I appreciate you directing my attention to the matrix chart; it's very helpful. I bit the bullet and purchased a monthly subscription, and I'm happy to report that it's performing admirably. A feature that I would want to see in LDAP is selective permission control. Rather than using the global permission, I would prefer to use a group filter for users and admin.2 points

Great news everyone. Emby for Android 3.3.29 is available in the Amazon App Store. Please try it out and report your experience. Thanks !2 points

Ok its should not be put in your docker it self. That will erase the plugin on restart, thats how dockers work. Have you set up persistent storage for your docker ? Then thats where you should put the plugin.2 points

Regarding AV1 Encoding AV1 encoding in > realtime speed is going beyond the limits of even the latest CPU models unless there's significant downscaling before encoding. Less than 0.1% of Emby users have hardware available which supports AV1 hw encoding Emby uses HLS for streaming and I'm not aware of any client player which is explicitly supporting AV1 on HLS. Maybe the "eat-anything" MPV player can do it, but even when it would, it would still be < 10% of clients. Doing the Math: 0.1% of servers times 10% of clients makes: 0.01% of cases: If we would spend effort on developing this now, only one out of 10,000 playback situations would benefit from this work. In a few years, the situation will possibly be very different. But for now - AV1 encoding is totally off.2 points

Be able to create playlist based on a certain criteria, like genre and or year, in order to create a dynamic playlist that it refreshes automatically when new content is added. This way you can for example, create a tv comedy playlist from the 90's, or a new sci-fi Movies playlist. Some other criteria for rules could be the rating, watched/unwantched, score, tags, language, audio codec, etc The possibilities could be endless1 point

Hi, I would like to have an option to choose H265 instead of H264 in the Transcode option. It will be smaller for all bad bandwidth (2~5Mbit ADSL), but will have a great quality. Mobile phone can benefit of it greatly too with the 4G and the limitation of download.1 point

I'm a very excited new adopter of Emby. My chosen server platform is MacOS. I'm currently running the 4.7.14 Intel version, as it works properly with the Cover Art Plugin, while the ARM version does not. I would very much enjoy trying out the 4.8 Beta on MacOS. I'm hoping this post encourages the person that does the MacOS development to release a beta build. Your MacOS customers are out here! Thanks for reading, Brian.1 point

Hi. That is pre-encoded content. Completely different situation. You can do the same now by pre-encoding your content.1 point

I ran a quick test with the new dll and was able to successfully save a change. Thank you @VicMoorefor all your work on this issue!1 point

Correct. I love Emby and when I found out that iptv providers were going towards Extreme Codes and we were not having that feature supported in Emby had forced me to look at alternatives. If Emby could support XC, that would make Emby the goto app for everything. like you pointed out. IMPlayer is going in that direction, but they are still forcing users to have android based setups to support the app and from working with a friend last night, it seems the app does not retain the emby connection details after the app reboots. I would encourage the Emby devs to take a look at this as this could be what brings Emby to the next level. Users will still be able to have Emby play on almost all facets of devices and bridging the next Gen iptv services via XC would make Emby G.O.A.T. In my opinion, lol. (other may differ)1 point

Good morning @worthmoAttached is an updated Plugin that traps the error message you are experiencing. I have tested it for hours and it has not failed. Give it a try. I hope it works for you also. If not, I will continue looking for a solution. Vic Emby.Bulky.dll1 point

Ran docker compose through portainer. The storage for the media is on 4 hdd on a single pool through mergerfs. *Edit: Thanks this got me on the right track. the previous setup had the config older directly to the HDD that its saved on - not through the mergerfs pool like the media. I think emby cannot see through the mergerfs or has permission issues. Changed just the config line to directly to the HDD and it loads up. thanks!1 point

I already said, that I download titles instead of ripping my own media because I CAN'T. Every time I try to use compression algorithms I find myself either losing too much quality or keep huge files. Check this video for example, I can stream One Piece on the Netflix Account I AM PAYING FOR. I also have One Piece on my server. YOU may find that being "piracy". I find that NOT piracy since I'm already paying for the damn thing. I just hate their player. Same for every other streaming Service. The ONLY paid service, that I actually enjoy using on the native app is Spotify. THAT being said, it's not your job to dictate what I will, and what I will not do. VID_20230908_143723.mp41 point

Ideally, ALL remote playback should be direct play if you have the bandwidth available - and that is what's being discussd here. For compressed Audio, I agree, not even worth the effort to reduce it - but for HD Audio Tracks, there is potentially a LARGE amount of bandwidth that could be saved. And if we start talking multiple Video tracks, then this becomes even more of relevance.1 point

IMPlayer is a great tool that support iptv where (constructive criticism) emby was struggling with. it supports emby integration via emby connect credentials. where now you can watch live tv outside of m3u formatted playlists when tv providers have switched over to XC API. If we could integrate emby's tv feature to support this change then the emby app would be the goto app for all media content. I use IMPlayer for all iptv needs and stay on my emby server for my specialized VOD content. What i do notice is that IMPlayer is having tough times connecting to emby server and recently i have seen where credentials stored in it do not retain my emby credentials and server details after i have exited the app and restarted ii up.1 point

Sorry for the long delay in answering. I saw your answer to create a server log after I had taken down the system. But I created a new emby library on a different computer and it is working fine with the same media, so it seems to have been an "anomaly" with that system and is not a current problem. Thanks for all your help.1 point

If you have not registered for the androidTV beta, then you wiull have to sideload as @seanbuffsays. If you use the emby beta server version, then you should maybe also signup for the android beta, then you can just update the app from the google play store in the normal way, or wait for it to auto update.1 point

Ok. After much screwing around trying to get it loaded on my device I was finally able to get it loaded. It updated Emby and I am VERY happy to report that it now works as it should! I would hope you guys can get this pushed out as soon as you possibly can. I would also like to say that I truly do appreciate the effort to get this fixed. I have not of course looked all the way through the app so if something else is not quite right I do not know. But at least for now it is working correctly. Thanks again!1 point
-
Looks like I may have just solved the issue myself! I had the emby movie library pointed at the emby parent folder rather than going an extra subfolder down, which was causing the server to pull in both the move AND tv shows sub folders.1 point

Thanks for reminding me. I was in settings the other day and did a search that I thought would only search settings only to see Emby search my libraries. Now I know search is broken as is.1 point

Something strange happened.. I deleted library.db (metadata folder still in place). Server loaded empty, so started adding libraries and suddenly all old libraries appeared and now am able to search?! How could this happen? Thanks!1 point

I have worked on the "Channels" tool in Bulky. It will read your VirtualTV channel setups. The first time you read this data the "Channels" will assume that you have no media selected for any of the 30 channels. With this tool you will select the media for each channel. Nothing is saved back into VirtualTV until you click the "Save VirtualTV" button. At the moment, processing of TV channels is slow. I will improve this soon. ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... .... ..... ..... .....1 point

Many times it has come up in this thread as a possible alternative to HEVC. However, it has its own set of challenges as well. This topic should have actually been labeled "Transcode to a more bandwidth efficient codec" because that is really what it is discussing but people often just see what they think is a solution to their problem and ask for that specific implementation. We should always be looking for the higher level problem and find the best solution to that.1 point

At least on the 2.5 GbE NIC on my computer was what had the 10Mb set for the WOL, That's changed now to the 100Mb setting. I retired the AS1102T. I just got through setting up my new server Asustor Lockerstor Gen 2 AS6702T, this thing is flying along now, I was able to take my 2- 8TB HGST and pretty much just stick them in, and it updated ADM and all the Apps. I also put in 2- 1TB 2280 NVME drives for read/write cache, and I have a place for two more NVME's that I can use for storage also. I deleted the morning restarts of the server, I'll know tomorrow if it's all good, I bet it is. Thank you everybody!1 point

Yeah which is frustrating for consumers since most people will buy the dominant platform and then some of those consumers will discover niche interest which may or may not be supported. That is also probably just frustrating for you guys as developers since developing for open platforms is becoming more and more of a privileged nowadays. In that sense Apple and Roku are probably the most painful ones to work around as well. Android seems to be getting and more synonymous with Google services nowadays as well which is also worrying for the future I guess.1 point

Online app that changes timings inside .srt files. I use VLC playback to check. There is an easy way to add a subtitle to the original video. Sync all timings in a subtitle srt https://subtitletools.com/subtitle-sync-shifter Sync only timings from selected Start time to End time inside the substitle srt file https://subtitletools.com/partial-subtitle-sync-shifter === Some useful ms numbers that shift audio 1 frame at a time. Obviously, just go negative to move the audio earlier in the video. It is tricky to get it exactly right, but you can see it best with closeup actor's face speaking or any sharp click. Getting it exactly right really looks nice. 24 fps: 42 83 125 167 208 250 292 333 375 417 458 500 542 583 625 667 708 750 792 833 875 916 958 1000 1042... 25 fps (occasionally found in UK and European films): 40 80 120 160 200 240 280 320 360 400 440 480 520 560 600 640 680 720 760 800 840 880 920 960 1000 29.97 or 30 fps: 33 67 100 133 167 200 234 267 300 334 367 400 434 467 501 534 567 601 634 667 701 734 767 801 834 868 901 934 968 1000 === For advanced timing, you can use https://aegisub.org/ I warn you that tweaking with this software takes a lot of time and there is a learning curve. It took me about 5 hours to fix subtitle timing and improve the actual translations for a 90 minute video. This allows you to more easily sync and extend subtitles that need a little extra time to read. It also automatically warns you when the number of words is not ideal for the amount of time they are shown. === It makes more sense to try to find already prepared subtitles online instead: https://subscene.com/ https://www.podnapisi.net/ https://moviesubtitlesrt.com/ https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search/subs https://english-subtitles.org/ https://www.addic7ed.com/ Hope that helps.1 point

There's the "Android TV" app, and there's the "Android" app, also referred to as Android Mobile. The Android app is the focus of development, as it is planned to have it take over from the Android TV app - but it's not yet ready to do that, and some people are uncertain about it. Anyway, either app can talk to the server when correctly set up. In my experience, the commonest failure here is confusion between Connect and Server credentials. Server credentials should always work; Connect credentials need a link setting up at the server first, but then don't require as much server details. You need to be clear which credentials you actually have (the Connect one is the same as this forum), and that you are putting them into the right place in the app. Paul1 point

[i work for Schedules Direct.] Does this thread really even involve Schedules Direct? I believe that the intent of this forum was for users which are having issues with their account at our site, or the lineup is incorrect and you need to let us know that there's a new channel, or program descriptions are wrong to be able to at least get the issue out there so that we could investigate. From what I can tell, most if not all of the issues you're experiencing have to do with the UI or deleting programs within Emby, which doesn't have that much to do with the guide data. That may be why the developers didn't jump onto the thread, because when they saw it come up in the "Schedules Direct" forum they may have assumed, "Oh, it's a guide issue." and continued to write code. A UI issue with deleting programs doesn't have that much to do with providing guide data, so this probably should have been in another forum. The reason that you don't see too many threads in this forum is that I'd like to think that we do a pretty good job of providing the EPG data and respond pretty quickly if there's an issue with our piece of the environment. @@Luke @@ebr Can the description of the forum include that it's really for guide data issues to ensure that users aren't putting threads in here that I'm ignoring (because it didn't have anything to do with the guide data being incorrect) and that you may be ignoring (because it's in the Schedules Direct forum, so the assumption is that it's a guide issue and I'm taking care of it?)1 point
