So, @Lukewill we be seeing TVNext progress action soon (repeat soon) after 4.8 is released ?5 points

So, already hello I had already thought of adding Emby support to the PMM project. After a quick read of the code, I think it's possible without too much difficulty. I've forked the basic repo to be able to test things out first and, if I come up with something, submit it to the PMM author. I think that if I'm not the only one working on it, it can go quickly. Here's the fork repo: REPO I'm willing to add as many contributors as I need if people want to help me. Like many people I have a job in real life so I can't work on it all the time. If someone has already started adding support for Emby and I haven't seen it (sorry) I'll help out if they show up.4 points

Kodi settings related to HDR and Adjustments to Refresh Rate were causing my stuttering issues i was also seeing the issue in Emby Theater, but haven't yet tried to address it there2 points

@JDMoody Apologies for the issue. I have replicated the same issue you have presently, just last night on an item I have. I can replicate the issue repeatedly with that file. We do have logic that is supposed to skip over these problems but I do not think they are throwing the correct buffer underflow error on the Roku player when it happens. Since I can replicate I will test out some new methods for us to detect this problem and promptly skip at that point. We will have something to finally fix this very soon. The Roku player on some versions of firmware will use range-requests and get stuck waiting. This problem will only happen when using HLS not when using the original container. This is why you see it rarely as most of your items must fully direct play. Please stay tuned. Thank you.2 points

Is it wrong to think at this point just plain seeing "No." as a reply would more fulfilling than what we have heard so far?1 point

Hi, we try to with each new version, including beta, although we're not perfect about doing it every single time, but usually we do get the latest before releasing.1 point

Me and my friends are having the same issue with the xbox app. While playing something via direct play the app is basically unusable. It will completely lock up and stop playing after a few minutes or if you try to skip ahead or backwards. The app will need to be closed fully from the dashboard it becomes totally unresponsive. At other times you can hear sound but there's no video. However it seems that if I force it to transcode, it works fine. It's not ideal as it's only a small home server, and I can't really do 3 simultaneous transcodes at the same time. Roku and andriod apps work absolutely fine with direct play. I really don't believe it is server related. embyserver.txt1 point

Not yet, I recommend to buy the USB Audio Player PRO app which it has full support in that regard while the Emby devs implement proper support.1 point

If you read my post here: The Docker instruction was based on the Linux Server template. I believe the distros used are different so I can not confirm. Note also that I have created a script that you can run and it does all the work for you1 point

@Luke that works perfectly like I expected! Now I feel the same UX as if I'm watching Netflix! Thanks a ton!1 point

I's like to see a separation between movie playlists and music playlists. I've started using Emby instead of Spotify, and it works quite well overall, but the playlist screen gets mixed playlist types.1 point

Local or remote access? In any case, check connection troubleshooters and post which steps worked and which did not. https://emby.media/support/articles/Connectivity.html https://emby.media/support/articles/Remote-Setup.html1 point

Your server is where you have installed it; or otherwise where your friend who is letting you use their server has installed it. Emby the organisation makes software for you to use; it is not a media provider. https://emby.media/support/articles/Quick-Start.html Paul1 point

You need to have your own server installed and configured or someone need to share their server with you. https://emby.media/support/articles/Quick-Start.html1 point

Hi, the Server has a direct connection to the internet (IPv6 and IPv4). There is an VPN (wieguard) running in the server but there is no traffic routed through this network as it is being used to access the server (RDP) only. The connection itself to tmdb works fine, I testet it with telnet, ping, traceroute and also opening the queries within browsers. Technically there is no problem with the network connection itself. I tested all of this, and still only emby has problems connecting to themoviedb. EDIT: It seems to be that I found the cause and the solution for this: My Server runs on native IPv4 and IPv6, primarily the IP-Addresses of tmdb/themoviedb are being resolved to IPv6 first and then to IPv4. I now added all known IPv4 Adresses of themoviedb to my hosts file, and voila ... it works. 8.165.140.10 themoviedb.org 18.165.140.30 themoviedb.org 18.165.140.98 themoviedb.org 18.165.140.123 themoviedb.org 18.165.122.23 api.themoviedb.org 18.165.122.27 api.themoviedb.org 18.165.122.73 api.themoviedb.org 18.165.122.87 api.themoviedb.org 13.32.121.18 tmdb.org 13.32.121.43 tmdb.org 13.32.121.73 tmdb.org 13.32.121.129 tmdb.org 89.187.169.47 image.tmdb.org Is there no IPv6 Support within emby? If yes, that would be sad.... I will monitor that and if it now works without a flaw I will mark this as solution.1 point

Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.1 point

Yes, I think most people like the fact you can quickly jump forward or back one interval without interference. Do you really need seek thumbs for a single jump?1 point

I got this to work!! Here was the issue that apparently prevented MB2 as a standalone server to run as it should. The setups in both MB1 and MB2 are exactly the same except that MB1 has all the media attached to it via SSD's plus Live TV. MB2 only has Live TV. When I edit the m3u file it is done on MB1 and then I copy it over to MB2. Channel mapping is done on both boxes because this way I am assured that they are the same. Obviously I keep a log pertaining to my mappings. Now for the movie medias which was the problem I was having. Everything runs as it should on MB1 but on MB2 I was having a hard time getting MB2 to connect to the SSD's on MB1 which is where my media is located. I remembered long ago (see previous topic 2 years ago I think) that I was having the same problem with getting any movies to play on Emby. The answer was the VPN. For whatever reason the PIA VPN had to be set to an area outside the U.S. When I switched it to Canada no joy. When I switched to another country except U.S. or Canada, it worked! So now on MB1 and 2 the VPN was set to the same location. MB1 worked but MB2 would not. Once I switched MB2 to another location other than the one MB1 is set on it worked!! So now I have 2 MB boxes independent of each other except for the movie files. Just reporting a result in case anyone else use Private IA as their VPN. Thanks to all and Cheers!!!1 point

Running 4.8.0.51 beta. The issue still persists on Roku. iPad runs flawlessly. Several different series have shown the issue. Multi formats. Episode stops with one second remaining and a click of the right arrow advances to next episode. For some reason, not sure of the relevance, but 30 minute shows seems to be the only ones that don't automatically advance. 1 hour shows I don't recall having any issues with.1 point

Are you talking about watching live TV on Emby? If so, you can, but you need to connect a tv tuner to Emby. Emby doesn't provide the content, you need to add content to the Emby server.1 point

Yes, you can watch it on this. Configure your server and LiveTV. https://emby.media/support/articles/Live-TV.html Download what? Server? Client(s)? https://emby.media/download.html1 point

If your archive source is network and/or FUSE storage then real time monitoring doesn't work on Linux for those types. Nothing should be triggered even if it tries to monitor. If you have two or more paths for a single library then only changes to the local path will trigger updates. If you have separate libraries for local and remote storage the option to monitor can be set at the library level.1 point

That would be great, I would also like to be able to set the language. In my case German trailers (if available)1 point

You're honestly better off to get an offlease micro PC than a Pi at this point. The Pi 5 needs a 27 watt power supply, and a T series Intel or GE series AMD only use 35 watts, and will wipe the floor with the Pi 5, especially the Intel with quicksync.1 point

The thread linked below should get you on track though you want to set a value higher than 64k (your current limit). Without knowing the actual number of watchers needed a value of 262144 should be good. After you change the values and reboot you can check with sysctl -a | grep inotify1 point

Version 2.4.0.3 Feature Create a copy of a playlist. (Duplicate) Decluttered UI by adding a pop up menu to playlists New Criteria: Added Audio Stream Codec Criteria (Stream: Audio Codec) Added Audio Stream Language Criteria (Stream: Audio Language) Added Audio Stream Display title Criteria (Stream: Audio Display Title) Added Subtitle Stream Language Criteria (Stream: Subtitle Language) Added Video Stream Codec Criteria (Stream: Video Codec) Added Video Stream Display title Criteria (Stream: Video Display Title) Updated Criteria: Parental Rating: Now uses official rating under the hood Resolution Height: Now uses video streams to determine the available video heights rather than the metadata. Resolution Width: Now uses video streams to determine the available video widths rather than the metadata. Added Monitor Mode to shuffle playlist type. Meaning that the playlist will be destroyed and recreated on a schedule, but between scheduled executions, media item changes will be batched and monitored for inclusion/exclusion. (So .... combination of live and shuffle modes but could have a perf hit on larger playlists, experimental) Collapsible sections in the playlist editor that keeps state, for more UI real estate. Added the ability to add notes to a playlist (limited to 256 chars). If there are notes assigned a pop up is displayed when hovering over a playlist (2 second delay). Order all selection lists on criteria with dropdowns alphabetically. ------------------------------------------------------- Can't seem to edit the main topic anymore so can't add release to the first page. Might start a new topic. As per usual, please let me know if there are any issues, I will be focusing on the changes introduced in the next version of Emby next. SmartPlaylist-2.4.0.3.zip1 point

Yeah that's how i believe both JF and Plex On Deck handles it. You have a configurable setting for how many weeks to keep them on list, then if you go back to the show and watch another episode it'll appear back, basically filters based on when it was watched. Its relevant for me because due to shows I have seen and stopped after the first season, meaning to eventually pick up again so at this point i have 135 items on my continue watching and it feels like it affects performance as well. Especially since I can't use the remove from continue watching option due to the issue i posted under Testing. (Also It doesnt seem like it comes back to continue watching if you start watching the show again, and i havent found a way to restore an item to the continue watching list)1 point

Only way I’m able to play media from Emby is to cast it to the Xbox. The Xbox app itself does not work.1 point

Hey @ThormanI have added a new option to 'Duplicate' a playlist, so you can basically copy all the values from one to a new playlist.1 point

Hey Everyone, so I am back and able to focus on this for a bit. I have just created a small new release to get back into the "swing" of things. Seems I've missed a bit. Going forward could I ask that you log any issues/feature requests on the Github Repo, as this is easier for me to track what needs to be done, and I can get going.... Version 2.4.0.2 Feature Added Resolution Height Criteria Added Resolution Width Criteria Added Favorite (Tree Crawl) Criteria Allow sorting on Limited items for Shuffle playlist. (Shuffle will destroy and create new playlist, where as normal will just append/remove items that mismatch in filter rules.) SmartPlaylist-2.4.0.2.zip1 point

If anyone has been keeping up with Plex, they’ll know that there are a lot of disgruntled users out there. Between the banning of Hetzner servers, to cancelling a lot of people’s accounts (some for just cause, others for not), a lot of users are looking for alternatives. It seems a lot of people are recommending Jellyfin over Emby unfortunately and I’d like to see Emby really capitalize on this. What a great time to really hammer things out, continue to make Emby the kick ass option that a lot of us know it is and really start to take some market share. I’m really hopeful that the next stable release flushes some things out, makes it even better and we see a lot of Plex users start to gravitate towards Emby as an option. Hopefully the staff has the bandwidth to really take advantage of this opportunity and get the Emby brand out there! Just your average users thoughts on a situation where I hope you guys can really shine!1 point

I want to clarify something: If the Emby for Android app is going to provide DSD playback support as it should, then it must: - Implement the "Exclusive USB Audio Access Mode" option which is now in the Feature Requests section, this is necessary to output the DSD stream directly to a DAC with DSD playback support, otherwise, if the Android driver is used, then only PCM decoding is possible. - Implement the three audio options for DSD decoding: PCM, DoP (DSD over PCM) and DSD native, otherwise, if the Android driver is used, then only PCM decoding is possible. In my case with the FiiO KA1, PCM and DoP are supported by the DAC, but DoP is only possible with the "Exclusive USB Audio Access Mode" option.1 point

As an ex-emby premium user, I grew tired of paying monthly just to use Emby Theater to watch my own content on my TV. That's all i really did, sometimes using the mobile app as a remote control but usually not. My usage case did not warrant £4 a month for that when there are numerous free options that we could have used. I like Emby, but my God the development at times is slow. Some of the basic bugs and features I experienced and reported never got fixed or added, and I think you'll find, that of you go onto the Jellyfin forum, or now reddit page, you'll find this was one of the many complaints about Emby. I tried Jellyfin last year, it was a waste of time. I tried Jellyfin 2 months ago and have now dropped Emby and moved over to Jellyfin permanently. Maybe much has changed since the OP created his post, in fact I know it has. The speed at which Jellyfin devs are implementing features and fixes bugs is bizarrely fast and in a different league to Emby devs. Is Jellyfin as good as envy? Not at the moment, but in the space of a year they have gone from unusable (for me) to very usable and comparable to Emby. There are still lots TV s of bugs, but they get fixed. They have just released Jellyfin Media Player which replaces Emby Theater just fine for me, and thank God it gets rid of that horrid Electron crap which I always had issues with. The android Jellyfin app is working fine 95% of the time for me, but once in a while certain media crashes it and I need to restart the app. Library scanning works fine for me and is equally as capable as Emby I have found. Everything else is much the same as Emby but with a few more bugs. Jellyfin devs seem more than capable of writing and developing their own software and are not just blagging their way through. If I were Emby devs, I'd be very worried about Jellyfin to be honest, another year and I really can't see what Emby will have to offer over Jellyfin. I will say this, Emby is a bit more polished and I rarely had an issue with it other than the horrid electron and the windows 10 theater app which was a crash waiting to happen, again, and again, and again. I still prefer Emby, but not at £48 per year.1 point

Hi, that just means that the bitrate is too high for the network connection and needs to be lowered in order to ensure smooth playback.0 points
