  1. v1.7.9 no longer transcodes FLAC audio for me and plays smoothly. Thanks @SamES

  2. Agree - the primary purpose of the Plugin (as it's name suggests) is to actually modify the MKV and auto-name it with the proper media info. In order to do this, it does need the external tools, mediainfo itself to identify (because ffmpeg cannot do it) and mkvtoolnix to write the mkv files (emby cannot do this either). I've been adding tag functionality as a bonus - but it's a fair point that this plugin is not required to do this - any normal plugin without the extra files can do this just fine. Any tags are not written to the MKV anyway, they are only written to the emby db. I may remove some of the tag parts and make it a stand alone Plugin instead (with all the non mediainfo tag stuff).

  3. Please try to add country of origin to movie info as that could give us a quick hint about the cultural background of the movie Thanks alot

  4. Hey guys, I would love to have the option to add music to several playlists. For example: currently if I want to add "Bad Company's Seagull" to playlists that I have setup I have to do them individually, repeating the process for each playlist that I want to add that song to. I have many playlists and I'd like to have the option to check a song or songs then select all the playlists to add that song to at one time...

  5. Yes it has solved the shuffle issue on both my Android Emby App and my Google TV Chromecast. Thank you.

  6. I have a fairly large movie collection (5k+) starting with films from the 1920's and in the absence of "smart" playlists how about a filter by decade option? Filtering by year works, but if I want to watch something from say the 1950's I have to start navigating from the 1930's and work my up to the 1950's which is quite a few number of pages. Another option might be to have Years running vertically much like the alphabet when viewing by title.

  8. Looks like a pain quering /series/{id}/extended to get seasonids then quering /seasons/{id}/translations/{language} to get overview. So lots of additional queries to get this additional info as it is not available via /series/{id}/episodes/{season-type}/{lang} Not sure how Season Images are gotten but that means the seasonid is actually known though.

  9. i ment that there is no overlap i meanwhile found the problem for the series-library, may i should have set up that server from the beginning on my own, would be much easier that finding errors. the library was created for movies, not for series. i deleted it, created a new one and now it works like a charm. so there is just the error shown in the logs the last thing System.IO.IOException: System.IO.IOException: The configured user limit (8192) on the number of inotify watches has been reached, or the operating system failed to allocate a required resource. is there a limit to change/remove somewhere od something to be done on sysnology os to get rid of this error ?

  10. SOLVED - I was still using the Emby for Android TV app, once I switched to the Emby for Android app, all playback problems for Live TV went away.

  11. Thanks Luke. You were correct, the reverse proxy host address was pointing to the wrong certificate so I fixed that. However, on the TV app, when you add the new server it still contines to circle. Upon switch off and switch on, the app now enters and I can the contents. So, something is still strange with the way the app behaves, but at least for me it now works. Thanks

  12. There is no additional CPU load as long you don't setup transcoding. Yes, it's direct play.

  13. I'd assume you know how the process goes. How to Report a Problem Provide log from the time of occurrence, when you added new content and expected RTM to pick it up, Dev will likely comment or some fellow user encountering same issue might offer some insight.

  15. I have located the javascript responsible for gamepad input and a working quick fix is to simply rename it so it cannot be executed. <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" async="" src="modules/input/gamepadtokey.js?v=4.8.1.0"></script> On your server locate the emby server installation and rename the file On my system(linux obviously) i found it here and simply used mv to rename it: /opt/emby-server/system/dashboard-ui/modules/input # mv gamepadtokey.js gamepadtokey.bak Restart your server and restart your browser maybe clear cache of your browser too. All inputs from your joystick should be ignored from now on. Remember the steps because your next update will most likely install a new copy of the script. Maybe this helps the devs to implement an off-switch for us which simply disables this script.

  16. v3.0.0 released If you are running an RC build, please upgrade to the final release. Thanks @Dickydodah!for the testing support. An interesting little rewrite project over the last few weeks. If I did everything right, hopefully it's at least 4 more years before I need to work on this again!

  17. My wife and I both use Emby and have our own accounts. Works great when syncing to our own individual Trakt accounts. But we have a shared profile on Emby for shows we both watch, and I'd like to be able to sync those shows to both of our Trakt accounts. I tried doing this by finding the Trakt plugin's git repo and making some changes, hoping I'd make a pull request and go from there. Halfway done and I've realized the versions are different and I've been modifying the old source from before Emby was made premiere... I'd be happy to contribute this myself through the proper channels if it comes to that (11 years currently as a professional software engineer). My idea was to just map the Trakt settings for the "US" profile onto the individual profiles, so for every watch, it would iterate through the mapped users and then post the status update to trakt via their own credentials. Does this sound like it might be a good idea? I can see many people in the same situation as this. Thanks!

  23. @Vicpa Yeah, I think we are basically in agreement here I tend to associate Genre with the individual Artist/Song concerned because it is the artist's interpretation of the Song/Composition (irrespective of the original Composer) that creates the Genre/Style of the music. It's only really when the Genre rolls up and combines fields at a higher level that anomalies start to occur. The new music Genre pages are great - but need some filters, at least with "Artists". My personal preference would be to just show Album Artists within the current "Artists" section, but others would likely filter differently for themselves. John Lennon is a great example. I think most would regard him as mainly a Rock/Pop Artist , but his widely performed music could be classified as Rock, Pop, Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Metal, Hip-Hop... almost anything, you name it, depending upon the type of music you listen to. Only Emby can answer "design" or "bug". Either way, some clarity would be nice... BTW - I happened to find a few Ludwigs in my music library, not sure just yet how they got there though!!!

  24. That is fine. You do not have to go out of your way. Knowing that it fails on your HDMI chain is enough to see that the Roku may not understand it still has control of the input source. We may have to include a setting to disable the "Active HDMI" so that users like yourself who have issues with it don't have to use it. That might be the best way to handle this. No other users have reported issues with this yet. But maybe the flood of users is coming? In any case it isn't supposed to happen. But sometimes for these weird edge cases we might need a setting. Please stay tuned and we will have something soon. Apologies this is even an issue. It should be resolved very soon.

  27. My reasoning was if the mediastream count == 0 then it has not been scanned yet but as you have pointed out if there are other local items in the path these are probably being picked up as streams and it will be > 0 but still not be scanned. there was probably a reason at the time but I dont remember.

  28. If I add [] or some special character I can put text without the system identifying it as something, for example the name of the actress and the day and month, things that the system does not interpret, at least not yet.

  32. That's crazy - how did you sense that? Right in this moment, I have commited the changes for new RC support and pushed them out for generating a new test build. This is for the new general Windows app, though, which is getting into beta shortly. The WMC UI version will come a little later.

  33. Lets all be honest here - the replacement implementation of 'missing episodes' has been poorly though out. If you don't know that an episode is missing, then why would you select the function to find out ? That is, afterall, it's primary function, to NOTIFY you the episode is missing .. The only useful function this new 'feature' provides, is if you have an suspicion there may be an epsiode missing ('where is the finale ? etc) then you can use the function to confirm. As an option, I don't get why any missing episodes cannot be queried 'live' if required. A little logic on the back end as part of the scheduled scan can eliminate the completed shows, so you would just need to query current shows .. I get there was a technical reason for doing this - but removing a core feature and not replacing it with a suitable alternative has been a backwards step.

  34. This is a bad change. Having the missing episodes in the UI made life easy. This "new" change is bad. its so bad I had to google to find this thread to even figure out where in the world to find missing episodes which is a feature that has worked for years. Why make such a horrible change and then hide the feature where nobody would think to look? Watching TV should not involve frustration.

  35. Then it sounds like you want to set the public facing https port in emby server network settings to 443.

  36. An interesting discussion thread. I'll admit, I'm with the crowd here - I don't want to have to Be An Admin for one more thing, I want to just fire and forget. Seeing missing episodes in context of a show or season was useful to let me passively know that I'm missing an episode. Without it, I'm not sure if the season is continuing (I'm on S02E07, is there one more episode coming or is it 12 episodes?) and also it's easy to just press play on the next and skip a missing episode without this being shown clearly in the regular UI (if E04 is missing, it might be E07 before I get so confused by the plot that I realise something hasn't worked out). Allowing this as a user option should be extremely good, as it used to be, or at least toggling it on and off via the context menu at the user's discretion would be something at least. Having to proactively take several additional steps just to see if I'm even missing anything in the first place is an activity that I don't have time or energy for. I'm not providing this as a commercial service for hundreds of users. I'm just a guy who likes to watch stuff with the family.

  37. Dev team please don't kill the best features that Emby have, and this is one of the reasons I have payed for using Emby, because you guys added cool features as Upcoming and Missing episodes in the library/season and I love the IMDB showing up for Movies and TV Shows, plus other good features, and good codecs. However, if these missing upcoming feature will go aways, I believe users will go away too.

  38. We want all the old features rolled back because they made much more sense than the new user experience changes. This is 100% certain!

  41. @quickmic Thanks a lot. Well, I will use native mode as long as possible Emby server is simply not necessary for playback and will always have limitations compared to kodi/smb. I find this a shame, to my understanding even emby-apps use network paths when considered possible. Why stream through emby-server if the client does no need it? Which is one of the coolest features ever If I can support you in any way, let me know. I am not a coder but have experience in testing. Just in case this is your main concern regarding native mode. I am sure others also appreciate native mode. The great thing about it is that you can have super fast and stable playback for just about any content, without emby-server in the middle, but still make use of the actual purpose of emby-server - the library. It is a matter of principle - use each tool for what it does best. Do not limit a great player like kodi by putting a library server in the middle Ok, sorry for my many comments... I will let it be now and hope for the best Thanks a lot for your efforts - CHEERS

  42. Yes, in addon mode you don't need to configure network paths. It uses http queries (like any other "internet" video). By this approach the plugin can play everything the Emby server is capable to play. Unfortunately, Emby server has limitations for ISO and BDMV content. The plugin detects the content while init sync and automatically falls back to native mode for THIS sort of content even if you selected addon mode. (Not falling back "globally" to native mode). A correct network path (smb/nfs) on Emby server config is only necessary for native mode/content. Addon mode doesn't use it. I said/meant most plugins (not next-gen) in addon-mode (actually they have no native mode) uses 2 queries to initiate the http video feed. One to get info how to play and second initiate the video feed. In native mode the playback (and only the playback) is completely independent from Emby server. I always recommend using addon mode, it's uch better tested and has just some minor limitations e.g. edl files. I would be so happy removing the native mode completely, it you reduce the testing by factor two. Anyway, as long as Emby server has limitations I'll not remove it.

  43. That's actually an even better idea, and much more achievable too. I've just gone and made up a script myself to catch the played events with webhooks and am then caling the api to mark played for those individual profiles. Works great. Even makes it easy when my wife drops off a show, I move it to my profile and it's already marked as watched for the episodes we've watched together. Thanks!
