Emby recently added a new season view that changes how users can access episodes and view seasons. On the surface it looks good, however, Emby removed some functionality: 1) unwatched episode count no longer appears; 2) Users can no longer access the season context menu to make edits. IMO, both of these CAN be added, but since Emby doesn't plan to add them, I'm in the "Don't plan to use" group, and I'm interested to hear what others think. Unfortunately, it appears polls have been removed, so to vote, use these emojis: Yes: Like No: Agree Maybe: Confused Mobile/Web View TV View Where to find the option Go to Display and scroll to bottom and you'll see a drop down for Preferred TV Show display. Edit: Go to http://app.emby.media. That web app gets updated more frequently than the local server web app.

We'll get the website updated with links to DSM 7.2 builds. We also have builds in review with Synology for publishing in Package Center, so we'll see how long that takes. Thanks guys.

From a scientific standpoint this is the most wasted development time i have ever seen, but we are watching.

I think this is another case of a 'fix' being held too long in Beta - and zero formal communication. This is not a highly complex functionality change, it is simply the headers being changed/removed - so personally, I think this should have been released as a preventitive security related Patch on the Stable release simply to avoid the impact of potentially damaging the reputatation of emby should mis-information get into the main social media channels ...

I would like to request a sleep timer function for the Emby app. For example, when a song is playing, it should be possible to quickly and easily set a sleep timer to shut off the song after a desired interval. Options could include 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, 120 minutes. If it had this, I would be happy to purchase Premiere.

Starting from today, you can find a new plugin in the catalog: Transcoding Tests The plugin allows to perform a wide range of tests using a defined set of source files. These tests will help to better understand user issues, compare the behavior on different systems, while it rules out many of those factors which are often hard to impossible to rule out. Another use case is benchmarking and/or comparing the effects of different settings on performance and quality. Finally, this allows to recognize and analyze regressions and differences across versions more reliably. The results are stored outside the log folder and are not subject to regular cleanup. Each job execution is archived as a single file and those can be kept even when the actual output is cleared. The initial version includes essential functionality. From here on, we will see what else might be needed or useful. 23 May 2023 Fixed the error that was stopping collections from building, now they work!

I've just moved back over to PLEX for my playlists. I pretty much had enough of watching the same 30 episodes out of a mix of thousands. I put Trailer Park Boys on shuffle this morning (12 seasons). Watched a couple hours worth, shut it off and went out. Came home an hour ago and hit shuffle again and the first two episodes EMBY played were both played this morning. Installed PLEX and so far so good. I much prefer EMBY but 95% of my viewing is playlists at home on different tv's and after years of the same issue I had enough.

Got it. I don't notice until it until the tuners are all full and then it's hard to find in logs because it happened many hours before. I'll try to get logs next time.

The hole is the time period between tuner opening and the first playback report. If the user bails out before then, that could be an issue. So that's why I'm asking for examples so that we can get a feel for those situations. I do believe the web app has this covered though.

So after conducting extensive testing, this seems to be working great and I have no further issues to report. However since I don't log in with admin rights, I have to launch Emby in the admin account, lock the screen & then log in as a regular user. Would be nice if Emby could be installed as a service natively.

I'm going to revert to an old version, march 2023 IIRC, when the Emby player respected rotation lock. This forced auto-rotation is really a terrible design choice.

Exactly, it should work like YouTube, for 16:9 videos landscape should be selected for 9:16 videos portrait should be. Everything else doesn't make any sense imho. Who in the world wants to watch a 16:9 video in portrait or a 9:16 in landscape?! I didn't understand this change in the first place and still do not tbh., so much more important stuff to do improved yet a month (or even more) later this is still being discussed...

Well that was unbelievably inappropriate. I strongly suggest you remove that example as it can come off as offensive In regards to the poll, all of the forum users can weigh in. What we're showing you is that the design is flawed. What you're showing us is you don't care. I thought these test forums were to be used for review of designs and tweaking prior to release, but that doesn't seem to be the case. More and more often I'm seeing Emby release new designs that are half baked and poorly implemented. As a result, I don't use the new features even though I would if they were complete. It would be nice to actually have designs that were fully implemented, but that appears to be a thing of the past.

Hi Luke. I did for I time. Till I Pressed the “nuclear button” and reset both my router and nas to factory defaults. This seams to have cleared the issue. Thanks for your suggestions though. I have incorporated them into my new set up as well as disabling the subtitles. Regards Jonathan

I figured it out I didn't realize /mnt/user/appdata/binhex-emby/config/ was meant to be the path and that it wasnt saying /config is assumed (underneath the textbox). I also assumed that uninstalling Emby entirely and reinstalling would've put this default setting back (that I don't remember changing).

Just got done installing the final release of DSM 7.2 which was released today. As expected Emby beta server would not start after the DSM update, but I installed the latest Emby beta for DSM 7.2 and all is good. As an added bonus my DS1821+ was one of the few added to the compatibility list of devices that can now use M2 drives as regular volumes under DSM 7.2. Thanks to @Carlofor his great hack, but I'll no longer need it other than the parts on what files to place on the new volume.

your system might not be vulnerable to the log4j exploit, think of this as someone knocking on your door to see if you are home or not. Only if your system is vulnerable whould that move to the next step. Not sure about the last warning, it could be an IP spoof action or it could be you have been compramised. Or it could just be a weird DHCP glitch that has assigned one of your local devices the same IP address which can happen but usually resolves itself resonable quickly.

For me the "new" season view is nothing more than a solution in search of a problem. I see no need for it, as long as it remains out of my way I have no objection at all. For me the old correct view is the only view that makes any sense.

Don't like it, I want my season covers on the main view, of a show. And i like to see how many episodes I haven't seen.

Looking thru the logs, I noticed that it was always stopping on the first movie so I removed it. It played OK, but maybe it was corrupted so I removed it. I also noticed an old non-existing folder that I had not removed from the Movies library was causing errors so I removed it from the Movies library configuration. Will check logs after next run...

The Android TV app seems to be better adapted to the TV format. I don't know, it has some details that I like more, for example: if you press the up button on the remote control, the chapters come up directly. There are configuration options in the Android TV app that are not available in the other one. I already uninstalled it, otherwise, I would take some screenshots. Anyway, it doesn't matter because the audio doesn't improve. I suppose having a TV with more audio options would help. Thanks anyway.

Hi @Luke, I would also welcome a control over this setting, since I am usually using Emby on Android while laying down and holding phone -usually the phone is in landscape mode, but sometimes when I move it switches unintentionally to portrait mode and I have to "wiggle" it to get back to landscape. thanks for considering this

Agree. For music, list view works and for short watchlists it's ok, but for very long video playlists, which is what I have it doesn't work very well.

Exposing ANY application (not just Emby) directly to the internet without a reverse proxy and some measure of intrusion detection / prevention is never a good idea.

Would it be possible for Emby to not skip the 1st Episode Intro in a new Season when selecting the 'Automatically skip intros' option in the clients ? The Introskip Plugin had this option - and for a new Show especially, showing the Intro for Episode 1 (per Season) is actually nice to see (even if it has been correctly detected). Thanks.

Did you enable importing collections in your library options? I'd probably also set the min collection size to 1 to make this easier to test.

@DonMacaroni Merge to whitelist topic. But Emby many need to make this whitelist user editable in a config.
