  5. I think I might have fixed it: App battery optimization, which is maybe what OP meant here. On my Pixel 8, I did Settings -> Apps -> App battery usage -> All apps -> Emby, set to unrestricted instead of optimized. Now it doesn't forget that it is playing and the notification stays responsive even when the app is closed midstream.

  6. Well it's a little surprising that they'd do it new years, given that this will force some developers to scramble. If you need immediate relief then you'll need to run the 4.8 beta server and see here: Or you can wait. We'll get a 4.7 compatible plugin update out soon and put an announcement out about it.

  8. I was just checking out Plex and noticed a feature in Music that I love (see screenshot). In Music when you open an Artist it shows popular songs. This comes in real handy when you don't know all the names of the songs or what albums they are on. Can we please add this to Emby? Thanks

  9. Hi, I’d love that audio and subtitles choice would be saved per show, according to what you select on the last episode you watched. The main audio/subtitles parameters is a good point but there are many cases it is not enough and you need to adjust audio and subtitles at the beginning of every episodes. For example i like to watch Casa de Pale in Spanish with french subtitles, The Big Bang Theory in English with french subtitles, French TV shows in french without subtitles, ....

  10. The Pseudo TV plugin is composed of two parts. The first part is based on a TV Tuner Platform created by @Luke. He called the plugin "VirtualTvExample." The second part is a Javascript program that provides a simple GUI for creating and adding channels to the TV Tuner. The code for both parts is attached below. I created the javascript code and several C# additions to the tuner. @TZTZorocomposed the CSS code. PseudoTV is open source and free for everyone to use. PseudoTv is tested on Chrome and Edge. Other browsers may work. I just don't know. To install PseudoTV, copy the plugin dll below to the EMBY plugin directory and RESTART EMBY. Follow the instructions below to bring up PseudoTV. Next add the TV Source for PseudoTV. If you have an Old PseudoTV Tuner installed, you must delete the old tuner before installing a new one. Select the PseudoTV Tuner to bring up the Channel Management menu. Use this menu to Add channels to the Emby EPG (Electronic Programming Guide). Click the Add Channel button to add a new channel. The two videos below, explain basic channel building. Querry-1.m4v The next video is also about channel building, but instead of using an Emby query, media is selected directly from the Emby libraries. File-1.m4v The remaining videos introduce the PseudoTV tool. The first is called the Library Explorer. With it you can navigate across your Emby libraries and view their contents. Libraryexplorer-1.m4v This video explains the Metadata Editor. Metadataeditor-1.m4v Another useful tool is the Playlist Editor. Playlisteditor1-1.m4v The description of the Playlist Editor is continued below. Playlisteditor2-1.m4v The latest plugin (dll) and the source code (zip file) are attached below: PseudoTV.dll PseudoTV.zip

  11. So, there's a known problem with FLAC audio and video playback on Samsung TVs, the audio is NOT supported but its playable so what happens is that you get an audio delay and the audio track will be out of synch for the whole movie. I'm trying to find a way to transcode the FLAC audio on my Emby Samsung TV app, but the app won't transcode it, it will direct play with the delay, is there a way to force the transcode without having to transcode the whole video? Like the app already does with DTS/HDMA for example, so u have the video on direct play and just the audio transcoded.. @SamES

  12. Hi, Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I couldn’t find anything. I’m really digging Emby, except for music ratings. Love/nothing (2 possibilities) isn’t enough for me. I would greatly prefer dislike/unrated/like/love (or the more traditional 5 point system). Any way of enabling this?

  14. Intel quicksync is king. Be it via video card with ARC or iGPU. iCPU is obviously cheaper as a 13100 will do a great job. Some people will harp about lack of AV1 when picking iGPU, but AV1 is such a non starter as encode times are insane, and hardware support for playback is still extremely limited. I run with a i5-1235u (yes a laptop) as my server and I will run out of network bandwidth before I run out of encode capabilities.

  16. Well, the container is in bridge mode, as I'm using a reverse proxy to be able to use it securely from the outside. I just read in another post (from 2021) that the upnp discovery doesn't work in bridge mode. I guess that's the reason. If there's a trick to make it work, I'll give it a try, if not, I'll live with it, as I said it's not a big deal. Thank you !

  19. Extract the dll into the plugins dir. You will need to set up your mappings, something like this: The report on the settings page will help with your mappings. The idea is add all your local classification ratings and then add all the ones you want to map to them. In the example above a ratting of MA will get changed to AU-MA and the PG will be changed to AU-PG. You can have multiple (comma seperated) items that will get updated to the target, in the above both MA and PG-13 will get mapped to AU-MA. You then just run the Task and the items will be updated. This is experimental, so I would not run it on a production system. I have done limited testing and it is working ok but feedback would be good. ClassificationMapper.zip

  20. A negligible improvement only - if it's a literal cpu replacement (pull out the old, drop in the new) then worth doing - but if it's a replacement of the entire system / a rebuild - then not worth it imo. A significant upgrade is to get the UHD 7xx GPU (in the i3/i5/i7 series 11 and above) - that integrated GPU will double/triple the number of transcodes vs the UHD 6xx.

  21. I suggest a change for future holidays, as 'christmas/holiday' can be found within my tags scraped from TMDB or IMDB, but none of those sites has "Holidays" or "Christmas" as genre, it's solely used as tag. No one is adding manually "Christmas" as genre, thus the question : "Is it a bug or a feature?"

  28. Also having this problem. If casting to a chromecast device, the Emby app "forgets" that it is playing the song. It seems time based, not anything else happening on the device. There is to way to interact with the playback other than going to Google Home and stopping the cast. Two attached images show the notification that the music is playing, but Emby thinks it is not playing. If I clock on the upper-left Emby icon on the notification, I just get my phone home screen.

  29. yeah agree, a direct mapping of US > AU ratings won't work a lot of the time. Example: Terminator 2 is rated 'R' in the US, yet it's only rated 'M' in AU (not even MA 15+) Look forward to seeing what you pull together, thanks @TeamB

  30. No necessarily. When you hold down the button, there is a built-in delay to simulate multiple key presses. It is possible that you can manually press the button multiple times, quicker than the delay. During playback, when you hold down the button the position marker on the timeline should move continuously and the movie should keep playing. Only when you release the button, then the movie should jump to the selected time. What model is your TV?

  31. Two weeks ago, @Lukegave me the correct GUI architecture and it was so simple that it went right over my head. He said all I have to do was to add the filters I need to the query string in the tuner. He was right and that just what I am doing in the new GUI. A simple example is below. I will mature the design over the next few days. Vic

  33. Where would emby even pull that information from though? Since the file name has no season or episode number in it. Either way, it should never prioritize a file like this over one in a season folder. This is one of the base flaws with the new extras design. They should never be in a pull down with the actual episode. It either hides the extras out of sight, or disorganizes them, like this.

  34. Its so inaccurate its just a waste of screen real estate. I would much rather have a longer list of latest movies or a way to configure whats listed there. Same for TV. A good example: Because you watched "Disney's Tangled" we recommend "Shaun of the Dead". Really?

  36. You can serve multiple http(s) sites on the same port so long as they have different names. The reverse proxy can separate them and proxy them to different servers. Obviously only one reverse proxy can be used on one port, but just adding Emby to the list of proxied websites is not a complication. In the early days of SSL this could not be done for secure sites (so very out-of-date web pages about it might say this), but later developments made it possible and indeed routine. Of course, if you try to connect 443 to Emby (running HTTPS itself) directly, without a proxy, you will block any other usage of it on the same machine - this might be the meaning of what you read. 37. If the source is held in a different folder then yes, just specify that folder. If they are all put in one folder then it's more difficult - you may be able to prefix the filename or something with the source in the name and differentiate that way.

  38. This will be in Emby Server 4.8. How it Works: This requires that you enable remembering audio and subtitle track selections. this is enabled by default. The server will first check if you've previously played the video file, just like before, and if it has then it will use your previous track selections If not, then it will look at your last played episode of the same series and attempt to use the same audio and subtitle selections. Essentially it will take the languages of the tracks and put these languages at the front of the language priority list.

  39. Thanks, this issue combined with the new UI pissed off wifey something fierce. She was like "There's now 12 clicks I gotta do to play the damn show, how is an upgrade?". Things are better now with the "Always show season folders" option.

  40. @CheesegeezerWould it be possible to add some button in Emby that would allow me to skip all the intros and just play a movie/tv show and then another one that would add the intros? I've found that sometimes I want all the extra trailers and intros, but other times I like them to be there. Just curious to see if this is possible. Thanks

  42. i would guess that those users represent a tiny % of the user base and decreasing based on topics over the years. More importantly, i made no comment on whether emby should be supporting this. but for the majority of users it is better to allow emby to transcode rather than prepare and store multiple versions of a file.

  46. @cayars: Great idea! @Luke: I would like to support the idea of cayars. It would be of great help to understand better which metadata are handled in which way by Emby Server. As you may remember I started a thread on IDtags some weeks ago ( ) - cayars effort to document the way Emby handles metadata might be helpful not only for ratings but also other metadata like - in my case - album artist (multiple entries). Have a nice weekend.
