I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE1 point

Hi, usually a good portion of my video collection is in Dolby Vision, so I really need emby for ios to support Dolby Vision. As far as I know, the Android version of emby is able to play the Dolby Vision version of movies properly, and I have emby installed on my own Android TV, and it plays Dolby Vision in the correct color, but on my iPad Pro, it doesn't play correctly, and the video is greenish or purple in color. I considered if this was a device issue, but I found that infuse for ipad plays the same Dolby Vision version video perfectly on my iPad Pro (emby for ipad does not). Since it is a software problem, and since the Android version supports Dolby Vision, why is the ios version not supported, not to mention that the ios version requires customers to pay to unlock the playback function, shouldn't users enjoy the same treatment after spending money? Please support Dolby Vision on iOS platform as soon as possible,I’ll appreciate it!!!!!1 point

As I mention in a related post, I love the additional subfolders for Movie Extras (eg, Shorts, Scenes, Interviews, etc.)! It would be awesome to extend this functionality to TV Series as well. Specifically to add support for many/all of the same folders supported for Movie Extras, eg, extras specials shorts scenes featurettes behind the scenes deleted scenes interviews trailers As well as any additional folders that get added in the future (eg, hopefully Galleries). Support Placement of "Extras" Folders Within Each Season Folder, Plus A Naming Scheme to Link A Particular Extras Folder with a Specific Episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes): I want to clarify that it would be great if these various "extras" folder types could reside within each Season folder. So for example, within a Season 1 folder we could then have an "Extras" folder, a "Deleted Scenes" folder, a "Featurettes" folder, etc. And furthermore, that we could designate a particular folder to refer to a specific episode (eg, "\Season 1\E1 - Deleted Scenes\" for episode 1 deleted scenes). See more below, particularly why I think this would be so useful: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55915-emby-server-theater-additional-extrasspecial-folder-types-for-tv-series-similar-to-movies/&do=findComment&comment=587195 Thanks for your consideration! PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.1 point

Hi, Luke. I just ran an experiment on a test HEIC and Emby actually did seem to read the keywords no problem. I had processed a couple hundred HEIC photos last time and the keywords did not appear, but I didn't really go down the rabbit hole to find out why. So, now I'm wondering if something odd happened during tagging. For now, can you confirm that Emby should be reading the metadata from HEIC files? If so, then the problem is probably on my end. I will reprocess the photos and report back here when done.1 point

Folder view you have a Chess folder but each sub folder is its own Show listing episodes as Season 1 or 2. So the example above actually created 3 separate Shows/Series from a TV standpoint. To a point you are better off putting in Home Video and Photo content type library. Otherwise you will have some renaming to do to make it work as TV.1 point

I have paid emby prime to be able to use webhooks but no option to configure appears, I have updated the plugin, restarted the server, updated the server, I have done everything but nowhere can I configure or see the webhooks section, when I go to the webhooks section says: Webhooks are now part of Notifications. To get started configuring Webhooks, visit the Notifications section." but I don't see any notifications section, I have already paid for a month of prime but I can't use the webhook because the option to configure doesn't appear anywhere. Could someone help me? Now I don't know what to do to make it work.1 point

Thank you for the response. Let me ask my parents 's I don't have the issue my family does and get back to you.1 point

No need to chmod the devices in that path. The official Emby Docker image has a GIDLIST available to give the runtime user access to the graphics devices. It's documented on the Docker Hub page for Emby. For the LSIO image you make sure the runtime user (PUID) has the video (and render if exists) supplementary groups.1 point

I hope to finish "quick start" this weekend. Then you will be able to build the Emby EPG from the "quick start" menu. I plan to use this GUI to build "pre built" channels for users to use. Vic1 point

If SFTP cannot transfer the file and it essentially hangs - then something is badly wrong and I suspect it is hitting exactly the same issues as your original problem. I would go back to the real basics - put two basic windows machines on the same network switch path - and try again using smb/sftp etc - watch the transfer in perfmon - if it's consistent, then you know the issue is something in Proxmox etc. If you recreate the issue again using Windows - then it's 100% the switches. If it is the switches, the run in isolation - ie own vlan etc as something like a broadcast storm could be happening and taking out your entire network. Just a process of elimination I'm afraid.1 point

HI, I don't think we've ever supported this, but it's possible for future updates. Thanks.1 point

I can track all these. That way you know these are on our radar. This is on our issue tracker as #1559. The Roku app needs to match exactly what the web app is doing in regards to defaults with landing screens. We will make sure this is done on the Roku side. You can use these issue numbers in regards to Roku issues and we will know exactly what you mean. This is on our tracker as #1520. I experience the same problem with automatic episodic playback of TV series. Also have the issue with playlists just as you describe. I also cannot pinpoint the exact cause. But we do have something coming soon that will fix the problem. Once again apologies this is even a problem. But we can work around this just give us a little time. This might be related to how the Roku requests the playlist from the server. We might need to make adjustments to that area. I just put this on our issue tracker as #1598. We will figure out why this happens. Caused by the limitations of the SQL query RANDOM. There must be a way with seeding a random value in some way based off something. But since this is all conjecture there may not be. The best we could do is take the result and then shuffle it a couple times on the Roku. But think of it like cards. There are some you will never see since the best we can do is shuffle the few cards you might see. The others act as if they are never used in the deck. You are exactly correct. Something needs to be done in this area to produce a better random. Not really a Roku issue since it spans every platform which is why this isn't on the Roku tracker as an issue even though it is a glaring issue. Hope you understand. I believe you do. The server has much better logic to determine when to cut off rogue streams. The Emby Roku app also has better intelligence at determining when the playback is no longer being consumed by the user and can self terminate streams in progress. I am glad our fixes our actually working for users that have the issue. Thanks for reporting back. Thanks for the detailed issue report. We will work on getting these resolved and report back to this thread. If you see any other issues do not be afraid to mention them. Thank you again.1 point

In TVnext, there's a detailed modeling of tuners - which can be hardware tuners or M3U sources. For hardware tuners it knows how many streams (muxes) are available. For M3U sources, you must enter the number of simultaneous streams are supported (or guaranteed to be available and not used elsewhere). This way, the engine is always aware which tuner streams are available and which are in use, so there is no trial=>error=>fallback mechanism needed. The same channels from different tuners can be merged into a single channel, for which you can configure how many streams of each tuner may be used for that channel, plus the order of their allocation. On top of that, tuners can require a certain permission level, which means that when the allocation order is TunerA_1, TunerA_2, TunerB_1, TunerB_2 and a user has only permission for tuner B, for that user, tuner B will be used, even when tuner A would have free resources. It's also possible to split a channel in a way that for example, one is using TunerA_1 and the other one is using TunerA_2 only. Then you could for example keep one of the channels hidden from other users and use it for recordings only. There are many possibilites...1 point

My guess as @rbjtechelude to is "Main@L6@Main" level 6 encoding. Most clients complain about higher than 5.1, not saying it isn't possible but is outside the norm. As you mentioned no issues with L5 encodes.1 point

+kudos to everyone's brilliance on this topic. And to the developers of Emby itself (whereas most of us would be terribly limited and frustrating ourselves to death trying to get a decent enough server build doing half of what Emby does) But I gotta throw this out.. the future is in full automaton programming. Not necessarily full AI but rather asking a Google,.or Alexa device to do something, and it does it. We get this from lighting to smart plugs, video surveillance, reminders, and by asking generalized questions expecting relevant results. I would hope that the Emby devs see and acknowledge this also. Where there are so many directions that can be taken to make it work. Whether it be through DLNA, casting methods, or API calls. Guys, why isn't more serious (not discounting actual bug fixes) attention being given to this effort? Everyone now a days have an Alexa or a Google, or like me both.. This would not just make Emby shine, it would outperform any other option on the market. Well, unless you suggest that we should settle with Alexa prime music, or Google YouTube premium subscriptions.. But I just don't believe that's true, considering how MediaBrowser has evolved into now known Emby. Is there a light at the end of this tunnel?1 point

You can't reinstall it as it's not maintained and so no more compatible with current versions of Emby and Jellyfin. Only solution is that developer of it updates it0 points

I think this is an interesting idea but with almost no merit. I do NOT want to wade through pictures when i can read what is supposed to be portrayed much faster and with fewer comprehension errors than could ever be obtained by some picture show. The "idea" that "a picture is worth a thousand words" is absurd that was invented by "artists" to lazy or to inept to actually say what is meant. I strongly hope Emby does not waste the time and effort to create something based on images when just a few words does the same job both better and easier to understand. I could go on but I do not think it is necessary as the idea itself is self evidently flawed.0 points
