There isn't currently, you need to edit your system.xml to remove SortRemoveWords and Refresh your libraries. A Refresh is needed to correct the SortTitle in the database. Hi, I know it is possible to put different Versions of a movie into same folder and give them behind the "-" different names for identification. I use this feature very often, also if a movie is in 3D, HD and 4K available. Sometimes also special Extended Versions, etc. I also use this Feature for Multi-Movie Boxes, like Tarantinos Grindhouse. (Grindhouse (2007) - Death Proof, Grindhouse (2007) - Planet Terror) which work great. But I noticed, that the Chapter List in the Grid View don't refresh, for the newly chosen file. Is it possible to implement this, that you see the chapter list of the selected version?7 It's not a big deal and not a nobrainer, but it would be more elegant if this could work. Especially if different Movie Versions have different Chapters.

Hello I am writing to express my concerns regarding a recurring issue with incomplete recordings. Unfortunately, I frequently encounter this problem, where recordings stop prematurely. To illustrate, I initiated three recordings yesterday. While two were successfully completed, one was unfortunately incomplete. This situation is quite frustrating, especially when one looks forward to a recorded show, only to find it cut short. Thank you for addressing this matter. embyserver.zip

Right now, episodes and movies that have any progress only have the ability to Mark Unplayed directly. There are multiple instances where an item may have progress but need to be marked as watched: The threshold for the library doesn't cover that particular episode or movie The show or movie is something that someone watches or rewatches often but does not care about finishing if interrupted An episode is started and then the watcher realized they have actually seen that episode already Currently, the only solution is to mark as Unplayed and then mark as Played. While this is not terrible from the episode or movie detail page, it is particularly frustrating from Continue Watching. First episodes and movies will drop off the Continue Watching section immediately which means they must then be searched for to correctly mark as played (it is also worth mentioning that back to back calls for the same item for Unplayed and Played sometimes collide on very large libraries). Ideally, there would be a button in the context menu for Mark Played for in-progress items on both Home and in the detail page.

@Luke - I plan to send you an early code drop next week to get your opinion on the GUI. I have kept the flow as you directed. I think you will like it. If not then I will change it. And I've asked: since in your screenshot thumbnail was obstructed so Played mark couldn't be seen and you've made it sound as if it applies to all in-progress items. As per your second screenshot: yes, you are talking about already watched/marked Played items in progress (in other words: a re-watch), as said: There's Played buton, in your scenario click it twice and it'll be marked Played again with progress bar cleared.

Yea it could just be someone who found you via port scanner. Using a different port from the default as well as making sure your users have passwords, and hiding them from login screens are good steps to take.

Yes I did use Dolby vision and it works well also I should mention no buffering at all. Of course key here is to have an up to date router helps at least wifi 6 does help which is what I use. I do not have wifi 6e. But with wifi 6 smooth. i should also mention there have been several updates to the stick since it was introduced and has helped. Bryan

Glad to see other folks want similar functionality! Going to keep this one open as in some use cases (mine as an example), I have multiple libraries of the same media kind serving different purposes that should still be represented on collections.

One of those suggested things to check identified the problem. The tuner had stopped working. Should have checked that first! Downloaded new WinTV software and drivers an the tuner started working again! Thanks very much for your help.

So it turns out my dedicated IP in the VPN app was not configured. Once I finished setting it up, I was good to go. I can now confirm first hand, that PIA does work for Emby on a Starlink network. Thank you both for helping me out.

Google a free, simple program called "Mp3Tag". It will do exactly what you need, with multiple mp3 files at a time, without having to convert your audiobook.

Not to raise an old thread. But just dropping in here that after installing the plugins (I got them all because I believe in supporting this community) I had to run a library scan, just as Luke said, before theme songs/videos would start working.

Ok..I removed tv shows & started fresh with my libraries everything is updating fine so far..right now I've come up last to tv shows cuz it's my largest collection..will see what happens overnight & I'll get back to you tomorrow with a fresh log report...wait something just happened...scanning stopped after 91%..right at 163 items in tv shows..something is causing it to stop

Yes you’re right for embedded SSA/ASS subtitle. But unfortunately, it is not the case for external SSA/ASS subtitles. It is shown with small arial font. It would be just perfect if we could activate this option to resolve this problem. Loving the Emby for android 3.3.51 interface (good job by the way!! )

@videopalace Thanks for the info. So I set up both http ports to 38695 and both https ports 8920. I set the https ports to 8920, because that's what they were before. I still can't view remotely, but I did find a tab under my PIA app that says "Protocols". It shows my current port at the top right as "38695", yet under remote port on the Protocols setting as "8080". That port has a drop down menu that lets me change it to "8080, 853, 123, or 53". None of those match the port 38695, which is being shown as my current port available. So that might be one part of my problem. ports.bmpPIA.bmp

Hi, that could be a great fonctionnality and will feet Unraid server like a charm (cold storage + cache) i guess it would be something that can work as follow: define the size of the cache same option than for download feature select what you want to download to the cache and rules (latest etc...) if cache full, erase less recent files emby server sets a flag to a video in in the cache and uses the cache to provide stream by this way, this feature could maintain HDD in spindown more often regards

Group by item type in collections is also #49 on this list to make the standard Android app as good as the Android TV app.

What is it that you do not understand? I have had Emby for several years and streamed movies from my desktop to my 3 televisions for those years. That worked until November 2023. In December 2023 (this year) it stopped working. Since then I have re-installed Emby a few times and it always worked on my desktop pc. But it still did not work on my televisions. It always asks for my password and rejects it everytime. I have reset my password a few times this month and it rejects it everytime. It recognizes me on the desktop (shows my name) and it knows my email address since it sends me emails and all of this information shows up on the dash board. The firewall has been reset per Emby's directions and suggestions. The re-installations shows Emby in my programs. But double clicking on that shows no response at all. So, if you have any additional valid suggestions please let me know. But read lines 3, 4,an 5 of this response before asking me another question that has already been answered.

Hi Luke, So I'm still having problems with some channels not playing but sometimes when go into the app setting and change the internet quality it works for while but then it channels stops again lol

yeah, it changes every 4 hours. this is not embys problem

So long as at least one of the instances is NOT set to save metadata with the media, there should be no conflict. Emby does not mess with the media files themselves. Paul

No, you are requesting hand holding. If you really wanted to know what was going on, you would install the Beta yourself and see where it is. As it stands, most people who ask these questions refuse to go the Beta route. I helped with the Beta testing back when there was adding of tonemapping, and it was a lot of back and forths and fixes and refixes and OMG why isn't this working. Patience is a virtue. As for your quip of "we paid for the license" you haven't been deprived your current version of Emby. All you've been "deprived of" is the update that everyone is whining and complaining about while forgetting that people are testing it every single day to ensure that it works and that it works properly. All they see is your negativity, nothing more. This isn't a simple update from my understanding. It's like going from horse and carriage to rockets. Believe it or not, the dev team owes you nothing. You have a fully functional product already. You're complaining about features that you didn't even know would exist if it wasn't for this forum. And I'll say this about updates, they need to be quiet as in the past competitors have stolen ideas before the team could fully implement them. Do you complain about when the next version of Office will be out? The next version of Windows or MacOS? How about the next update to your phone or tablet? Stop being a self entitled child and let the dev team do what they do best. The more they have to come here to answer these stupid questions, the less time they have to do work. Luke has already said it will be the holiday season, which will run from December to the first week of January.

When you're got Up Next turned on, when you get to the end of an episode, it will give you a prompt to immediately play the next episode or to cancel the next episode playing entirely. If you choose to immediately play the next episode, it will, and that works great. However, it looks like this doesn't do anything for the episode you just played - if it hit your played progress threshold, it will be marked as played. If it didn't, it will not. For episodes that are 10 minutes long, a threshold of 95 isn't enough to consider the previous episode as watched, if you click start now on the next episode right away. Change the threshold you say? Well then what about 40 minute shows? Use a differnet library? Sure, could do. But doesn't it make sense to mark the previous episode as watched, even if it hasn't reached the threshold, if you've been presented with the Up Next interface and specifically said yes? You need to ensure the mounts are owned by the emby user and group. To mount as a user, you need to use CIFS 3.0. I recommend not having writeable guest shares because your data can get locked up by randsomware on any device on your network, protect them with user/pass. Here are instructions to do all of that: First, determine the uid and groupid of your emby user: # Get the emby user's uid: id -u emby # Get the emby user's gid: id -g emby In my example, my emby user was uid 1000, and my emby gid was also 1000. Your's may be different. Then create mount directories for your shares and chown them to emby. Examples of my own commands: # make the directories and give permission for emby to manipulate them mkdir -p /mnt/movies chown emby:emby /mnt/movies mkdir -p /mnt/tv_shows chown emby:emby /mnt/tv_shows mkdir -p /mnt/Music chown emby:emby /mnt/Music mkdir -p /mnt/EmbyData chown emby:emby /mnt/EmbyData If you've already created your mount locations, check that they're the right ownership by using ls -lha. Example: # this will show all the owners of directories and files in my /mnt directory: ls -lha /mnt Here's an example of my own /etc/fstab on Ubuntu 20.04. Make sure your uid and gid matches the values you determined above. Also, use cifs version 3 so that it can be mounted as a particular user (that's missing in your fstab example above): //192.168.10.122/movies /mnt/movies cifs vers=3.0,credentials=/root/.credentials,guest,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8 0 0 //192.168.10.122/tv_shows /mnt/tv_shows cifs vers=3.0,credentials=/root/.credentials,guest,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8 0 0 //192.168.10.122/Music /mnt/Music cifs vers=3.0,credentials=/root/.credentials,guest,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8 0 0 //192.168.10.122/EmbyData /mnt/EmbyData cifs vers=3.0,credentials=/root/.credentials,guest,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8 0 0 A text file located at /root/.credentials is like follows, with the user-pass for the network share. I store mine in the /root directory so that regular user can't know the credentials:: username=YOUR_USERNAME password=YOUR_PASSWORD_FOR_SHARE I use a synology NAS, so I needed to make sure that the username configured in /root/.credentials exists, and that each of the shares is accessible by the given samba user. The NAS user needs read/write access so it can write metadata to the media directories. Finally, run the following: # Mount all the shares right away, defined in /etc/fstab. This will be automatic next reboot. sudo mount -a Troubleshooting: Ensure you have samba-common installed: # ensure samba-common is installed so that samba mounts can be performed sudo apt-get install samba-common Test your mounts manually with smblclient, with increased verbosity, to find out what's going wrong when mounting them. Documentation on smbclient.

If you have a some good photo files for testing that contain a range of iptc/exif/xmp metadata, then please zip them up and attach them here and I'll make sure Emby Server supports reading all of the embedded information. Thanks !
