The amount of toxic, whining, self entitled users still hasn't changed I see. If the devs never made an announcement about this, y'all wouldnt' have your panties in a knot over this update that is being worked on.5 points

TheTVDB now supports more alternative orders than just Aired/Absolute/DVD. Can Emby query these additional orders and add them as options? Two examples of shows I've seen this used are Re:Zero which has a "Director's Cut" display order and Money Heist which has a "Netflix" order. https://thetvdb.com/series/re-zero-starting-life-in-another-world https://thetvdb.com/series/la-casa-de-papel1 point

I'm a plex life time member, but I have been using Emby for over six years continuously, but there is a feature which I have always thought is missing in Emby which I would like and encourage the developer to consider including especially in this dispensation where families can social or commingle due to COVID 19. Today, I received a notification from Plex about it new feature titled Watch together you can read about it here https://support.plex.tv/articles/watch-together/ The feature allows friends and families at distance to watch same movies together instantly, you simply invite all your buddy, once they signed to the system which can be seeing in the server then play and pause as needed, this I think is cool feature should be added to emby. Let's here your though if Emby developer should consider adding this feature to our beloved Emby Media https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Plex+Watch+Together&qpvt=plex+watch+together&FORM=EWRE1 point

Could you allow users to customize the order of movies in collections instead of only having it by alphabetical or by release date? Example: I want to have a collection of Batman movies, both animated and motion pictures but want the motion pictures together followed by all the animated ones. With the current order options, this isn't possible. Thanks!1 point

Hi I would really like to be able to send some custom notifications to my users For example, i would like to be able to send a notification like : -"What content would you like to see added on Emby this week ? https://www.strawpoll.me/#####" -"Blabla Season3 is coming next week !" -"Server will be down for maintenance tonight" A little notification icon on the top right corner would be awesome. I looked in the Feature Requests list but i did'nt find anything like that. Thanks for reading, and for this amazing software.1 point

It occurred to me the other day that Emby's Movie and TV libraries treat watched/unwatched indicators in opposite ways. In the TV library, posters display a badge with the number of unwatched episodes on each series poster. No indicator means watched. In the Movie library, posters display a badge with a green checkmark when the movie has been watched. No indicator means unwatched. To summarize: TV: Indicator = UNWATCHED Movie: Indicator = WATCHED It would be great if these libraries could display watched/unwatched status indicators in a consistent manner. Personally I prefer the TV approach, where the indicator corresponds to an unwatched state, as it acts as a flag to draw your attention to something "new". So that would mean no green checkmark on watched movie posters, but instead something like a green star on unwatched movie posters. No change would be needed to the TV library behavior. Thoughts? Am I the only one whose OCD is upset by this?1 point

I'm looking for a way to add more transcoding power to my server so that I can transcode more than 6x 1080p60 live tv streams at once which seems to be the max my i5-9500t CPU can support. I came across https://github.com/joshuaboniface/rffmpeg which seems interesting. I have 2 servers set up side by side for failover purposes, in theory I should be able to configure rffmpeg to call emby's ffmpeg binary via the config, and then reconfigure emby to use rffmpeg which would be able to reach out to the standby server to assist with transcoding tasks. I'll be attempting to implement this on Ubuntu LTS and I'll keep this thread updated with my findings. I appreciate any feedback/assistance that anyone can offer.1 point

OK I think that should be more consistent in the upcoming 4.8 server release. Thanks.1 point

Hey Luke, I got 4.8 installed for testing and I can confirm that the issue I am having in the 4.7 stable does not happen in the latest 4.8 beta I am not seeing the same errors at all, and the subtitles are displaying just fine. I will mark this as resolved since I can confirm it's fixed in the beta. Thanks for your help with this one!1 point

I posted the issue in the Unraid discord and figured out the issue, which was the following In my main emby container, I used /mnt/user/transcodes for my transcoding directory I set this same path in the beta container, which is where emby was somehow detecting another instance was running (no idea how that works) So I created a new transcode folder specifically for 4.8 under /mnt/user/transcodes/embybeta and this got my second instance to run I never had thought this would have caused issues, but it does sorta make sense. Thanks all for the help on this!1 point

I actually got it to work after setting up the SSL certificate. Amazon echo skill now works as expected. The Google home 'test emby remote' on the otherhand is connected but not accepting any of my commands on Google home speaker https://emby.media/support/articles/Google-Home.html?q=google thoughts?1 point

Ok thanks for the info I'll keep an eye out for the next stable release. Thanks again!1 point

This information is not on your server. Premiere devices are not tracked on your server or by server. They are tracked by key on our admin server. Creating an API to access detailed information is a possible attack vector since your server has no way of authenticating with ours at this time (we don't require you to create an account with us). We continue to investigate ways to provide some of this information safely and securely but, in all honesty, it isn't our top priority because the vast majority of our users using the product as intended have absolutely no issue with the device limits.1 point

Denon gets my vote, but I've no idea about the speakers. If possible - try and get a demo in a dedicated demo room - but remember that this is likely setup with proper 'overhead' speakers while this setup has 'up firing' Atmos speakers. The demo room may have both - so ask for a comparison.1 point

There are some Sony TVs which only support DV profile 5/8 when streamed. This is why there are tools to convert the DV7 RPU to DV8. The reason behind this is because DV7 is only present on UHD discs technically would require you to buy a UHD player.1 point
-
I don't think it's related to the profiles - I think it's likely related to the fact that certain Sony Bravia TV's (AF8 etc) cannot actual process Dolby Vision properly - and thus the general advice is to actually turn it off as it looks terrible... You'll need to do some Googling to find the details, I don't have a Sony TV myself - but I believe this is what it means by 'limited' - as there is no such thing as 'Dolby Vision (limited)' - it should display all profiles as listed in the DV specification - DV5/DV7 and DV8 are the common ones - but Sony are simply reporting this 'limited' back to Emby - probably to cover themselves...1 point

Just slow. Obviously it is very fast compared to where we were in 2016 But expectation change! Yes - actually I played with the pages option which does something similar - but since that applies across all lists, it seemed to cause problems with the widget endpoints or something. It caused popups saying there was an error in the skin, but I admit I didn't even look what it was and just turned it back off. I will take the time to log the error I get in Embuary when I do that, and try increasing the page size. Agree going back is an option... I wonder how hard it would be to change the skin A-Z selector to go to the EmbyCon A-Z endpoints.. I might look at that too. (can you tell my wife is out of town and I am bored? )1 point

I don't have the original image, so I just cropped the old image as you suggested. I used the logo builder in the Bulky plugin. it will be in the next build. vic1 point

I actually like having a re-watched show in Continue Watching, but I agree that I'd like Emby to be able to track where I am with the 2nd watching of a series.1 point

ok - when I get some time, I'll look to add this as an option to prefix the description with the codec details above - default will be off..1 point

Yeah docker ports can get confusing.. e.g. "8097:8096", the last port 8096 is the default port emby uses, 8097 is the port I'm using for a second test server so it doesn't conflict with my original server. I hope that makes sense, just don't change the second port and you should be ok. No need to change the ports within emby! Just change the port to access emby in the url etc.1 point

OK try unchecking the 3D checkbox and see if that helps.1 point

Thanks mate, these extra options will come in handy when I refresh my libs (usually every 6 months). At the moment I'm past the recovery stage but I'm happy with where things are at the mo. Just got to fix up some of my manual edits I did before this plugin existed. A future lib refresh will fix that, all classifications are unlocked so we are good to go... at some point in the future..1 point

Doesn't sound like the same - running iptv simple client 20.13.0 on Kodi 20.2/3 and don't see the same "pvr.iptvsimple: pvr.iptvsimple - Process - unable to connect to: special://profile/addon_data/plugin.video.emby-next-gen/temp/f977130856604113b453d1b246658281-livetv.m3u" type errors in my logs. The error in question appears to be isolated to Kodi 21. Also I see the entries for the channels along with epg related data in IPTV client - just cannot start the playback.1 point

I created an update. But... I had to let it run for a bit on my machine to make sure it didn't do broken things. Bear with me a little just a little longer, and I'll get it fixed.1 point

Hi, did you see this? Application path: /opt/emby-server/system SharpCifs.Smb.SmbException: SharpCifs.Smb.SmbException: Failed to connect: 0.0.0.0<00>/192.168.0.113 at SharpCifs.Smb.SmbFile.DoShareEnum(List`1 list, Boolean files, String wildcard, Int32 searchAttributes, ISmbFilenameFilter fnf, ISmbFileFilter ff) What you could try instead. Mount your smb share to a local path in Ubuntu, then add the local path into Emby Server instead of the smb path. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.1 point

I think the issue was that it broke the top picks plugin. But I see no reason why it should not be supported as it should just treat it like any other media file. but @Cheesegeezermaybe able to expand on this1 point

There is no way to stop or divide the train on 4.8. The changes that have already been created and implemented are wide-ranging and exciting. What so many of us are asking the Emby developers to do is to stop adding any more new changes and ship 4.8! What is the point at which the actual finished version will be released? Shouldn't any last bugs in the current beta be addressed and then just make it official, and all the other nifty ideas that are planned can then be added in a 4.8.1 or a 4.9 version??1 point

How are we going to "wrap things up" without releasing new versions to test?1 point

@HolyGigi @wolfram84 @darkassassin07 @ChrisJ60 Here is a 4.7 compatible version of the updated open subtitles plugin. Can you try this out? Thanks ! OpenSubtitles.zip1 point

I am going to chime in with some more demand for this - its nice to support the extra folders so they can be used but its a half assed halfway implementation of additional content folders, however this dumps potentially dozens of random files into one unsorted bucket. the ui elements are entirely required for this to work.1 point

So long as at least one of the instances is NOT set to save metadata with the media, there should be no conflict. Emby does not mess with the media files themselves. Paul1 point

There's a new plugin coming soon which will give you complete and structured access to all Mediatheks content, including Swiss, Austria, Arte, KiKa, German 3rd programs and even more. The existing plugins won't go away, though. They are providing the same/similar content views like the official Mediathek clients, focused on the latest highlights and the most popular content, whereas the new plugin will show the content more like an Emby library. Stay tuned!1 point

]in plex, a [orange] mark on the poster (whether it be just a mark [movie] or a unwatched count [tv show]) means "something to watch here ie something unwatched''. so for the sake of internal [to emby] consistency and consistency with plex, my vote would be for emby to switch to showing 'no mark' when a movie is watched' and a mark when unwatched (to fit with no mark when a tv show is fully watched/has no unwatched content) a slight issue is emby's current mark is a tick, which would would look a bit odd if all unwatched movies had a tick (tick means 'done' [more akin to watched] where im from) . so maybe a green circle rather than a tick would be better....'green means 'go'/'start''.1 point

This community is here to help you. Here are some guidelines on what information you should supply when reporting issues. Make sure to check out our Knowledge Base for more useful information. Reporting Emby Issues Please create a topic in the community. Describe the problem in your own words, including what you're trying to accomplish, and where you're getting stuck. Please mention some specific examples. In your description, be very specific about the steps you took and what happened with the system. Describe it like you are talking to a blind person - because you are. We cannot see what you did or what happened so be as specific as possible. If you saw error messages, please tell us what they were. If the problem is difficult to explain, please include screenshots that demonstrate the issue. Please attach the server log from the time frame the activity occurred. See the section below titled Emby Server Logs. Please supply the full and complete log file in txt format. Please don't zip or compress, and avoid attempting to extract relevant sections. Everything is relevant to us. If a server transcoding log (ffmpeg log) was also generated during playback (in the server logs folder), please attach that as well. If you are using the Roku or Android TV specific app, please also follow the instructions below to send a log from the app. Emby Server Logs Logs can be accessed directly within the server's web interface by navigating to Logs under Emby Server sidebar section. If you're having difficulty using the web interface, log files can be found in the logs subfolder of the Emby Server Data Folder . Note: Be aware that these log files would not be sanitized if obtained directly from the logs folder and should not be uploaded in the forums. If there is an error downloading the logs through the Emby Web interface for Settings / Logs, please enable debug logging, repeat the attempt to download the logs and report the problem in the forum indicating the logs download issue. The raw logs can then be forwarded to a member of the Emby Team when requested. Emby for Android TV/Fire TV and Emby for Roku Logs These apps have the option to send an app log to us electronically. You enter the settings page and turn on the "Debug Options". Now there will be a new tile on your home page settings row (or menu option on the user menu at the top) labelled "Send Log". Reproduce your problem and then use this button to send the log. Then add the following information to your report in the forum: Exactly what you were doing and what happened. Include the name of whatever you played if it is a playback problem The time you sent the log (in Eastern Time please - UTC -5) The name of the Emby user on the local server that was logged in at the time How to Post Log Files You can simply drag a file onto your post to attach it. Alternatively, you can upload your log file to Paste2 or a DropBox account and then post the link in your topic. Please avoid linking us to log files that require us to sign into a website. If the problem is occurring in the Emby Web app, please remove any custom CSS you may have created and see if the issue remains after that.1 point
