  3. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  4. Guys, The ebook side of Emby/MediaBrowser has been long stalled or rather stagnated. I would like to offer up a couple of suggestions. Many people use calibre as an ebook/comic book tool for scraping data and general management of their collection already. This program is absolutely astonishing in its ability to pull metadata from post calibre scans, as well as draw in metadata from the file source and/or directory structure. http://vaemendis.net/ubooquity/ Its a self contained .jar server/reader combination. And honestly I am very impressed by it's small footprint and wide range of abilities. The other option is COPS , which was written specifically with calibre in mind. It is open source, so making it work with emby I would think would be fairly easy. https://blog.slucas.fr/projects/calibre-opds-php-server/ Ever since the original release of MediaBrowser's bookshelf I have always wanted something that would allow me to 'read' my collection, rather than being basically nothing more than a place-set for images of books I own. I am sure that those who mainly have audiobooks are thrilled with bookshelf , but it's nothing more than an extension of the music library IMHO, not new features. We can have both right? Here I give you two suggestions free of charge.. Just because I love you, and Emby Personally I plan on running the Ubooquity Server along side of Emby from now on, just because of it's massive functionality and tiny footprint. But I sure hope that someone decides -- "yeah, ebook support should be in here too" and do something about it - rather than allow this now very very ancient issue to continue to remain an issue. And so I don't have to have 20 different ports open, some with SSL support - some not, because Emby isn't delivering the 'complete package'. (Please take some of this with humor, I know you have your hands full with improvements/bugs/suggestions/requests)

  5. I know this is easier said than done, but could the Apple TV app for Emby get updated so it’s like the Emby app on the Fire Stick. It's specifically lacking the option to see when the movie will end while you’re playing the movie. You also can’t see the cast of the movie while playing the movie like you can with the Fire Stick. There are other options missing but those are the most important two that I think would be very beneficial.

  6. The Pseudo TV plugin is composed of two parts. The first part is based on a TV Tuner Platform created by @Luke. He called the plugin "VirtualTvExample." The second part is a Javascript program that provides a simple GUI for creating and adding channels to the TV Tuner. The code for both parts is attached below. I created the javascript code and several C# additions to the tuner. @TZTZorocomposed the CSS code. PseudoTV is open source and free for everyone to use. PseudoTv is tested on Chrome and Edge. Other browsers may work. I just don't know. To install PseudoTV, copy the plugin dll below to the EMBY plugin directory and RESTART EMBY. Follow the instructions below to bring up PseudoTV. Next add the TV Source for PseudoTV. If you have an Old PseudoTV Tuner installed, you must delete the old tuner before installing a new one. Select the PseudoTV Tuner to bring up the Channel Management menu. Use this menu to Add channels to the Emby EPG (Electronic Programming Guide). Click the Add Channel button to add a new channel. The two videos below, explain basic channel building. Querry-1.m4v The next video is also about channel building, but instead of using an Emby query, media is selected directly from the Emby libraries. File-1.m4v The remaining videos introduce the PseudoTV tool. The first is called the Library Explorer. With it you can navigate across your Emby libraries and view their contents. Libraryexplorer-1.m4v This video explains the Metadata Editor. Metadataeditor-1.m4v Another useful tool is the Playlist Editor. Playlisteditor1-1.m4v The description of the Playlist Editor is continued below. Playlisteditor2-1.m4v The latest plugin (dll) and the source code (zip file) are attached below: PseudoTV.dll PseudoTV.zip

  7. It’s because open subtitles have changed it so you can only download subtitles 5 times over a 24 hour period. If you then try and download over this it’ll throw an error.

  8. Hey there, I know this is a bit more than just a simple feature request, but i would like to pitch here the idea of an "Emby Theater OS". Basically a ready made img for Raspberry Pi (and other SBC) and an .iso for USB-Stick, that loads/installs a dedicated Operating System just for the cause of opening the Emby Theater App and interacting with the kernel on low level base. So that you just have to load/install it and a default installation of it can be immediatly used on TV after logging in. Reasoning is: I've set up a client-box for my grand-parents. And in the course of trying out different methods to serve the emby-content i found that all of those solutions are not really perfect. Using Kodi is stable on the one hand, on the other hand you basically lose _ALL_ individual options you've set up the emby-server with and have to configure Kodi very individually and keep it up to date all the time. Also troubleshooting Kodi-problems is hard when oneself does not use Kodi. This solution would make more headaches that it would prevent. Those proprietary clients like Amazon Fire Stick with an app are also not really a solution. I've had more than once the occurence that family-members subbed to an amazon-premium-channel or bought a movie out of mistake because those interfaces are exactly made in such a way that it lures people to click on things they don't understand and i really don't want to constantly micromanage this. And it creates costs. I've also tried to set up a dedicated Fedora for this purpose on a little Chromebox. It starts Emby Theater Linux in Autostart and this works fine but there are quirks. My grandparents manage somehow to minimize the client or bring up the gnome-overview which leads to input from the remote not working anymore. Also i often run into problems with returning to the main-screen of the Theater-App. It is basically stuck in the overview of a media item. Only closing and opening the whole Theater App again works. Also the energy- & update-management of standard Desktop-Linux-Systems is not really tuned for such a usage and it would be really nice to have something that works more robust in such an environment without resorting to Standard Workstation Gnome or KDE or such. I found KDE Plasma Bigscreen which is basically a KDE for TVs that can load different apps in fullscreen and has a "settings"-app tuned for fullscreen and screensaver-options and so on. This would be a nice base i would think for such a project. It is out for some time but no one seems to utilize it or make something with it unfortunately. https://plasma-bigscreen.org/de/

  10. Kira, I believe the subtitle remember each user's choice and shows that choice the next time the user comes back to the media. Also, there should be some subtitle choices in the dashboard setup. If you happen to want the opposite to always show a subtitle, just name the subtitle file with [Exact filename of media].en.default.srt. Also depends on where the subtitles are located: Burned onto the video. (There is no option to change this.) Embedded into the video file. - I believe there are some dashboard settings to adjust what happens. Sorry, I never bothered to use this type of subtitle. Plugin downloads subtitles automatically. - Check the dashboard and plug in settings. This only works with a premium membership. Hope that helps.

  11. I also came here to express the same sentiment. I recently added a TV to a spare room, and to avoid buying an Apple TV I just installed Emby from the LG Store. I couldn't believe how much better the app is on the cheap TV, vs. the app for the very popular Apple TV. I couldn't believe how much better the interface was, the available backdrop features, layouts, color themes, etc... After seeing that, the Apple TV app is now garbage to me. LOL I know @Lukesaid they are working on it, but... I can't imagine we could get a little hint?

  12. Check your server dashboard when the client connects or has an item playing. The IP will be displayed.

  13. You can't reinstall it as it's not maintained and so no more compatible with current versions of Emby and Jellyfin. Only solution is that developer of it updates it

  14. I can track all these. That way you know these are on our radar. This is on our issue tracker as #1559. The Roku app needs to match exactly what the web app is doing in regards to defaults with landing screens. We will make sure this is done on the Roku side. You can use these issue numbers in regards to Roku issues and we will know exactly what you mean. This is on our tracker as #1520. I experience the same problem with automatic episodic playback of TV series. Also have the issue with playlists just as you describe. I also cannot pinpoint the exact cause. But we do have something coming soon that will fix the problem. Once again apologies this is even a problem. But we can work around this just give us a little time. This might be related to how the Roku requests the playlist from the server. We might need to make adjustments to that area. I just put this on our issue tracker as #1598. We will figure out why this happens. Caused by the limitations of the SQL query RANDOM. There must be a way with seeding a random value in some way based off something. But since this is all conjecture there may not be. The best we could do is take the result and then shuffle it a couple times on the Roku. But think of it like cards. There are some you will never see since the best we can do is shuffle the few cards you might see. The others act as if they are never used in the deck. You are exactly correct. Something needs to be done in this area to produce a better random. Not really a Roku issue since it spans every platform which is why this isn't on the Roku tracker as an issue even though it is a glaring issue. Hope you understand. I believe you do. The server has much better logic to determine when to cut off rogue streams. The Emby Roku app also has better intelligence at determining when the playback is no longer being consumed by the user and can self terminate streams in progress. I am glad our fixes our actually working for users that have the issue. Thanks for reporting back. Thanks for the detailed issue report. We will work on getting these resolved and report back to this thread. If you see any other issues do not be afraid to mention them. Thank you again.

  15. Any updates on this? It's been over a year

  16. Glad to see that I really hope that the new version allows continous play like it used to, the sideloaded apps also stopped after the season too so still stuck unless I uninstall the shield app and try and find an old version. You guys have been great with 99% of things and that is 90% better than the other options so glad I bought the lifetime for this so many years ago.

  20. Hi. Can you make playback speed obey the same logic? Switching to 1.25x every time is a little annoying...

  21. Hi, no, we think there's a better way than this. Thanks for the suggestion though.

  23. Luke, I appreciate what you guys do and I pay to fee for Emby Premiere servie to give back but often times I see reported issues recieve the "We'll take a look at it" response and that's where it ends. Again, I understand this free to the public but there are issue that we'd appreciate updates on. Or if the issues or request are unable to be addressed or doesn't fit the direction of Emby you would understand if that's the feedback we recieved. Thanks in advance and Thanks for what you provide.

  24. Hi, yes hopefully we'll be able to do this in the not too distant future. Thanks

  25. You might not have any issue with it, but the other people watching things on my server don't know what collections are, or whether they should go look for collections—but only for specific series—rather than just going into the library titled "anime" when they want to watch an anime. Not that collections actually solve the problem either. You STILL can't have everything in the correct order, and have Emby take you to that collection from a TV Show library. In order to have everything in the correct order, you have to add individual seasons to a collection. In order for the shows listing in the library to take you to that collection, you have to add the entire show as a collection, which then just dumps the listing for the show as a whole in the library, meaning that you can't correctly order anything, somewhat defeating the point. This applies even when the minimum number for collections in that library is set to 1, too. And yeah, it's not as if a significant portion of Emby's user base watches anime in 2024 or anything, right? It's practically niche! Frankly, the only reason I haven't switched to another media server at this point is because Emby has clients for just about every platform. As of late, I've had a pretty terrible experience with Emby in general. And just about every question/problem/suggestion that I have is met with non-solutions and snarky comments.

  26. A ) Read what I actually wrote, that was not the issue B ) I doubt it. C ) At no point did I suggest that they should "magically create" some mind-reading plugin. I'm asking for the ability to create arbitrary, manual overrides to listings/watch orders. But thanks for the patronizing tone, I guess?
