I find it interesting that @Luke responds when anything about android vs android tv is mentioned, but he is radio silent about the Live TV update which is the topic of this thread! Why might that be?4 points

Hi, thanks so much for your help! I attempted what you suggested and I was successful! I'll list the successful steps here in case anyone is in a similar situation. This is all completely new to me so please could you let me know if there were any unnecessary steps? Also, I'm a bit worried in case I've opened any security risks so please let me know if I have! Thank you! I set up a Dynamic DNS Hostname on noip.com In the configuration I answered that I did have a server always running (my pc) and installed their DUC software as suggested (which updates the DDNS when my IP changes) I added my DDNS hostname to Emby (Settings > Network > External Domain) I then realised that with my VPN turned off on my PC I was now visible on canyouseeme.org with port 8096! Emby Connect worked on 4G with my iPhone and Samsung Android Tablet! I wanted to get it working with my VPN so I continued... I added my Dynamic DNS hostname to ExpressVPN (by following just step 3 of this guide and checked 'Automatically register my IP address'. (It also mentions to wait at least 10 minutes which I did) It now works on my phone and tablet on 4G! (With VPN running on the PC and devices) As I say, a heads up would be greatly appreciated if I've done anything wrong or have put myself at risk in any way! Thanks again for your help!2 points

Is this doable by some sort of plugin ? Maybe add your imdb credentials and then be able to rate movies here and have them on imdb as well (not talking about sorting here, just rating stuff)1 point

-= PLEASE UP VOTE & PROMOTE THIS REQUEST IF YOU WOULD LIKE THIS FEATURE =- DO THIS BY CLICKING THE "LIKE" BUTTON ON THIS POST REQUEST: Properly pool multiple M3u IPTV sources, so when adding more than one with the exact same M3u emby treats them as one source with however many "Concurrent Streams" you set for each. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/63725-multiple-iptv-tuners-double-channels/?p=636718 https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/59607-duplicate-channels-one-tuner/?p=607031 https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/57420-multiple-identical-m3u-tuners-without-duplicate-channels/?p=560949 Basically once M3u #1 has used all 5 of its tuners, I then need to start using the login info that is within M3u #2... once those 5 tuners are used (now all 10 tuners), then emby issues "no tuners available". This is how emby treats HDhomeruns today, so it can't be to difficult. @@snodrog742 @@manolodf @@robrhedrick @@cayars1 point

EmbyStat is a personal web server that can calculate all kinds of statistics from your (local) Emby server. Just install this on your server and let him calculate all kinds of fun stuff. This project is still in Alpha fase, but feel free to test it on your computer. Packages Supported platforms as the moment are: Windows x64 (IIS and Kestrel) Windows x86 (IIS and Kestrel) Docker https://hub.docker.com/r/uping/embystat/ Debian package I will try to support as many platforms as possible. More and more will come in the future! If you have knowledge about building Unix packages please feel free to contact me so I can support as many platforms as possible. Feature request If you have some crazy idea you want to see implemented in EmbyStat you can create a feature request here => https://embystat.featureupvote.com/ Or just go and upvote your favorite features so I have a better idea about what I should build next. Installation Guides Go to https://github.com/mregni/EmbyStat/releases and grab the latest release. The packages are selfcontained so you don't need to install dotnet runtime on your host. Run the server (Kestrel on Windows example) Embystat.exe --port <port> Passing a port is optional, default port is 6555 To host it in a Docker container you can use the following command docker run -p <port>:6555 -v <hostpath>:/app/config uping/embystat:beta Translations Translations are managed with the Crowdin web service. Feel free to help me translate the application in your own language here: https://crowdin.com/project/embystat. If your language is not listed just create a new feature request or ping me. Technology This project is build from scratch with the following technologies: .NET CORE 2.2 LiteDB SignalR NLog Angular 5 Rollbar Roadmap A lot of things need to be done before I can go life with this and publish my first 1.0 release. This will happen when all features from the Emby statistics plugin are implemented in EmbyStat.1 point

I'm using the mce remote with the flirc dongle so maybe with the original receiver it behaves differently I don't know. There doesn't exist a channel +/- function in Emby apps (except in the Android TV app). None of the Emby apps currently as real support for MCE remotes (only some of the buttons which are mapped to standard functionality are working, but not buttons like 'Guide', 'Music', 'TV', channel up/down and others). Full support for MCE remotes is currently in testing though, as part of the WMC Theme beta (soon publicly available) - but limited to Windows.1 point

Awesome, I appreciate the help. I didn't want to try it and accidentally nuke all of my current users, lol.1 point

Nope, you can add new users and/or merge watched statuses to an existing user or users. Recent related topic:1 point

I agree, if anyone does I reckon those are niche cases, even Kodi nowdays stipulates season artwork on series level only, and considering TMM offers two ways to mitigate that (even if rescrape would be needed it's literally three clicks on bulk edit) so I wouldn't worry about it.1 point

This may actually introduce a new way of getting Album Media Info into the Music screens in emby - as they are sorely lacking in that area .. This is Android (looks ok, it seems to ignore Bold but that might be the screen grab from the Shield) .. the 'overview' is now used to display that data .. Browser looks ok .. AndroidTV is a bit of a mess though (but I much prefer the look of it generally .. note how much info is missing from the Android above - album length, track length.. ) - but to be fair, I don't play music from my TV devices, it's browser or mobile (Android). I may add into the MediaInfo plugin - to scrape the Album Folder name which contains these details ...1 point

Can you use the image editor to manually select new images for both avril and b-52s, then attach the server log? (again with debug logging enabled). thanks.1 point

As mentioned above. this is all about VAAPI - not QuickSync. (MSDK/OneVPL). The latter have their own shader kernels as those encoders are much more capable. This leads to the following order from left-to-right increasing capability (encoder features and quality): Fixed function block (VDEnc) >>> VAAPI EU Kernels >>> QuickSync Kernels VDEnc is intended to be efficient and resource saving. Examples: for not affecting game performance when streaming screen casts for being able to do long video conferences from a laptop It's not the best choice in terms of quality, that's why Emby doesn't use it by default (with QuickSync encoders). But you can activate it in the H.264 QSV Encoder parameters: Check the "Low Power Encoding" option It's not only (or not necessarily) a question of faster vs. slower. You need to take quality into account. VDEnc is fast and simple but it's limited in features and quality. I'm don't really know much regarding the amount of shader units being used and how flexible that is in terms of assignment. I would suspect that it also depends on the output image size. Typically the frames are divided into smaller sections for parallelism and their sizes are depending on the encoder logic and aren't chosen arbitrarily. This means that for a larger frame size, more shader units could possibly be used. What also must not be forgotten with regards to encoding performance on different CPU models is clock rate (I'm not sure whether VDEnc blocks have different clock rates on different models, but I would assume so), and lastly, there's also memory bandwidth which depends on CPU clock rate and the installed RAM's supported rates (or dual vs. single-channel).. It's many factors which come into play. Also, transcoding very often involves CPU-bound tasks, of many different kinds. Hence, my overall conclusion (wrt Emby): The CPU model matters a lot! You cannot say an i3 would be equally suitable to an i7 because it has the same graphics specs on paper...1 point

So, a library without metadata fetching or matching to online databases? Give the library type 'Home Videos & Photos' a try.1 point
-
Do you have an example of a title that has a CR in it's metadata. I've only ever wanted it for bespoke collections and specials etc. 'Finding' a CR in a block of text is easy enough, and then replace with <br/> in the emby data and/or nfo is pretty easy to do ..1 point

Simple bug to find: Log in as a normal user and play back a movie Log out and back in as a restricted user (i.e. one that doesn't have permission to the movie you just played) Go to the browser history, click the old link and you can play it fine as a user without permission. e.g., We watch a movie, say, Hellraiser on the home PC. My 12 year old uses it the next day and can go to the history of Chrome and play back the movie no problem. You can also go to the main media folder it lies in and choose any horror film you like.1 point

You can already achieve that, just point MSIF within TMM to a location Emby stores collections (programdata\metadata\collections).1 point

You can rename all of your seasonXX.jpgs to folder.jpgs on OS level: search for season*.jpg on your TV root, select all, rename either with OS tools or any renaming software of choice.1 point
-
In your TMM settings, TV shows>Artwork>Artwork filenames change Season poster naming scheme to either: 1) <season_folder>\folder.ext or 2) season XX-poster.ext as Emby doesn't recognize seasonXX.ext within season subdolder. https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html#series--season-images1 point

You may be able to do the ddns on your router instead of using the PC software. Look for ddns and if it has it, look for noip and configure it with the same credentials as you used on the pc, once working, then you can use that instead and remove it from your pc.1 point

Hi Luke, thanks for that you hit the nail on the head, an online shopping site that has wanted me to clear cache every time I can't log in so thats what it is. Thanks1 point

Sorry for the delayed response, I fixed it by using the tool that was recommended for it so I am all good1 point
-
I will submit a feature request then for Collections to enable user to go into the settings for Collections within Emby and point to this "Collection Folder" that TMM sets up. If Emby is automatically pulling user created Collections on top of ones already established by TMDB, it would be best to pull over the art as well. User can either do it manually through Emby or set everything up via TMM and pull it over automatically to Emby.1 point

Thank you Luke. Sorry I hadn’t noticed that. This is now fixed. Thank you1 point

I found the culprit! One of my EPG sources was not working anymore! I removed it, and all is back1 point

The button loops through the media entries and creates the ids - its very fast. You can run it as many times as you like, but for automatic addition with media you would have to use a different method such as the media info plugin.1 point

I don't have the ability to filter the guide in the now playing menu in the Emby web interface (screenshot below). It only shows the standard channel order, which I would like to keep if possible. I'm looking for a quick way to go back and forth between previously played channels while a PVR channel is playing without having to scroll through the mini guide from the screenshot. This would be a big benefit to users who watch Live TV through Emby and regularly jump between channels. Another idea would be to add a previous channel keyboard and remote shortcut: https://emby.media/support/articles/Keyboard-and-Remote-Support.html1 point

Oh, that's not correct. Shaders are used by several encoders. Please take a look at the following table: https://github.com/intel/media-driver#decodingencoding-features "Es" means that shaders are used and Emby prefers this mode over the VDEnc modes ("E"). The table above is only for VAAPI, so don't get confused by the newer CPU gens only showing "E". QuickSync/OneVPL is a different story and these include their own (more capable) shader kernels for encoding.1 point

Can you temporarily enable debug logging on the server, then repeat the test and provide a new log? Also, your log is filled with messages such as this: 2023-08-09 18:34:26.054 Error ProviderManager: UnauthorizedAccessException: Emby Server is being write access to /volume1/docker/movies/The Adversary - (2002)/landscape.jpg. Please check your file permissions. You enabled saving images to media folders but did not grant the server write access to your media folders. So this is probably not helping your performance situation. I would either turn that off or fix it.1 point

My 2 main points are: 1. Emby Server is to share my media. It is not for users having their own content. Having user accounts with their own content would be something completely different. 2. Not being able to prevent users from uploading to my server is an absolute no-go. The only reason I say this is because I really love Emby and would like to continue to use it and share with others. Addressing this fundamental issue would be very much appreciated and would allow me to finally actually share my library with others. - CHEERS1 point

Hi, yes I am using HAProxy in front of Emby. Very weird, I missed that before! Thank you so much! For anyone looking in the future, add "option forwardfor" in your frontend to passthrough the original connecting IP.1 point

Hey guys, Because of my home renovations and my first baby arriving in one month, the development of EmbyStat is slacking A LOT. I don't have that much time to develop for it, although I did invest some time in improving the existing features. I cleaned up my code as well, and stabilized the sync code a lot. But the most fun new feature is that I implemented the play sync, meaning you can see graphs on what type of media is seen when. This is still in early development, and I'm not sure when I will create a new beta deploy for you all to test. I wish I had more time or a second dev working on the project, so progress would be much faster.1 point
