  1. Adding a date to the folder name worked! I have it with my films and regular shows but not with my anime collection. Problem resolved, thank you Grim!

  2. The Album Artist pages are also my favourite Emby Music pages and adding a "Members" section similar to "Cast & Crew" for Movies would potentially take Emby Music Libraries to another whole level of functionality. My thoughts are that a "Related Artists" section with direct internal cross-linking (where possible) to the relevant existing "Related Artist" pages would be a great way to browse across a large music library. Music bands could show the band members and individual artists could show the bands they have been in, e.g.: The Beatles Related Artists: George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul, McCartney, Ringo Starr. George Harrison Related Artists: Delaney & Bonnie, The Beatles, The Traveling Wilburys. This information is available in MusicBrainz directly under the Relationships tab so could potentially be auto-populated by Emby. If this was a step too far for Emby to implement, then at least having a "Related Artists" section that could have user manually entered info and internal links would be a very good step in the right direction. When browsing it would be a fun journey to go through (e.g.): The Beatles - George Harrison - The Traveling Wilburys - Jeff Lynne - ELO in just 4 clicks/taps. I am currently experimenting with setting this up with Tags by tagging an "Artist" with the "Related Artists" and it does work to some extent, though it means scrolling down the Artist page to the Tags section and then going through the immediate Tag page to get to the Related Artist page. For this method to work well it also requires tagging an Artist as themselves so they show up properly in all the relevant Related Artist Tag pages. Another downside is the tagged info is then used (I think) by Emby for the "More Like This" section - which is not always relevant to the relationship. I think this is a great way of browsing/exploring a large music collection and also discovering unknown artist relationships and potentially new music. It would be interesting to know what other music fans think.

  3. "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game Is forever bad” Shigeru Miyamoto It will be ready, when it's ready. Or would the community prefer a buggy POS that deletes all your files or makes your system explode, or worse? I can't believe the amount of people whining about it taking so long.

  4. Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless

  5. I love the individual artists pages for bands but there is a number of things lacking that i believe would be a welcome to the artists pages and give it much more content if it could be done, that's if i ain't missing anything that i can already do or activate via settings or anything. We currently have Songs Albums Appears on Music videos More like this How about the following Members - Shows you individual photos of past & present members kind like the cast a crew section of movies but let's me know who the vocalist, drummer, bassist is and who is a past member Videos - I'm talking movies based upon an artist, promo video compilations, documentaries, live gigs and other types of dvd's, bluerays and videos, how about a section like Music Videos that shows any music dvd's you happen to have in your library that features the said artist. Photos - How about being able to show photos of artists if you have any, a number of bands i do have a few photos and whilst i do have a media library specifically for home video and photos it would be cool to visit a bands page and see a scroll able left and right gallery of photos depending on how many you have. Yes i can search for an artist and it brings up a few options like top results, albums, artists, people, photos, movies and so on but having it on the artist page would be good if it wouldn't be too cluttered and could work? Just a few ideas mind

  6. Online radio stations and even IRL ones mitigate repetition of music through the use of rules. You can specify that a song/artist/album can only be played once during any given "x hours/days". Can it be integrated into Emby itself? This would be a great solution to the repetitive use of the same handful of episodes/movies in Playlists / Shuffle and VirtualTV, so we get a better mix of content. As a last resort, an optional rule within shuffle/playlists could include "only play an episode/show/movie/music if it hasn't played in "X' amount of time". Thanks!

  8. If you don't have a test environment nor the time, then that's a you problem and people in that situation would be best suited to just sit back and wait for those people who have the time and the resources, to do the work they volunteered for, without complaining that it's taking too long. Yet here we are with entitled children demanding answers and thinking everyone who's telling them to be paitent is attacking them personally.

  9. I've been having this issue lately where Emby doesn't seem to be able to find new titles when added to a folder Specifically i'm adding new episodes of a TV show to the season's folder, telling it to scan, but it doesn't find the new episodes Even more specifically i'm trying to add the recent Doctor Who specials to my Doctor Who > Specials Folder, some of them are working, but others are not showing up at all For instance, this is the name of an episode that Emby was able to find.: Doctor.Who.2005.S14.special.Wild.Blue.Yonder.mkv but this one is not being detected by emby at all: Doctor.Who.2005.S14.special.The.Star.Beast.mkv I tried restarting emby as well, and then it stopped finding the WIld Blue Yonder episode, but was able to find The Star Beast one now. Really confused as to what is going on here

  10. I just wanted to express my sincere thanks for your guidance. Upon reviewing the permissions for my Emby user, I discovered that indeed, the issue was related to these settings. Adjusting the permissions resolved the problem with the manual subtitle downloads. Additionally, your explanation about the automatic download settings was very insightful. I now understand how the options for 'Forced subtitles only' and 'Skip if embedded subtitles are found' could limit the automatic downloads. This has been a learning experience for me. Thank you once again for your prompt and effective support. It's greatly appreciated! Best regards,

  11. Believe I figured it out with some creative renaming. Possibly because of the similar names it was thinking that they were the same files but different versions of the same file, for different languages or such. as I realized that when i clicked into the one showing up in Emby it has a section to choose if I wanted to watch the version that was "WIld.blue.yonder" or "star.beast"

  12. PLENTY of GOOD apps out there for that. Emby should stick to handling videos and music.

  14. I've figured it out, changed my approach and used Jinja. Converted the json to string then counted the genre word, and divided by two because Genres and GenreTypes is in the list. It works for now at least! rest: - resource: http://{ip}:{port}/Items?recursive=true&ParentId={libraryid}&Fields=Genres&api_key={api} method: GET scan_interval: 3600 sensor: - name: "{name}" value_template: '{{ (value_json | string).count("{Genre}") / 2 | int }}'

  16. While I was used to the second one, I think that you're right and the emby one is more accurate. We can see more clouds details while the not emby one seem burned

  17. I completely agree. A while back Emby had a period where they would frequently release new versions, and it was not a good time. It got so bad I would not installing anything without first waiting on forum comments on the release.

  18. OK, thank you for the reply. I'm also using native mode and can't get boxsets to work. Maybe I will try a clean install but version 8.x is working in case of Initial boxset sync.

  21. Which is pretty upsetting as we paid the license for most of us (I think). Transparency between work ongoing and final client is really a problem on this application. If I'm not mistaken, no Trello, no post explaining clearly why it is taking so much time and so one... "When it is ready" is funny 2 - 3 times but all other companies I know are able to provide an approximate ETA for all their stuff. (Even if the team is late on their provided ETA, at least we know it and we receive some communication about it...)

  22. OK, I hear you and interprets that as "It might work, but you are on your own". That's OK, I understand. I took a brake and read your comment and did some more googling and found this commands for installing the NVIDIA official driver another way than the .run file I used earlier. sudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://developer.download.nvidia.com/compute/cuda/repos/rhel8/x86_64/cuda-rhel8.repo sudo dnf clean all sudo dnf -y module install nvidia-driver:latest-dkms sudo dnf -y install cuda And that worked like a charm and everything passed successfully.

  23. This is an interesting idea that may have benefit to many users, me included (but possibly on a limited basis?). In my use case I have 1700+ Album Artists (so far) of which 70+ have between 20 and 110 albums. The rest have less than 20 albums. So for 5% of my Album Artists the groupings would be very worthwhile, but for the rest it probably wouldn't matter greatly. I like the categories that have been suggested, i.e.: Studio Albums Singles / EPs Live Albums Compilations This seems to be very common amongst online music database sources. Invariably there would always need to be an "Other" Category as a catch-all for everything that didn't fit well within the defined categories. Off-hand I can think of: Soundtracks, Music Videos, Bootlegs, Unreleased Albums, FM Broadcasts, Box Sets, Deluxe Editions, Remasters. The list goes on...! Using a user-defined Emby "Release Type" tag does have some merit, I think. Then every user can determine what release types best suit their own music collection. It could be as simple or complex, as required. And, it would only need to be used by those who wanted to. Emby could allow Albums to be sorted/filtered by Release Type and/or have the option of showing the Release Type underneath the Album Cover picture. E.g. ... / Settings / Show Fields / Release Type / Live At the moment if Albums are Emby tagged (e.g) as "Live" it is also possible to view all the Albums on an Album Artist page and then filter by the "Live" tag without going to the Tags tab. That way you can see all the "Live" Albums of the Artist at 1 level down on the Artist page. I know that is not what @MindBulletis suggesting. I was just interested in trying to find another possible (easy!) workaround to get a viable option. Anyway, it's a good suggestion and has got me thinking about new and better ways to organise my music!

  24. one thing for sure, 4.8 stable will never see the light this year (again) as month of December usually quites down everything on emby dev side (observation from previous years pattern) may stretch as long as March next year

  27. @LukeThat is an interesting theory. I checked all the tags using another tool: id3v2 -l 01\ Trust\ Game.mp3 id3v1 tag info for 01 Trust Game.mp3: Title : Trust Game Artist: Toadies Album : Feeler Year: 2010, Genre: Unknown (255) Comment: Track: 1 id3v2 tag info for 01 Trust Game.mp3: TIT2 (Title/songname/content description): Trust Game TRCK (Track number/Position in set): 1/9 TPOS (Part of a set): 1/1 TCON (Content type): Rock (17) APIC (Attached picture): ()[, 3]: image/jpeg, 118146 bytes PRIV (Private frame): (unimplemented) TYER (Year): 2010 TPE1 (Lead performer(s)/Soloist(s)): Toadies TALB (Album/Movie/Show title): Feeler Lyrics were omitted. Seems that both V1 and V2 tags are human readable. I posted on stackoverflow. Will report back if it goes anywhere.

  28. @jgauthieryour audio file probably has more than one version of id3 tags embedded, and ffprobe is probably reading a different version than what you're writing. It's best to use tag writing software that will write to all possible versions, such as mp3tag. Does this help you?

  29. Hi, there's already an open request for this or something functionally equivalent. Please join in and contribute to the existing discussion at: Additionaly, IIRC Theater Store (Windows) already has that feature.

  30. Though it generally should work, you still might wanna read through: Movie Naming TV Naming Not quite: you always have to create a local user on your server, which you can then optionally link to an existing Connect account, basically allowing that user to login with his Connect credentials (and without knowing server address). Emby Connect

  31. Hello, I would really like to see this added as soon as possible and added a feature request: For me this is the most important feature missing from Emby. Without offline support for downloaded files the Carplay integration is useless for me.

  32. 6 years later still no 265 or av1 live transcoding options. Just softworks acting like a douchebag and Carlos making long winded excuses. This would benefit SO MANY people and nearly ANY and ALL WAN streaming use cases. How about instead of spending so much effort arguing with your users, you put a little effort into giving them what they're asking you for? If you offered this, nobody would have any reason to use jellyfin. Why is this so hard to comprehend for you? I'm becoming irritated by this team's attitude and lack of respect for the community. I am considering moving to jellyfin due to this factor alone, forget thier superior streaming capabilities and the fact they are listening to their users... Softworks in particular is creating a very bad image for Emby and should be banned from using the forum all together. It's like reading trumps tweets.

  33. It'll be released when it's ready. All efforts are supposed to be just on debugging now rather than new features - but (following the security issue) also on getting the new password and login system into place. Paul

  34. The handling of selection by genre would be improved if you enabled both AND as well as OR logic. Example: Keith Jarrett - Jazz, Piano Bill Evans - Jazz, Piano Elton John - Rock, Piano Ben Folds - Rock, Piano Glenn Gould - Classical, Piano Vladimir Horowitz - Classical, Piano There is no apparent way to select a genre subset that is Jazz AND Piano rather than Jazz OR Piano, and thereby select only the first two.

  35. No, you are requesting hand holding. If you really wanted to know what was going on, you would install the Beta yourself and see where it is. As it stands, most people who ask these questions refuse to go the Beta route. I helped with the Beta testing back when there was adding of tonemapping, and it was a lot of back and forths and fixes and refixes and OMG why isn't this working. Patience is a virtue. As for your quip of "we paid for the license" you haven't been deprived your current version of Emby. All you've been "deprived of" is the update that everyone is whining and complaining about while forgetting that people are testing it every single day to ensure that it works and that it works properly. All they see is your negativity, nothing more. This isn't a simple update from my understanding. It's like going from horse and carriage to rockets. Believe it or not, the dev team owes you nothing. You have a fully functional product already. You're complaining about features that you didn't even know would exist if it wasn't for this forum. And I'll say this about updates, they need to be quiet as in the past competitors have stolen ideas before the team could fully implement them. Do you complain about when the next version of Office will be out? The next version of Windows or MacOS? How about the next update to your phone or tablet? Stop being a self entitled child and let the dev team do what they do best. The more they have to come here to answer these stupid questions, the less time they have to do work. Luke has already said it will be the holiday season, which will run from December to the first week of January.
