop on and do our best to make sure everything is up to the standard that our users expect from Emby.
