Try this CyferShepard/Jellystat: Jellystat is a free and open source Statistics App for Jellyfin (github.com) The devs, will add Emby support when they have corrected some bugs. Emby Support · Issue #133 · CyferShepard/Jellystat (github.com)5 points

You should just let Luke respond to things like this. You are trying to white knight for dev's here and there's no reason for it. Nobody was aggressive or pestering anyone here. Please accept that sometimes - people wanna know whats going on. Giving emby money every month I think entitles me to a few posts asking whats up.5 points

Hi, we'll hopefully have it out in the next 1-2 weeks. We're working hard on it. Just finishing up closing the last few open issues.4 points

It's almost like Luke the team have more important things to do than calm down whining little brats. I'd like to see people try this on the Plex forums where devs don't comment and problem reports are closed due to inactivity without the issues being resolved at all. How much freaking hand holding do you all need? If you could all just shut up and let the devs do what their good at instead of criticizing them, bad mouthing them, etc, they would be more appreciative. The comments in here are why projects die, as the devs feel the community is toxic and not worth their hard work and effort. I've seen in many times in the decades I've been online where the community's negativity has caused good projects to die because the devs have had it with their users being such a burden. That's the problem with social media these days. Morons think they know more than the experts, and they flaunt their ignorance and think it makes them powerful.3 points

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE1 point

I would like to have the ability to check if a movie is already in my library before scheduling a recording in the DVR. The only way to do it now is to make a search. This mean going from on screen to another. It is already possible to not record an episode of a serie that already exist in the library. A similar option should be available for movie, One suggestion is to have a seach display on screen when scheduling the recording of a movie, in order to inform if the movie is already in the library or not. Hope this help!1 point

Hi, I would love to have tautulli or equivalent for emby. Especially for people coming from plex, we would love to see something like tautulli. I know there are a few Statistic plugins but i think we all know there is nothing like tautulli out there. I love the way i see people currently watching movies on my server and the details of what is transcoding etc. i know emby also shows ppl watching movies but it isn't the same. I don't get a notification or even see a icon if someone starts to play while i have the emby page open. There is no icon that shows me someone is watching a movie. Tautulli is also open source so if someone has the skills in python to make it work for emby, this would be amazing. For me this is actually really the only reason I hesitate to switch completely. maybe someone can make this happen1 point

Currently 4.6 has GENRES menu option going to display a long list of ALBUMS (using the ID3v2 tag name) and this is really not expected as the view as artists can be randomly shown in the list as its done alphabetically by ALBUM name. Can this be changed so that the ARTIST (or ALBUM ARTIST) tag is used as the view please because it makes more sense; its tidier too. When you go into GENRES, you often want to see the ARTISTS or AUTHORS and THEN see the list of work for them such as Albums or Books. Music and Music Video Libraries: ALBUMS are assigned to ARTIST in embedded meta data terms AudioBooks: BOOKS are assigned to AUTHORS. In this case the actual embedded meta data tags are still the same (BOOKS is ALBUMS and AUTHOR is ARTIST) If this change is completed, the result is that when you select a GENRE e.g. 'Rock', you'll then get a list of artists in that genre. When you find the artist you are interested in, and click it, you then get the albums. This is instead of the current alphabetical list of album names resulting in far bigger list to wade through if you have many albums (or books). In this current view, the artist work can be repeated multiple times if they released multiple albums and are all over the place because the sorting is on the album name. NOTE: MUSIC library did used to be like the proposed change until changed in 4.6.x!1 point

Sorry if this is a duplicate. Searched and been through forums and can't find this request. Have recently moved from another media platform and the biggest difference is the built in ad/commercial skipping capability. While watching live TV that is being recorded (watch from beginning) wound be great if the skip functions worked in that scenario. Have the ad / commercial skipping built-in for recorded shows, processing post recording. Sorry again if is a dupe.1 point

Thanks ebr, I hadn't noticed the "All episodes" folder! That is good alternative. It requires some extra clicks compared to the option available in the standard Android app, so I still hope that will be implemented. But I'm already happy to have an alternative! Thanks again, and keep up the good work!1 point

Ok I fixed it. I wasn't aware that the update for the opensubtitles addon logged me out. I had to login again by typing in my credentials and then it worked! Sorry for the stupid mistake, and from my side it's fixed! Thanks for the support!1 point

Update: I've had two failed recordings that successfully restarted. Yeah!! I also had one that didn't restart but it failed when I was recording another program and that program continued on. Should it matter if I'm recording multiple programs? Should this affect restarts?1 point

@LukeI would love to fully switch to Emby as the media server, but the Music experience is lacklustre for the following reasons. No Smart Playlists I use smart playlists in Plex and Apple Music. I want to see only Unrated/Unplayed Tracks with Soundtracks genre. I have a playlist with tracks rated as one start, which I use to mark tracks for deletion. Once a week or so, I open this smart playlist and delete all tracks rated one start from my file system. Plex and Apple Music apps allow this. I have a smart playlist with albums that have "WWII" comments in the comments section of the meta tag. I play this playlist while playing certain board games. No Keyboard Shortcuts Both Plexamp and Apple Music support keyboard shortcuts that can be triggered while the app is in the background. I have a keyboard shortcut to mark a track as one star/dislike and a shortcut to play the next track. This way, when I hear a track that I do not like, I do not have to open the music app and manually mark it. I can just press the keyboard shortcut and mark the track as one start or dislike and skip to the next track. Using the smart playlists mentioned earlier, I can delete these tracks from my file system. Like/Dislike Shortcut Plexamp and Apple Music Mac, Server, and iOS apps all have a quick way to like and dislike a track. Plexamp, for example, has a star under the playing track that I can tap to like/dislike a track. It is easy to do on iOS and Carplay. Emby has only the Add to Favorite option, which is hidden under the menu option that I have to open by pressing three dots. This is limited and cumbersome. Automated Stations Plexamp can create interesting library stations based on mood and genre. I tried Instant Mix in Emby, but the results sound like a bunch of random tracks shuffled with no particular relation. It was a missed experience. No Dedicated App Plexamp and Apple Music are just a much better experience overall on iOS and Mac compared to the Music section of the Emby Server/iOS app. A lot of this is related to the points mentioned earlier.1 point

Hi. If you have made in-app purchases to unlock apps, we don't need to do anything to "reauthorize" these. You may, however, need to press the "Restore purchase" button in those apps to re-sync the purchase information with the respective app store after a re-install. This is standard app store procedure and not really associated with us per se.1 point

I'm aware of what a playlist is/does. Thanks. This app has a "playlist"mode and a setting to only show unwatched content so I don't think it's unreasonable to ask or desire a feature that allows the plugin to not progress to the next episode if the predecessor remains unwatched. Especially since there's no current setting built into Emby's playlists that would allow me to randomize the shows but keep the episodes in order as this app expertly does.1 point

Don't think so. Once Plex pisses off enough people, or announces that they are halting all development on the server side so they can concentrate on the client, you'll see a mass exodus of users to Emby. Once that happens, I'm sure the Tautulli author will start supporting Emby. I think he said he's totally fine if anyone wants to take up the task. Plex laid off 20% of their staff last year (and some of those folks were key developers that supported the server software). They honestly think that if Plex admins tell the folks that are streaming from them that they are switching to Emby, that these people will keep the Plex client and deal with ads or pay money to watch shows on Max, Hulu, Apple TV, etc. I asked some of the people that stream from me that if I switched to another server software, would they keep the client installed and they all said no. If Plex kills off the server, I'm positive more than 50% of the people using their client will uninstall it and that will be the end of Plex Inc and the birth of Tautulli on Emby.1 point

@LukeI saw errors trying to retrieve subtitles using the SubBuzz plugin, so I temporarily disabled the offending site and restarted the server. The CPU usage seems to have decreased. I will keep an eye on it and reopen the thread if the CPU begins to spike again. I am somewhat perplexed why 5XX on subtitle retrievals should cause high CPU usage, but will report back if it rears up again. Thanks, Eric1 point

At first glance it looks like the runtime user (emby?) might not have full access to some or all of the EMBY_DATA location (/var/lib/emby?). ls -la /var/lib/emby ls -la /var/lib/emby/logs If you find logs in /var/lib/emby/logs then attach the embyserver.txt log.1 point

I really don't know why it isn't there already. Jellyfin has this for ages. It's probably one of the easiest changes they could possibly make. All the data they need for this is already there in the request results. It includes the image tags of the item that is showing, as well as the image tags for its parent item. So all that's missing is a new setting whether or not you want to see episode thumbs instead of show thumbs and a conditional statement in the code that checks for that setting and if it's an episode or not and then change the image link accordingly. I was able to quickly change the image just by swapping a few arguments of the image URL (item id and image tag. Image type changed from Thumb to Primary). All the values were already there in the item object, which can be viewed in the browser network console. So it shouldn't be that hard to do in my opinion.1 point

I fully agree to this. It’s one of the Emby’s counter-intuitive things. In my case i expected to see ALL the music content shown in genre view, not ONLY albums. This means that if you have “singletons” not assigned to any album they aren’t displayed making the genre view unusable (since you can’t see all music on that genre … only albums) It just doesn’t make sense … Either have genre as a filter in other views like albums, artists, album artists etc. OR have those other “resources” as filters inside genre: artist, albums, songs etc.1 point

I'm pretty sure it was one of the kodi-20240107 nightly builds that said it was rebuilding my db. Found it odd there were 2 nightly builds that day. I tried a few builds after and it never changed. Always had no movies even though it looked like E4K was syncing everything.1 point

Are you still on Win 95? the only times I’ve had to reinstall an OS (Winblows/Linux) this century was because of a hardware failure or my own stupidity…. power failures may take a little time too repair but no big deal... Absolute nonsense, Life-time device $5 just works for any server. $120 for server can be used on more than 1 server. What are you talking about? Hu? Then you should be suing Microsoft or your PC manufacturer. reenable? beg for what? Really if that is true then you know that it will be summarily dismissed. what do you give away for free? You really need to sober up (or maybe get wasted) then find a friend to help you setup and use a better PC1 point

It's embys fault your hardware/setup is garbage? Interesting... Maybe try a stable OS on decent hardware (a UPS would help a lot) or actually setup a proper backup solution instead of blaming others for your failings. You shouldn't have to reinstall everything, ever. Emby isn't responsible for your systems crashing in a storm and you not having a decent backup+restore solution for this problem you knew would happen and failed to plan for. (once is one thing, but 'every god damn time'? Clearly this is a known issue in your systems that you could have planned for and fixed) Perhaps there is a bug related to single-app purchases, especially as they should be entirely unrelated to your server, but you need to actually provide information to be able to investigate and solve whatever issue there may be. What clients (and versions) on what devices/platforms, purchased how/when, what actually happens when you try to use an app you've purchased, etc. You've not made any threads requesting help or providing info regarding this issue until now as far as I can see. Are you actually looking for a solution, or just a wall to scream at?? Emby is not against you, but you certainly seem to be acting like they are. That won't help you work towards a solution at all. Take a step back, gather as much info as you can about the problem, then create a bug report here on the forums so it can be investigated and solved for you and others that may encounter it. Hostility just makes everyone want to leave you to deal with your issues alone.1 point

Ok i just seen this in the Trakt Emby task i think it should be explain somewhere when we install Trakt plugin, because i saw I was not the only one to struggle White it: After installed Trakt plugin don’t panic if you don’t see Emby in connected app section of Trakt website. Go in schedule task section in Emby and launch just one, after that it will be automatic1 point

The other obvious question is, can you not just have an Emby client app in FL connect to your PA server? Save you from maintaining 2 separate servers/media?1 point

Hello @Eldontyrellcorpthanks for the kind words. When you display the seasons for a TV series, just filter on "include items = Episodes" and it will show all of the episodes in all of the seasons. I hope this helps. Vic1 point

May I suggest you add something like this: ARC=$(dpkg –print-architecture) Then change the lines like: grep_filter=".*https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/${version}/emby-server-deb_${version}_amd64.deb\"$" To: grep_filter=".*https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/${version}/emby-server-deb_${version}_${ARC}.deb\"$" This should make it work for all (or at least most?) Debian based OS’s (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Mate... Pi(&Pi like...)...) that emby can run on.1 point

No, just hoping to find out when all the TV stuff that was being worked on a while ago will emerge into the daylight for everyone to use.1 point

And finally, update to version 3.0.5.2, boolean datatype is now processed correctly with conditions. So the following script/yields result: note: you do not need to send %userdata.is.favorite% to the script, because the condition is set to ONLY process this action when %userdata.is.favorite% is true, therefore only processing this script when a user 'favorite/likes' a media item. This is just an example, be as creative as you like/need! and my Scripter-X action configuration is as follows :-1 point

I'm asking for nested Genre > Album Artist > Album for music. Currently it's nested Genre > Album. I request it show all album artists under a selected genre, and then all albums under a selected album artist in that genre. So that when I select "Rock" under Genre, it shows Linkin Park and Metallica; and then when I select Linkin Park, it shows Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Instead of showing all [insert genre] albums together in one big list.1 point

This community is here to help you. Here are some guidelines on what information you should supply when reporting issues. Make sure to check out our Knowledge Base for more useful information. Reporting Emby Issues Please create a topic in the community. Describe the problem in your own words, including what you're trying to accomplish, and where you're getting stuck. Please mention some specific examples. In your description, be very specific about the steps you took and what happened with the system. Describe it like you are talking to a blind person - because you are. We cannot see what you did or what happened so be as specific as possible. If you saw error messages, please tell us what they were. If the problem is difficult to explain, please include screenshots that demonstrate the issue. Please attach the server log from the time frame the activity occurred. See the section below titled Emby Server Logs. Please supply the full and complete log file in txt format. Please don't zip or compress, and avoid attempting to extract relevant sections. Everything is relevant to us. If a server transcoding log (ffmpeg log) was also generated during playback (in the server logs folder), please attach that as well. If you are using the Roku or Android TV specific app, please also follow the instructions below to send a log from the app. Emby Server Logs Logs can be accessed directly within the server's web interface by navigating to Logs under Emby Server sidebar section. If you're having difficulty using the web interface, log files can be found in the logs subfolder of the Emby Server Data Folder . Note: Be aware that these log files would not be sanitized if obtained directly from the logs folder and should not be uploaded in the forums. If there is an error downloading the logs through the Emby Web interface for Settings / Logs, please enable debug logging, repeat the attempt to download the logs and report the problem in the forum indicating the logs download issue. The raw logs can then be forwarded to a member of the Emby Team when requested. Emby for Android TV/Fire TV and Emby for Roku Logs These apps have the option to send an app log to us electronically. You enter the settings page and turn on the "Debug Options". Now there will be a new tile on your home page settings row (or menu option on the user menu at the top) labelled "Send Log". Reproduce your problem and then use this button to send the log. Then add the following information to your report in the forum: Exactly what you were doing and what happened. Include the name of whatever you played if it is a playback problem The time you sent the log (in Eastern Time please - UTC -5) The name of the Emby user on the local server that was logged in at the time How to Post Log Files You can simply drag a file onto your post to attach it. Alternatively, you can upload your log file to Paste2 or a DropBox account and then post the link in your topic. Please avoid linking us to log files that require us to sign into a website. If the problem is occurring in the Emby Web app, please remove any custom CSS you may have created and see if the issue remains after that.1 point
