There is a simple solution for that. Adjust the library settings for resuming playback. In particular, the “min resume duration” (titles shorter than this will not be resumable). I usually set that over 5 minutes which covers all of my music videos. Then anything in that library under 5 min (all of them) don’t show up in continue watching even if I have the latest displayed on the Home Screen.3 points

@TheFreeManand @quickmicThank you both for your answers. I now understand how it all works. As I was afraid of, I was over thinking the whole process. Once I finish replacing a couple of HDD's in my server and make sure the nfo and image files for my music library are in the proper place, I will do the switch over to Emby. Thank you again so much. I truly do appreciate it.2 points

Feature request for Auto Box Sets & the Emby server to show missing collection items / placeholder images for what we don't have that is part of a collection. http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/22732-auto-box-sets-show-missing-collection-items/ Thanks, hoping to see it worked out.1 point

While Emby already has recommendations built in based on previously watched items I find they are not all that helpful. They seem to be based on genre only, for example, because you watched a comedy here are other comedies in your library. I do like how the also directed by/appear in recommendations work though. What would be great is if Emby could incorporate Trakt's recommendations as they are much more sophisticated. Trakt's recommendations are not only based off of what you have previously watched but also what your Trakt friends and other Trakt users have watched. It takes user ratings and trending/popular media into account. Ideally Emby would include full Trakt integration allowing users to rate media after watching, view lists and recommendations, and view upcoming media all from within Emby but for now I think recommendations would be a nice addition. Trakt has the potential to give Emby that community feel and allow users to discover new media, find something to watch, and recommend media to other users. http://docs.trakt.apiary.io/#reference/recommendations1 point

It would be useful if the server (or perhaps clients) could cache most (if not all) content images (posters, backdrops, logos, etc) for movies, TV series and seasons. This would mainly be of benefit when a portion of someone's content is offline but the users would still like to view the content to know what exists. I think caching on the server would be preferable, then all clients could make use of the same cached images. if you think this would be a useful feature, please click the "Like This" button on this post.1 point

Hey Emby Team, I've tried looking for this to see if it was a requested feature, but couldn't. I know there's a way to limit concurrent streams. Is there a way to implement a feature that limits how many devices a user can add? It might require them to manage connected devices overall, not sure if that's already a thing.1 point

Thanks for the follow up, Luke! It works really well and it's really nice to be able to see what song just started playing while the screensaver is enabled! You know, I think music playback is one of the great underrated features of Emby. Particularly so on the Apple TV 4K, where there really aren't many options for folks looking for a nice music player geared toward local file playback. Thanks again for all the effort you continue to put in!1 point

Why?? I do not understand this conversation at all. Emby is/was a Media Management Solution first. If people want a pure offline capability w/o internet then they can always turn to Kodi with MySQL centralized db for watch status sync. I have been a long-time Emby Lifetime user, and I exclusively use Kodi as my front end on my shield devices in my local LAN. Remotely, I use the Emby App which obviously requires an internet connection at the server level at the house with transcoding on my GPU. Why bother using Emby if you always want to be in the local LAN with no internet? Strange to blame Emby when other solutions are available at NO COST to do what you want. All metadata / images / eye-candy requires the internet anyway even if you are offline and ripped your own blurays. You need to get images from "somewhere". I smell a rat somewhere, there is no good faith in this conversation when there are other mature solutions available for your needs. Heck Kodi, with centralized mysql has become so easy nowadays, why are you are bothering with EMBY then? Yes, i go back to the WMC with MediaBroswer days. Emby was designed to be Media Management and EyeCandy first. The playback app came much later.1 point

Buenas tardes, resuelto en la versión beta de Emby Server 4.8.0.62..Gracias @Luke1 point

It's standard issue equipment provided by my ISP (Virgin Media, Hub 3). It's quite poor by all accounts when you want to go beyond simple everyday use, but it def did work up until recently. It's possible they've updated the firmware recently, there's no way to check via the router control panel. @darkassassin07yeah I've a feeling you're right, my hunch is equipment problems here. I've a service engineer schedule a call out in two weeks, so I won't know more until then. Phone support went through the basic checks and felt an engineer call was warranted. Thanks for the pointers folks, hopefully the hunch is right and it's an equipment problem. I'll update when I know more!1 point

Thank you very much for helping. I will listen to your advice. I will continue to use emby, the nerd stats say dolby (direct). that's fine. Thanks and good job1 point

You can get certificates for free, you know, and programs (such as the web server / reverse proxy called Caddy) which will do even that for you automatically, and keep them renewed automatically. Paul1 point

@Luke For information, with new TVos 17.2 and internal player, always same delay ( audio is before video)1 point

It's not exactly simultaneous usage - a device which is counted stays counted for about a week, and then drops out. Paul1 point

Discovered that deactivating the non working Trakt add-on has quite fixed the sluggish interface. I'll investigate later if there is a way to get that add-on to work properly, for now I'll just uninstall it1 point

I removed some plugin and deleted them thru web interface looks like that help.. Thx1 point

Thanks! That did it. I've also noticed that TV Shows no longer display the title in the upper left hand side of the screen when you're on the tile view of shows.1 point

That tells me NAT hairpinning is not functional on your network. That's why you're typical remote test from within lan isn't working, while regular wan connections are. Why hairpinning isn't working I'm not sure. You'll have to look into your router config for that.1 point

@Mohammedz Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!1 point

Yes, but then it acts like an extra and you have to navigate down, find the trailer and click on it. How it should work is if you have a LOCAL stored "real" trailer, not YouTube garbage, then hitting the trailer button should play the local trailer and avoid YouTube altogether. So basically locally stored trailers are useless and YouTube trailers are useless. So for now, at least for me, trailers in emby are not worth messing with. I have a bunch stored offline hoping someday they'll be usable. How locally trailers SHOULD work is like Netflix....when you select a movie and go to it's info page if there is a locally stored trailer it should play in the background.....now that would be slick and it could be optional too.1 point
-
do we have an option to not use yt and only use local trailers, is there a different source we could use?1 point
-
no - you need to manually install. put the linked (unzipped) file in your plugins folder in the programdata folder1 point

Great thanks @jaycedk, Would you perhaps know where I can find the what NetCore SDK the latest beta uses, I have been able to at least trick my dev environment into using the same as the beta's Media.Controllers but seems to be failing on trying to ref the System.Private.Corlib (6.0.0.0). On linux... Doesn't help1 point
-
It is kind of strange that the industry nerver created an "offcial" source for trailers. There is an audience that basically goes "Hey, Movie-Industry we'd really like to see your commercials at home" and they go "sorry, we spend millions on the advertising campaign for our product but we're only going to show it on this one for-profit service that is really restrictive with where you can watch our ads".1 point

Every single one of those programs violates youtubes TOS. Emby is trying to stay above board as it were. They will only have access to what youtube allows or deal with legal pressure from YouTube.1 point

I've updated the first post with a zip file containing the plugin recompiled for emby server 4.8. Thanks guys.1 point

Well since this is on Github, I can publish a compatibility update for the 4.8 beta server. I can't take over all development for this, so the developer will still need to support the actual features. Thanks everyone.1 point

This issue makes the android app unusable imo. If pip is accidentally enabled, the tube completely gives up and you manually need to restart it by powering it off.1 point

It would be nice if there was even a way to move all the files from one location to another. I have quite a large media collection, and would love to move the artwork off my UnRaid array and onto the SSDs that host the Emby Docker, as there is some lag when Emby fires up due to it needing to spin up all the drives for the artwork. The Docker is fine speed wise, just no artwork. It would be a huge pain in the ass to delete all the artwork and then rescrape.... As sometimes the default artwork is not ideal... PLEASE make a move button?1 point
