  1. CGNAT is just one of the many issues people have with getting a server up and running on IP hosted at home. Double NATs (user using 2 or more routers), bridged networks, proxies, reverse proxies, multi-homed networks (more common than you think), virtualized setups including VMs, containers including Docker, Podman, CRI-O, rkt, runC, LXC, LXD, containerd. Then you have app filters, internet proxies/filters as well as all types of VPNs which also play havok with network settings. So CGNAT is just of many things that can make setting up Emby Server difficult. Carlo

  2. The FLIRC USB is the product you want. https://flirc.com/more/flirc-usb It's available on Amazon too. I recommend playing around with a keyboard of some sort first to make sure that the keys you plan to map (keyboard keys) do the functions you want them to do. Best of luck, Brian.

  3. New version 1.1.3.2 and 1.1.4.2 in the starting post: General: Fixed loading of config page for beta servers Moved API key input to the proper place of the config page (Playback Option) Channels: Fix for tv shows that are spread across multiple folders Respect specials in sorting of tv show Fixed sorting other than "Random..." for MixedContent channels Changed Studios channel rule to conditional logical operators Added wildcard evaluation to logical operator expressions for Genre, Tags and Studios Export API: Fixed malformed xmltv output that occured under some circumstances Important: You have to clear your browser cache! The change of the channel rule for Studios is a plugin breaking change. I've integrated some migration strategy that should (hopefully) keep your settings intact, but you have to restart your Emby server a second time for changes to take affect. A backup of your configuration xml file will be created automatically.

  5. Hi everyone! I'm looking to get some more support from Emby community on getting PMM (Plex Meta Manager) to support Emby. This is an Collection / Poster Tool that will auto-populate collections based on criteria, for example TMDB Collections List. IMDB Collections List. Trakt Lists Etc... You can also overlay things on top of the posters. They haven't started but I suspect its API related so anymore that whats to help then lets get this done Check it out and if you want to throw in some support, Sponsor! (This isn't me, i'm just plugging) https://metamanager.wiki/en/latest/ & https://github.com/sponsors/meisnate12 Discord is running: https://discord.gg/xwJ9kfaJ & Feature Request for Emby https://features.metamanager.wiki/features/p/emby-jellyfin-support

  6. I'm a big fan of services such as Rifftrax, and I hate having to manually mux files every time I purchase another release. Much in the same way that external subtitle file support was added, it would be nice to have external audio track support for TV and movies added as well. I wouldn't expect Emby to handle the offset calculations needed to sync the audio. It's not too difficult for me to modify that now.

  7. More items in the Latest row(s) would be nice. I just added a bunch of new TV shows / series and 16 isn't enough. If I click on Latest TV, it goes to Suggestions, which is useless, I would like more Latest TV not Continue Watching or Latest Episodes. I can sort TV by date added but that doesn't show new series added to existing ones (series 5 of The Expanse) for example. Similar for Movies please.

  8. Is there plans on the roadmap for OpenID. I have searched but not found any indication this is in development. With many admins taking up SSO through Authelia or Authentik to enhance security it would be great for Emby to support it. One of the easier open standards is OpenID which the aforementioned support. Users could continue to use LDAP if they wish while others can use the arguably better SSO experience.

  9. I would like to hide (Rotten Tomatoes) Ratings. I don't need to know critics' opinions of the movies on my server.

  10. It would be useful if the server (or perhaps clients) could cache most (if not all) content images (posters, backdrops, logos, etc) for movies, TV series and seasons. This would mainly be of benefit when a portion of someone's content is offline but the users would still like to view the content to know what exists. I think caching on the server would be preferable, then all clients could make use of the same cached images. if you think this would be a useful feature, please click the "Like This" button on this post.

  11. I reckon it's reasonable to assume an admin user would be expecting something in the likes of: <username> has paused <movie/tv title> on <device name> <username> resumed playing <movie/tv title> on <device name> as per: instead of: for those events.

  13. Go to settings, schedule tasks, than scan all libraries, do the play button on all tasks, wait, restart server, than should be ready, it will start showing slowly, not all movies have themes, you can create your own theme, by simply put a video in the movie folder and change the name to theme.mp4

  14. Great, thanks for confirming. Sounds like results are mixed across model years. I'm assuming that for both of you it was always DirectPlay. Maybe we will have to disable flac completely which will upset some people

  15. Based the prompts for this screen, as it's tied into the "Manage Access" role/right, it's a bit of an all or nothing thing...Given the lack of granularity, I'm not sure that it makes sense to specifically tie it to that, as it governs which users can access which libraries (as well as the finer-grained access within those libraries). Perhaps one day if the devs should decide to implement proper groups and RBAC, then it might make sense to include a "manage playlist permissions" within the larger manage access role.

  20. Just wanted to add that though I can hear a large delay on my Samsung also that playing the file with VLC in Windows the sound seemed to be synced with the video.

  21. I resolved this by running "pkg install ca_root_nss" in my Truenas jail. I was able to reinstall the Emby Guide plugin and get my guide data back!

  22. Optical cable through a receiver, but the delay is also noticeable using TV speakers, I didn't notice the delay applied in the MI but that was really a random sample that I picked since the delay is present in ANY file with FLAC, I tried playing that exact sample using HDD external and through emby both with delay. Edit: odd that worked on your 2022/17 Samsung TV without the delay...there are quite a few old thread about this issue, it might be affecting only some Tizen TVs but it really doesn't make sense...FLAC is not listed as a supported audio format on Samsung site. https://images.samsung.com/is/image/samsung/assets/test/support/tv-audio-video/how-to-troubleshoot-an-audio-delay/video-codec.png?$ORIGIN_PNG$

  23. Agree to some extent, but a 'basic' ISP connection for 99% of non technical users will not have any of the above (excl an increased possibility of CGNAT) - and if they do, they are likely to know a little more about their own network as they are the ones that changed/implemented it. The idea of this FR, is to do a very simple test to 'alert' them to the fact they are likely behind CGNAT and therefore, this is why emby does not work as advertised. It is not to test anything else, as getting into trying to diagnose any of that is frankly not emby's responsibility - we can offer help, but as you are well aware - diagnosing any form of 'non-standard' network remotely via a forum is almost impossible.

  25. Just tested the file myself and I can hear about a second delay in the soundtrack. I tried using TV speakers and soundbar and both were the same. Looking at the file though in mediainfo I noticed there is a 55ms delay in the audio track. Which is much shorter than what I'm hearing, but odd. Tried demuxing the video and audio track and mediainfo said the audio track was longer than the video track for some reason. Maybe the splitting caused that? Would have to see the mediainfo from the original. 28. +1 I also find it interesting, especially for people who have old televisions (case of Samsung TV from 2016). That in emby they cannot see the background images of movies and series with that opacity that is applied to them and it is illegible when the images are light and not dark.

  30. @alucrydThank you very much for your response. I confirm that suggested solution work. Although in my case it wasn't that straightforward. User "Emby" was inexistent in ADM GUI. But it was listed in /etc/passwd. userdel didn't work for some reason, but deluser did the job.

  36. I think the Shield uses Bluetooth for the remote. I'm pretty certain that at least the voice portion (voice searching from the remote) uses bluetooth. I would guess the control channel is via bluetooth also, but I don't know. I'm fairly certain that IR is not involved at all. I'm unaware of commercial 3rd party bluetooth remotes for home entertainment systems, but I haven't really gone looking for them. Keep in mind that using the FLIRC is limited to keyboard commands. So obviously things like voice search will not work. There are some subtle things that do not work, such as the press and hold buttons. I needed to use one of those to do a screenshot from my Shield recently and it does not work from my remote. I was able to use my Bluetooth keyboard to do that one thing; then switched back to the MX-450. I bring out the keyboard from time to time, primarily when I need to type in a search or something. My solution revolves around the idea of a medium sized system that really demands a universal remote because of the various components that need to be turned on and controlled. I am willing to live with some compromises that don't bother me at all. Others might immediately reject my solution because those compromises don't work for them. The voice search, for example, is one that a lot of normal consumers really like. I don't care much about that. All of this to say that it's important to understand your needs, your use cases, and your "must haves" when evaluating a solution. Remotes are a "thing" for me if you can't tell. Best of luck, Brian.

  39. The Peanut is legendary. I still have one from a rather old Direct Tivo. The MX series of remotes emulate the Peanut somewhat in their physical design. The peanut remote has a "waist" in the middle that guides your hand to know where to reach up or down for various buttons. It's nearly ideally sized. The MX-450 has a "waist" but the remote is a good bit bigger, when means that the finger reach is further for some operations. It is not quite as intuitive to use, but it's pretty good. The overall package of the MX-450 with learnable keys on every single button on every virtual device, the macros, the speed, and the programming FROM THE REMOTE (not a computer) makes it great for me. The peanut, in all it's glory, can't quite equal it. That said, if you JUST wanted to use an old unused Peanut remote to control the Shield, then you can do that pretty easily. Get a FLIRC. Then program the FLIRC to respond to the Peanut and send the keys to the Shield that it expects. Plug the FLIRC into a USB port on the Shield and *boom*. Now your Peanut remote controls the Shield. If you aren't familiar, the FLIRC pretends to be a USB keyboard. It sends keyboard keys to the host you plug it into. Your job is to program it so that when you press keys on an IR remote, the FLIRC sends the right keyboard key. For example, the center button on the Peanut would send the <enter> key on the keyboard. You program the FLIRC (on a computer) to do this. Program the other 5 or 6 keys too. Then plug it into the Shield and your peanut remote will effectively send keyboard commands to the Shield, from your remote, and get the results you want. Brian.

  45. Okay. I'll take a look at the beta, but beta will most likely change again before release, so I'm not sure if chasing beta changes is worth the time TBH. If the change in beta is major, I'll make the appropriate fixes. Looking at it today...

  46. This is not quite ready yet, but will be coming soon Auto Tagging Actors with Alias Names ( Can be enabled in the config ) - when this version is ready and gets posted Also the Actor will get Aliases assigned so that it will look up the actor even if an alias is used. This will add all known aliases under the actor, which will be clickable and filter the movies that the name appears in (These aliases need to be on the ADM server) So that you get the list of actors, click any name and it will show you related actors Clicking the Actors will show the details page, and list the movies that the Name appears in.

  47. Thank you for the response. It did fix my issue. After additional testing I have decided to stick with my current music library software as it seems Emby is too reliant on MusicBrainz and in the testing I have done MusicBrainz consistently incorrectly identified music files and overwrote the work I had done on tagging. If there was a way to just read the MP3 tags that are in stored in the files I would try it more.

  48. This is a very good tip for anyone using Mp3Tag. I had the exact same hidden "AlbumArtist" issue when I started using Emby a while back. Wish I had seen this post then - it would of saved me a lot of time figuring out the problem on my own! 99% of the duplicate Artist issues (and split Albums) with my library were solved by making the embedded AlbumArtist tag the same as Album Artist. (The other 1% was other obscure hidden tags causing problems.) The only info to possibly add is that under the Mp3tag View Menu there is an Extended Tags section that opens up a window that shows ALL the tags of either an individual track or the whole album, if all tracks are selected. I found I was able to edit all tracks at once to change the AlbumArtist to match Album Artist (or vice versa, if required).

  49. A while back I was having pops, clicks and dropouts with TrueHD passthrough audio. As a quick fix I turn off passthrough/bitstreaming for TrueHD and let the mpv player decode the audio as 7.1 PCM. I felt like I was losing out on the object-based meta data being passed along to my processor for the 7.1.4 format. I did a little research and found this patch to mpv which fixes this problem. It's the latest mpv build, 0.36.0, with TrueHD fixes. Here is the thread that explains the problem/fix. Post #951 https://www.avsforum.com/threads/unofficial-mpv-player-support-thread.3274072/page-48#post-62744444 Here is the link to the download mpv.exe player and mpv-2.dll version 0.36.0 with the fix. Scroll past the previous builds until you find the "build-11.08.2023" https://forums.plex.tv/t/dolby-truehd-passthrough-modified-mpv-build/802742/149 I used this build which has the "mpv.exe" and "mpv-2.dll". Google Drive file, -v3 build. "build-11.08.2023-ntruehd+commits-overlay-mod.zip" Just unzip the build, open this folder "mpv-dev-x86_64-v3-20230812-git-76e929c", copy the "mpv-2.dll" to your "AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system\electronapp\libmpv\x64" folder and rename it to "mpv-1.dll" (you will have to rename the old one first). I used "Toy Story 4" as my test movie because it had some serious audio issues at 00:02:32. This build fixed it. In fact, this build fixed all the movies that had TrueHD audio issues. Make sure you have this option enabled. "audio-exclusive=yes" (mpv.config) or "Enable exclusive audio mode" in the ET Audio GUI. Enjoy.
