  1. Oh, come'on, we are really trying to help everybody on issues, but I don't think it is fair to let us allocate time for this issue where you: Started reporting this in a way like it would be supposed to work Didn't tell that it's about something unsupported - even though you knew it Not even told us (only after explicit question from @Happy2Play) that you are running Emby in a Hyper-V VM, even though you knew that it's crucial information for the issue

  2. What brought you to Emby? Did you leave Plex or Jellyfin or was Emby your first media server? I went from XBMC to Boxee Box to Plex to Emby. I moved because there were too many bugs in Plex, specifically there was an audio bug that, while there was a massive post in the forums about the issue, Plex never addressed over the course of about a year. I've stayed with Emby because of the forum and support - even though Emby hasn't always run smoothly on my old hardware (which changed with 4.8 btw, works great!) What about Emby do you like or dislike? All my media in one place, works well, easy enough that my wife can find what she wants to watch. I'd like to see music get the attention to detail that tv and movies get. I think Emby could be like Roon or Apple Music. I'd like to see a music app. Have you tried the alternatives out there and if so what is your feedback compared to Emby? I tried Jellyfin out of curiosity a little while after it was forked. Probably to soon, since it was basically still (old) Emby. What OS are you running your server on? What clients do you use on a daily basis? I'm running my server on a 2014 mac Mini which is also - sometimes - used as the household computer (kids and wife). Attached to it I have a 5 bay Drobo (and I just discovered today that they went bankrupt) which has worked flawlessly, I've had a disk fail and swapped it with no problems. I use the Android app side loaded on to a Nvidia Shield. My wife uses it on her Android phone and we have an old old Amazon fire tv box that gets used sometimes. Any other general comments about Emby and your experience are always welcomed. Update the website. It's exactly the same as it was in 2017 (?) when I first check it out. None of the images are current and it looks a bit dated.

  3. I have a fairly complex setup with live tv (i import a tuner as well as m3u of hulu live tv provided by channels dvr as well as other custom m3u with things like security cams and all the m3us are made via iptvboss). I have refresh guide data running regularly as well as my m3us and xml epg files regularly (the tuner uses emby guide data). Now earlier today it was not working guide data wise at all and I have since fixed it, but on my TV for example it still said no guide data until I quit and reloaded the app. Is there a way to get the client to reload the guide data from the server without reloading the whole app? This is no big deal if there is no way I was just hoping there was. In this particular example the app I had to reload was the emby app on an onn box (the 20 dollar android tv box from walmart) Thanks in advance

  5. A dedicated section will become as cluttered and of little use as all of the hundreds of threads about the same things that are now scattered all over these forums. Maybe a dedicated section will bring them together to one place but that won't help most find the right answers. You're going to find yourself spending a lot of time splitting threads and moving posts. Forum members don't search. New forum members don't seem to know that search exists. Some people don't know what to search for. I guess any organization is better than none.

  7. Oh, I think they could be coming from TinyMediaManager, I could disable all providers in my libraries, let TinyMediaManager fetch all the data in a temp folder and translate it before adding them to Emby. Thanks.

  8. When in "Detail view" of an item in a Emby library (like Movies), is it already technically possible for the Emby devs (@@Luke & @ebr), to incorporate swipe actions, to go to next or previous Movie in that library ? Would be awesome if mobile Emby users could browse their Movies in a Emby library just by swiping left or right AND still stay in detail view ! Example of swiping content with Infuse 5.x on iOS: https://streamable.com/5zv2i

  9. There is no way currently, although that topic has come up before (and personally I would find it beneficial). You can lend your support here:

  10. Well my suggestion was closed and pointed here. But it is a little different. I did get hacked not that long ago, they managed to steal a few thousand in crypto. So I do not like FTP or SSH personally. I set my firewall tight so emby is the only port open to the outside world. My question was to add a feature that would let me take a video off my phone while I am not home, because at home SMB works just fine, and be able to upload it to the correct folder on emby. Example, I have a show that is S2E10, that is not copyrighted, and am on vacation. One of my family members that do not live at my house wants to watch, I would like to go into the show and upload that file directly. Bypassing all the other things that would make me open other ports. So camera upload would not work as I need. In basics I want to go into show XYZ, folder for Season 2, select Eppisode 10 and upload. Or even go to the TV library and upload there and then be able to manually import into said show and Eppisode. As the auto organization plug in for shows in other languages, especially Asian, does not give the English name, it saves as either the Kanji or Romanji but the Asian name still, not English. Please help.

  11. Understand that. I am just asking if there was a way to add something to Emby to manually import shows and movies So if I have a file on my HD, can there be a way to import it into the show or movie, have it renamed correctly and show up? I know there is a plug in called "auto organize" but with anime especially it will create a folder in kongi (if I spelled that right, as well as the eppisode, I just want it to make the folder and eppisode name in English. I was only using NZB360 as an example is all.

  12. Just ran a guide refresh, and it's looks like they have fixed the issue. Channels that lost listings are now re-populating within having to remap these channels

  13. Just my 2 cents: Having anything exposed to the internet is a potential problem. You are responsible for the security of your home network. When you open a door to the internet the world is watching you (or scanning you for vulnerability). You must setup a gate-keeper to keep it secure. You cannot rely on your ISP or its equipment for doing so. All information for securing your emby server (and your home network) that is expose to the internet is available in the forum. However, only tinkerer or an advance user can easily sort out the different solution and implement them. I agree that having a section dedicated to security would be a plus. But different solution should be proposed for different skill factor of the user. example : Basic for all solution : All account in emby have to be password protected. Admin account to be only reachable in local network not from internet. Very easy : Use a commercial VPN Mesh Network. Easy : DDNS to point to your home IP, Set up a VPN server on your router or computer. Medium : DDNS to point to your home IP, SSL certificate directly in emby. Advance : DDNS to point to your home, reverse proxy, SSL certificate, Firewall etc.

  14. Looking at that log, the app requested the delete on a single video and then the server decided it should also delete the containing folder. It would do this if it thought that was the only video in the folder. I'm guessing this would only be reproduceable under the exact set of circumstances/file organization/makeup that existed here but it doesn't appear to be related to the app at all.

  17. @jaycedk That was the problem! Until a few weeks ago I used Kodi and, as mentioned, I am unfamiliar with Emby. I have now set it up correctly with the login from opensubtitles.com instead of .org and now it downloads the subs correctly! Thank you very much! @jaycedk

  19. If you are using radarr/sonarr consider using Bazarr for your subtitle need. Bazarr is an companion app, that ties into radarr and sonarr.

  22. Yes! The Emby.SDK actually includes a channel plugin example ("Channel Plugin" is the type of those plugins) which is actually a stripped version of the Mediathek plugins where the ARD/ZDF stuff is removed. You can get it by downloading the Emby SDK or get it from here directly: https://dev.emby.media/reference/pluginapi/Emby.Media.Model.Enums.ChannelLayouts.html#Emby_Media_Model_Enums_ChannelLayouts_Layout6Point0

  25. The "standard" app is the one that does NOT do photos correctly! v3.3.78. The "for Firetv" app, v2.0.98a, does do this correctly. But see, this is part of the issue. The whole "try the standard" app, try the other app thing is getting old. Pick one, make that the only one we download, fix it, and lets move on! I personally, do NOT care for the "standard Android" app, but if that would be what you guys want I would use it and judge Emby on that app as to whether it is for me.

  26. I vote for that too. Not that I have issue as I put security first. I don’t blame emby for this at all. Same for lots of apps. You can google radarr, sonarr hacks etc, same easy access for the internet but then people lose all their tv shows and movies. Same as bank scams. People regularly give out their details will little/no checks and then blame the banks for not providing better security and want their money back.

  28. Thanks guys, I think it was the quotes around the password in my original setup, and now my domain/ssl cert setup is borked due to too many tries. Will mess with it more. BTW: The problem with the password was that I copied and pasted from HTML into a terminal, and the "" were the damn fancy "". Unicode Character "β€œ" (U+201C) Sigh. That was a fun hour of my Saturday lol.

  29. /Edit: If you just want to edit the genre, you can skip Beets and directly use whatlastgenre. Always do dry-runs until you are satisfied with the result.

  30. Cheers, I'm also having issues with music and proper genre tagging. (I must say that I switched to Plex for music only as PlexAmp ist a really good player). I had the issue with too many single tags, also some genre like Rock are far too generic (Elvis Presley right next to Arch Enemy). I started using Beets for tagging, currently with the plugin whatlastgenre for genres. It gets the genres from Discogs, Musicbrainz and Lastgenre and calculates the most fitting ones with an optional whitelist and max genre count. It also has a find/replace function for the tags, so changing Rock to ' Rock' and whitelisting this is possible. There are currently two downsides, first one is my Lidarr instance losing track of retagged music, and the second one being that it's tag level and requires a rescan of the metadata. Let me know if you need more information.

  31. Everyone, I am changing the GUI again to make it better and simpler to use. I am adding: 1) smart playlists for building channels, 2) pre-built smart playlists for building channels, 3) an editor for adding, and deleting tags (both single edit and bulk edit - like in Bulky), and 4) preview of smart playlists. It's 80% done. I hope to be finished in a few days. Vic

  32. Still working on the script. I decided to add add TMDB tags and format them with Unicode icons for better grouping and came up with something like depicted above. Here are my formatted tags for 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' as an example. 1940s, cartoon, los angeles, california, movie business, neo-noir, whodunit, Classic, Mainstream, Milestone, National Film Registry, Popcorn Movie, Blockbuster, Literature, Novel, 🎞 Film in Film, 🎞 Happy End, Academy Award - Winner, Hollywood Film, Big Budget Film, Hommage, Maneater, Funny, Understated, Uplifting Some famous film It's currently using OMDB data combined with TMDB tags, blockbuster/flop tag is added by the script according to the films' budget and revenue. Categorizes B-Movies and low budget according to the budget. It's possible to set a min amount of films for the genres and tags. I've added a globe icon to countries, but am hestitant to also include e.g. "las angeles, california" as it would add lots of locations. Any suggestions or ideas? I'll provide a test version, but only if someone asks for it. I'm lazy Some random lines of code to get an overview: icon_chacrater_tag = "" icon_superpowers_tag = "" icon_genres_tag = "" icon_source_literature_type_tag = "" 'based on memoir or autobiography': [' True Story'], 'vampire': [' Vampire '], 'zombie': [' Zombie '], 'alien': [' Alien '],

  33. As far as I know Emby does use http/2 when TLS is enabled. It would seem that your reverse proxy might be the problem here if the clients are connecting with http/1 to the reverse proxy. If the problem was Emby then you would have the client -> proxy connections as http/2 and proxy -> Emby downgraded to http/1.

  35. Great suggestions @user24. These are my favorite type of feature enhancements, and the type that I feel emby should really focus: using the data that is already present in the system to empower new experiences with your media.

  40. Actually I believe that Emby should not even try to handle live TV. There are plenty of other programs that handle live TV and, particularly if it is Emby's largest expense, supporting the extreme complexities just makes little sense.
