  1. Later today I will update the Bulky plugin. I added: 1) simplified the code 2) preserve the aspect ratio of images 3) added a show folders button 4) made several cosmetic changes and corrected a few small bugs 5) moved the "Cast to TV" button out of Edit. It's now in Movies, TV Shows, and Music Videos Vic

  3. Hi, I was fiddling around with other settings in the interim and realized if i disabled subtitles, then playback ran fine. I thought maybe something was non-standard about the recording and when I transcoded it, the resulting video caused kmplayer and powerdvd to have difficulty turning on/off subtitles. I would also have trouble changing languages, ... Just general wierdness. Since this is the only movie from many I have ever had a problem with, Im chalking it being somehow non-compliant. Thanks for your help, but I dont waste everyone's time chasing this. Now that multiple players are having issues and its localized to something about subtitle support, Ill just move on. It wasnt that good a movie anyway. Thanks

  6. I think it has something to do with the upgrade to ARCVM from ARC++, I think Google is slowly rolling out the upgrade, and some models are still on the old version. The upgrade also caused rendering issues in Google's own Google Play Books app. But that is out of scope for this forum.

  8. Thanks Luke. At the end I deleted the installation and created a new one. I'll be saving metadata on .nfo files from now on. Thanks!

  10. Just download latest beta portable and place/extract it wherever you want. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases

  11. Further update: Updated my network adapter driver. Rebooted every device on my network and my router. Roku now sees the Emby Server again. I am not sure what was the real fix was, but something on my side was messing up the network accessibility. I will take the win. Hopefully is stays in this state. Thanks for your help and patience with this issue.

  13. Dang it! That's a long wait, but thanks for the info Luke. I feel like this has been planned for a very long time. Hopefully they can at least stick to that Winter 2023 target.

  14. That's great news because for captions, there are already 4 options in Emby (size, color, transparency, and shadow), only the outline is missing. Thank you for your attention and I hope you have the time available to implement this new configuration. Thank you very much. And to conclude, my dream is that Emby for Android has all the options of Emby for Windows, which reminds me of the good old days of XBMC

  16. Hi Luke, Thanks for thinking this over. I have not, its a Ubuntu 20.04 server with a SMB fileshare (how I manage the files from remote pc's) that hosts the directories that Emby Server has access to. There are no other applications on that machine that do anything with media files) and a Minecraft server. I do have the machine set up to go to sleep if not in use for more than 15 minutes, it is based on the Emby network connections and the SMB users to avoid issues. I assume this will not have impact on the issue since I have this set up since the beginning of the year. Prior to this the machine was on all the time. Given the timeframe of the issue... I'll try and open the files in handbreak again, I used VLC before to check if the tracks were still there. Maybe somehow the tracks are just not being recognized? I will be out of town upcoming week so I'll post when I get the chance to do so. Kind Regards, Ijven

  20. Update: I was logged into DSM via the "....synology.me" URL. I logged out, logged in via the local "192.168....." address, and the update worked just fine, completing in less than 5 minutes. Yay! Thanks, Jim

  22. For even more automation, use a reverse proxy in front of Emby instead. You can usually set up certbot to handle certificates for them, or if you opt for Caddy, that gets and renews your certificate completely automatically by default. Paul

  24. I don't know how old that KB article is but I do agree with @MBSki that it's somewhat limited and only covers one of the ACME challenge methods and the most complicated one at that. I guess it was written for one SSL cert service and as @ebr posted there are many ways to skin this cat.

  26. That's not the way to start any fight. USB installations are only for testing purpose, it is not the intention to have applications installed that way by end users. Emby is just using that to circumvent the unavailability of the application on a global scale (in addition to having new changes tested).

  27. You can use your User 'Playback' settings to control this behaviour.

  28. Which is likely the case - though that popup should really be phrased differently in such occurences and user shouldn't have that option available for selection to begin with, if so. Edit: Then again, subtitle downloading should not have any relation to Premiere subscription, so maybe there's something else going on there.

  30. Hi, you should probably contact the administrator who manages that server for further advice on limits. Your user account may also not have permission to download subtitles.

  31. My Emby server also runs very well on my mac Mini 2018 (i7, 16GB RAM). Which also runs 8 IP cameras and is generally used as a multimedia machine in my home office. The T2 chip is system controller, handling boot time security and system protection, as well as battery status, sensors, microphone control etc. And ... it can be used for video H.265 HEVC 8-bit encoding and decoding. If you search for Handbrake and VideoToolBox, you'll find some interesting stuff about it. FYI: I use Handbrake and avoid using VideoToolBox as the results aren't good.

  32. @MBSki @GrimReaper- MBSki - we should take this into another thread - as it's not really related to the Botnet incident. Grim - could you kindly move the last 7 posts into a new thread pls if MBSki is ok with that ?

  33. The article is good - the usual way is by using a TXT record. By using a CNAME within the same domain - you proove ownership - but that is a very limited use of a CNAME. What you have done will work, but it's likely your public IP will be dynamic - ie it changes over time - and thus you'll need to use a ddns (dynamic dns) service to automatically change this. You may have got this 'service' as part of your domain package - in which case, just configure that service to do it for you and it will change your main DNS A-Record. If it doesn't, then you can use a free ddns service - which will use THEIR domain name - so you then just need to create an CNAME Record (Alias) under YOUR domain to point to the DDNS domain name. for example your domain is mbski.com - so you have a DNS A-Record of lets say 1.2.3.4 which points to hosted web-space you got with the domain name your setup a DDNS account - mbski.dyndns.com - and it has been configured to use your public IP - 5.6.7.8 Now when you want to connect to emby via TLS - you a) need to use mbski.com and b) you don't want to use the dyndns - so you create a CNAME to re-direct the query so you create a c-name as follows emby.mbski.com > mbski.dyndns.com You don't need to use a sub-domain - so you could just do mbski.com > mbski.dyndns.com if you like. if you have a FIXED IP - then changing the value of the A-Record (or CNAME if you want to call it something different) is the correct way to do this (and infact what I do), there is no need to use ddns.

  34. Update: I was able to successfully build ffmpeg-2022_05_27-u1.tar.gz, and now subtitles are working perfectly with emby-4.8.0.37. The "ffmpeg -loglevel +timing -y ..." command lines I see in the log file show ffmpeg running successfully and no longer failing. I was also able to find a link to the forked ffmpeg sources by downloading a debian package (emby-server-deb_4.7.13.0_amd64.deb) and manually extracting it. The source URL was on the last line of the "opt/emby-server/licenses/licenses" file inside the debian package: Source code for the included ffmpeg and ffprobe binaries can be downloaded at https://mediabrowser.github.io/embytools/ffmpeg-2022_05_27-u1.tar.gz. The license file also included a link to a "git@github.com:MediaBrowser/ffmpeg.git" repository, but unfortunately I could not clone that repository. When I tried to clone it, output was "ERROR: Repository not found." so perhaps the repository no longer exists, or is a private rather than a public repository. It would definitely be more convenient for me if the link to forked ffmpeg source code were posted in a more accessible place. Or if forked ffmpeg source code were available in a public git repository. But I appreciate your help on this issue and your work developing emby, and everything is working well for me now!

  40. this is critical - and where i have fallen down at least twice. you must have the stock plugin installed but you must disable the movies and episodes checkboxes in the plugin config. you must then have cinema intros enabled in the user profile under playback

  41. Cause the client dosen't work, these days I was using tv and plex instead. Yestday I tried again and found it still couldn't play any viseo so I removed it. Then I found there's a snap version and after installed, this one works well. Seems there's something wrong with your apt pack.

  42. Thanks Luke. I used the Backup/Restore plugin in the end for two reasons: As you said, given the age a fresh start made sense I did try to move the entire data folder across but despite the fact that I was using UNC pathnames for portability, moving the data folder from a Windows file system to a linux file system (UNRAID) just did not work. emby on UNRAID would not recognise library folder locations transferred from Windows even if they were UNC names.

  43. echoing a request for this feature, it would be easy to implement and provide users with large libraries a huge benefit, and could even leverage the existing thumbnail extraction process by saving errors encountered & providing a report page. i was able to script something up to check a questionable series but its annoying and hard to properly parse the output

  44. I have noticed that if I have a corrupted video file (usually because it was interupted during a copy) the thumb images in Emby will be blank, or emby will show a generic black film thumb images. Wonder if that could be used to flag the file with an issue?
