  1. Wait - so if I login to an App and do NOT select 'remember me' - it totally ignores this request and still remembers the password until I forcefully logout ? As @darkassassin07says above - this is not normal behaviour as is extremly misleading ... IF there was not an option to 'remember me' - THEN the behavior is expected - and the resposibility is on the user to logout if they wish to keep their account secure - that approach is fine - but don't offer a user decision and then ignore it !

  2. I can scroll through the list of extras and play individual ones, but I'd like a "Play All" button next to the "Extras" section header that will play all of them back to back. Some movies have a separate file for each deleted scene, but I don't want to have to keep scrolling and clicking through the list to play them all (and I don't want to simply merge them all into one file because then I lose the ability to just play a specific one). I also don't want to manually create a bunch of playlists to simulate this.

  3. I do think this post highlights yet again the very confusing 'connect' message you get when trying to initially connect a CLIENT to emby. If it is a local client, on a local LAN then WHY does it not simply broadcast to find it - and ask for a emby LOCAL username and password ? Instead it defaults to 'emby connect' - which if you have just installed your new emby server, you would not have set up yet (or have no plan to set up) ! So you then need to click 'skip' on the client and 'manually' connect to the server using the account you created when setting up the server ... which is what it should have asked for in the first place ...

  5. I am switching over from a Win7 box running MBC to Chromecast dongles. With the Win7 box I had a HDMI to Cat6 setup that allowed me to stream to up to 4 displays/TVs simultaneously. It was great while it lasted, but involved stapling cables to the ceiling to run it from room to room - plus it has borked Can there be an option to multi-cast to several receivers at once? i.e. simultaneously play to Chromecast dongles in my office and living room and kitchen simultaneously so i can walk from room to room without stopping and restarting the movie or show all the time? I realize that bandwidth could POTENTIALLY be an issue, but i have a fill gigabit network and a multi-port NAS so that really is the least of my worries... Thank you!

  6. Hi, I was thinking that it would be great if the original movie title would be shown on the main movie page. below the localized one.

  7. Dear Emby developers, first of all, thank you for this great piece of software. I enjoy it even more than the clients of Amaozon or Netflix despite them having AI suggestions. Emby is a wonderful example of the benefits of open source software! Before I started using emby, I was using my primitive homemade DLNA server. So I can say, the $120 for the lifetime license was totally worth it! Unfortunately, there's only one thing I miss from my old server, and that's sorting by popularity. The TMDB API provides a popularity score for movies and TV shows (see https://developer.themoviedb.org/docs/popularity-and-trending). When requesting the details of movies (https://developer.themoviedb.org/reference/movie-details) or TV shows (https://developer.themoviedb.org/reference/tv-series-details), there is a "popularity" field in the JSON response. It is a number with no meaning of its own, but it is perfect for sorting. Would it therefore be possible to integrate sorting in the clients based on this popularity value? Another interesting thing would be sorting by trends or a trending list, but I think that would be a little more complicated to integrate. Anyway, sorting by popularity would make me very happy for now. Best, lulan

  8. I complain a lot, but truthfully I'm exasperated as I've been asking the Emby devs for audiobook support since October 2017, which is four years before Audiobookshelf ever existed. So when a dev here says "Why do you think it doesn't work well?" that just hits home how they never used it for that before. Making separate feature requests for individual improvements at this stage is like picking what color paint to use on a house with no electrical wiring or plumbing. Sure, it works as a shelter but it doesn't have the necessary amenities. If the person building it never actually uses it enough to notice what's missing, there's no way they can know what people who do use it actually want. Plain and simple, audiobook functionality on Emby is ugly and barebones for a lot of reasons, and it won't improve until the devs actually use it to listen to audiobooks. Meanwhile:

  9. Oh I got it...the show was recognised, but the episode format was wrong so it could not understand which episode I was searching for...I had to change some filenames in ther server and rescanned....and it worked.......still it would be nice if I could somehow just search for the keywords without opening up the server file manager....

  10. Has your show been identified? As query is made by episode/TV Show IMDBId/Hash/filename/season string, not by filename alone.

  11. Hi, found it, it all works as intended now. I was looking only at the subtitle settings of the server and the subtitle settings that appear when playing a movie. My bad, thanks for the help!

  18. The HDHomerun extend may be transcoding the stream, Check your set up on the HDhomerun Transcode Configuration Set it to none. On Emby LiveTV setup uncheck : Allow hardware transcoding (So emby will not tell your HDHomerun Extend to transcode)

  20. It's not so much about which commands to run as it is about setting things up to work better. The main one is you shouldn't be running sabnzbd as root for many reasons. Root can do anything on your server with anything it downloads. The other thing you might want to do is pick a path for the downloads that is not in a user home or software config directory. If you're new to linux then spend some time learning about users (UIDs), groups (GIDs), file and directory ownership and permissions. Skipping this leads to problems down the road. From the sab site: https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/advanced/directory-setup and https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/advanced/unix-permissions You can find good setup guidance for sabnzbd and other things you might be missing here: https://trash-guides.info/Downloaders/SABnzbd/Basic-Setup/

  21. Thanks for the response! Hilariously I actually got the Arc as I was having issues without it and thought it might help! Same issues without it unfortunately. I will get some users to try different quality settings to see if it make a difference. What is odd is, the issues persisted on different clients, say browser vs emby ios/android or emby windows.

  22. Welp. I genuinely don't know what happened, but video playback is working just as it was, say, a week before my OP. We haven't used Emby on this set up since last Thursday and have just left everything alone since Saturday. Any content watching on this Roku has been via Jellyfin, and I'd continued using Emby regularly on browsers and my phone. Today just on muscle memory I opened up emby and played the first thing I saw and it rolled right on through. Wish I had a reason but I'm coming up blank. I maybe reset the server hardware and docker once? But it'd have been no different than when I tried last week in the OP. Haven't touched any cabling since @speechlessuggestion on Saturday. Regardless, I'm happy to have Emby back on my Roku!

  23. Not the slowness. At least usually. It seems if it's scanning it hogs all resources. But still sometimes it loads everything but the next up and continue watching. Or those come eventually but it takes ages. Im known 4.9.0.16 so not sure if that changed anything. Crashing seems to happen I am guessing because of the scanning as it doesnt do it otherwise.

  26. I ran ccextractor on one of the TVE files, and it pulled the whole things (compared to the 6-7 minutes by comskip). So, it looks like I'll be able to use this as a workaround until the problem is resolved. I don't know if this is useful, but here is the NFO file that ccextractor emitted: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <episodedetails> <plot /> <outline /> <lockdata>false</lockdata> <dateadded>2024-04-27 03:59:59</dateadded> <title>pimple</title> <sorttitle>pimple</sorttitle> <runtime>60</runtime> <season>7</season> <fileinfo> <streamdetails> <audio> <codec>aac</codec> <micodec>aac</micodec> <bitrate>128018</bitrate> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <channels>2</channels> <samplingrate>48000</samplingrate> <default>False</default> <forced>False</forced> </audio> <video> <codec>h264</codec> <micodec>h264</micodec> <bitrate>5210757</bitrate> <width>1920</width> <height>1080</height> <aspect>16:9</aspect> <aspectratio>16:9</aspectratio> <framerate>29.97003</framerate> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <default>False</default> <forced>False</forced> <duration>59</duration> <durationinseconds>3599</durationinseconds> </video> <subtitle> <codec>eia_608</codec> <micodec>eia_608</micodec> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <default>True</default> <forced>False</forced> </subtitle> </streamdetails> </fileinfo> </episodedetails>

  27. Emby changed recently. When you clicked an actor's name, it used to show Movies and TV shows and episodes as distinct rails/lines. The recent change means Movies & TV Shows are shown under one rail as "Movies & Shows". I prefer the tv is separate to Movies as they are NOT the same. I may be interested in just exploring TV Shows for an actor. If the combined view on the rail is to be the way, then at least if you click/select "Movies & Shows" it should open a new page where the content is separated into differing views one for Moves, one for TV Shows and one for Episodes. Combing Movies and Shows in one rail stinks of Apple TV app. They are separate things and should not be combined in my view.

  28. Yes the combine view should be separated making each category/type clickable.

  29. Hmm Main10@L4 should certainly not have issues - that is the lowest basic profile you can use for 1080p. Both FireTV and AndroidTV use the same Exoplayer - I think AndroidTV may be slightly ahead, but as this is such a basic profile, it really should not make any difference. What's the Audio ? Maybe that has a factor in this.

  37. From reading the wiki and now looking at the debug log...I think albums could be better supported. Eg "Play album Heroes by David Bowie", skill currently searches for itemtype Audio rather than Album. 2024-01-02 15:58:26.066 Debug Server: http/1.1 GET https://‌XXX.XXX.XXX:8920/emby/Users/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/Items?SortBy=Album%2CParentIndexNumber%2CIndexNumber&IncludeItemTypes=Audio&Recursive=true&Artists=David%20bowie&Albums=heroes. UserAgent: node-fetch Emby plays songs where "Heroes" in Album string string and the track has David Bowie in Artist..(which isnt what i asked for) ... to spell it out when someone is giving this command i think they are asking for Albums with "Heroes" in the title and David Bowie in Albumartist where a closer match would appear first eg "Heroes" (Levenshtein distance 2?) would be a better match than "Never meet your heroes" (Levenshtein distance 16? - if such an album existed). IncludeItemsTypes=Album seems to yield the right result according to swagger....in that the album object is returned....?the skill might need an extra function to expand the members of a returned [album] object.?

  38. Here is the next round of answers from our Emby Q&A session. The feedback from our previous blog post was exciting to see from all of you, and we are excited to share even more answers. The next round of questions and answers will be released next week as well! 1) What are some of the future goals of Emby? Emby wants to continue to grow and be the best media server option available for our users. We hope to move to a quicker release schedule than in previous iterations that is both more efficient from a development standpoint and exciting for our users. We love what we do here at Emby and we want our users and potential users to see that! 2) Would the Emby team ever consider moniterary "bounties" to help offset the development cost. We have actually seen this question a lot lately. We do not believe that this is the best way to decide what goes into development for a few reasons. First and foremost, we do not want people who have more money than others to decide what goes into production while others who may not be able to afford to donate or contribute go unheard. 3) How does the Emby team decide on what's next for Emby? The answer to this is deeper than most people probably think. Feature requests is one place that we look at to form our roadmap of future goals. Sometimes it's as simple as user feedback that something is not working as intended or could be implemented in an easier way to use etc. Other times our development staff has ideas based on industry trends as well as their own experience that they believe should be implemented. We take all of that and as a team decide what should be added and when. 4) In what areas can Emby improve? We as a team are always seeking to improve. We fully acknowledge that as a small company we are sometimes stretched "thin" but we do our best to always be both proactive and reactive with all of you. As mentioned above we hope to move to a quicker release schedule with a more agile methodology that allows us do so. We think we do a pretty great job at communication with everyone here on the forums, but we continue to strive to be even better here as well. Being able to give more flushed out answers and as much information as we can. Our goal is to always continue improving. View the full article

  39. Can we get a metadata field for trailers so we can edit or add the url for the trailer? Quite a few tv items don't seem to get any trailers added so I would like to be able to manually add these

  40. It would be nice if Emby could keep track of every time I've watched a movie or TV show episode rather than only that last time I watched.

  41. Hey All, So after some time, it seems to be running stable in my environment, so here it is... This has been a bit of a battle with compatibility and time, but hope all is good. Please log any issue you may find on the repo. (https://github.com/ShanePe/Emby.SmartPlaylist.Plugin/issues) So to recap, main issue is that Emby front end has changed to not support additional files and they way .js are loaded and additional new backend libs to integrate. I did see an odd toast pop up when saving a playlist but have not been able to replicate. NOTE: I did notice on firefox that I had to manually refresh the page sometimes if it doesn't load, trying to get to the bottom of this. This is NOT backward compatible and built/tested on version Emby 4.8.10. SmartPlaylist-2.5.0.4810.zip

  42. Update: Hey all, just thought I would put out a little update, there was quite a major change to the way v4.8 Emby frontend handles loading scripts and the like, so after much frustration (and help from @Luke) I can proudly say that I have the backend and frontend working with Emby 4.8. I have noticed one or two small issues I still need to address and would like to do some more testing to make sure all is well, don’t wanna break everyone’s stuff. I’ll drop a new version in the coming days if all goes well.

  45. Please can we get Auto Organize to copy external subtitle files along with video files. The easiest solution is to just copy any files that are identically named as the video files and apply the same renaming logic to them.

  46. Hi. No, we've always tried to choose a trailer that somehow is relevant to the main movie you are watching. This hasn't changed.
