  1. @lukeoslavia The main Emby dev's as well many of our members explain to you in clear matter about your concerned. But you kept voices your wrong thought in all your posts here. This is Emby community support forum, if you want simply to advertise other media software, do it at other places. Thanks.

  2. Was going to comment had no issue on a new db entry with your naming scheme so can only guess something in the update from 4.7 to 4.8. But glad it is working now. Note instead of Renaming everything you could remove, do full scan, then readd to see if imports correctly.

  3. I changed season folder names to just S01 and so on which seems to work better, i'll tidy up my library with a better structure. Thank you @Lukeand @Happy2Play for very fast responses.

  4. HI, we are discussing this whole thing internally, including the document. I can see what you mean because when you look at it from a glance, it mentions "website" in several places and this needs to be updated. It is a document that is intended to apply to both the website and software, but I think there are places where it is not specific enough.

  5. OK ok @lukeoslavia For sure you do not want to accept the fact everyone had explain to you, and you keep misleading the fact with all your false indicating of something not there from the start. Your post now under moderation approval matters, you really force this on your account.

  6. I've addressed it multiple times. We have a privacy policy for legal reasons. We are an actual business and, thus, must adhere to a higher standard than a project that is using code mostly developed by others. The existence of this forum on our web domain requires that we have a very broad policy. This is my final statement on the matter.

  7. Dur, long day at work, my bad, I expected it to display a compacted left bar like the web app, now I've clicked left it displays exactly as you say, so looking good, thanks very much, I'll get back to you with some feedback once I have given it a good testing Btw, brilliant support! Cheers!

  9. Hello, Perhaps I am not the first one to ask this question but it will be very cool if this feature could be implemented. I have 2 servers one at home and the other at work. ( and soon a third one...) So I have a movies library called movies on each server. I would like to see all the movies from a single 'virtual server location' when I use the app (ios or android ) where I will see only one movies library containing movies informations from the movie library at work and the movie library at home. It's an aggregation of movies informations from the movie library at work and the movie library at home. In fact when a user have multiple servers it will be perfect if another choice in the server list called "all servers" for example appears automatically with a merge of media informations from librairies with the same name on different servers.

  10. Version: 4.8.0.80 I searched a lot, but I do not find a threat with a bundle of instructions of how to export all settings to setup a complete new database. My mission is not to only restore a backup. Background: I use emby for ages and I am very happy with it. Except the speed. I have had lots of database updates the last years and Emby becomes slow and slower. I hope I will find a (working) solution to speed up emby, but until now all approaches did not work unfortunately. My database seems to be fine (2,5 GB size), but some requests and responses are very very slow - and I don't now why. What are the steps? The library is generated new from emby. That's easy. As a basis I assume not to change anything at the files/filestructure of the content during this conversation process. How do you deal with: a) metadata/musicalbums b) metadata/musicartists c) metadata/people Is it possible to restore these files from the Backup & Restore-Plugin? Or is it not possible, because of unique IDs that are different in the new database? d) Users? They are stored in the users.db. Import-/Export possible somehow? Or just replace file? Are there unique IDs, which will not match afterwards? e) Playlists? They are stored ../Emby-Server\programdata\data\playlists That should be easy. f) Collections? The are stored in the library.db. Import-/Export possible somehow? g) What about the .nfo-Files? I do save artwork into media folders in all my libraries. Do I have to trigger a refresh (emby database to .nfo) before generating the new database? Did I forget something important?

  11. No need to apologise I was just advising you that there are better options out there. It's by no means 'bad' but it cannot play many formats without the need for 3rd party services.

  12. Possibly. The user experience on the 4.8 beta and 4.8 Release on all my shared AndroidTV devices is functionally identical to how it was on 4.7 On the main devices, it shows the users smiling happy faces when the app is run, they select themselves, hit enter and start watching. When they are done, they turn off the device/app. When the device/app is loaded again, they are presented with themselves again. Do not log out the users, or you'll need to put the password back in again for that user. If they want to be able to login to a NEW device, they need to put a one-time password in and select 'remember me'. That's it .. PIN's are ONLY needed if you wish to further protect an account from being 'switched to' - ie adult vs child scenerio - or shared web browser where one user is an admin etc. I really don't see an issue with how it works BUT I do understand some clients have not yet received the necessary updates - this needs to be sorted asap - and frankly, should have been done before releasing this Auth change.. but we are where we are.

  13. @rbjtechSeems like we have similar uses of playlists. For me, recommendations from others users will now be their own playlist shared by them view only. The person making the rec carries a lot of weight, which is motivation for my initial requests. In the past, I've toyed around with one of the playlist plugins and had favorited items go into a playlist for from that user, thereby making an "X's Favs" playlist... still not sure how I feel about it. What I really want is users to be able to rate items, then be able to sort and view those ratings, but I think this is a pipe dream. Maybe if plugins could affect the GUI but that's a whole other topic. Now that Trakt is configurable per user I'll have to finally take a look into it. Maybe it can fulfill some of these desires.

  14. No, she doesn't have to enter a pin every time. Setup an account for her, set a password. You can also set a pin if you'd like, but it's not necessary. Login to that account checking the 'remember me' box. If you have a pin set, click 'no' when asked if you'd like to use it with this device. She can now switch to that account on that device whenever she likes, without entering a pin or password. The account will be remembered until you explicitly click 'sign out'. Optionally you can give her the password to be able to log herself into new devices. And/Or you can add a pin+click 'yes' when asked so others can't switch to her user.

  15. Hi. Make sure that 1) the ratings on your items actually exist and 2) they are valid according to what Emby is looking for.

  16. please try this version here. After copying over the new dll, you'll want to restart the server, and then maybe even clear some browser caching stuff to see any changes in the dashboard. This should fix the loading issue, let me know how it goes. Thank you for the help.

  18. All fixed. The tuner had somehow become disconnected from the pc. Had my son reconnect it and it's now working as it should. Thanks for your help and my apologies for the wild goose chase. regards Paul

  19. Hi @adrianwi, that worked. I was able to successfully upgrade to 4.8.1. I did have to restart the whole jail since, for some reason, the service restart emby-server command wasn't enough, even though the console messages were saying the service was actually stopping/starting. Moreover, I'm not sure why the original pkg update && pkg upgrade commands failed to to do their thing with the emby package (including a few minutes ago) even after the reference fix by @Luke. Is something else missing?

  20. I would first clean the cables and connectors, (BE VERY CAREFUL if you use contact cleaner, make sure it is plastic safe!!) or at very least reseat (push and pull the connector apart and back together a few times) the connection on both ends. It sounds like the monitor and video card are losing sync on the refresh rate, or more accurately the monitor isn't "hearing" the change in refresh rate. You may only see this with Emby if its the only program that changes the refresh rate.

  21. @Lukedon't remember if anything came of this. But know it was Discogs with different name then other provider.

  22. Refreshing the metadata on the music library in Emby library setup fixed the issue. Thanks, Luke and team.

  23. Will have to look but there are topic on this where having Dicog as first provider cause all kinds of issues with as there naming is different then say Musicbrainz in many cases. Sort sorting of goes rogue from provider data.

  27. For those that stumble across this... I also had some problematic tags in a few albums. I keep everything tagged perfectly using Picard before I add to Emby, so I checked why. There is a tag called "Grouping" that shows in Picard, and although you can remove it and successfully save the file, Picard doesn't seem to remove that tag. No matter how many times you edit the file and re-add to Emby, the tags in that "Grouping" field remain. The solution is to edit the tag with another application. I used Clementine. It seems to remove the "Grouping" tag fine, and the offending tags vanish after re-scanning the library. There must be a setting/bug in Picard, or it doesn't edit certain versions of tags... whatever. But if you remove the "Grouping" tag it cleans up the tags in Emby. Have a great day...

  28. You need enable "Image Capture" if you want Emby to generate and image for you. But you will have to verify the options you want enabled on the library like writing nfo files and Preview images, where you want images stored.

  29. Ok, after 1 hour server started. So this is solved. But near to heart attack.

  31. I don't have to sign into any emby services giving them access to all of my data in order to use my local emby server. That alone should be enough of a reason to switch.

  32. Minor request, from doing extensive debugging in a different thread: it would be much more convenient if the "View Server Info" popup from server Dashboard generated clickable hyperlinks or text that is at least select-copy-able, rather than an image, so we could more easily jump to any of those directories.

  33. In fact, in their latest announcements, they were crowing about how much data they had on people's usage.

  34. Somehow you are misunderstanding everything (or just being intentionally combative). WE are not collecting data and sharing with anyone. A total number of [whatever] that use a particular feature is not "collecting data" from users. It does not fall under the definition of "personally identifiable data". Whether the number is 100 or 99 does not impact any individual.
    1 point
  35. No we don't but Google, Amazon, etc do. There is nothing to opt-out of. When you install an app from an app store, you accept the terms of that app store. As for our report to GN that is not personal or identifiable information and is a contractual agreement that cannot be bypassed.

  36. Emby Premiere validations and plugin downloads are about the only network requests that go from your Emby Server to ours. That and Emby Connect updates if you use that feature. We don't even capture any telemetry in the server, which to some sounds primitive but the privacy buffs tend to appreciate it. It's about as barebones as you can get.

  37. OK run: delete from ancestorids2 where AncestorId in (select id from mediaitems where type=4) and itemid <> AncestorId Then start the server and have a look at all of your libraries. Thanks.

  38. Hi. You can follow progress in beta releases but we don't publish our plans to the world (competition). Thanks.

  39. @fuzzyembyWhen you say it took 7 hours, what happened during that time? Were you able to access your server locally at all? Haven't updated yet so trying to get an idea of what to expect so I can plan accordingly. I dont want to start an update at 2PM and not be able to use emby at all without warning my householed members that it may or may not be back for the rest of the day.

  40. I actually went through the web browsers of emby and into the plugins catalogue. The plugin still shows up and you can click to install and click to pay for it. I paid first via paypal, and then installed the plugin as I had used this before. So, a note to emby Team. Atleast someone make a note before others decide to pay for it to not get anything. Im not moaning about the $3. Its just not good service for emby to have a plugin avaiable that you pay for that doesnt work.
    1 point
  41. Is this plugin available on the catalog? Or a way to have it auto update when an update is available?
    1 point
  42. This. The fundamental issue with the way Top picks, or any duplication of the item via a strm, new unique id etc, is this goes against the emby dev recommendations and thus is not 'supported'. I too hope to see legitimate ways to provide pointers to items without repercussions - if that is enabled, then the likes of all the 'workaround' plugins and hacks can be formed into supported smart/filtered playlists that can be shown on the home screen. From a presentation point of view, the actual 'view' of each icon is just using Googles SkiaSharp (the same one used for Cover Art 4 Plugin) - we (chef, cheesegeezer and I) went through a few iterations on the design to make it stand out from the crowd but chef did all the magic on making it stick. But all we really need is a 'highlight/top pick' type metadata flag which can be activated by the users (and is not just a favorite..) - and we could have something in the Core - which highlights an item or puts it into a top row library etc. Fingers crossed now 4.8 is out - this, or items related to it - are top of the to do list - as imo, this is sorely missing from emby and is the #1 item asked by all my users - why can't I select an item to watch later and see that in a 'watch later' row ? It's really not asking much is it ...

  43. I don't do any sort of live TV through Emby (and frankly don't understand why you would want to, but that's a different matter) so I uninstalled the XmlTV plugin this morning, since it appears to be a TV guide. I also uninstalled the M3U TV Tuner for the same reason. Six hours later, XmlTV reinstalled itself. Is there another dependency of some sort, or am I missing something else? It would be very useful (to me, anyway) if either on MouseOver or clicking on it, there is a description of what the plugin does as well as dependencies in the "My Plugins" section, given that I have no idea what some of those plugins do, let alone do for me.

  44. trix77, Just wanted to say thanks for this tool! I ran my entire m3u file through it and am adding entries to Emby on an as-want basis.
