  1. Today, we're glad to announce public availability of the new Emby WMC UI Beta. It started out as a spare-time effort of Emby developer softworkz, assumed to target only a niche audience of nostalgia and WMC fans, and hasn't been an Emby roadmap project. But over time, it has turned into something of its own kind, going far beyond just mixing-in some nostalgic visuals like a theme, but rather providing an authentic look and feel, the original modes of operation and behavior, or in short: the original, well known and beloved-by-many user experience from Window Media Center. So we've decided to officially release it under the Emby brand and now we are excited to invite you to join the public beta. Get details on how to participate here and view the introduction video here. View the full article

  2. Unless I'm being a bit blind (highly possible!), I'd love a way to hide a couple of the top green navigation items without hacking it in myself. For example, in Movies I don't want the 'Trailers' item to appear for any profile and for TV I don't need the 'Upcoming' nav link. Obviously not a major issue but thought it would be a nice thing to have, perhaps allowing them to be re-ordered like the home page items but again just a nice extra,

  4. @Luke @ebr I believe the plan is to add functionality for existing playlists and add edit permissions in beta before releasing this feature to stable. Can you provide a status? I haven't seen this in the release notes for the latest beta.

  5. I just tested too. The beta is now working! The published version is still experiencing the issue so whatever it is you did, even by accident, worked. Let me know if you want process of elimination to deduce what change made the fix.

  6. My request is to be able to chose to add items to the home screen. Specifically in my case, I am thinking of playlists and collections. Here's some reasons I'd like to see this: The home screen is the first piece of the user interface a person will see when they pull up Emby. I often places movies in bulk into my media library. This sometimes means people never see the new movie I've made available. Happens a lot, actually. While all movies are searchable or can be found by sorting, I believe the interface would benefit from having the customization option. I have created a "Justin Recommends" collection and would LOVE to be able to put that on the home screen. By keeping this optional, no one is forced to use it. If you don't have a use-case, then it's just a feature. If you look at things like Netflix, many movies and shows get "featured" and by doing that, a lot of people end up watching that wouldn't otherwise (imagine if The Tiger King was just another buried documentary you had to hunt for, no one would have heard of it). I appreciate your time. If you've considered this before and decided against for reasons other than difficulty implementing the feature, I'd ask you to reconsider. I believe that being able to customize our servers helps us personalize and tailor them to our audience and our needs, and that helps promote a feeling of ownership. I also truly believe that this small change could lead to some powerful results. In my case, I know that it would be of huge benefit to accomplishing what I would like to do with my Emby server. Thank you.

  7. I recently found a need to look up additional information on a director. I was hoping to look at the director's profile and see not only the movies I had in my collection but also a list of other movies that they have directed. This would be displayed below the library's current movies. ex: My movies: Movie 1, Movie 2 Other movies by this person: Movie 3, Movie4 ================ This could help one expand their library and to discover a missing gem.

  9. It is really cool that Emby has the ability to support multiple versions of the same movie. It would be nice to have a setting on the client side to allow the user to set which version should be selected by default. This could be as simple a user-entered string, or it could be a list of detected strings to choose from. It could allow multiple entries and it would choose them in the order entered. On the Kodi side, it would also be nice to get the "Choose the Best Version for Me" option that the Emby app has.

  10. Welcome to the WMC UI Public Beta! Thanks for your interest in the WMC UI and for being part of this! Your help and feedback is important and essential for getting this to perfection and ironing out all those things that one alone can't find and identify as everybody has different setup and different ways of using Emby. There are two places for interaction and communication: GitHub: Issue-Tracking and Releases WMC UI Forums (here) Issues Issues are used for tracking work that needs to be done Please create a new for every problem you see, no matter which kind - can be errors, unexpected behavior, visual glitches, etc. Please check first, whether an entry already exists for the same problem If you think an existing entry is the same, but the situation is slightly different, you can add a message to the existing issue or create a new one, we'll then find out whether it's different or same WMC UI Forums We’re using the forums as a place for general communication like: Publishing announcements about when updates are published Asking questions about the WMC UI Sharing ideas and suggestions Please always start a new topic for a new subject and let's try to avoid endless conversations which are "about everything" Platform Availability The WMC UI Beta is currently available in the following forms: Web Browser & Installable Web App Emby Theater WMC (Windows) Emby WMC (Android) Web Browser & Installable Web App Web Browser There's an http and an https URL available: http://wmc.emby.media/ https://wmc.emby.media/ Emby Theater WMC (Windows) ClickOnce Installation (auto-updating) Win 64bit: https://softworkz.github.io/etwmc/setup/x64/ Portable Installs These are useful to test or compare specific versions or in case of issues with ClickOnce installation. They can be found in the Releases section: https://github.com/EmbySupport/Emby.WMC.UI/releases Just unzip and run. Emby WMC (Android) The app version can be installed in parallel to the regular Emby Android App and the ATV app. Please side-load the app by using the matching APK. The APKs can be found in the Releases section: https://github.com/EmbySupport/Emby.WMC.UI/releases NOTE The Android app is limited by date, so that it is working within 10 days after release. We'll try to always have a new release ready before the previous one expires.

  11. Just to clarify: you are not supposed to register for origin trial yourself - I did that already. Maybe it doesn't accept two entries. I've removed the previous one, so you could retry (in about 5 minutes). I need to check out now, but I'll look at it tomorrow again!

  12. I have a lifetime pass and I'd be willing to pay extra for a premium lifetime version of live TV and improved IPTV support... especially if it encourages rapid development. I dont know if I'd be on-board for a subscription service unless there are some incredible perks. The current live TV is pretty stable and usable in its current form. They could probably fork it leaving its current functionality for people who are satisfied with where its at. I imagine some people would be upset but as long as the features they paid for are not crippled I'm sure they will understand the need for additional investment for a generational improvement.

  13. Okay, I've already solved it!! It was just that I had the path of one of the series folders in the emby server library duplicated!!
    1 point
  14. I would like to expand on this a bit. Not only would I like to see a list of all the media in library with the Actor/Director/Writer as it does now, but also list any that not in library. It would be also a good idea to pre-fetch the name of the roles as well so when you open up Mark Harmon's page you see the cover and under it: [Movie Cover Art] The Presidio * 1988 as Jay Austin and [Series Cover Art] NCIS * 2003-2022 435 eps as Leroy Gibbs

  17. It'll be released when it's ready. All efforts are supposed to be just on debugging now rather than new features - but (following the security issue) also on getting the new password and login system into place. Paul

  18. Problem solved. Because I do not use the ISP modem/router as my home network router and have my own router so that I don't have to reconfig everything when we change providers, I had to forward the ports on both my router and the ISP combo unit. Once I did that it connected no problem. Hopefully this will be helpful for someone else in the future who uses their own router instead of the ISP provided one and forgot to for the ports on both units. Looks like the complications were my own fault.

  19. They are some threads as the example above will always face the problem, reason it maybe copied from another website, especial color font format, ... etc. I was talking with the dev of the modification and what I post above is main reply I got and that what I knew already but was looking for a solution or more as well a feedback to him for next build for that modification. Also the modification will work best for a threads of this kind of format "after" it install, not before. You can at the moment for old thread when copying/paste to use:

  20. Okay testing that emby account on a different kodi install does sync all the correct data; so it's probably something specific to that profile. I'll delete that kodi profile and try adding it again.

  21. Agree - we need to see the port forward rules/settings etc on the router to confirm but at least we know uPNP has a factor in this - ideally duplicate all the uPNP rules you need manually - and then disable uPNP as per Paul's suggestion and mine earlier ...
    1 point
  22. You described in the first post the forwarding you had set up in the router; but now you say that its behaviour is altered by uPNP. This suggests to me that the manual forwarding has something wrong with it, and that's what I would first concentrate on (having uPNP off and not using it at all is hugely preferable on security grounds). 23. Yes but this does not matter there still are black bars in the example as you can see top bottom and on the side where the camera is. This black bar is regardless of the aspect ratio of the video. Also you can change the video to stretching and it will still have the black bar were the camera is.

  35. @mw420blazeitI'm happy to add this option for you, but we'll have to find another service to use to obtain your ipv6 address. We use ipify: https://www.ipify.org/ Currently we use the ipv4 url. They have a universal url but they seem to send back ipv4 when available and there's no way to control that. But if you jump on the server beta channel, starting in 4.8.0.45+, this will be a hidden config switch. In config/system.xml, set PreferredDetectedRemoteAddressFamily to InterNetworkV6 Then start the server. This will have the server use their universal url. Perhaps for you it will result in ipv6.

  39. Any chance this will make it to server side so it can be ENFORCED as a policy server side for clients? I think Emby is missing ability to check "Enforced" or "Preference" to each applicable user settings, from the server side. If Preference is ticked, the setting is set as a default, but user can change it (this default could be different to Emby's own default out of box). If enforced is ticked, then the user can't change on the client. If both Enforced and Preference are unticked then its just Emby's own out of box default that can be changed on the client. You can't tick both those boxes as web form wouldn't allow.

  40. Hey Luke, the original plugin had an option for TV Shows to notify of Series/Season/Episode with the toggle to enable/disable series/season/episode level of content. What I mean by this is the ability to only post that a series was added but not each episode, or season 1 of the series. It gets a bit spammy if I add 2 or 3 seasons of something I add. Is there a chance you can implement this into a future update?

This is the expression i use in both the root os and within Swag Proxy docker (which has a secondary fail2ban because why not lol) # Fail2Ban for emby # # [Definition] failregex = AUTH-ERROR: <HOST> - Invalid user HTTP Response 401 to <HOST>. ignoreregex = This catches both incorrect username and / or incorrect password attempts Just tested it and both Fail2ban instances blocked my ip

  48. I had to work this out myself a while ago. Yes the documentation is very lacking when you first start out - Swagger is good to test stuff - but sometimes the best way to find stuff out is to do it in the web app then check the debug log to see how they query the db So... 1. To get a list of existing collections (called 'boxset' internally by Emby) an example returning some extra "Fields" in addition to the basic info $embyServerUrl + "/emby/users/" + $User.User.Id + "/items?Fields=ChildCount,RecursiveItemCount&Recursive=true&SortBy=SortName&SortOrder=Ascending&IncludeItemTypes=boxset" + "&api_key=" + $User.AccessToken You get json returned that looks like this. You could also filter by Emby Library if you wanted to narrow your search as the url above will return all Collections { "Items": [ { "Name": "Harry Potter Collection", "ServerId": "393d783c30484015a24645f7844060b4", "Id": "56363", "IsFolder": true, "Type": "BoxSet", "UserData": { "PlaybackPositionTicks": 0, "PlayCount": 0, "IsFavorite": false, "Played": false }, "RecursiveItemCount": 4, "ChildCount": 4, "ImageTags": { "Primary": "569c475e2cd007115791315c045191eb", "Art": "dc3acd1748b8e0f96ff73e67f3cfe1e4", "Banner": "843348644e3b13c8a58fd0db7ea57a91", "Logo": "7747bfd998e9b4fbb940fc3c4ac20af5", "Thumb": "e92392142d45e1b03f3e3f425de4263b" }, "BackdropImageTags": [ "b1565e7944dcc949107a01873b63405d", "b00e2dd87f96b13eadb7c8daa2af9d0e", "227151d95c53883f7edffdbe8fac0ea3", "931b2e44b1285e9d729185c2b16c1fb7", "4d91bf5d13d45a3da510b856dd6ac480", "8621e25e6a216def9de9f90ea7cbbd1a", "2279f79684d21913cf7922ecef9c564b", "bf03924b4cd421c8601161668b19cb98", "7edc51c8bda707c9616b3f7747fe19e7", "169d42390e150470c71cf33fda182fbd" ] }, { "Name": "Star Wars Collection", "ServerId": "393d783c30484015a24645f7844060b4", "Id": "416", "IsFolder": true, "Type": "BoxSet", "UserData": { "PlaybackPositionTicks": 0, "PlayCount": 0, "IsFavorite": false, "Played": false }, "RecursiveItemCount": 1, "ChildCount": 1, "ImageTags": { "Primary": "84de2db74a56e59a3799ce2947152a7d", "Art": "cfa0c0a01423f6504b4eb55a20d3c377", "Banner": "da0f9c9993eddd66e4ce2a42f665a2b3", "Logo": "bea979a28dac37896de6c33bf5f9cf2a", "Thumb": "47c3c3486474c3d1da12b20e364de771" }, "BackdropImageTags": [ "6ecbdbf35fd5ecfdaa0f4b8124173b57", "2d9bb1d814bbe51c375855a6dfa9b5a6", "3cfa7f2ffba2bb8e8d4bceb2d7821747", "9c343c59eb879c70dd45e53181cad582", "a262a67e72be3284fc6fe72550fe8b81", "e7a935b3369e2a3730628f2539f52c08", "40efd2edf57e57a390bc111dbde1cfaa", "cd8d97de7d5f152247ff3cdededc9d2b", "486451aa6b4b44e797f67ce193494523", "077aa4d71bca91a8826fd4c392932357" ] } ], "TotalRecordCount": 2 } 2.
