As @MBSkisaid, name your TV show folder The Land Before Time (2007). Name episodes (adding prefix SxxEyy) as per: putting respective DVD episodes into appropriate season folders. Scan media library>Edit Metadata once identified/imported>change Display order to "DVD order">Refresh metadata.2 points

All great ideas - but this FR is simply to alert the user - tested during the initial setup wizard - that they are likely running behind CGNAT and Emby Remote Access is unlikely to work 'out of the box'. We can point them to the emby CGNAT support page at this point if they wish to investigate further. It's just about managing the customer experience - otherwise people will naturally think emby 'doesn't work' when it is infact something 'emby' unfortunately can't do anything about.2 points

I think the dev/release cycle is long enough without trying to add the complexity of dealing with more network connectivity layers and challenges. Adding features to proxy, punch through, bypass or even 3rd party integration with such products also requires more time and effort to insure no security holes are created as a result. I do like the proposed idea of built-in (or plug-in) checkers. Not just for networking and CGNAT but for other common issues that people encounter in their configurations. Library and file access, permissions, locations, etc. And one big one that I think is a missed opportunity - User account settings, access, passwords, etc. By this I mean a checker to show accounts with conflicting and/or risky settings. A basic security check with recommendations for users not familiar with security or not aware of the risks.2 points

Singular reason: I don't have to login to Emby Corp to use my Emby server. None who access my Emby server have to login to Emby Corp either. Is that still one reason?2 points

Hi, I would love to have tautulli or equivalent for emby. Especially for people coming from plex, we would love to see something like tautulli. I know there are a few Statistic plugins but i think we all know there is nothing like tautulli out there. I love the way i see people currently watching movies on my server and the details of what is transcoding etc. i know emby also shows ppl watching movies but it isn't the same. I don't get a notification or even see a icon if someone starts to play while i have the emby page open. There is no icon that shows me someone is watching a movie. Tautulli is also open source so if someone has the skills in python to make it work for emby, this would be amazing. For me this is actually really the only reason I hesitate to switch completely. maybe someone can make this happen1 point

-= PLEASE UP VOTE & PROMOTE THIS REQUEST IF YOU WOULD LIKE THIS FEATURE =- DO THIS BY CLICKING THE "LIKE" BUTTON ON THIS POST REQUEST: Properly pool multiple M3u IPTV sources, so when adding more than one with the exact same M3u emby treats them as one source with however many "Concurrent Streams" you set for each. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/63725-multiple-iptv-tuners-double-channels/?p=636718 https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/59607-duplicate-channels-one-tuner/?p=607031 https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/57420-multiple-identical-m3u-tuners-without-duplicate-channels/?p=560949 Basically once M3u #1 has used all 5 of its tuners, I then need to start using the login info that is within M3u #2... once those 5 tuners are used (now all 10 tuners), then emby issues "no tuners available". This is how emby treats HDhomeruns today, so it can't be to difficult. @@snodrog742 @@manolodf @@robrhedrick @@cayars1 point

As I'm transitioning from Volumio and Plex to Emby to centralize my usage to one app, the one thing I'm missing the most is gapless playback. This is particulary annoying when listening to albums like "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. I'm experiencing a buffer of about 1 second in between songs, which really ruins the immersion. Would be awesome if this would be implemented in both the Chromecast, and web player.1 point

It could rotate or something, like in the theater Of coarse it would have to be able to be turned off I suppose for people who don't like the idea.1 point

My request is to be able to chose to add items to the home screen. Specifically in my case, I am thinking of playlists and collections. Here's some reasons I'd like to see this: The home screen is the first piece of the user interface a person will see when they pull up Emby. I often places movies in bulk into my media library. This sometimes means people never see the new movie I've made available. Happens a lot, actually. While all movies are searchable or can be found by sorting, I believe the interface would benefit from having the customization option. I have created a "Justin Recommends" collection and would LOVE to be able to put that on the home screen. By keeping this optional, no one is forced to use it. If you don't have a use-case, then it's just a feature. If you look at things like Netflix, many movies and shows get "featured" and by doing that, a lot of people end up watching that wouldn't otherwise (imagine if The Tiger King was just another buried documentary you had to hunt for, no one would have heard of it). I appreciate your time. If you've considered this before and decided against for reasons other than difficulty implementing the feature, I'd ask you to reconsider. I believe that being able to customize our servers helps us personalize and tailor them to our audience and our needs, and that helps promote a feeling of ownership. I also truly believe that this small change could lead to some powerful results. In my case, I know that it would be of huge benefit to accomplishing what I would like to do with my Emby server. Thank you.1 point

Pretty simple suggestion. I have multiple users for my Emby server. If I want to do continuous maintenance on the media, I have to tell everyone. some of them are harder to reach than others ( i.e. no Facebook or Skype chat etc. ) It would be great if say... on the admin panel, I could hit a check box that enables 'maintenance mode', where the server still runs does everything as normal, but instead of the login screen it displays a maintenance page saying the server is unavailable. Even better if I were able to directly put a reason in a text box that would then display on the login screen as well. Not really sure what others would think of this, but for me it would be quite helpful. mostly if I want to make sure no one is trying to access content I know won't work until I've done a full library scan again. Thanks for reading. -Kyle1 point

With College Football and NFL seasons starting up in the States, a multi-screen option for Live TV would be a nice addition to the Emby feature set. I am thinking of what the WatchESPN app offers thru their Web Browser access. The ability to open a multi-screen window that breaks into four (4) screens that allows you to select streams (Live or Replay) for each and then go full screen. Audio is from whichever of the four screens you have as active. I can accomplish the same right now with the HDHomeRun Quick View TV app. I open multiple instances of the Windows app and then snap them to each corner on my 110" projector screen. Equivalent of four (4) 55" screens. Would be nice if this were a remote friendly option from within Emby Theater and the WebUI clients. I have only seen it in Web Browsers at the moment and not any of the Win10 UWP apps (FS GO, NBCSn, WatchESPN). But, Fox Sports Go just released a multi-screen solution for their Apple TV app. https://techcrunch.com/2016/08/26/fox-sports-go-hits-apple-tv-allows-viewing-of-four-games-at-once/1 point

Hi, The current implementation of Emby search is very basic. Based on what I can tell, it only matches exact strings in the same exact order. Example: "Mission: Impossible" In this example the following queries will return a positive match Possible Impossible Mission Mission: Impossible And the following queries will not return anything at all (The worst offenders are highlighted) Mission Impossible Missoin: Imposible Imposible Impossible Mission Mission : Impossible Mission Impossible Another example would be "Mr. Robot" where if the dot is missing, nothing is returned or in general terms any variation of any string that is not an exact match will not return anything at all. Let's not even attempt to try a title like "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.". This makes the search difficult to use and at times even frustrating. As the examples above show, the major theme is special characters and punctuation and they can probably be bypassed by just ignoring them, which might or might not cause other problems in the process. This problem also affects titles that have letters with diacritical marks or glyphs such as "Amélie" and "Æon Flux", if you can't type them exactly, you can't find them. In my opinion a better attempt would be to use a difference string matching algorithm such as Levenshtein distance, you can then define an acceptable threshold and return the closest matches. I found a couple of C# projects that implement this and might be useful as a starting point. FuzzyWuzzy, a port of Python project in C#. https://github.com/BoomTownRoi/BoomTown.FuzzySharp FuzzyString. Has some additional string comparison algorithms too. https://github.com/kdjones/fuzzystring Thanks.1 point

Also, It would be cool if we have various m3u lists and have the option to choose/assign each m3u list for each user.. Example. In user settings we can choose which library to give them for VOD so this shouldnt be hard enough to do it for live tv too no? USER 1 - Playlist 1 - Playlist 2 - Playlist 3 USER 2 - Playlist 3 USER 3 - Playlist 1 - Playlist 3 Etc etc.... *** Delete this message from another topic I opened because I posted it by accident there1 point

I love music visualizations. I was thinking that a unique way to integrate visualizations in Emby would be to encode the audio with the video output of a visualizer like Milkdrop or ProjectM. The mux can then be streamed to clients as video (if the client has enabled music visualizations). Wouldn't that be cool? Sure, you sacrifice a little quality in the transcode but it would still be acceptable and by offloading the visualization to the server, even underpowered clients could potentially support visualizations that would be impossible given their hardware.1 point

I feel the following filter & sort options are lacking the following: * filter by HDR * sort by video bitrate * sort by audio bitrate * sort by filesize * filter by subtitle language * filter by audio channels * filter by audio language Anybody have anything they would like to add to this list?1 point

I like listening to my music through my roku/emby setup. However, I don't need to know how the artist is while listening. I was wondering if there is some way to set up a virtualization like on windows media player? I can wait and my roku will go to it's screen saver, but I would like to make a choice. Or even display the lyrics on screen, all of my music files have the lyrics embedded.1 point

I have a fairly large movie collection (5k+) starting with films from the 1920's and in the absence of "smart" playlists how about a filter by decade option? Filtering by year works, but if I want to watch something from say the 1950's I have to start navigating from the 1930's and work my up to the 1950's which is quite a few number of pages. Another option might be to have Years running vertically much like the alphabet when viewing by title.1 point

Don't know how many of you know what PseudoTV is on Kodi but basically it is a plugin that allows you to create an EPG full of your own custom TV channels using your entire media library into one big channel surfing experience on your library. Emby, I believe, would be amazing for this and really make it stand out if something like this was official supported as the only support for something like this is a little plugin on Kodi. Features: Create custom TV channels using smart filters (e.g. 500 random movies that are from 2010 and newer and genre is Horror, 25 random tv episodes that are from Fox network). Allow creation of an unlimited number of channels using these filters and assign them channel numbers Automatically generate an EPG/TV Guide using all of these custom channels and randomly assign the scheduled program at a specific time Allow sorting of the channel shows (random, in order, asc, desc) Allow channels like FX to play both TV shows from FX but also incorporate movies at specific time periods like primetime movies Allow trailers to play in between shows as well as Channel Bumpers/intro videos Allow integration with Live TV using PVR Allow YouTube channels, USTVNOW, Playon perhaps? Ability to add a logo to your custom channels Background updating that would auto generate / update all the channels and shows after a specific period of time And so on1 point

Yeah since it's random models I can't find an easy solution here without advocating for myself, but if Samsung considers FLAC an audio format but not a video one it's probably that the newer models the NEO line will have the same issue as they don't show FLAC on their manual as a supported video codec anymore, so maybe the best course would be to force transcode it from now on..but as I said I'm not a neutral part here1 point

If the problem arises with direct play only, then Emby is not really involved. The problem is something between your files and your TV... Perhaps there is a problem with how the BDs have been ripped, such that the TV doesn't recognise the HDR layer. How do you do the ripping? Paul1 point

New version 1.1.3.2 and 1.1.4.2 in the starting post: General: Fixed loading of config page for beta servers Moved API key input to the proper place of the config page (Playback Option) Channels: Fix for tv shows that are spread across multiple folders Respect specials in sorting of tv show Fixed sorting other than "Random..." for MixedContent channels Changed Studios channel rule to conditional logical operators Added wildcard evaluation to logical operator expressions for Genre, Tags and Studios Export API: Fixed malformed xmltv output that occured under some circumstances Important: You have to clear your browser cache! The change of the channel rule for Studios is a plugin breaking change. I've integrated some migration strategy that should (hopefully) keep your settings intact, but you have to restart your Emby server a second time for changes to take affect. A backup of your configuration xml file will be created automatically.1 point

Title says it all, ability to ignore shows or movies that are thumbs down in various views, such as Next Up, Suggestions, Latest Media. Problem I'm trying to solve is to get rid of all that media that I add to the library for the wife and kids that I don't like or watch, without having to build complex libraries or filters.1 point

@JDMoody Apologies for the issue. I have replicated the same issue you have presently, just last night on an item I have. I can replicate the issue repeatedly with that file. We do have logic that is supposed to skip over these problems but I do not think they are throwing the correct buffer underflow error on the Roku player when it happens. Since I can replicate I will test out some new methods for us to detect this problem and promptly skip at that point. We will have something to finally fix this very soon. The Roku player on some versions of firmware will use range-requests and get stuck waiting. This problem will only happen when using HLS not when using the original container. This is why you see it rarely as most of your items must fully direct play. Please stay tuned. Thank you.1 point

@Luke ive been using and testing media server software over the past 15 yrs. every few years all end up tring all again to see which is the most straight forward and low maintence and complete media software. like many other folks out there. we really dont like having half dozen pieces of software for media. i just tried emby again today and im extremly pleased with how they have refined it in so many ways. i started the monthly subscribe to test out the livetv/record. but evently added movies and shows. super easy and layout is great. but like others have said this is truely the missing link that keeps people from switching over from plex. im still going to keep emby for everything except music because if i cant sync music playlist to my phone then whats the point. i would just drag and drop the music to a folder on my phone or a usb to plug into car. its not a deal breaker though. i understand it is tricky to convert a playlist from one file system to another and map properly. this software has now replaced channelsdvr and most of the reasons i use plex for except music playlists. i still use zaptomcl for guide and xteve to fine tune and map livetv channels. but hopfully i will be able to replace them too after learning more about how emby does the guide and channel editing. but i will say, when emby gets offline music playlist sync working. plex will be no more! and i will do my happy dance lol1 point

Hello guys, Quick search in the forum but I couldn't find this feature request. It may be useful to have a "create issue report" button on the dashboard which would create a zip of the log files (both emby and ffmpeg). Many people in this forum seem to post topic without any logs attached and it eventually leads to Luke posting the "How to report a problem" link.. So I was thinking of a "create issue report" button with a timeslot option like "my problem appeared in the last 5 minutes/10 minutes/etc" and it creates a zip file with all the files you (dev guys) need to understand the issue and only in this specific timeslot. A second option to anonymize the logs would be nice (Emby knows its own domain name, and grepping an IP is easy). Then, people would post the whole zip file (created with only one click) and you'd have everything needed to debug any possible issue. Why this feature: Time saved for the users. No need to log onto the server and wget the logs, or copy paste it from the webUI. Time saved for the debug team as all the necessary files would be in one archive and you are sure the users won't forget the ffmpeg log or any other sort. Plus, Luke won't have to keep posting the "How to report a problem" link Why the "timeslot" option: Time saved for the users. No more need to restart the server and right after reproduce the issue to have clear logs, or get the full logs but crop it to when the issue appears. Time saved for the debug team as you would have only the interesting logs and not all the usual mess of a normal utilization. Why the "anonymize" option: Time saved for the users and security concern. No need to grep for the domain name and all the clients IP before posting the logs. I hope to convince some people for this feature. Best regards !1 point

Hi Guys, I recently moved from Kodi with MySQL for lack of proper multi user management and server side support, I have to say I'm impressed with Emby. Together with the Kodi Plugin it really takes the solution to a whole new level, count me in among the supporters! One feature I would like to see is the ability to recommend movies or shows to other users: I share my Library with close friends and family but it is a big library so they are always calling me to recommend them a movie to watch. It would be really cool if after watching a movie I can click a Recommend button and choose the users I think would like the movie, then it is displayed on their suggested movies at the top with the name of the user who recommended it... Sorry if there is something like this is already there, I am new to the interface and don't fully know it but could not find such feature... Thanks!1 point

Could we do away with page numbers when viewing the full list of movies and TV series and instead use something like an infinity scroll where more keep loading the further you scroll down? It would be good to keep the letters tab on the right hand side so a user can easily jump to an area they are looking for. I feel like this would make it seem like a more seamless experience1 point

Hey, I think it would be great, that after playing a movie you can give the movie your own rating. I know there is already favorite and like/dislike, but a distinct rating from 1 - 10 would be much clearer. I have a big movie collection and sorting after my own rating would be a great addition, because sometimes i forget how much i liked the movies i watched and if i rewatch them i have at least a little orientation. What do you guys think, is this possible?1 point
